Physicist and spy Theodore Hall showed a strong mathematical talent from an early age. He became a Harvard graduate at the age of only 18, and was immediately recruited for the Manhattan Project. He began working on the atomic bomb in mid-1944, and grew concerned about the consequences of a US monopoly on atomic weapons. He subsequently made contact with Soviet officials and passed on information. He moved into biophysics in the 1950s, and moved to the UK in 1962.
