Indian species of the ant-eating spider genera Asceua Thorell, 1887, Cydrela Thorell, 1873 and Euryeidon Dankittipakul & Jocqué, 2004 are reviewed. The species Asceua cingulata (Simon, 1905) is redescribed and illustrated based on type and freshly collected material and a new species, A. thrippalurense sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on both sexes. All the Indian Cydrela species are transferred back to the genus Capheris Simon, 1893 under which these were originally placed. The species Capheris escheri Reimoser, 1934 comb. rest. and Caph. stillata Simon, 1905 comb. rest. are redescribed and illustrated, the former based on its type specimen, while the latter based on freshly collected material. The species Capheris nitidiceps Simon, 1905 comb. rest. is considered as a nomen dubium due to the immature stage of the holotype. The two Indian species of Euryeidon are transferred to the genus Laminion Sankaran, Caleb & Sebastian, 2020 due to generic similarities. The distribution of all these species is mapped.

Three new species of Eupogonius LeConte, 1852 (Desmiphorini) are described from Mexico: E. rifkindi sp. nov., from Colima and E. martinezi sp. nov. and E. pulcher sp. nov., from Nayarit. A new country record is provided for Eupogonius piperitus (Bates, 1885) and new country (Belize) and state (Mexico, Oaxaca) records are provided for Drycothaea spreta Bates, 1885 (Calliini). The differences between D. spreta and D. turrialbae (Breuning, 1943) are discussed. Additional new distribution records are presented for Canidia ochreostictica (Dillon, 1956) and Stenolis multimacula Monné, 2011 (Acanthocinini). In a recent paper by us, the repository acronyms listed under materials and methods do not match the repository acronym listed for the new species, the type repository for those four new species is clarified herein.

The knowledge of palpigrades in Cuba is limited to the species Eukoenenia orghidani, discovered and described from Cueva de Bellamar. In this work, a survey for palpigrades in the suburbs of La Habana, Cuba revealed three species, Eukoenenia berlesei, Eukoenenia florenciae and a new species described here as Eukoenenia glandulosa sp. nov. Interestingly, the three species coexist in the microspaces of wet soil. A total of 16 arthropod species were identified living in the same microhabitat as the palpigrades.

The Afrotropical genus Meganaclia Aurivillius, 1892 is revised, five new species M. smithi sp. n., M. grehani sp. n., M. josephi sp. n., M. johannae sp. n. and M. gaerberfesti sp. n. are described with a key for identification of species based on male genitalia structures. Habitus and genitalia of all taxa are illustrated and a distribution map is provided.

The two species previously included in the genus Hayesiana Fletcher, 1982 were studied. The life history of the sole currently included species, Hayesiana triopus (Westwood, 1847) is illustrated in colour for the first time. Field records of Hayesiana triopus and Dahira farintaenia (Zhu & Wang, 1997) (previously Hayesiana farintaenia) are given, with the first description of the female genitalia of the latter. The diagnostic features and DNA barcoding data of Hayesiana triopus and Dahira farintaenia are also discussed.

A new species of Ampulicomorpha Ashmead, A. minima sp. nov., is described from Madagascar, Toliara Province. The female holotype is compared with the known females of all other Afrotropical species of the same genus. A new key to them is presented, together with the first complete multifocal illustration of the females of all Afrotropical species of Ampulicomorpha.

In the present paper the genus Ducetia Stål 1874 in India is reviewed. The diagnostic characters for two new species of Ducetia Stål 1874, D. assamica sp. nov. from North-East India and D. rohinii sp. nov. from Western Ghats are described. The two species are part of Ducetia japonica species complex. Further information on the distribution and ecology of species is given. A key to studied species of Ducetia is presented. While morphologically similar, D. assamica and D. rohinii show distinct differences in their call structures. Our work demonstrates the importance of acoustic signals in taxonomic studies.

We examined the morphology, colour patterns and genetic relationships of Nososticta populations allied to N. salomonis (Selys) from across Melanesia. Seven species-level taxa are recognised in the N. salomonis ‘complex’: N. africana (Schmidt), N. boonei sp. nov., N. chrismulleri Theischinger & Richards, N. hedigeri sp. nov., N. salomonis (Selys), N. stueberi sp. nov., and N. tagula sp. nov. All of these species are black damselflies with blue markings, and they differ from all other Nososticta by having: 1) a prominent spike on the male superior appendage, 2) a prominent angular base of the male inferior appendage, and 3) a complex posterior lobe on the female pronotum bearing two pairs of processes in the rough shape of a chair when viewed laterally. A molecular phylogeny based on the DNA barcode fragment of the COI gene plus two nuclear genes indicates that these seven species are closely related, but more extensive sampling of Nososticta species is required to confirm that they form a monophyletic group.

