A new centrosymmetric dinuclear oxovanadium(V) complex, [V2O2(μ-O)2L2], was prepared by the reaction of [VO(acac)2] (where acac = acetylacetonate) with the Schiff base ligand 2-bromo-4-chloro-6-((2-(ethylamino)ethylimino)methyl)phenol (HL) in methanol. Crystal and molecular structure of the complex were determined by elemental analysis, infrared and1H NMR spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The V···V distance is 3.105(1) Å. The V atoms in the complex are in octahedral coordination, with the phenolate oxygen, imino nitrogen, and amino oxygen of the Schiff base ligand, and one bridging oxo oxygen in the equatorial plane, and with one oxo oxygen and one bridging oxo oxygen in the two axial positions. A new oxovanadium(V) complex, [N'-(3-ethoxy-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-fluorobenzohydrazido](quinolin-8-olato)oxovanadium(V), [VO(EFH)(QN)], where EFH is the anion ofN'-(3-ethoxy-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-fluorobenzohydrazide, and QN is the anion of 8-hydroxyquinoline, was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, thermal analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. A new copper(II) complex, [Cu(AA)(EDA)2] (1), and a new zinc(II) complex, [Zn(PA)2(EDA)] (2), where AA is 1-naphthylacetate, PA is 4-nitrophenylacetate, and EDA isN,N-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine, have been prepared and characterized. A μ-oxido-bridged dinuclear iron(III) complex, [Fe2O(L1)2(L2)2], where L1and L2are the deprotonated forms of 2,4-dichloro-6-[(2-morpholin-4-ylethylimino)methyl]phenol and 3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde, respectively, has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, and single-crystal X-ray determination. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic space groupP, with unit cell dimensionsa= 10.670(1) Å,b= 11.585(1) Å,c= 19.748(2) Å, α = 86.766(2)°, β = 85.038(2)°, γ = 73.973(2)°,V= 2336.1(4) Å3,Z= 2, GOOF = 1.019,R1= 0.0422, andwR2= 0.1024. A phenolic O-bridged centrosymmetric dinuclear cadmium(II) complex, [Cd2L2(NO3)2]·2MeOH, where L is the deprotonated form of 4-chloro-2-{[2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)ethylimino]methyl}phenol (HL), was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal of the complex is monoclinic: space groupP21/c,a= 11.536(2),b= 9.657(2),c= 15.698(2) Å,β= 106.742(2)°,V= 1674.7(4) Å3,Z= 2. The inversion center of the complex is located at the midpoint of the two Cd atoms. Each Cd atom is in an octahedral coordination. A pair of mononuclear Schiff base zinc(II) complexes, [ZnLCl2] (1) and [ZnLBr2] (2), have been prepared by the reaction of equimolar quantities of a new Schiff base ligand 2-[(2-dimethylammonioethylimino)methyl]-4-methylphenolate with ZnCl2and ZnBr2, respectively, in methanol. The structures of the complexes have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. A new mononuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(PIBA)2(OH2)], where PIBA is the anionic form of 2-(1-phenylimidazolidin-2-yl)benzoic acid, has been unexpectedly obtained from the reaction of 2-formylbenzoic acid,N-phenylethane-1,2-diamine, and copper perchlorate in methanol. The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, and single-cyrstal X-ray diffraction. A new azido-bridged polymeric copper(II) complex, [CuL(μ1,3-N3)]n·2nH2O (1), and a new thiocyanato-bridged polymeric copper(II) complex, [CuL(μ1,3-NCS)]n(2) (L = 4-methoxy-2-[(2-morpholin-4-ylethylimino)methyl]phenolate), have been prepared and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and single-crystal X-ray determination. A rarely seen terephthalato-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu2(CMP)2(TPA)]·[Cu2(CMP)2(MeOH)2(TPA)]·2H2O (CMP = 4-chloro-2-[(2-isopropylaminoethylimino)methyl]pheno- late, TPA = terephthalate), has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, and single crystal X-ray determination. Three centrosymmetric mononuclear copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes, [Cu(MMP)2] (1), [Ni(IMP)2] (2), and [Ni(IEP)2] (3) (MMP = 5-methoxy-2-[(2-morpholin-4-ylethylimino)methyl] phenolate, IMP = 2-iminomethyl-5-methoxyphenolate, IEP = 2-(1-iminoethyl)phenolate), have been prepared from similar tridentate Schiff bases derived from 2-morpholin-4-ylethylamine with 4-methoxysalicylaldehyde and 2-acetylphenol, respectively. