The research aims at identifying and categorizing what is known as the extra unnecessary sentences or phrases in Arabic language. These are phrases or sentences that, if deleted, will leave the reader with a syntactically correct sentence. The closest approximation of this in English grammar is the appositive phrase. This article breaks out the traditional approach of analyzing such extra or unnecessary particles, phrases or sentences because reducing the sentence or the phrase into its singular form in Arabic is not the only way to decide whether they are labeled unnecessary or extras. Thus, this article uses an analytical approach which adopts modern linguistic methods in examining the Arabic syntax. The ultimate goal of this research is to predicts some rules which help scholars to identify such cases easily and sufficiently in a scholarly manner in education and research.
