The cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.) is the most important export fruit in Colombia, becoming a great production alternative for small, medium and large producers, therefore, it is necessary to select stable materials with good potential for yield and fruit quality, to contribute to the competitiveness of the crop. The objective of this work was to determine the magnitude and nature of the genotype-environment interaction for fruit yield and quality, using nine advanced cape gooseberry materials and four regional controls tested, in seven environments in the departments of Antioquia, Cundinamarca and Nariño. To analyze the data obtained, the method of additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) was used. For all the variables evaluated (seven) the combined analysis of variance indicated significant statistical differences in the repetition factors, locality, genotype and IGA, with the exception of POFR, ATT, FIRM, IM, pH and SST; where the repetition factor was not significant. The variables that showed statistical significance in the IGA factor, in the combined analysis, were analyzed for phenotypic stability using the additive main effects and multiplicative interaction method (AMMI). The AMMI analysis was important for the identification of groups of localities with the same response, discriminating localities regarding the genetic potential between materials; furthermore, negatively and positively correlated localities were identified with some materials. For the variables studied, the effects of the locality were more important to explain the total variation observed in the interaction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
