Based on the conditional characteristic functions via nonparametric estimation, this paper proposes a new test for financial contagion. Compared with the existing tests, the proposed test can not only avoid the model misspecification problem but also capture both linear and various forms of nonlinear financial contagion. The proposed test has a convenient asymptotic standard normal distribution under the null hypothesis. Monte Carlo studies demonstrate the good performance of our test in finite samples. In an empirical application to testing financial contagion, we find significant nonlinear financial contagion between China's stock market and other stock markets, including East Asia, Latin America, emerging markets, which could not be identified by tests based on linear measures. In view of the significant impacts that polar ice has on the climate of the mid-low latitudes,this paper mainly analyses the effects and possible mechanism of Arctic sea ice on the precipitation in the main flood season of the Yangtze River basin by statistical methods such as Singular Value Decomposition. The precipitation data is collected from 116 rainfall stations in the Yangtze River basin and the sea ice data is provided by the United States National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC),both periods are 1979-2017. The results show as follows:In winter and spring,when ice area in the Barents Sea and Okhotsk Sea was more than the average and that in the Beaufort Sea was less than the average,then summer precipitation in upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River,the upper reaches of the Hanjiang River and the Yalong River increased;When winter-spring ice area in the northern part of the Arctic Archipelago,Chukchi Sea and Laptev Sea was much,summer precipitation in the Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake was much too,but it was less in the upper reaches of the Jialing River and Hanjiang River; and vice versa. The possible mechanism is that the sea ice variation in key regions in winter and spring stimulates atmospheric energy fluctuation by affecting turbulent heat flux. This fluctuation propagates to East Asia in the form of atmospheric wave trains and affects the summer atmospheric circulation and water vapor transport in East Asia,thus indirectly affecting precipitation of the Yangtze River basin in the main flood season. Based on the multivariate regression method,four prediction models of precipitation in the main flood season are built by taking the sea ice area in key region as predictors. The models have obvious fluctuation on quantitative precipitation prediction,but it has a relatively good effect on precipitation trend prediction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper simulated the influence of technological progress based FDI on China's agriculture through theoretical analysis and CGE model. The results show: With the East Asian regional economic cooperation, there were increasing FDI based on free trade area to China gradually, The technological progress of agriculture and their factors sectors would promote their production and exports. Vegetables, meat and milk exports increased significantly, while real wages and aggregate consumer value dropped; The elasticity of economic indicators to technological progress based on agricultural factors sector were relatively large, The lager technological progress of agricultural sector, the greater regional differences in output growth, while the technological progress of agricultural factors sectors led to even more regional development unbalanced compared to agricultural sectors. This paper has improved the basic method to measure the domestic technological contents of export products. By using data in the input-output table and the export trade data on the SITC REV.2 level, it counts the whole technological contents, the domestic technological contents and the index of the domestic technological contents of export products in several years of East Asian economic bodies like China, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. The result shows that China's export products' domestic technological content is going through an upward trend since middle 90s, 20th century. Also, the short term impact of China's entrance into WTO on China's export products' domestic technological contents is greater than long term impact. Though Japan ranks the top in East Asian on domestic technological contents, its downward trend is obvious in recent years. The Korea's export products' domestic technological contents raises greatly and convergence to Japan. Indonesia failed in improving its export products' domestic technological contents. Finally, in combination of the evolution trend of export products' domestic technological contents in China and other three East Asian countries, the article proposed some relevant policy recommendations under the background of further opening up and involving in regional economic integration in East Asia. A lot of books on globalization have been published, but few of them have touched upon the subject of changing dietary cultures in East Asia. The processes of globalization and localization of some particular foods have been studied historically, but few researchers have conducted extensive surveys on the changing culinary preferences of the East Asian people. This paper addresses this issue. It is based on the analysis of data compiled by the AsiaBarometer surveys of 2006 and 2007 : these surveys had contained questions on how different types of foods are favored in 14 countries/regions across East Asia. Data analysis also revealed the fact that D. Held's three perspectives on globalization--the globalist perspective, the traditionalist perspective, and the transformationalist perspective--are all supported by different pieces of empirical evidence, which suggests that the impact of globalization on local dietary cultures has been diverse, and that the nature of such impact depends on the historical development processes in a region or within a culture. Exposure to globalization will in general promote omnivorousness in East Asia, but some countries like South Korea have shown no correlation between their exposure to globalization and their attitude toward foreign foods. It is quite dangerous, therefore, to discuss "globalization of dietary cultures" as a universal phenomenon after only a cursory sampling of the trends prevalent in a few parts of East Asia.
