Objective. The main objective of this paper is to encourage discussion regarding exhibition activities in libraries and to point out numerous challenges the library staff encounters. Authors present examples of good practice in the Public library "Petar Preradović" Bjelovar in order to facilitate organisation, implementation, cataloguing and evaluation of exhibition activities in other libraries. Approach/methodology. The paper provides a review of relevant literature regarding exhibition activities in libraries, including virtual exhibitions, and an overview of exhibition activities in official reports of the Public library "Petar Preradović" Bjelovar in the period from 2020 to 2023. The results. Authors present brief theoretical background of the exhibition activities and organisation of such activities in libraries. They also give detailed description of the process -- from conceptual design, organization of the exhibition space and collection of exhibition material to installation and preservation of exhibits and finally cataloguing of exhibitions. Presentation of examples of good practice can lead to successful implementation of exhibitions activities in other libraries. Originality/value. Purpose. The paper presents library programs and remote services of the Public Library "Petar Preradović" Bjelovar during the COVID-19 epidemic in the period from March 16 to April 24, 2020, when the library was physically closed to users. The adapting of the library to emergency situations in the context of designing and implementing remote services is considered, as well as the remote communication of the library with its users using communication media and channels based on information and communication technology. Methodology. The methodological approach to the topic is presented in the research of the literature related to library management in crises and distance library services. Furthermore, an important topic covered by the literature is the media communication of libraries in crisis situations. This paper brings a synthesis of this research, i.e. a critical reflection on the topic with some examples of good practice. Results. By inspecting the relevant professional and scientific literature and through examples of good practice, it was noticed that the remote services provided in public libraries could more or less successfully implement various services that do not require physical presence of the users in the library. Likewise, these services can be further promoted and developed in collaboration with the local joint media programs, with the help of communication channels based on information and communication technology. Value. The paper emphasizes the importance of adapting library operations to extraordinary situations, in this case the COVID-19 epidemic, both in theory and in practice. Furthermore, the paper highlights examples of good practice that should serve as an example to other librarians in setting guidelines for designing and implementing distance services. Purpose. The paper presents the educational workshops on the ways of using information and communication technologies organized in the Public library „Petar Preradović" in Bjelovar for the users of all age groups, carried out in the period from 2012 to 2018. It also addresses the issues of the role of public libraries in the context of user education and lifelong learning, as well as the competencies of librarians to carry out education and inform users on the programs implemented by the library. Methodology. This paper topic is based on the research of the relevant professional and scientific literature that is related to educational workshops and programs for the users in public libraries, research synthesis, critical thinking, and examples of good practice. Results. The research of the relevant professional and scientific literature and the analysis of the examples of good practice of the conducted workshops and evaluating their usefulness from the perspective of the participants, have shown that public libraries can successfully implement various forms of informal education that include lectures, workshops, courses, roundtables, etc., in cooperation with the local community, institutions, and associations in order to improve the information literacy of their users, but also to influence the wider development of society. Value. This paper highlights the value of informal education and lifelong learning in theory and in practice, i.e. it emphasizes the examples of good practice which should serve as guidelines for implementing informal education programs in libraries.
