A new abyssal cyclostome bryozoan genus and species, Vasopora ceramica n. gen., n. sp., is described from the eastern Russian exploration area of the Clarion–Clipperton Fracture Zone based on newly collected material from Yuzhmorgeologiya GLD4–19 station 421 (13.23408° N, 134.22180° W, 4809 m depth). Generic characters include an erect pedunculate colony with a distinct boundary between column and flared capitulum, short autozooidal peristomes in a single whorl, numerous alveoli, a central unidirectional sac-like gonozooid covered by a surficial network of crossed ridges continuous with adjacent rims of alveoli, a laterally opening ooeciopore, and the entire capitulum surface being minutely densely granular to subspinulate. Whereas the skeletal microstructure of the capitulum surface comprises irregular imbricated crystallites, the column has a planar-spherulitic fabric of acicular crystallites in fan-like arrays, and there are no pseudopores. The sharp boundary between capitulum and column, with their different microstructure separates Vasopora n. gen. from the two existing genera of Alyonushkidae that are found in the same environment. Vasopora n. gen. has a stalk formed of calcified exterior wall, whereas it is interior-walled in Alyonushka and Calyssopora.

Odontella rapoporti sp. nov., from Tierra del Fuego is described, as the third species of the Odontella lobata group, which has a subantarctic distribution. The new species is similar to O. lobata and O. setosa, but can be distinguished from them by the number of chaetae on the dens (6 or 7 chaetae in O. setosa vs. 5 chaetae in the other species) and the number of chaetae in the distal whorl of the tibiotarsus (9 chaetae in O. lobata vs. 11 in the other species). The closely related monotypic genus Afrodontella Deharveng, 1981, and its type species (A. septemlobata) are described.

The Alycaeinae Blanford, 1864 (Gastropoda: Cyclophoridae) is a species-rich group of caenogastropod land snails distributed mainly in Southeast Asia (Kobelt 1902). The Madagascan endemic Boucardicus Fischer-Piette & Bedoucha, 1965 has also been classified in the Alycaeinae (Emberton 2002). The Asian species of Alycaeinae are characterized by a sutural tube on the last whorl that is closed at its posterior end, but is connected to the outside by radial microtunnels opening near the umbilicus. This device is hypothesized to allow gas exchange when the animal is retracted and the operculum seals the shell aperture (Páll-Gergely et al. 2016).

Two new onychiurid species, Thalassaphorura microspinata sp. nov. and T. guangxiensis sp. nov., are reported from the karsts of south China (Guangxi). T. microspinata sp. nov. is similar to T. grandis Sun, Chen & Deharveng, 2010 in having the same dorsal and ventral pso formula, number of pseudocelli on subcoxae 1, number of chaetae in the distal whorl of tibiotarsi and number of p-chaetae between inner posterior pso on head; but it can be recognized by the smaller body size, shorter AS, 5 chaetae on baso-lateral part of labium, distinguishable S-chaetae and absence of chaetae on Th. I sternum. T. guangxiensis sp. nov. possesses the same dorsal pso formula as Chinese species T. reducta Sun, Chen & Deharveng, 2010, T. bapen Sun, Chen & Deharveng, 2010 and T. guangdongensis Sun & Li, 2015a, but they could be separated easily by ventral pso formula, number of pseudocelli on subcoxae 1 and other combined characters. An updated key of world species of the genus Thalassaphorura is provided. The species Thalassaphorura saccardyi (Denis, 1935) is transferred to the genus Protaphorura Absolon, 1901 on examination of the type material. In addition to those listed in Sun et al. (2010), two additional species placed in Thalassaphorura by Parimuchová & Kováč 2016 are considered here as incertae sedis because of insufficient descriptions: Thalassaphorura boskovae (Lučić, Dimitrijević & Mihajlova, 2003), and T. tamdaona (Nguyen, 1995).

