The paper-based analytical device (PAD) was applied in this study to analyze the antioxidant activity of Danhong injection and its intermediates. First polycaprolactone was printed on the surface of a filter paper with a 3D printing device. The modified filter paper was then prepared using polycaprolactone and solid paraffin as the modifiers. The PAD was prepared after adding DPPH ethanol solution to the modified filter paper. Ascorbic acid solutions with different concentrations were used as the positive drug on PAD. After the occurrence of color reactions, the PAD was dried, and the data of color were collected by a cell phone. The color component G and grayscale were selected as the potential indices for measurement according to the values of determination coefficients, detection limits, and effective number of digits. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of Danhong injection and the concentrate of aqueous extract were realized with the PAD. Because no significant differences were observed between the results obtained using the two potential indices, the average values of these two were used for analysis, and the antioxidant activity of Danhong injection and the concentrate of aqueous extract was equivalent to ascorbic acid solutions of 3.7, 46 g·L⁻¹, respectively. The aim of this study is to identify the present status of the scientific and technological personnel in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) resource science. Based on the data from Chinese scientific research paper, an investigation regarding the number of the personnel, the distribution, their output of paper, their scientific research teams, high-yield authors and high-cited authors was conducted. The study covers seven subfields of traditional Chinese medicine identification, quality standard, Chinese medicine cultivation, harvest processing of TCM, market development and resource protection and resource management, as well as 82 widely used Chinese medicine species, such as Ginseng and Radix Astragali. One hundred and fifteen domain authority experts were selected based on the data of high-yield authors and high-cited authors. The database system platform "Skilled Scientific and Technological Personnel in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine Resource Science-Chinese papers" was established. This platform successfully provided the retrieval result of the personnel, output of paper, and their core research team by input the study field, year, and Chinese medicine species. The investigation provides basic data of scientific and technological personnel in the field of traditional Chinese medicine resource science for administrative agencies and also evidence for the selection of scientific and technological personnel and construction of scientific research teams.

This method was applied for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of 12 kinds of products processed with honey. The method is simple, convenient, objective in qualification and accurate in qualification, thus suitable for quality control of product processed with honey.

Objective: To study the influence of different factors (temperature, light and germinating beds) on seed germination of Codonopsis tangshen., Method: The general germination method was applied., Result and Conclusion: The optimum seed germination conditions of C. tangshen were as follows: temperature 25 degrees C, light, germinating-beds top of paper (TP) or between of paper (BP). The first seedling--counting time was the 10th day after beginning the test; the final time was the 18th day. The test also showed that gibberellin notably increased the seed germination rate of C. tangshen.

Objective: To provide application basis of the Forsythia suspensa by studying the difference of HPLC-FP of F. suspensa fructification (medicinal materials)., Method: Comparative work was done on F. suspensa produced in different areas, on different parts of Forsythia suspensa, and on the pseudo preducts with methods of HPLC-FP., Result: Different FP characteristics were shown respectively by different samples, which were from different producing areas, from different parts, and the pseudo products including the fructification of Syringa reticulata var. and F. viridissimac., Conclusion: The FP can be used to distinguish the F. suspensa coming from different producing areas and different sources.

TLC and PC have been used in the qualitative study of huaijiao wan. The contents of the total flavones and volatile oils in huaijiao wan have been determined. The proposed method can be used to control the quality of huaijiao wan.

The extracellular polysaccharide from the filtrate of fungal fermentation of Mortierella hepiali, a fungus isolated from traditional Chinese crude drug Cordyceps sinesis, is made up of three sugar components, glucose, mannose and galactose, which are detected by paper and gas chromatography. Both molar ratio and contents of the polysaccharide are determined by the internal standard method.

Polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources are a kind of polymers extracted from medicinal plants. They are complex long chains formed by different monosaccharides connected via glucosidic bonds. These polysaccharides usually have straight chain and branched chain structures, and their relative molecular weight changes greatly. Modern studies have shown that the biological activi-ty of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources is closely related to their relative molecular weight. This paper first reviewed the preparation and detection methods of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources with different relative molecular weights. Then, the paper summarized and analyzed the general experience of the correlation between efficacy and relative molecular weight of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources with different molecular weights. It was considered that polysaccharides with large relative molecular weights(>100 kDa) play a leading role in immune regulation. Polysaccharides with medium relative molecular weights(10-100 kDa) play a leading role in immune regulation and the protection of the liver. Polysaccharides with small relative molecular weights(<10 kDa) play a leading role in anti-oxidation, regulation of intestinal flora, regulation of blood glucose and lipids, anti-fatigue, and the protection of nerves. Therefore, precise development of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources based on relative molecular weight is expected to improve their biological activity and application value.
