L’A. sviluppa un’ermeneutica del concetto della care tracciando un vasto campo del suo significato. L’idea della care come un momento di cura permette di raggruppare una diversità di pratiche che riguardano la cura relazionale, educativa, sanitaria, ecologica o lavorativa. A partire da questi diversi campi di applicazione della cura, il pensiero moderno cerca di ridefinire la comprensione dell’essere umano nel suo aspetto di vulnerabilità. Per l’A. tale progetto, che vuole tagliare ogni legame con la precedente tradizione filosofica, che ha trattato in diversi modi e sotto molti aspetti la questione della cura, appare assai problematico. È davvero onesto adattare una sorta di amnesia per evitare i temi legati alla cura dell’anima di cui il gesto socratico rimane un indimenticabile emblema? La care costituisce un topos nella storia della filosofia e invita a ripensare di nuovo i concetti come: sollecitudine, compassione, agape e caritas. La care richiede di risvegliare le promesse incluse nella cura maieutica, nella cura evangelica del prossimo o nella cura dell’attenzione fenomenologica per renderle accessibili all’uomo moderno.