Revision of the genus Pseudopomatias Mollendorff, 1885 and its relatives (Pall-Gergely et al. 2015) resulted in the recognition of four genera, which agree in the (usually slender) turriform, spindle-shaped or almost cylindrical shell and the regularly ribbed teleoconch, except sometimes for the last half whorl. The genus Vargapupa Pall-Gergely, 2015, which differs from Pseudopomatias by possessing a basal keel, includes two species, one from Vietnam, and another from Laos.

Extensive new collections of latrunculid sponges from British Columbia, the Aleutian Islands, and the Gulf of Alaska, have extended the distributions of known species Latrunculia oparinae Samaai & Krasokhin, 2002, from the Russian Sea of Okhotsk, L. velera Lehnert et al., 2006, from the Aleutian Islands, and L. austini Samaai et al., 2006, from British Columbia. New material has facilitated detailed re-descriptions of these species and in situ images have improved our understanding of their living morphology and ecology. Several new species of Latrunculia were discovered within these collections: sympatric species Latrunculia hamanni sp. nov. and L. oparinae are described here and differentiated from each other by various field characteristics, and L. lincfreesei sp. nov. is described from the Gulf of Alaska. In terms of their higher systematics, L. austini and L. hamanni sp. nov. are recognisable within the subgenus Latrunculia du Bocage, 1869, and L. lincfreesei sp. nov. in subgenus Biannulata Samaai et al., 2006. A third subgenus, Uniannulata subgen. nov., is proposed for L. oparinae, L. velera and several fossil species in southern New Zealand and Western Australian Eocene fossiliferous sediments. In all of these species the subsidiary whorl, apical whorl, and apex of the anisodiscorhabd are fused. Living species of Uniannulata subgen. nov. are thus far restricted to the North Pacific Ocean. A new genus, Bomba gen. nov., is proposed for a rare latrunculid species, Bomba endeavourensis gen. et sp. nov., discovered in deep waters on British Columbia's Endeavour Ridge. Finally, Latrunclava gen. nov. is proposed for species with long, sceptre-like anisoconicorhabds in addition to the typical, smaller anisodiscorhabds; Latrunclava imago gen. et sp. nov. is described from the central Aleutian Islands.

Vertigo botanicorum sp. nov. is described from the Russian Altai Mountains. The species was recorded in 8 out of 118 study sites and totally 21 live individuals and 15 empty shells were collected. It is a medium-sized Vertigo species living in various tall-forb meadows, shrubby and forest habitats; avoiding only dry and strictly open sites. Mostly it was found in rather acidic sites of higher altitudes (above 1300 m a.s.l.).

A new species of Scissurella d’Orbigny, 1824 from the Azores is described and compared to similar species from the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean areas: Sinezona cingulata (O.G. Costa, 1861), Scissurella costata d’Orbigny, 1824, Sin. semicostata Burnay & Rolan, 1990, Sci. lobini (Burnay & Rolan, 1990) as well as two representatives from the Caribbean, Sin. confusa Rolan & Luque, 1994 and Sci. redferni (Rolan, 1996). The description and comparisons are based on shell and radula morphology examined by scanning electron microscopy. The species that are considered here are described by features including: shell shape, shell sculpture, shape of teleoconch I, which begins after the protoconch and ends at the onset of the selenizone and teleoconch II which extends from the selenizone to the aperture, presence or absence of a slit or foramen, details of the umbilical region and protoconch sculpture and width. Scissurella azorensis n. sp. is characterized by the protoconch sculpture, which contains axial cords on the outer margins only, having a open umbilicus region, teleoconch I being greater then one whorl and the amount of strong axial cords over the entire shell. The distributional range for Sin. semicostata is extended to the Salvage Islands. Sinezona fayalensis (Dautzenberg, 1889), Sin. depressa (Watson, 1897) and Sin. crossei (Folin, 1869) are compared to Sin. cingulata to show synonymy.