The life cycle of Andricus truncicolus (Giraud, 1869), a species previously known only from its asexual generation, is closed. Laboratory rearing and field sampling have revealed the sexual generation of this species, which develops in a hypertrophic degeneration of the terminal or lateral shoot buds appearing as a muddled agglomerate of leaves on Quercus, section Cerris oaks. We describe for the first time the newly discovered sexual generation of A. truncicolus and provide illustrations and diagnosis for adults and galls of both generations, further observations on biology and information on the species distribution.

A new mealybug species, Ceroputo liquidambaris Zhang & Watson sp. n. (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae), collected on leaves and branches of Liquidambar formosana (Altingiaceae), is described and illustrated from Jiangxi, China. The new species differs from all other known species of Ceroputo in having dorsal multilocular disc pores. Notes on some aspects of Ceroputo pilosellae Šulc collected in China and a key to the adult females of Ceroputo species are provided.

Sexual dimorphism in Elaphidion scabricolle (Bates, 1872) (Cerambycidae, Cerambycinae, Elaphidiini) is reported and the inclusion of the species in this genus is questioned. Leptostylus bicolor sp. nov. (Cerambycidae, Lamiinae, Acanthocinini) is described from Panama. Leptostylus pygialis Bates, 1872 is redescribed based on a female with an elytral pubescent pattern different from that of the lectotype; the sex of the lectotype, originally reported as female is commented on. Notes are provided on Lophopoeum saronotum Bates, 1872 (Cerambycidae, Lamiinae, Acanthocinini). Distenia (Basisvallis) phaeocera Bates, 1880 (Disteniidae) is recorded from Panama and Drycothaea sallei Thomson, 1868 (Cerambycidae, Lamiinae, Calliini) is recorded from Mexico (Chiapas) and Honduras.

Argia koroivarum sp. nov. (BRAZIL, Minas Gerais state, São Roque de Minas, Parque Nacional Serra da Canastra, 9.iv.2019, (-20.2323, -46.6084, 1306m asl), D.S. Vilela, R. Guillermo, R. Koroiva leg., Laboratory of Ecological Studies on Ethology and Evolution (LESTES), Uberaba, Minas Gerais State, Brazil) is described, illustrated, and diagnosed based on specimens collected in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The new species can be diagnosed from its congeners by the morphology of male ligula, dorsal branch of paraproct, and of female mesostigmal lobes.

The linyphiid spider Dietrichia hesperia was described from California in 1933 by Crosby and Bishop. The genus was renamed to Neodietrichia in 2008 by Özdikmen since Dietrichia was already occupied by a fossil bivalve. Until now, this rarely collected arboreal spider was the sole member of Neodietrichia. Herein we revise the genus by redescribing Neodietrichia hesperia (Crosby and Bishop, 1933), transferring Lophomma depressum (Emerton, 1882) to Neodietrichia as Neodietrichia depressum n. comb., and provide the first description of the female of this species.

The identity of Capsus bimaculatus Fabricius, 1803 is revised, as well as the varieties described by Berg (1892): Cal. (Par.) bimaculatus typicus, Cal. (Par.) bimaculatus vittatus, and Cal. (Par.) bimaculatus niger. The examination of all the bibliographies treating these names as well their type specimens resulted in the selection of a lectotype for C. bimaculatus, the synonymization of the three varieties described by Berg, selecting Taedia typica (Berg, 1892) as the valid name, and other taxonomic problems traced during the revision process are addressed.

Tomosomus Motschulsky, 1855, an obscure incertae sedis genus of Anthicidae erroneously considered monotypic, was found to be congeneric with the tomoderine genus Holcopyge Champion, 1890. A new genus-rank synonym (Tomosomus Motschulsky = Holcopyge Champion syn. nov.) and two new combinations are proposed for the species hitherto attributed to Holcopyge. Tomosomus subtestaceus Motschulsky, 1855, the type of its genus, is redescribed from rediscovered type material and recently collected specimens. An annotated checklist, key to species and new records of Tomosomus are provided.

Falciconus hispanicus sp. n. and Monoctonus montenegrinus sp. n. are described as new members of the subtribe Monoctonina from Spain and from high mountain habitats of Montenegro, respectively. The main diagnostic characters of the newly described species and their host plant-host aphid associations are discussed.

