A Gallup survey performed Dec 4-10, 2000, found that 54% of Canadians believe their present standard of living is better than that enjoyed by their parents, compared to 20% who believe their standard of living is lower than that of their parents. Response differences varied significantly by age, with 78% of those aged 65 and older indicating their standard of living was better than their parents', compared to 21% of those between 18-29 years of age who believe so.
