Abstract

To enhance color purity and operational lifetime of displays, thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials for organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been intensively investigated. The key to success is a combination of a TADF‐based high bond dissociation energy (BDE) material as an assistant and a fluorescence‐based narrow FWHM material as an emitter. In this work, we report the R/G/B hyperfluorescence (HF)‐OLED which can emit high color purity with long operational lifetime (LT95). The optimized R/G‐HF‐OLEDs exhibited the LT95of 230 hrs and 300 hrs with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 42 and 34 nm at 12.7 and 50 mA/cm2, respectively. Furthermore, B‐HF‐OLED reached the FWHM of 20 nm, External quantum efficiency of 20% and the LT95of 300 hrs, which has more than doubled in efficiency of monochromic color, and nearly half in lifetime compared with B‐F‐OLED LT95of 650 hrs at 300 nits.

Abstract

Low‐Temperature Poly‐Si and Oxide (LTPO) thin‐film transistors (TFTs) have been successfully manufactured and the AMOLED panels with LTPO TFTs are adapted to Apple Watch. The manufacturing technology of LTPO TFT such as stack‐up structure, device characteristics, panel image quality with LRR driving, and degradation of reliability in oxide TFT is explained and discussed.

Abstract

Although TADF has drawn a lot of attention for future high performance OLED, there has rarely been reports on the practical application. Furthermore, many researchers cast a doubt upon device lifetime. In this work, we demonstrated the applicability of TADF into OLED lighting panel. When TADF Blue was employed for 3‐stacked OLED lighting, white OLED (WOLED) showed improvement of power efficiency by about 40%. On the other hand, TADF Green in 2‐stakced WOLED reached the 70% of the device lifetime, compared with WOLED with phosphorescent green.

Abstract

In this work, we report top emission white OLED (TE-WOLED) device for an application to large sized and high resolution OLED TV. Like as bottom emission device, we adopted 3 stack WOLED consisting of two blue and one yellow green (YG) lightemitting units with a reflective metal as the bottom anode and a transparent compound as the top cathode. By using an optical simulation, we designed the device structure and found optimum positions for EML with consideration of viewing angle property. As a result, we demonstrate top emission white OLED comparable to bottom emission OLED, regarding efficiency, operating voltage and viewing angle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This paper will explain recent progress of WOLED for OLED TV which has been made by introducing an additional blue unit to conventional 2-stack tandem WOLED consisting of blue and yellow green (YG) devices. The addition of the blue unit not only boosts blue subpixel efficiency, but also makes the correlated color temperature of WOLED increase, resulting in more energyefficient OLED TV.