To date, Obesoconnus Jałoszyński is known to occur in French Guiana, Mexico and Costa Rica. Here, two new species, O. asymmetricus sp. n. and O. pallidus sp. n., are reported to occur in Thailand. Scydmaenine genera showing a similar distribution are discussed, and since the ‘Alloraphes/Stenichnodes group’, to which Obesoconnus belongs, is known to occur in Neotropical, Afrotropical and Oriental regions, it is possible that in the future the genus may be discovered also in tropical Africa.

The Macaronesian species of the muscid genus Helina are revised. The genus is represented in the Canary Islands by 9 species, in Madeira by 7 species, and in the Azores Islands by 1 species. Four species, one divided in two subspecies, are endemic to the Canary Islands: Helina grancanariae sp. nov. (Gran Canaria), H. obscurisquama obscurisquama (Stein) (Tenerife, La Gomera), H. obscurisquama pseudonivalis (Santos Abréu) ssp. rev. (La Palma), H. rufitibialis Hennig (Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma) and H. santosabreui sp. nov. (La Gomera, La Palma). The following three species are endemic to Madeira: Helina atlantica (Tiensuu), H. lundbladi Tiensuu and H. vilissima Hennig. Existing records of Helina almeriensis (Strobl) and H. quadrum (Fabricius) from the Canary Islands are considered as misidentifications. An identification key to males and females concludes the species accounts. Finally, a description is given of the previously unknown male sex of the endemic Madeiran Spilogona maderensis Michelsen.

The Florida State Collection of Arthropods (FSCA) is one of the top insect collections in the United States with in excess of eight million curated specimens and significant amounts of materials in bulk collections and other unprocessed samples. The subphylum Myriapoda currently comprises approximately 17,500 species in the four classes Diplopoda, Chilopoda, Symphyla, and Pauropoda. The FSCA houses type material in the Diplopoda orders Callipodida, Chordeumatida, Glomeridesmida, Julida, Polydesmida, Polyzoniida, Siphonophorida, Spirobolida, and Spirostreptida. This catalog documents the FSCA primary type material for 74 species in 45 genera in 25 families and nine orders within Diplopoda.

Two new species of soldier beetles of the genus Podistra Motschulsky, 1839 are described from the vicinity of Mount Elbrus, Caucasus: P. (s. str.) elbrusensis sp. nov. and P. (s. str.) davidyani sp. nov. The total number of Podistra known in the Greater Caucasus is thus raised to seventeen. It is noted that, unlike other cantharids, most species of Podistra of the area are flightless and have reduced elytra either in females or in both sexes. Correlation between altitude and elytral length in Podistra, as well as distribution of the genus in the Greater Caucasus is discussed. A key to all species of this mountain range, with illustrations and a distribution map are provided.

A new species, Potamocypris kusuokai sp. nov., is described based on males and females collected from Kitadaitojima, the northern-most of the Daito Islands, part of the Nansei Island archipelago in southwestern Japan. In addition, four other non-marine ostracod species found during sampling of the Daito Islands are reported, and these, together with the new species, are the first non-marine ostracods to be recorded from these remote Pacific islands. Potamocypris sudzukii Okubo, 1992, described from female specimens collected from Okinawa and Kuroshima, also part of the Nansei Islands, is redescribed based on a paratype specimen. This species is transferred to the genus Siamopsis Savatenalinton, 2017, which previously was only known from Thailand, extending the known distribution of the genus eastwards by about 2500 km. Plesiocypridopsis arsenia (Tressler, 1937), from the Philippines, is also transferred to Siamopsis, based on its original description. An overview of the current state of knowledge of non-marine ostracods of the Nansei Islands is provided.

A small collection of chirostyloid squat lobsters was studied, collected from seamounts on the Nishi-Shichito, West Mariana, and Central Mariana ridges, which have been collectively designated as marine protected areas (MPAs) of Japan. Specimens were collected using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Four species belonging to three families were identified, of which two are new to science: Uroptychus medius n. sp. (Chirostylidae), Eumunida smithii Henderson, 1885, E. treguieri de Saint Laurent & Poupin, 1996 (Eumunididae), and Sternostylus spiniger n. sp. (Sternostylidae). Identities of those species were assessed using an integrative approach based on morphological comparison and genetic analysis of two mitochondrial markers (COI and 16S rRNA genes). The two species of Eumunida represent the first records from Japanese waters.

We describe and illustrate four new subspecies of Papilionoidea butterflies which were collected from Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang province, southern Vietnam between 2006 and 2017. These are papilionid Graphium antiphates matsui T. Saito & Vu subspec. nov.; Nymphalidae: Tanaecia julii duc T. Saito & Vu, subspec. nov.; Cynitia lepidea phuquoca T. Saito & Vu, subspec. nov.; and Bassarona teuta anh T. Saito & Vu, subspec. nov.

