Recommender Systems are mainly used in various e-commerce applications, especially online stores threatening users’ privacy. The privacy issues can be overcome by using security solutions, which include blockchain technology for privacy applications. The fusion of the Internet of Things and blockchain technology has fully improved modern distributed systems. The combination guarantees the safety and scalability of the recommender system. We aim to create an authorized secure exchange device using blockchain-enabled multiparty computation by adding smart contracts to the core blockchain protocol. The recommendation structure and Blockchain technology make online shopping more convenient and private. We propose a blockchain-related recommender system using the “movielens” data. The case study includes a smart contract model that recommends movies to buyers. Initially, we tested the model on a small “movielens dataset” and extended it to a 3M movielens dataset. We developed a classifier model for movielens and proposed a Dual light graph convolutional network for movielens data classification. Our results, including ablation analysis, show that blockchain strategies and Dual light graph convolutional networks can effectively improve recommender systems’ privacy. There is a growing need for recommender systems and other ML-based systems as an abundance of data is now available across all industries. Various industries are currently using recommender systems in slightly different ways. These programs utilize algorithms to propose appropriate products to consumers based on their prior choices and interactions. Moreover, Systems for recommending events to users suggest pertinent happenings that they might find interesting. As opposed to an object recommender that suggests books or movies; event-based recommender systems typically require distinct algorithms. A developed event recommendation method is introduced which includes two stages: feature extraction and recommendation. In stage, I, a Set of features like personal willingness, community willingness, informative content, edge weight, and node interest degree are extracted. Stage II of the event recommendation system performs a hybrid classification by combining LSTM and CNN. In the LSTM classifier, optimal tuning is done by Improvised Cat and Mouse optimization (ICMO) algorithm. The results of the ICMO technique at an 80% training percentage have the maximum sensitivity value of 95.19%, whereas those of the existing approaches SSA, DINGO, BOA, and CMBO have values of 93.89%, 93.35%, 92.36%, and 92.24%. User feedback data (e.g., clicks, dwell time in the product detail page) have been incorporated in the training process of many ranking models for better performance. Such approaches are widely used in many ranking applications, including search and recommendation. Recently, the inherent biases in user feedback data have been studied, which indicates how the users' behaviors can be affected by factors other than relevancy. By identifying and removing these biases, the ranking models can be further improved. Researchers have developed a variety of debiasing methods on different bias factors. Most of them only focus on one type of bias and pay little attention to different types of bias from a unified perspective. In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive study of bias focusing on the application of ranking problems in recommender systems which is highly important for the research of web intelligence. Then, we share our experiences derived from designing and optimizing unbiased models to improve feeds recommendation. To uncover the effects of biases and achieve better ranking performance, we propose several unbiased models and compare with state-of-the-art models. Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have been successfully used to learn user and item representations for Collaborative Filtering (CF) based recommendations (GNN-CF). Besides the main recommendation task in a GNN-CF model, contrastive learning is taken as an auxiliary task to learn better representations. Both the main task and the auxiliary task face the noise problem and the distilling hard negative problem. However, existing GNN-CF models only focus on one of them and ignore the other. Aiming to solve the two problems in a unified framework, we propose a Multi-Mixing strategy for GNN-based CF (M2GCF). In the main task, M2GCF perturbs embeddings of users, items and negative items with sample-noise by a mixing strategy. In the auxiliary task, M2GCF utilizes a contrastive learning mechanism with a two-step mixing strategy to construct hard negatives. