The government's new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form has experienced delays and technical glitches, resulting in a 57% decrease in the number of high-school students applying for college financial aid compared to last year. Colleges are now expected to receive application data months later than usual, causing financial-aid packages to be delayed and admissions deadlines to be pushed back. The Government Accountability Office has launched an investigation into the FAFSA rollout, and colleges are extending their decision deadlines to accommodate the delays. Despite the challenges, the Education Department has reported an increase in the number of successfully submitted applications compared to 2017. [Extracted from the article]
