Abstract

The article reports on an advertisement launched by Fiat for its Lancia Delta car that draws attention to the plight of democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi who spent 12 years under house arrest in Myanmar. It is said that Fiat is reaping an outsize return through the advertisement which cost only about €60,000 to make because European networks agreed to show that it is free of charge after the firm bills it as a public-service announcement. The company decided to promote the Lancia as helping improve society.
