We study initial coin offerings (ICOs) to understand how an unregulated market overcomes information frictions and conflicts of interest. Listing platforms both independently assess an offering and crowdsource information from "expert" reviewers. These experts provide more balanced textual reviews as they gain experience and receive positive feedback from the community, consistent with a reputation effect. We find that proceeds are higher when reviews are more positive even after controlling for both the reviewer's and platform's numerical rating. Finally, experts with greater potential conflicts of interest are more positive than other reviewers, but investors identify these conflicts and discount their reviews.

Nowadays, traditional testing approaches become less feasible – both economically and practicably - for several reasons, such as an increasingly dynamic environment, shorter product lifecycles, cost pressure, as well as a fast growing and increasingly segmented hardware market. With the surge towards new modes of value creation, crowdsourced software testing (CST) seems to be a promising solution to effectively solve these problems and was already applied in various software testing contexts. However, literature so far mostly neglected the perspective of an organization intending to crowdsource tasks. In this study, we present an ongoing action research project with a consortium of six companies and present a preliminary model for crowdsourced software testing in organizations. The model unfolds necessary activities, process changes, and the accompanied roles for crowdsourced software testing to enable organizations to systematically conduct such initiatives and illustrates how test departments can use crowdsourcing as a new tool in their department.

In Open Innovation, companies open up their innovation activities to external stakeholders. Using web-based ideation platforms (WBIP), companies crowdsource ideas for innovations from their customers. Ideation can be considered as a create process. Therefore, in this research we analyze how current web-based ideation platforms run by firms support Shneiderman’s GENEX framework that aims at supporting creativity in information systems. By doing so, we were able to identify the state-of-the-art in practice as well as further re- search areas. We analyzed 16 web-based ideation platforms in total. Results indicate that current WBIP use creativity tasks different intensive and that some GENEX tasks are already well implemented, while others require further research. Results are discussed and theoretical and practical contributions, limitations and identified research questions provided.

Introducing an analytical framework that guided the Distributed Problem-Solving Network (DPSN) study, providing a rationale for the case study selection and key theoretical expectations surrounding the choices that face management in deciding whether or not to 'crowdsource' problem-solving.The DPSN project is about 'network enabled' distributed problem-solving organizations. In this context to be network enabled means that the emergence of the organization and its sustained functioning depends upon the use to computermediated telecommunication networks in recruiting, mobilizing and coordinating spatially distributed knowledge resources.