Astyloplatum luteolum n. gen. et n. sp., is described, as a new monospecific genus from the eastern slope of the Colombian Andes, of the middle and highlands of the departments of Boyacá and Santander. This new taxon is distinguished by its yellowish coloration and the lack of articulated stylli on the male subgenital plate; this character converges with several taxa unrelated to the tribe Gryllacridini in which Astyloplatum n. gen. is placed. The convergence of characters in gryllacridines, diversity, complement of the current classification, and the importance of the phallic complex for the delimitation of genera and species are discussed.

Tricliona Lefèvre, 1885 n. syn. is a new junior synonym of Bathseba Motschulsky, 1866. Bathseba syzygium n. sp., a pest of Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels (Myrtaceae) in south India, is described and illustrated. Bathseba bifasciata (Jacoby, 1895) n. comb. is redescribed and illustrated. Bathseba bengalensis (Jacoby, 1908) n. syn. is synonymized with B. indica (Jacoby, 1900). Cleoporus variegatus Jacoby, 1904 is transferred to Bathseba and Tricliona subdepressa Jacoby, 1908 n. syn. is treated as its synonym. Tricliona foveipennis Bryant, 1950 is transferred to Gressittella Medvedev, 2009. Mangifera indica L. and Anacardium occidentale L. (both Anacardiaceae) are reported as host plants of B. bifasciata for the first time.

Six genera with 35 species of fungal spore feeding idolothripine thrips included in the subtribe Macrothripina of the tribe Pygothripini are recognised from Southeast Asia to Taiwan. In which one genus and 21 species are newly described: Aesthesiothrips breviconus sp. n., A. elongatus sp. n., Celidothrips floresi, sp. n., Ethirothrips colossus, sp. n., E. conopygus sp. n., E. dalatae sp. n., E. duricaudus sp. n., E. kasetsarti sp. n., E. longiceps sp. n., E. malaya sp. n., E. oculus sp. n., E. ommatus sp. n., E. puiensis sp. n., E. quadratus sp. n., E. saigon sp. n., E. setosus sp. n., E. tenuis sp. n., E. terminalis sp. n., E. thai sp. n., Fernothrips femoralis gen. et sp. n., Polytrichothrips malayanus sp. n., and two species are redescribed: E. longisetis and E. rubeus. Moreover, five species of two genera are newly recorded from Southeast Asia: E. brevis from Indonesia and Thailand, E. longisetis from Laos, E. obscurus from Indonesia and Thailand, E. rubeus from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, and Ischyrothrips crassus from Thailand. Generic definitions of two genera, Aesthesiothrips and Ethirothrips, are re-examined. Five keys are provided for: 12 Macrothripina genera from Asia, three Aestethiothrips species, two Celidothrips species from Southeast Asia, 26 Ethirothrips species from Southeast Asia to Taiwan, and three Polytrichothrips species.

Three new species of spiders belonging to the genera Oedignatha Thorell, 1881 and Paratus Simon, 1898 of the family Liocranidae Simon, 1897 are described from China and Nepal: Oedignatha shaanxi sp. nov. (female only; Shaanxi, China), Paratus bagmati sp. nov. (male only; Bagmati, Nepal), and P. ledong sp. nov. (both sexes; Hainan, China). In addition, Liocranidae is reported from Nepal for the first time.

Phaegopterina moths comprise approximately 750 species recorded in Brazil. In the Cerrado, there are 254 recorded species, while in the Amazon region there are 469. In this study we present an annotated catalogue of species distribution for the Phaegopterina subtribe, recorded in the state of Maranhão for 11 municipalities. After examining the material and reviewing the bibliography, we developed a catalogue containing 119 species within 59 genera of Phaegopterina, of which 26 species are newly recorded for Maranhão, Brazil. The continuous inventory of Arctiinae for Maranhão will contribute to the identification and understanding of the diversity of Lepidoptera present in the region between the Cerrado and Amazon biomes.

Based on literature review, curatorial work in national and international collections, information available on online databases, and field work conducted from 2017 to 2022, we provide the first checklist for the family Notodontidae in Colombia. A total of 515 species (51 endemics), 122 genera, 7 subfamilies as well as 108 new records for Colombia are presented. These data position Colombia as the country with the third highest diversity of prominent moths in the world, based on current knowledge. Furthermore, 239 known hostplants are listed for 91 species. The distribution map of the family shows the highest concentration of national records in the Andean and Pacific regions. Future surveys in less explored zones, long-term monitoring, expansion and maintenance of biological collections, and working collaboratively with communities will surely increase the known diversity as well as the conservation of prominent moths in Colombia.

