In this paper, we designed and implemented the planar monopole antenna using the coupling effect for the multi-band characteristic. A parasitic element for the multi-band characteristic based on a rectangular patch with single resonance is inserted. Spiral shaped parasitic element is used for minimizing the antenna size and obtaining the multi-resonance characteristic. The frequency characteristics are modified and optimized by varying specific parameters. In this paper, a broadband planar monopole antenna for multi-band services is proposed. The physical size of the proposed antenna is miniaturized by folding a rectangular loop. And a resonance point in the 3.9 GHz band is reduced by a coupling phenomenon with the central part of the T-shaped patch and the folded rectangular loop. In addition, the T-shaped patch is inserted to the rectangular shaped monopole antenna due to deriving the broadband frequency characteristics. In this paper, the monopole antenna for satisfying GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900/UMTS2100 services is designed. We can get the characteristic of the low frequency bands by connecting the front patch to the back patch of the antenna and get the low frequency resonance band using a front patch slit. The proposed antenna total volume is , and it is designed on the FR-4 substrate having a relative dielectric constant of 4.4. As measurement result after fabrication, showed that the resonant frequency bandwidths are 156 MHz(828~984 MHz), 708 MHz(1.476~2.184 GHz) based on the return loss of 10 dB, and the radiation patterns show as the omnidirectional shapes for the E-field and H-field. For analyzing the human effects, the proposed antenna is mounted on the mobile-phone case. The averaged peak SAR over 1 g and 10 g is simulated and measured when the input power is 0.25 W. We have checked the variation of the SAR values when the antenna is mounted 4 different directions, then checked the direction having a relatively higher SAR. The results also satisfied the limiting SAR values which are 1.6 W/kg and 2.0 W/kg averaged over 1 g and 10 g tissues respectively.

In this paper, a triple band-notched UWB antennas using a spiral resonator and a complementary split ring resonator is proposed as two types. The band-rejection characteristic of the designed antenna is analyzed through the structure and equivalent circuit model of spiral resonator and CSRR. The measured results of first type antenna show that a VSWR less than 2 was satisfied with a resonant frequency in the range of 1.16~12 GHz and it can be obtained the band-stop performance at 3.3~3.85 GHz, 5.15~6.1 GHz, and 8.025~8.5 GHz. The measured results of second type antenna show that a VSWR less than 2 was satisfied with this antenna works from 1.79 to 12 GHz and it can be achieved the band-notched performance at 3.3~3.88 GHz, 5.12~5.94 GHz, and 8.025~8.51 GHz. Through the measured results, the designed antenna was satisfied UWB band except for triple notched bands.

In this paper, a broadband antenna of the CPW structure with a band-notched characteristic is presented. To obtain this characteristic, the complementary split ring resonator(CSRR) is inserted in the ground plane. In addition, the IEEE 802.11a WLAN band(5.15～5.825 GHz) appears in the band-notched characteristic. The proposed antenna dimension is , and it is designed on the FR-4 substrate having a relative dielectric constant of 4.4. The designed antenna shows that the resonant frequency is 2.03～10.78 GHz below the return loss of -10 dB and a VSWR less than 2 was satisfied. As a result, the proposed CSRR has a band-notched characteristic in the range of 4.917～6.017 GHz which the center frequency is about 5.4 GHz band.

The folded monopole antenna for applying mobile communications equipment and wireless devices is presented in this paper. By using the coplanar waveguide feed the operating bandwidth has improved. In addition, each individual resonant elements has occurred different capacitance through asymmetrical left and right ground planes; therefore, the bandwidth has kept and the impedance matching has stabilized. By measurement results, the impedance bandwidth under VSWR MHz and the MHz, also radiation patterns has omni-directional characteristics. The maximum gains of the proposed antenna are 5.52, 0.64, 3.00, 0.94 and 1.85 dBi at 850, 1,575, 1,790, 1,930 and 2,050 MHz respectively. The proposed antenna will be adapted to the internal antenna of the mobile communication devices.

In this paper, we proposed a divided two-arms spiral slot antenna fed by coplanar waveguide using the magnetic flow at slots. This antenna has characteristics of which one is to short-circuit at the end of the slot and another is to turn spirals separately. To reduce the offset of magnetic flow, two spiral slots are fed by 1800 phase difference. Because we proposed a printed two-arms spiral slot antenna without a balun circuit, antenna size become smaller substantially. And frequency characteristics are studied using the various design parameters. The bandwidth of the realized antenna is below the return loss of -10 dB.

In this paper we proposed a novel broadband printed monopole antenna for PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN terminals by widening current flow To compensate narrow bandwidth characteristics which is one of disadvantages of general printed monopole antenna, we add the patch of diamond shape and induce the current in various directions for acquiring broadband characteristics. And frequency characteristics is optimized with Various design parameters. The bandwidth of the realized antenna is (58.72 %) below the return loss of -10 dB which contain the required band-width of PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN band.

This paper proposed a novel broadband printed monopole antenna for PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN terminals. Frequency characteristics are optimized with various design parameters. Two Z-shaped patchs were utilized in order to improve the characteristics of a printed monopole antenna which usually has a narrow bandwidth. The bandwidth of the realized antenna is GHz(48.43 %) below the return loss of -10 dB which contain the required bandwidth of PCS/IMT-2000/WLAN band. The simulated and measured values of 1 g and 10 g averaged peak SAR on human head caused by the proposed antenna on folder-type phone were analyzed and discussed. As a result, the measured 1 g peak SAR value is 0.794 W/kg and 10 g peak SAR value is 0.368 W/kg at 1.8 GHz. The results are smaller than the reference SAR limit values that are respectively 1.6 W/kg and 2 W/kg on 1 g and 10 g averaged SAR values.
