Abstract

This article presents information about the legal fight between New York State attorney general Eliot Spitzer and former New York Stock Exchange chief Dick Grasso over Grasso's compensation. Trial judge Charles E. Ramos will discuss the progress of the civil matter and may discuss a trial date. Spitzer argues that the compensation package was excessive under New York's not-for-profit law and Grasso says that he only took what the board of directors offered him. Observers believe the trial won't be held before the November election for which Spitzer is campaigning.