New Chinese Palpifer species are described from Yunnan and Fujian provinces. The male of Palpifer nielseni sp. n. is described from specimens housed at the Witt Museum Weiden and the Zoologisches Forschungsmuseum Alexander Koenig, while a male of P. chui sp. n. and a male and female of Palpifer climoi sp. n., are described from specimens in the latter collection only. Specimens were originally part of the Franz Daniel collection, collected in 1934–1935 from elevations of 2,300 and 3,000 m. The new species are diagnosed primarily by differences in the male genitalia. The female genitalia of P. climoi sp. n. represent the second published description for Palpifer. Four unique features of the forewing supporting monophyly of Palpifer are discussed.

Two new genera of freshwater crabs (Potamidae) are recorded from northern Vietnam, Tortomon Huang, Wang & Shih, 2020, and Aiyunamon Pan, Ng & Sun, 2022. These genera had previously only been reported from southern China and eastern Myanmar. Each genus is represented by a new species. Tortomon distinctum n. sp. is markedly different from its two Chinese congeners in its proportionately wider carapace, more elongate third maxilliped, the carpus of the cheliped being armed only with a low tubercle, possessing relatively more slender and longer ambulatory legs, a gently curved male first gonopod and a more elongate male second gonopod. Aiyunamon vietnamicum n. sp. is distinct from its five congeners in its proportionately less convex dorsal surface of the carapace, relatively lower epigastric cristae, lower rugosities of the postorbital cristae, wider median lobe of the posterior margin of the epistome, relatively narrower male pleon, and a male first gonopod that has the terminal segment more distinctly curved with a wider concavity on the outer margin of the subterminal segment.

Plastocerus angulosus (Germar, 1844) is one of the only two species of genus Plastocerus Schaum, 1852 within the monogeneric click beetle tribe Plastocerini. It is distributed in the area comprising Greece, Turkey, Syria, Israel, and Lebanon (first record for Lebanon published here). Due to the slightly modified morphology of P. angulosus, this taxon has a convoluted taxonomic history and was earlier classified in various families and even superfamilies. However, recent phylogenies place it in Elateridae: Dendrometrinae. In this study, we review the morphology, intraspecific morphological and genetic variability, sexual dimorphism, systematics, bibliography, and distribution of P. angulosus. Our results show rather low morphological and relatively high genetic variability in this species. Females, which are larger than males and differ mainly in the antennae and abdominal ventrites, are not so rare as previously thought. Further field research should focus on the discovery of immature stages to describe their morphology and understand their biology and ecology.

Taxa of the genus Ceriodaphnia Dana, 1853 (Cladocera: Daphniidae) are ubiquitous in temperate and tropical lakes, and the taxonomy of the genus is confused. Moreover, present keys are often regional and insufficient for the taxonomic assignment of species at a global scale. This communication is aimed at improving our understanding of the C. dubia s.l. species group. We redescribe C. dubia s.l. from Northern Eurasia and describe a new species from Central Yakutia (Eastern Siberia, Russia). In contrast to typical members of the C. dubia group, C. nikolaii sp.nov. has the postabdomen of the parthenogenetic female with preanal margin slightly or strongly projecting and angulated. Moreover, adult males have a pronounced preanal angle and sensory seta of antenna I which is shorter than the longest easthetasc. Our finding challenges current definitions of species groups in Ceriodaphnia. Indeed, a postabdomen shape with a strongly projected preanal angle is characterstic of another group of this genus, namely the C. laticaudata-group. We found a taxon that combines the diagnostic morphological characters of two species groups. Further development of the genus taxonomy must be accompanied by redescriptions of all well-accepted and dubious taxa from their type localities and revisions of populations from other localities of the world.

Pseudotyphistes deinceps Cajade n. sp. is described from Uruguay based on males and females. Illustrations of somatic and sexual characters and a distribution map of the species is provided. In addition, new records of Pseudotyphistes pennatus Brignoli, 1972 for the country are presented. Data of the natural history and conservation status of both species are discussed.

