Summary Leak testing with air or tracer gas has made significant progress in the last decade with respect to technology, improved sensitivity and shorter cycle times. The motivation was driven by stricter environmental regulations and cost pressure. The article gives an overview of different leak testing methods. Furthermore a question guideline for the selection of the optimal leak detection method for different applications is introduced.
