Female high school students in South Korea are being encouraged to compete for top university places, after the passing of the Women's Development Law. Most of the 35% of women in the 18-21 age group in higher education are enrolled in lower-status junior colleges and teacher training colleges, and there are fewer career options due to employer discrimination. High schools are being called on to encourage women in the sciences, computing and industrial skills.
