We revise the bee subgenus Augochloropsis (Glyptochlora) and recognize four species in the group. Three new species are described, Augochloropsis peruviana n. sp., Augochloropsis ticuna n. sp. and Augochloropsis atrocyanea n. sp. and the type species, Augochloropsis ornata (Smith, 1879), is re-described. The descriptions were based on females collected in the Amazon Basin forests from Colombia, Peru, and Brazil. The disjunct distribution exhibited by A. (Glyptochlora) with respect its nearest phylogenetic group Augochloropsis (Glyptobasia), with species only present in the Atlantic Forest of eastern Brazil, is discussed in light of current knowledge about other taxa with similar distribution pattern. This is new evidence for an already well-established pattern of disjunct distributions of some bee taxa between these two biomes. An identification key for the species and a distribution map are also provided.

The species of Centris of the hyptidis group are revised. The group, composed by C. hyptidis Ducke, C. hyptidoides Roig-Alsina, and C. thelyopsis n. sp., exhibits unique morphological characters within the genus, like foreand midtrochanters with a laminar expansion at the base, and elaiospathes strongly modified. An updated catalog, and floral and distributional records are provided for each species, as well as an identification key and a distribution map. The male of C. hyptidoides is described for the first time and a modern diagnosis for C. hyptidis is presented. A new species, C. thelyopsis n. sp., is described from Goias State, in central Brazil. It can be easily distinguished from the two previously known species by its predominant orange pilosity, including that of the hind legs and metasoma.

The present work describes for the first time the male of the bee genus Xenochlora Engel, BrooksYanega, 1997. The male of X. nigrofemorata (Smith, 1879) is described and illustrated. Additionally, Megalopta opacicollis Friese, 1926 is placed as a junior synonym of X. nigrofemorata (Smith, 1879).

Tracheliodes leclercqi sp. n., a new species of the ant-hunter genus Tracheliodes Morawitz, is described from southeastern Brazil. It closely resembles T. cutucu Cooper, 1988 and the main differences between the two species are presented. Photographs of type specimens of T. leclercqi sp. n., as well as of a female and a male paratypes of T. cutucu, are provided.

The identity of Monedula diana Handlirsch, 1890 is reassessed and the species is transferred to the monotypic genus Selman, which now includes two species, S. diana n. comb. and S. notatus (Taschenberg, 1870). The main differences between the two species are presented. Photographs of the holotype of Monedula diana are provided and its putative type locality is discussed. Also new distribution records are provided for S. notatus.

The present paper transfers Mutilla pumila Burmeister, 1854 and Mutilla pergrata Cresson, 1902 to the genus Pseudomethoca Ashmead, and a lectotype is designated for Mutilla pumila. The male of this species, previously known only from the female sex, is described and the female is redescribed and illustrated for the first time. Sex association was based on laboratory mating trials. Field observations in a montane Atlantic forest site in southern Brazil provided us behavioural notes on attempts of parasitism in nests of the halictine bee Dialictus seabrai (Moure, 1956).

Protandrena avulsa new species, from Espirito Santo and Minas Gerais (southeastern Brazil) is described and illustrated. This species is unique within Protandrena for its well-developed pronotal lamella, similar to what is found in Pseudopanurgus and Parapsaenythia, and by its protuberant interantennal area. This is the first record of this bee genus in Brazil.

The genera Agapostemonoides and Rhinetula have been treated as containing only a single species each. In this work Agapostemonoides weyrauchi new species, from Bolivia and Peru, is described and the species Rhinetula rufiventris Friese, 1922 is removed from the synonymy of Rhinetula denticrus Friese, 1922. Identification keys, illustrations of male terminalia and record maps for the species of both genera are provided.

The type material of Tetrapedia haeckeli Friese, 1910, T. testacea var. nigriceps Friese, 1899, T. pygmaea Schrottky, 1902 and T. punctifrons Smith, 1879 are studied and lectotypes designated for the first three names. Taxonomic notes are provided, and sterna 6–8, genitalia, face and mesoscutum of Paratrapedia haeckeli are illustrated. The subgenus Paratetrapedia (Amphipedia) Michener & Moure, 1957 is here synonymized with Paratetrapedia (Lophopedia) .

A new species, Scaura atlantica Melo, is described from eastern Brazil. It belongs to the latitarsis group and can be distinguished from workers of S. latitarsis especially by its larger body size, darker color, smoother upper frons, and by the contour of the posterior margin of the hind basitarsus; from workers of S. argyrea, n. stat., it differs by possessing a frons with shorter simple setae whose sockets are less protuberant, shorter simple setae on the mesoscutum and by the shape of the hind basitarsus. Considering that the original type series of Trigona latitarsis Friese, 1900, is probably composed of more than one species, a worker syntype from Brazil (Jundia , S o Paulo) is here designated lectotype in order to stabilize the taxonomy of the group.
