New TTF precursors for the construction of conducting and magnetic materials have been synthesized by using the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction between a mono- or a bis(trialkylstannyl)tetrathiafulvalene and a series of heteroaryl halides. The redox potential and some crystallographic data of these new building blocks are presented and discussed.

The poor results in the syntheses of unsymmetrically substituted TTF derivatives carried out with mono or unsubstituted diethyl 1,3-dithiol-2-yl-phosphonates is here explained by the existence of an equilibrium between the cyclic and open forms of their corresponding carbanionic salt, with possible dimerisation of the open form. The monomeric cyclic form can react with a high reactive iminium salt, affording then the corresponding TTF derivative in moderate yield.

The reaction of Tetrahiafulvalenyllithium with Eschenmoser's salts is reported for the first time. It allows the synthesis of the title compounds in one step.

This communication describes the synthesis and the electrochemical properties of a new type of donor containing sulfur or selenium atoms: the dimethyltetramethylenetetraselenafulvalene 1 and the dimethyltetramethylenetetrathiafulvalene 2 . The electrical conductivity of their charge transfer complexes and of some of their radical cation salts are reported.

A new organic conductor TMTTF 3 - DETCNQ 2 of unusual stoichiometry and structure is described and its spectral properties and electrical conductivity between 300 - 100°K studied.

We describe the synthesis of a new series of radical cation salts : (TTTF)2X : X = BF4, ClO4, PF6, AsF6, NO3, Br. The electrical properties and the preliminary structural data are given, specially for (TTTF)2BF4.

A number of unsymmetrically substituted tetraheterofulvalenes have been prepared. Their half wave potentials have been measured by cyclic voltammetry and compared with that of TTF. Their perchlorate and hexafluorophosphate salts have been electrochemically synthesized and their electrical properties studied. Some structural data are also given.