The taxonomy of the South American metalmark butterflies of the genus Alesa Doubleday, 1847 is reviewed. A new taxonomic arrangement for Alesa is supported after the analysis of about 600 specimens, including the recognition of two new species, described herein, A. juliae sp. nov. and A. mariae sp. nov.. Alesa negra Röber, 1931, so far recognized as a junior subjective synonym of A. telephae (Boisduval, 1836), is here recognized as a valid species (stat. rev.) and A. amethystina Gallard & Fernandez, 2015 as a junior subjective synonym (syn. nov.) of A. negra, and A. fournierae Lathy, 1958 is recognized as a junior subjective synonym (syn. nov.) of A. amesis (Cramer, 1777). Neotypes are designated for Papilio amesis Cramer, 1777, Erycina prema Godart, [1824] and Mimocastinia egeria Biedermann, 1936. Lectotypes are designated for Erycina priolas Godart, [1824], Eurybia telephae Boisduval, 1836, A. smaragdifera Westwood, 1851, A. lipara Bates, 1868, A. hemiurga Bates, 1868, A. thelydrias Bates, 1868, and Mimocastnia rothschildi Seitz, 1913. Three previously established species groups are here supported by morphological characters including the following species, “prema group”: A. prema, A. esmeralda Salazar & Constantino, 2007, A. beneluzi Gallard & Fernandez, 2015, A. rothschildi and A. juliae sp. nov.; “telephae group”: A. telephae, A. humilis Brévignon, 2015, A. negra stat. rev. and A. suzana Ahrenholz & Hall, 2010; and “amesis group”: A. amesis, A. mariae sp. nov., A. lipara Bates, 1867, A. hemiurga Bates, 1867 and A. thelydrias Bates, 1867. Adults and their genitalia are illustrated for all species available to examination. The main diagnostic characters used to distinguish the species belonging to the “amesis group” are illustrated, and pictures of adults images in situ and distribution maps are provided. Additionally, all species are diagnosed and discussed based on their morphology.

The Diptera fauna of the Galápagos Archipelago is updated and an annotated checklist is presented. Currently 50 families, 207 genera, and a minimum of 324 species are recorded from the islands. Approximately 107 species are considered to have arrived on the Galápagos Islands through human introductions, an estimated 101 species are considered endemic, 42 species have naturally colonized the islands from mainland Americas, 21 species are either introduced or arrived naturally and 53 species remain unidentified. The following new combination is proposed: Chrysanthrax primitivus (Walker) is moved to Hemipenthes Loew as H. primitivus (Walker) comb. nov. All references to the Galápagos taxonomic literature are included, known island species distributions listed and general remarks on the biology of many species are provided.

The parasitoid wasp genus Trichacis Förster is revised for Europe. Examination of historical and modern collections combined with DNA barcoding revealed the presence of only a single species in Europe, Trichacis tristis (Nees, 1834), redescribed here. Fourteen new synonymies are proposed for T. tristis: T. abdominalis Thomson, 1859 syn.nov.; T. bidentiscutum Szabó, 1981 syn.nov.; T. didas (Walker, 1835) syn.nov.; T. fusciala Szabó, 1981 syn.nov.; T. hajduica Szabó, 1981 syn.nov.; T. illusor Kieffer, 1916 syn.nov.; T. nosferatus Buhl, 1997 syn.nov.; T. pisis (Walker, 1835) syn.nov.; T. persicus Asadi & Buhl, 2021 syn.nov.; T. pulchricornis Szelényi, 1953 syn.nov.; T. quadriclava Szabó, 1981 syn.nov.; T. remulus (Walker, 1835) syn.nov.; T. vitreus Buhl, 1997 syn.nov.; T. weiperti Buhl, 2019 syn.nov.. Four species are transferred to Amblyaspis Förster: A. afurcata (Szabó, 1977) comb. nov., A. hungarica (Szabó, 1977), comb. nov., A. pannonica (Szabó, 1977) comb. nov., and A. tatika (Szabó, 1977) comb. nov. Intraspecific variation, biological associations, and taxonomic history are discussed. DNA barcodes are provided and analyzed in the context of worldwide Trichacis and its sister genus Isocybus Förster.

The knowledge of the solitary Vespidae of Uzbekistan is very poor and a preliminary list of species is provided. The list contains 105 species of 34 genera: seven species of three genera in the subfamily Masarinae, 96 species of 29 genera in Eumeninae s. str., one species in Raphiglossinae and one in Zethinae. Among them, eight genera and 27 species are reported from Uzbekistan for the first time; their label data and general distribution are reported. New synonymies are proposed: Leptochilus (Lionotulus Blüthgen, 1938) = L. (Neoleptochilus Blüthgen, 1961), syn. nov. = L. (Sarochilus Gusenleitner, 1970), syn. nov.; Leptochilus (Lionotulus) crassiceps (Kostylev, 1940) = L. (L.) flavicornis Giordani Soika, 1970, syn. nov.; Euodynerus (Pareuodynerus) cylindriventris (Kostylev, 1935) = E. (P.) distinctus (Kostylev, 1935), syn. nov.; Eustenancistrocerus (Eustenancistrocerus) askhabadensis (Radoszkowski, 1886) = E. (E.) jerichoensis (von Schulthess, 1928), syn. nov. = E. (E.) askhabadensis danticoides (Giordani Soika, 1943), syn. nov. = E. (E.) jerichoensis iconius Blüthgen, 1957, syn. nov. The synonymy of Eumenes (Eumenes) sareptanus André, 1884 with E. (E.) crimensis Blüthgen, 1938 is rejected. A nest of Stenodynerus chitgarensis Giordani Soika, 1970 is briefly described for the first time; it consisted of a constructed mud cell, with a turret-like entrance, attached to a subvertical surface of a stone. Bionomical observations on some other species are reported including prey records for three species, flower-visiting records for nine species, a sleeping aggregation of two species, and a Strepsiptera parasite of one species.

