The digital economy and technologies play a key role in increasing competitiveness in countries, and it's more important for all societies. The aim of the article is to assess the development of the digital economy and society in Slovakia, but also to identify the key factors of the digital economy in Slovakia based on a bibliographic analysis of scientific empirical studies with the issue of digitization and readiness of countries from scientific journals from impacted databases from WoS. At the same time, a partial goal is to analyze the digital economy and society index (DESI) and assess its dependence over time using selected methods. The aim is therefore to find out whether between the investigated European existing relationships in the values of the DESI index and its dimensions in the years 2017-2022. The results of the correlation analysis showed that the development of the index and its dimensions changed only slowly over time, and therefore it is true that countries with a high level of digital economy will maintain this level in the coming years.
