The Craftmanship 2000 (C-2000) apprenticeship program in Tulsa, OK, is a work based learning program which offers students a chance to earn while still learning. In the beginning, C-2000 was designed as a pilot program which integrates academic, vocational and on the job training experiences in preparation for employment. With its success, the program was awarded by the Dep of Labor with a $250,000 grant for expansion. Its success, however, can largely be attributed to the overwhelming support of the industry, school and the community in Oklahoma.

Postsecondary vocational students organizations are effective avenues by which students can obtain additional skills, thus improving their chances for finding employment. For instance, the local chapter of Delta Epsilon Chi's Gateway Marketing and Management Assn members acknowledge the leadership skills and knowledge they have acquired from the organization. Kari Aiello and Drew Berben, are among the successful members whose vocational student organization experience have helped them find employment in their field of expertise.

Servistar Corp's 'Tools for Tomorrow' program is helping both teachers and students in promoting vocational education. The program successfully brings together the school, community and the industry in recognizing the achievements of vocational school students. Hardware company retailers grant awards, gift certificates or savings bonds to deserving students as well provide their schools with necessary equipments and materials. Part of the company's sales are also donated to particpating schools.