Two new pseudoscorpion species, Stenohya dongtianensis sp. nov. and S. jiahensis sp. nov., from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, are described and illustrated. An identification key is provided for all known representatives of the genus Stenohya from China.

Beckidia Sæther, 1979, Kloosia Kruseman, 1933, Parachironomus Lenz, 1921 and Saetheria Jackson, 1977 of the Harnischia complex are four newly recorded genera in India. Beckidia inflata sp. n., Kloosia incurva sp.n., Parachironomus salsus sp.n., Saetheria circinata sp.n., and Harnischia bulbosa sp.n. are described and illustrated. Microchironomus ishii Sasa, 1987, as a new record, is re-described and illustrated based on males. Three species, Paracladopelma nigrotibia (Bhattacharya, Dutta & Chaudhuri, 1985), Cryptotendipes acutus (Goetghebuer, 1936), and Saetheria sacculifera (Chaudhuri & Chattopadhyay, 1990) are proposed here as new combinations. Other Indian species of little known genera within the Harnischia complex are also re-examined and synonymisation is made. Molecular barcodes of five new species Beckidia inflata sp.n., Kloosia incurva sp.n., Parachironomus salsus sp.n., Saetheria circinata sp.n., and Harnischia bulbosa sp.n. and three known species of the Harnischia complex are also provided. Separate world keys of adult males of five genera are also designed here.

The taxonomy of the neotropical saucer bug genus Australambrysus Reynoso & Sites, 2021 is poorly understood. Although 24 species have been described, the genus is in need of revision and many new species await description. A clade of species of Australambrysus exhibits a similar appression of the propleura to the prosternum as do species of the North American Ambrysus Stål, 1862 subgenus Syncollus La Rivers, 1965. Three new species in this clade are described here: Australambrysus aguaro n.sp., A. alvarado n.sp., and A. clavieri n.sp. In addition, Australambrysus planus plax (La Rivers, 1967) is elevated to species level, and thus becomes A. plax n.stat.

The zeylanica group is one of the six species groups of the anthophilic genus Colocasiomyia de Meijere in the family Drosophilidae. In addition to two known species, five morphospecies have been recognized as members of this species group but left undescribed formally. In this study, species delimitation of these putatively new species was determined by barcoding of the mitochondrial COI (cytochrome c oxydase subunit I) gene and morphological comparison. Phylogenetic relationships within the genus Colocasiomyia were inferred by a cladistic analysis of 89 morphological characters. Based on the results of these analyses, we redefined the zeylanica species group and established two subgroups within it: the zeylanica subgroup comprised of C. zeylanica, C. nepalensis, C. pinangae sp. nov., C. besaris sp. nov. and C. luciphila sp. nov., and the oligochaeta subgroup of C. oligochaeta sp. nov. and C. grimaldii sp. nov. In addition, we briefly address the anthophilic habits of drosophilid flies using palm (Arecaceae) inflorescences, especially of the zeylanica group, compiling scattered collection records from the Oriental and Papuan regions.

In this study, the genus Sorolopha Lower, 1901 in Japan was reviewed with five species including three that are described herein as new: S. sugiurai Sakagami, sp. nov., S. viridis Sakagami, sp. nov., and S. baribaris Sakagami, sp. nov. Adults of S. sugiurai and S. baribaris emerged from leaf shelters of Actinodaphne acuminata (Lauraceae). Larvae of S. viridis feed on young leaves of Illicium anisatum (Schisandraceae). S. viridis is known from Honshu and Yakushima Island, S. baribaris from Honshu and Kyushu, and S. sugiurai only from Honshu (Wakayama Prefecture). Diagnoses, biological information, and images of the adults, and male and female genitalia are provided.

