A newly synthesized coordination polymer, [Cd(DMSO)(H2O)]3[Fe(CN)6]2 (CdHCF‐T), based on Cd2+ and Fe(CN)63− ions was prepared in a DMSO/H2O mixed solution and crystalized in the trigonal space group P‐31c. This novel 3D structure presented an interesting single‐crystal to single‐crystal transformation when the coordinated DMSO molecules were replaced by H2O, forming a well‐known Cd Prussian Blue analogue (Cd‐PBA). This occurrence is a rare phenomenon in transition metal hexacyanometallates and may provide a new strategy for obtaining new structures and overcoming the difficulty of growing single crystals of Prussian Blue analogues. Subsequent gas sorption and separation investigations based on the obtained Cd‐PBA were also carried out to evaluate its C2H2/CO2 separation capability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, two cadmium(II) coordination polymers [Cd(sdb)(bib)] n ( 1) and {[Cd2(pda)2(bib)2] ·0.5H2O} n ( 2) [H2sdb = 4,4′-sulfonyl-dicarboxylic acid, H2pda = 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid, and bib = 1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl) benzene] were synthesized and characterized by hydrothermal methods. Complex 1 displays a 3,5-connected topological net and complex 2 shows a 4-connected non-interpenetrated pcu framework. This paper describes the synthesis and structural characterization of two new one-dimensional coordination polymers involving 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane ligand named {(μ-NCS)2[Cu(bpp)] ·dmf} n ( 1) and {[Cu(mebpy)(bpp)(dmso)](ClO4)2 ·dmso} n ( 2) (bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane and mebpy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine). These compounds were characterized by means of elemental analysis, thermal analysis (TG/DTA), vibrational spectroscopy (IR and Raman) and had their structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 consists of CuN4 coordination spheres with bpp ligands in the unusual GG conformation coordinated in bridges between CuII centers to form a wavelike 1-D coordination polymer. On the other hand, in compound 2 the bpp ligand adopts the TT conformation in bridging mode extending the 1D cationic polymeric chain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reports the first systemic investigation on the bimetallic ring coordination polymers based on two structure-related flexible bis(imidazole) ligands, bimb as well as bix [bimb = 1, 4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-butane, bix = 1, 4-bis(imidazol-1-yl-methylene)-benzene)]. As expected, six new cobalt complexes were generated, namely, [Co2(SCN)4(bimb)2] ( 1), [Co2(L1)2(bimb)2Cl2] ( 2), [Co2(L2)4(bix)2] ( 3), [Co(SCN)2(bimb)2] ( 4), {Co[N(CN)2]2(bimb)2} ( 5), and [Co(L3)(bix)] ( 6) (HL1 = 4-aminobenzoic acid, HL2 = 4-nitrobenzoic acid, and H2L3 = succinic acid). The structures of 1- 3 are three discrete dinuclear ring motifs. Especially, 1 is the first example of 1D pseudo-polyrotaxane formed by S ···S strong interactions based on bis(imidazole) ligands. 4 and 5 exhibit 1D meso-helical chain architecture, in spite of their different space groups. In 6, the discrete dinuclear ring motifs, traversed by μ2-η3-chelating L3 anions, are interconnected by another μ2-η1-bridging L3 anions to form 2D (4, 4) network. The formation of these compounds should be undoubtedly attributed to the preference for cis-bis(imidazole) ligands crystallization resulting in various ring architectures. With Sharpless' and Meldal's discovery of the immensely supportive effect that metal catalysis has on Huisgen's classical 1, 3-dipolar cycloaddition, azides (RN3) - long underappreciated in organic synthesis - suddenly got in the focus of attention as most crucial players in sensational 'click chemistry'. Less noisy though with the same commitment and even a much broader scope of scientific topics and objectives, the inorganic azide chemistry has made just as great strides in the last few decades. This review (Part I) gives an introductory survey of the most important results, and informs about modern developments and general trends. Particular emphasis is placed on the recent successful approaches to highly unstable homoleptic azido metal complexes of the main group and early transition elements, as well as on the enormous structural versatility caused by the 'flexidentate' N3- ligand with its unsurpassed bridging capacities. The presentation in this paper of selected compounds and reactions is meant, in a way, as a prelude to the [3+2]-cycloadditions of metal azides and related species which will be covered in-depths in Part II. A large part of the comments finally deals with applications in fields such as catalysis, high explosive performance or magnetism of metal compounds containing azide, today certainly one of the most attractive research areas world-wide. Zinc and cadmium diphenate (dip, biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylate) coordination polymers containing conformationally flexible dipyridylamide ligands show diverse chain and layer topologies as determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. [Cd(dipH)2(bdin)]n (1) [bdin = N,N'-(butane-1,3-diyl)diisonicotinamide] shows a simple 1D zigzag chain structure. {[Cd(dip)(pdin)(H2O)]·1.25H2O}n (2) [pdin = N,N'-(propane-1,3-diyl)diisonicotinamide] shows bilayer slabs formed by interleaving of (4,4) rectangular grid layers. {[Zn2(dip)2(3-pna)2]· 3H2O}n (3) (3-pna = 3-pyridylnicotinamide) manifests a rare 4-con-nected 1D ribbon topology. {[Cd(dip)(4-ppbp)]·2H2O}n (4) [4-ppbp = propane-1,3-diylbis(piperidine-4,1-diyl)bis(pyridin-4-ylmethanone)] shows a 3,5-connected layer with (426)(42678) 3,5L2 topology. {[Zn4(dip)4(H2O)2(4-ppbp)2]·12H2O}n (5) exhibits 2D 3,6-connected layers with (43)2(466683) kgd topology featuring embedded R(8)A(2) classification 10-membered water clusters. Two zinc(II) and nickel(II) based coordination polymers, {[Zn(bibp)(MoO4)](H2O)2}n (1) [bibp = 4,4'-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-biphenyl] and [Ni2(CN)4(phen)2]n (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized and structurally characterized under solvothermal conditions. Compound 1 can be viewed as the connection of the 1D W-type chain [Zn(trans-bibp)] with the MoO42- anion to form a unin-odal 4-connected net, whereas 2 features one-dimensional NiII cyanide chains decorated either with linear Ni(CN)4 side chains or with 1,10-phenanthroline ligands bound directly to the NiII sites of the parent chain. In addition, in vitro anticancer activities of compounds 1 and 2 on four human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-468, SK-BR-3, and MCF7) was further determined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