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model. Customers of a webshop are often presented large assortments, which can lead to customers struggling finding their desired product(s), an issue known as choice overload. In order to overcome this issue, recommender systems are used in webshops to provide personalized product recommendations to customers. Though, model-based recommender systems are not able to provide recommendations to new customers (i.e., cold users). To facilitate recommendations to cold users we investigate multiple active learning strategies, and subsequently evaluate which active learning strategy is able to optimally elicit the preferences from the cold users in a matrix factorization context. Our model is empirically validated using a dataset from the webshop of de Bijenkorf, a Dutch department store. Recommender systems have been widely used in our life in recent years to facilitate our life. And it is very important and meaningful to improve recommendation performance. Generally, recommendation methods use users' historical ratings on items to predict ratings on their unrated items to make recommendations. However, with the increase of the number of users and items, the degree of data sparsity increases, and the quality of recommendations decreases sharply. In order to solve the sparsity problem, other auxiliary information is combined to mine users' preferences for higher recommendation quality. Similar to rating data, review data also contain rich information about users' preferences on items. This paper proposes a novel recommendation model, which harnesses an adversarial learning among auto-encoders to improve recommendation quality by minimizing the gap of the rating and review relation between a user and an item. This paper presents an application of sentiment analysis on customer feedback data in the area of heavy equipment repair services. Sentiment analysis is used as a part of a framework for text mining-based Customer Loyalty Improvement Recommender System (CLIRS). In order to provide business users of the system with accurate predictions for customer satisfaction metrics, the original algorithm for the opinion mining needed to be improved. The paper presents the background of the proposed approach, the current techniques used to mine text data and existing applications of sentiment analysis. We propose an aspect-based, taxonomy-driven approach for customized sentiment analysis. The contribution of this paper is the implementation and evaluation of the proposed methods that improve the accuracy and coverage of the opinion mining algorithm. The improvements are illustrated with examples covered by the algorithm in the customer dataset. The application of the proposed methods resulted in increasing the algorithm's accuracy from 92% to 96%, and coverage from 36% to 48%. This research is an attempt to handle well-known issues in natural language processing that are currently not handled by text mining algorithms, such as ambiguity and context, opinionated verbs/nouns, subject recognition from pronouns. The ultimate goal of recommender systems is to suggest appealing items that users are interested in. Traditional recommender systems are built based on a general consensus that users' preferences reflect their underlying interests. Therefore, various collaborative filtering techniques have been proposed to discover items that best match users' preferences through estimating ratings for items accurately. However, determining the interestingness of items based on user preferences alone is not sufficient. In human psychology, researchers have found an important intrinsic motivation, i.e., curiosity, for seeking interestingness in social context. Instead of focusing on users' preferences, curiosity highlights the impact of the unknown and unexpectedness on a person's feeling of interestingness. In light of this, we propose a novel recommendation model which recommends items by taking consideration of the target users' curiosity in addition to their personal preferences. To model user curiosity, we adopt a psychologically inspired approach and transpose Berlyne's theory of curiosity into a computational process. Three key curiosity-stimulating factors, including surprise, uncertainty and conflict, are modelled to estimate user's curiosity for each item. The proposed recommendation model is evaluated with two large-scale real world datasets and the experimental results highlight that the consideration of social curiosity significantly improves recommendation precision, coverage and diversity. Recommender Systems (RSs) are provided as web 2.0 services that give support to electronic commerce. Today, social information has been used for improving the performances of RSs. One of the popular social networks is Facebook which recently developed a new reaction button. This button provides new opportunists to analyze and understand the user's emotions and behavior. This paper proposes a new social-based RS that benefits from social information to improve the performance of the collaborative filtering. This RS depends on satisfaction degree and emotions of users. Each user can rate an item to express his satisfaction degree with this item. Also, the user able to express his feelings toward this item through the Facebook reaction button. The proposed algorithm is experimentally compared to alternative techniques. Recommender systems are pivotal components of modern Internet platforms and constitute a well-established research field. By now, research has resulted in highly sophisticated recommender algorithms whose further optimization often yields only marginal improvements. This paper goes beyond the commonly dominating focus on optimizing algorithms and instead follows the idea of enhancing recommender systems with reputation data. Since the concept of reputation-enhanced recommender systems has attracted considerable attention in recent years, the main aim of the paper is to provide a comprehensive survey of the approaches proposed so far. To this end, existing work is identified by means of a systematic literature review and classified