The paper presents the algorithm of diagnosis and treatment of patients developed acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) in early postoperative period. The paper discusses the precipitating factors for PTE and defines the people with higher risk. Also, it presents data about surgical procedures and the risk that each of them carries separately. The diagnosis of acute pulmonary thromboembolism is set to modern diagnostic tools, as recommended by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pulmonary thromboembolism, from 2014.Using modern scor systems, were assessed early, hospital risk and risk for recurrent episodes.In the acute phase, through the above three examples, standard therapeutic approaches were used for unfractionated and low molecular weight heparins with overlapping with warfarin, as for the first time new, oral anticoagulant drugs (nonvitamin K anticoagulant drugs) and in the third case (a patient with thrombotic masses or free-floating right heart thrombus) fibrinolytic therapy with a satisfactory effect and without adverse effects. Also, we made additional, complementary diagnostic tests to detect the cause of embolism, accordingly with the data and findings from modern medical literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
