The aim of the experiment was to assess an effect of rainfall, temperature and fertilization on grassland dry matter (DM) production and quality. Five treatments control (C0N), PK, N50PK, N100PK and N150PK were established in the western part of “Zvolenska kotlina” basin (Slovakia) on alluvial meadow. The paper consists of experimental data collected during 11 years (2008 – 2018). The highest DM production was found in the treatment with the rate of 150 kg/ha, the lowest crude protein (CP) content was identified with the unfertilized treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the chemical composition and nutritional value of the dominant species and subspecies of the grassland community Scorzoneretalia villosae. The research was carried out on the grasslands of the Cicarija plateau. In the collected samples of 17 dominant plants, the content of the dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ash, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), acid detergent lignin (ADL), in vitro digestibility of DM (IVDMD) and net energy for lactation (NEL) were determined. According to the spring content of CP and IVDMD, Hippocrepis comosa (CP 181 g/kg DM, IVDMD 63.5%), Scorzonera villosa (CP 121 g/kg DM, IVDMD 61.5%) and Satureja montana ssp. variegata (CP 83 g/kg DM, IVDMD 60.4%) were the most nutritious and very palatable for sheep while the most unfavorable chemical composition had Stipa pennata ssp. eriocaulis (NDF 790, ADF 396 and ADL 112 g/kg DM) and Brachypodium pinnatum ssp. rupestre (NDF 789, ADF 483 and ADL 86 g/kg DM). A high IVDMD was determined for Salvia pratensis (up to 70.6%) and Teucrium chamaedrys (67.1%), generally hepatotoxic species, but not toxic for the local herd. In this paper, nutrition indicators of collected species and subspecies are presented for the first time.

The aim of this paper was to determine the effect of production season on sensory attributes of artisanal smoked dry-cured ham and to elaborate findings by non-parametric testing and principal component analysis. This paper examines the influence of Pb+2, Cd+2 and As+3 on growth of roots in legumes (broad bean, soybean, pea) and cereals (barley, maize). Roots of germinating plants were exposed to two different levels of Pb+2 (300 and 500 mg*L-1), Cd+2 (100 and 300 mg*L-1) and As+3 (50 and 100 mg*L-1) during four day experiment. During this time, length of roots were daily measured. Toxicity of metal treatment on plant roots was calculated as phytotoxicity index (IP). In all cases, a moderate effect of lead treatment was observed (IP up to 56.67 %) while higher doses of cadmium and arsenic resulted in increase of IP above 50 %. In cases of barley and maize, the toxic effect of almost all test doses of the heavy metals was observed as soon as 24 hours after their application. Generally, a higher tolerance to tested metals showed roots of both bean cultivars (IP 16.27- 69.53 %), while the most sensitive reactions had roots of barley and soybean (IP > 50 %, excluding dose Pb 300).

The present paper proposes a bifactorial model obtained by a generalization of the unifactorial Mitscherlich model. After analysing the graphic representation of the experimental data and the theoretical curves, one can conclude that they present good concordance. Treatments with nitrogen fertilizers within the limits of 0 – 200 kg a.i. ha-1 determined different optimum and maximum values for each of the four fertilization variants with phosphorus and potassium (optimum value 97 kg ha-1 N on P0K0 with yield increase of 1224 kg ha-1; optimum 107 kg ha-1 N on P50K50, with an increase of 952 kg ha-1; 111 kg ha-1 N on P100K100 with an increase of 968 kg ha-1 and 103 kg ha-1 N on P150K150 with an increase of 1413 kg ha-1). From an economical point of view, we will maximize the benefit corresponding to production value in the hypothesis that only one fertilizer is applied, namely a complex fertilizer of the type N15P15K15. For the actual price values q = 0.2 € ∙ kg−1, p = 0.6€ ∙ kg−1 the solution of the equation above is x = 221 kg ∙ ℎa−1.

Nowadays breeding has become the problem often solved in European states and it has been paid much attention by breeding organizations. In terms of hippology as well as some urgent requirements from the side of nonius breeders we have focussed on this particular breed especially from the reason of its further survival and development in Slovakia. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the growth indicators as well as the achievement level of the stallions since 1927 to the present. Based on our research of the nonius body lines we can state that at present there are 3 stallions that are followers of the N VIII horse line founder. In general, there are 12 stallions that are active within this breed in Slovakia. It was statistically confirmed that this particular breed grew much stronger through the goal-directed breeding work, improved nutrition as well as the immediate breeding site. It was quite complicated to evaluate the performance tests because the individual indicators were significantly influenced by the subjective views of the commitee members performing the evaluation. The next factor which prevents the objective evaluation is the fact that in the period up to 1979, the performance tests were valued by the 100 point system and from the year 1980 by the 10 point system. That is why we take the performance test results into account only as supplemental ones, which can provide a kind of amendment to the observed biological parameters.