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Cu and Ni atoms in the complexes are in square planar coordination. A novel tetranuclear zinc(II) complex, [Zn4L4]·2H2O, has been synthesized from a Schiff base ligand 2-{[1-(4-diethylamino-2-hy- droxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}-2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol (H2L). The structure of the complex was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to the tetragonal system, space groupI41/awitha=b= 16.2579(1),c= 26.6376(3) Å,V= 7040.83(10) Å3,Z= 4,Dc= 1.384 g/cm3,Mr= 1467.00,μ= 2.080 mm–1,F(000) = 3088,R= 0.0499, andwR= 0.1516. A total of 3,429 unique reflections were collected, of which 2,923 withI> 2σ(I) were observed. The complex possesses crystallographic two-fold rotation axis symmetry, with the axis passes through the two water molecules and the centre of the cubane core formed by the four Zn atoms. Each Zn atom is penta-coordinated in a distorted square pyramidal geometry. The adjacent Zn···Zn distances are 3.065(1) and 3.163(1) Å. Two new isostructural mononuclear zinc(II) complexes, [Zn(C11H14Cl2N2O)(NCS)(CH3COO)] and [Zn(C11H14BrClN2O) (NCS)(CH3COO)], have been synthesized from the Schiff-bases 2-bromo-4-chloro-6-[(3-methylaminopropylimino)methyl]phenol and 2,4-dichloro-6-[(3-methylaminopropylimino)methyl]phenol, respectively. Both complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Zn atom in each of the complexes is coordinated by one phenolic oxygen atom and one imine nitrogen atom of a Schiff-base ligand, one nitrogen atom of a thiocyanate anion, and one oxygen atom of an acetate ligand, giving a tetrahedral geometry. Three platinum(II) complexes of amines(L) have been prepared and structurally characterized and activity determined, where L is triethylenediamine, hexamethylenetetramine or pyridine, respectively. Crystal structure of [Pt(C6H12N4)Cl2] · 3H2O was determined by X‐ray single analysis, indicating that it is a cis‐compound, and with the space group of C2/c, monoclinic, and a=27.540(2) Å, b=9.175(5) Å, c=9.996(3) Å, β=104.37(3)°, U=2447.1(2) Å3, Z=8, Dx=2.466 g cm-3. Two copper(II) complexes, [Cu2(L¹)2(N3)2]2 (1) and [CuL²N3] · 2H2O (2), where the anion of L¹ is N-3-carboxyl-2- hydroxybenzaldehyde-N-aminoethylmorpholine anion and L² is N-salicylaldehyde-N-aminoethylmorpholine anion, were prepared and characterized by single crystal structure determination. The crystallographic study shows that (1) is a dinuclear complex and the two copper(II) atoms are linked by two end-to-end azide anions, while (2) is a monuclear copper(II) compound linked by a terminal azide anion. As showing around the copper(II) atom, both the two complexes are connected by the similar tridentate Schiff base ligands of L¹ and L². The systems of the two complexes are triclinic and monoclinic, respectively. The reactions of CuCl 2 · 2H 2 O, CoCl 2 · 6H 2 O and 2‐methoxyacetatic acid (maaH) result in two organic‐inorganic hybrid compounds. The metal atoms in both compounds are in six‐coordination with a distorted octahedral geometry, and only a rather small Jahn‐Teller distortion. All the hydrogen atoms from the carboxylates and the water molecules contribute to the formation of the hydrogen bonds, which link the complexes into a 3D structure. Three carboxylate silver(I) complexes, [Ag(fbc)]n, (1), [Ag2(cpd)]n (2) and [Ag2(idc)]n (3), were prepared and characterized by X-ray single crystal analysis, where fbcH is 4-fluorobenzoic acid, cpdH2 is cyclopentane-1,1-dicarboxylic acid and idcH2 is iminodiacetic acid. The three coordination polymers show clear Ag–Ag bonds in their structures. The Ag–Ag bond length 2.850?Å both in 1 and 2 is much shorter than that (2.89?Å) in metal silver, which is the shortest silver–silver interaction reported. Two new silver complexes have been synthesized, diaquatetra(3,5-dinitrobenzoato)-tetrasilver(I) (1) and polymeric (ethylenediaminesilver(I) di(3,5-dinitrobenzoato)silver(I) dihydrate) (2). A novel polymeric copper(I) complex with 5-methyltetrazolate ligands has been prepared by reaction of copper(II) nitrate, sodium azide, and EtN3in methanol and acetonitrile under solvolthermal conditions. The structure of the complex was characterized by elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray crystallography. The complex crystallizes in hexagonal space groupR-3m, with unit cell dimensionsa=b= 16.027(3) Å,c= 9.394(2) Å, V = 2089.7(7) Å3, Z = 18,R1= 0.0316, andwR2= 0.0854. Each Cu atom in the complex is coordinated by four N atoms from four 5-methyltetrazolate ligands, forming a tetrahedral coordination. A new nickel complex, bis[S‐hydrazyl‐p‐N‐(4‐dibutylaminophenyl)methylenedithiocarbazate]nickel(II) has been synthesized. It was characterized by elemental analysis and X‐ray crystallography.