Type specimens of 42 taxa of Phasmatodea (including probable type specimens of 14 taxa) have been located in the Eidgenössisches Technisches Hochschulzentrum, Zürich. The species are listed alphabetically, with the number of specimens, sex and locality data. Some minor taxonomic changes are proposed: 1 new combination, 1 revised combination, 2 lectotype designations.

Some new findings of the family Pamphagidae obtained in the field trips carried out in Turkey are presented. New distributional, morphological, and zoogeographical information are given for the recorded 15 species and subspecies. A new species Nocaracris nebulosa Ünal, sp. nov. and the unknown male of Nocaracris tauricola Ramme, 1951 are described.

The Cis tricornis species-group is restricted to the American continent and has five described species, one Nearctic and four Neotropical. Here we describe two new Neotropical species of the group: Cis caipora Borlini & Lopes-Andrade sp. nov. (Costa Rica); and Cis guarani Borlini & Lopes-Andrade sp. nov. (South and Southeast regions of Brazil).

Two new species of the genus Putaoa Hormiga and Tu, 2008 from southern China are described, Putaoa annulata n. sp. (♂♀) and Putaoa titanoverpa n. sp. (♂♀), for a total number of five described species in this genus. Detailed descriptions and illustrations of the two new species are provided. A map of collecting localities is also provided for all five Putaoa species.

The taxon Tenuibaetis Kang & Yang (in Kang, Chang & Yang) 1994 is accepted here as a subgenus of the genus Baetis Leach 1815, but not as a genus. In connection with this, new combinations are established: Baetis (Tenuibaetis) parvipterus (Fujitani et al. 2011) comb. n., Baetis (Tenuibaetis) fujitanii (Kaltenbach & Gattolliat 2019) comb. n., Baetis (Tenuibaetis) himani (Kubendran et al. in Kubendran et al. 2022) comb. n., Baetis (Tenuibaetis) kangi (Kubendran et al. in Kubendran et al. 2022) comb. n. and Baetis (Tenuibaetis) panhai (Suttinun et al. 2022) comb. n. Based on reared material, imagines of both sexes and larvae of Baetis (Tenuibaetis) ursinus Kazlauskas 1963, Baetis (Tenuibaetis) hissaricus Novikova 1991, Baetis (Tenuibaetis) frequentus Müller-Liebenau & Hubbard 1985 (= Indobaetis michaelohubbardi Selva-kumar et al. 2012, syn. n.) and B. (T.) fujitanii are redescribed. B. (T.) panhai is redescribed based on subimago reared from larva. Two new species from Southern India, Baetis (Tenuibaetis) kaltenbachi sp. n. and Baetis (Tenuibaetis) bialatus sp. n. are described based on imagines reared from larvae. A new species from Thailand, Baetis (Tenuibaetis) octomaculatus sp. n. is described based on imagines reared from larvae.

The ant genus Aphaenogaster Mayr, 1853 is especially diverse in the West-Palearctic region, where its taxonomy is still problematic for several groups. Among other issues, there is a redundancy of valid taxa compared to the number of species whose validity is currently sustained by any evidence. Names that do not represent taxa with clearly defined identities complicate specimen identification and add confusion to biodiversity databases and checklists. Based on a review of the available literature information on several taxa, and the study of both type and non-type material, the following taxonomic changes are proposed: i) A. mauritanica Dalla Torre, 1893 should be considered a senior synonym of A. gibbosa homonyma Emery, 1921 syn. nov. and of A. foreli Cagniant, 1996 syn. nov. (the Maghrebian populations of the pallida group hitherto considered to represent A. foreli should be attributed to A. dulcineae Emery, 1924); ii) A. pallida (Nylander, 1849) should be considered a senior synonym of A. leveillei Emery, 1881 syn. nov. and of A. leveillei laurenti Santschi, 1939 syn. nov.; iii) A. sangiorgii (Emery, 1901) should be considered a senior synonym of A. finzii Müller, 1921 syn. nov. and A. radchenkoi Kiran & Tezcan, 2008 syn. nov.; iv) A. sardoa Mayr, 1853 should be considered a senior synonym of A. sardoa ujhelyii Szabó, 1910 syn. nov. and A. sardoa anoemica Santschi, 1910 syn. nov.; v) A. subterraneosplendida André, 1883 should be considered a senior synonym of A. sicula Emery, 1908 syn. nov.; vi) A. subterraneoides Emery, 1881 should be considered a senior synonym of A. subterraneoides armeniaca Arnol’di, 1968 syn. nov. These changes will reduce the gap between nomenclature and actual understanding of species diversity, while synonymized names may be resurrected if supporting evidence is discovered.
