2. A newly-found inscribed funerary altar from the territory of Parthicopolis

The subject of this communication is a funerary altar discovered in 2022 during archaeological field survey in the Sandanski area. The monument was found at site 58, situated in the locality “Saint Dimitria” near the village of Leshnitsa, municipality of Sandanski. The site is a settlement from the Roman period (2nd–4th c. AD) and the Middle Ages (13th–14th c. AD), occupying a natural, flat floodplain terrace north of the Leshnishka River, covering an area of 5.8 decares. The monument is a funerary altar, possibly exhibiting traces of an unfinished verse-inscription in Greek, dated to the second half of the 2nd c. or the beginning of the 3rd c. AD. The Leshnitsa funerary altar joins the small group of funerary epigraphy from the Middle Strymon region, whence two other examples of the same type from nearby Heraclea Sintica are also dated to the second half of the 2nd c. or the beginning of the 3rd c. AD. The funerary altar from Leshnitsa constitutes the first such example from the territory of Parthicopolis, a Trajanic or early Hadrianic foundation of AD 117–120.

3. Heavy metals in bones from Harbour Porpoises Phocoena phocoena from the Western Black Sea Coast

During the last few years, the Western Black Sea coast has documented increase in the number of stranded marine mammals, particularly the harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). This species is a subject to threats such as exposure to contaminants, fishery by-catch and introduced new marine species. The aim of this study was to analyse spatial and age trends in bone metal concentration in harbour porpoises from the Western Black Sea Coast. Selected heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd and Ni) were measured in bones of 33 harbour porpoises stranded along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast from 2017. Spatially, we found higher metal levels in the harbour porpoises stranded in the Northern region compared with those from Southern region. The effect of aging was evident only for Zn content – the levels were higher in juveniles than in adults. The obtained results suggested that heavy metal contamination represent an important threat encountered by harbour porpoises.

Scythris sinensis (Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875) is reported for the first time from Bulgaria. The species has never been recorded from the Balkan Peninsula and the present locality is one of the few southern points in its range in Europe.

- Abstract
The dissertation deals with the preparation and characterization of the newly synthesized derivatives of the synthetic retinoid bexarotene. The continued and intensive study of the role of retinoids in the complex of differentiation, cell proliferation, and cellular growth processes determines the major potential for the using of retinoids (natural and synthetic) in the treatment of a number of abnormalities arising from abnormal cell development. Of particular interest is the possibility of their use in the treatment of neoplastic processes in the body.Bexarotene is a third-generation retinoid and is used in the treatment of T-cell skin cancer. In addition to its proven application in oncology, there are a number of data on the effects of neurological and autoimmune processes in the body.For the preparation of bexarotene derivatives, a three-step synthetic scheme has been developed. Involving the preparation of hydrazide and the subsequent interplay with carbonyl compounds to form the target hydrazones. Hydrazide-hydrazone compounds have attention in the last few decades because of the diverse pharmacological effects they possess. Hydrazones and their derivatives are known to exhibit a wide range of pharmacological effects such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, anthelmintic, anti-tuberculosis, etc. The development of the hydrazone class of compounds has made significant progress and many new aspects of application have been discovered. The resul, Дисертационния труд разглежда получаването и охарактеризирането на новосинтезирани производни на синтетичния ретиноид бексаротен. Продължаващото и интензивно изучаване на ролята на ретиноидите в комплекса от процеси на диференциация, пролиферация на клетки и регулация на клетъчния растеж обуславя големия потенциал за приложение на ретиноиди (естествени и синтетични) при лечението на редица нарушения, произтичащи от анормалното клетъчно развитие. Като с особен интерес се разглежда възможността за употребата им в терапията на неопластични процеси в организма.Бексаротенът се отнася към ретиноидите от трето поколение и намира приложение в терапията на Т-клетъчен кожен карцином. Освен утвърденото си приложение в онкологията редица са данните за ефекти при неврологични и автоимунни процеси в организма. За получаване на производни на бексаротен е разработена триетапна синтетична схема, включваща получаване на хидразид и последващо взаимодействие с карбонилни съединения до формиране на целевите хидразони. Хидразид-хидразоновите съединения привличат вниманието през последните няколко десетилетия поради разнообразните фармакологични ефекти, които притежават. Известно е, че хидразоните и техните производни проявяват широк спектър от фармакологични ефекти като антиоксидантен, противовъзпалителен, аналгетичен, антимикробнен, антихелминтен, противотуберкулозен и т.н. Развитието на хидразоновия клас съединения бележи значителен прогрес и се разкриват множество нови аспекти на приложение.

- Abstract
Динамичното развитие на телекомуникационните мрежи през последното десетилетие направи необходимо преосмислянето на традиционните компютърни мрежи и разработване на нови решения покриващи изискванията на съвременните приложения и техните потребители. Предоставянето на висококачествени услуги, динамично и програмируемо управление на мрежите са само част от проблеми при създаване на решения каквито са софтуерно дефинираните мрежи. В първа глава на дисертационният труд е извършен сравнителен анализ на някой от основните подходи при създаване на децентрализирана контролна равнина при софтуерно дефинираните мрежи. Формулирани са целите и задачите на дисертационния труд. Във втора глава е разгледана архитектурата на основните SDN елементи мрежите. Въз основна на на анализа са изведени аналитични модели оценяващи средното време за отговор на контролните равнини, разгледани в първа глава. В трета глава е предложена платформа за провеждане на изследвания даваща възможност за изследване на основните мрежови показатели като скорост, времезакъснение, житер, загуби и време за инсталиране на поточни правила. В допълнение на това е създаден програмен модул за оценка на Bin packing алгоритмите и е синтезиран обобщен алгоритъм за разпределяне на хардуерните ресурси на управляващите контролери спрямо тяхното натоварване. В четвърта глава е предложена методика за провеждане и репликиране на постигнатите изследвания в дисертационния труд., The dynamic evolution of information and communication technologies during the past decade require rethinking of traditional computer networks of today and developing a new solutions that would be able to cover the requirements of modern application and their users. Providing high quality of service, dynamic, centralized and programmable management of computer networks are part of the issues that follow the development of architecture such as the software defined networks. In the first chapter of the dissertation a comparative analysis of the methods for creating a decentralized control plane has been carried out. Furthermore, the goals and objectives of the dissertation has been formulated. In the second chapter of the dissertation the main focus falls onto the architecture of SDN controller and OpenFlow Switch. An analytical model have been derived based on the analyzed architecture, which has been further used to derive the average response time of all software defined architectures reviewed in chapter one. The third chapter covers the whole process of creating and implementing the experimental platform on which all experiments were conducted. The platform incorporates several programming modules including a module for comparison of Bin packing algorithms as well as a module for distribution the load of software defined controllers based on their load. The fourth chapter consists of a methodology for conducting and replicating the achieved results in the dissertation.
