Abstract

L'ecriture est un element essentiel dans l'enseignement de la philosophie. Les evaluations sont basees sur la production ecrite des etudiants qui doivent apprendre a maitriser l'art de l'ecriture. Cet article evalue deux methodes couramment utilisees dans l'enseignement de la philosophie dans l'enseignement superieur aux Etats-Unis : d'une part l'epreuve ecrite, qui examine la comprehension de certaines idees et concepts dans le contexte limite d'un echange d'idees entre etudiants et enseignants et la dissertation ou epreuve professionnelle qui force l'etudiant a argumenter contre ou en faveur d'une ou plusieurs assertions, et qui represente un echange d'idees d'un philosophe en direction d'un autre philosophe. L'auteur presente l'utilite pedagogique de ces deux methodes et suggere l'utilisation d'autres modes d'evaluation et d'expression en philosophie.

Abstract

Peer instruction is a simple and effective technique you can use to make lectures more interactive, more engaging, and more effective learning experiences. Although well known in science and mathematics, the technique appears to be little known in the humanities. In this paper, we explain how Peer Instruction can be applied in philosophy lectures. We report the results from our own experience of using Peer Instruction in undergraduate courses in philosophy, formal logic, and critical thinking. We have consistently found it to be a highly effective method of improving the lecture experience for both students and the lecturer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