according to seven carefully considered dimensions. Social Networks have experienced increased popularity and rapid growth in recent years. Recommendation is significant for users due to the extremely large amount of information in Social Networks. Most existing recommender systems rely on collaborative filtering techniques which focus on recommending the most relevant items to users based on past rating information of users or items. In Social Networks, the cold-start and data sparsity problems are very serious because new users and items are growing rapidly. Taking the Event Recommendation problem in Event-Based Social Networks as a scenario, many events are newly created and have few feedbacks. Existed collaborative filtering based methods will fail for Social Recommendation due to these problems. Therefore, a more sophisticated recommendation mechanism that can efficiently combine various contextual information to further improve recommendation quality is desired. In this paper, we propose a Context Aware Matrix Factorization model called CAMF which models implicit feedbacks and various contextual information simultaneously for Social Recommendation. Specifically, CAMF is a unified model that combines the Matrix Factorization model which models implicit feedbacks with the Linear Contextual Features model which models explicit contextual features. Extensive experiments on a large real-world dataset demonstrate that the CAMF model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods by 12.7% in terms of accuracy for the Event Recommendation problem. Making recommendations in the presence of sparsity is known to present one of the most challenging problems faced by collaborative filtering methods. In this work we tackle this problem by exploiting the innately hierarchical structure of the item space following an approach inspired by the theory of Decomposability. We view the itemspace as a Nearly Decomposable system and we define blocks of closely related elements and corresponding indirect proximity components. We study the theoretical properties of the decomposition and we derive sufficient conditions that guarantee full item space coverage even in coldstart recommendation scenarios. A comprehensive set of experiments on the MovieLens and the Yahoo!R2Music datasets, using several widely applied performance metrics, support our model's theoretically predicted properties and verify that NCDREC outperforms several state-of-the-art algorithms, in terms of recommendation accuracy, diversity and sparseness insensitivity. Tagging recommender systems allow Internet users to annotate resources with personalized tags. The connection among users, resources and these annotations, often called a folksonomy, permits users the freedom to explore tags, and to obtain recommendations. Releasing these tagging datasets accelerates both commercial and research work on recommender systems. However, tagging recommender systems has been confronted with serious privacy concerns because adversaries may re-identify a user and her/his sensitive information from the tagging dataset using a little background information. Recently, several private techniques have been proposed to address the problem, but most of them lack a strict privacy notion, and can hardly resist the number of possible attacks. This paper proposes an private releasing algorithm to perturb users' profile in a strict privacy notion, differential privacy, with the goal of preserving a user's identity in a tagging dataset. The algorithm includes three privacy-preserving operations: Private Tag Clustering is used to shrink the randomized domain and Private Tag Selection is then applied to find the most suitable replacement tags for the original tags. To hide the numbers of tags, the third operation, Weight Perturbation, finally adds Laplace noise to the weight of tags. We present extensive experimental results on two real world datasets, De.licio.us and Bibsonomy. While the personalization algorithm is successful in both cases, our results further suggest the private releasing algorithm can successfully retain the utility of the datasets while preserving users' identity. Fine-grained opinions are often buried in user reviews. The opinionated aspects may also be associated with different weights by reviewers to represent the aspects' relative importance. As the opinions and weights provide valuable information about users' preferences for products, they can facilitate the generation of personalised recommendations. However, few studies to date have investigated the three inter-connected tasks in a unified framework: aspect identification, aspect-based rating inference and weight estimation. In this paper, we propose a unified framework for performing the three tasks, which involves 1) identifying the product aspects mentioned in a review, 2) inferring the reviewer's ratings for these aspects from the opinions s/he expressed in a review, and 3) estimating the reviewer's weights for these aspects. The relationship among these three tasks is inherently dependent in that the output of one task adjusts the accuracy of another task. We particularly develop an unsupervised model to Collectively estimate Aspect Ratings and Weights (shorted as CARW), which performs all of the three tasks by enhancing each other mutually. We conduct experiments on three real-life datasets to evaluate the CARW model.
