First clinical experiences indicate the possibility for implant-supported cone-overdentures to be used in the treatment of partial edentulism. In situations with statically unfavorable abutment distribution or uncertain prognosis of the natural teeth, fixtures could be implanted in suitable positions and used as abutments in combination with the remaining teeth. Clinical and biomechanical aspects of implant-supported cones in the treatment of partially edentulous patients are discussed.

The purpose of this article is to present a new cast clasp's design: the retentive clasp element will be shifted from the vestibular to the oral surface of the abutment tooth; at the same time, both the appertaining reciprocal component and the occlusal rest will be combined into a new element: an "occlusal arm rest". This comes up to esthetic demands sufficiently, without any functional reduction. The esthetic clasp design can especially be applied to premolars and molars, on the proviso that there are sufficient undercuts on the oral side and good dental hygienics of the patient.
