We evaluated whether patients who meet the survey criteria for fibromyalgia suffer from a higher rate of sexual dysfunction and sleep disorders compared to those without fibromyalgia. While 54 of the participants were patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia, the remaining 41 made up the healthy control group of the study. The patients were given four different sets of questionnaires: the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) in order to evaluate sleep function, fibromyalgia disease severity, depression status and sexual function. We found a mean FSFI score of 19.29 ± 3.35 in the women with FMS and 25.88 ± 2.47 in the control group. The participants with FMS suffered from higher depression rates compared to participants in the healthy group. With PSQI score > 5 indicating the presence of a sleep disorder, sleep disorders were detected in 66.6% of women with FMS and 39.3% without FMS. In the Spearman correlation analysis, weak negative correlation was found between the PSQI and FSFI values (r = − 0.213; p = 0.076). In contrast, a positive correlation was detected between the FSFI and RFIQ (r = 0.578; p = < 0.001). Finally, a negative correlation was detected between FSFI and BDI values (r = − 0.509; p < 0.001). Therefore, physicians who investigate the fibromyalgia syndrome in their routine practice to take the negative effects of sexual dysfunction on female patients into consideration. This research was conducted to determine fertility characteristics problems experienced by women with physical disability and distressing factors. A total of 226 women aged between 15 and 49 with physical disabilities (orthopedic, visual, hearing, language and speech impairment) who were registered in the Department of Disability Services in Municipality of Sanliurfa, and in two associations of people with disability in Diyarbakir constituted the target population of this descriptive study. The aim was to reach all of the target population in the sample, but a total of 181 people were reached. Data were collected from November 1, 2015 to April 30, 2016 using a Data Collection Form. Descriptive statistics and the Chi square test were used in the analysis of the data. The distribution of disability type was 53.0% of women with orthopedic disability, 34.0% with visually impaired, 8.0% with language and/or speech impairment and 5.0% with hearing impairment. The total number of pregnancy women with disability was 4.3. The total number of pregnancies was higher (p < 0.05) for illiterate, unemployed, economically impoverished, Kurdish-speaking women who had a extended family type, 20-39% level of disability and whose husband or family elders made decided the number of the children. The unplanned pregnancy, miscarriage, optional termination of pregnancy and stillbirth rates were higher in this group. The rates of receiving antenatal care was 73.5% and use of modern contraceptive methods were 59.3% in women with disability. Because of their disabilities 65.0% of women had problems during pregnancy and 53.4% of women had problems during delivery. Given these results, women with disability should be evaluated as a risk group in terms of reproductive health, determined risks early, increased accessibility and dissemination of services, doing regular monitoring, enabled effective provision of counseling services, training and sensitivity of health personnel. Many patients who undergo stoma surgery experience erectile dysfunction or dyspareunia after the procedure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate sexual satisfaction and function in stoma patients. Data were collected from 100 stoma patients between March 2015 and 2016 using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), and Golombok-Rust Inventory of Sexual Satisfaction (GRISS). Statistical analysis was performed using descriptive methods, the Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-Wallis test. GRISS female (n = 24) and male (n = 76) mean scores were 6.20 ± 2.02 and 7.43 ± 1.44, respectively. FSFI mean score was 6.17 ± 8.97 and IIEF mean score was 23.5 ± 18.0. Severe erectile dysfunction was present in 60.5% of males (n = 46). Reportedly, 79.0% of patients had not been informed about possible sexual problems after surgery. Patients shared their experience with sexual problems with a partner (n = 28), medical doctor (n = 9), or no one (n = 20). Statistical significance was found between GRISS female mean scores and education level, marital status, chronic disease and stoma status (permanent/temporary) (p < .05), and between FSFI mean scores and chronic disease and drug use (p < .05). This study suggests that stoma patients experience sexual dissatisfaction and sexual dysfunction, and most patients had not been informed about possible sexual problems and treatment options. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of home care service on the sexual satisfaction of patients with gynecologic cancer. Sexual health and sexual satisfaction was greatly affect in patients with gynecological cancer depending on the disease and its treatments. Prospective randomized case control study. This study was conducted with 70 patients, of whom 35 patients were in the intervention and 35 patients were in the control group. Data were collected using An Interview Questionnaire, Home Visit Monitoring Questionnaire and Golombok Rust Inventory of Sexual Satisfaction. The intervention group patients were provided with the nursing care service through hospital and home visits (1st and 12th weeks) within the framework of a specifically developed nursing care plans. The control group was monitored without any intervention through the hospital routine protocols (1st and 12th weeks). Data were evaluated using Chi square, McNemar's, independent t test and one-way ANOVA tests. It was found that, within the 12-week post-discharge monitoring period as compared with the time before treatment, patients within the intervention group (those receiving home care services) experienced fewer sexual problems as compared to the control group (patients not receiving home care services). This study was conducted on a cross-sectional basis for the purpose of determining the prevalence of sexual dysfunction (SD) and sexual quality of life in women with diabetes and, showing the correlation of them with some variables associated with diabetes. The study recruited 423 women with diabetes, through a diabetic center for control from January to December 2012. The data was collected with Socio-demographic and Disease Associated Properties Form, Women Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire-Women (SQLQ). The mean age of the women, who participated in the study, was 50.0 (SD = 11.3) and, their mean marital period was 30.0 (SD = 11.8). 83 % of the women had type 2 and, 17 % of them had type 1 diabetes and, their mean duration of disease is 11.4 (SD = 7.2). 60.5 % of the women expressed that their sexual desire decreased and, 61.7 % of them expressed that their frequency of sexual intercourse reduced after the diagnosis of their disease. According to the total FSFI scores, 80.4 % of the women had SD. The frequency of SD in women with type 2 diabetes (85.6 %) was significantly higher than that in women with type 1 diabetes (%55.6) ( p < 0.001). The sexual quality of life of women with SD (62.7 ± 21.2) was significantly lower than that of those without SD (89.6 ± 9.9) ( p < 0.001). According to these study results, SD was prevalent in women with diabetes, particularly those with type 2 diabetes and also their sexual quality of life was low in parallel with this. This study was conducted in order to determine the prevalence of sexual dysfunction and factors affecting sexual dysfunction (SD) in male patients with diabetes. Diabetes is a public health problem. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is seen in nearly half of all males who have had diabetes for more than 10 years. Erectile dysfunction, metabolic and psychological factors are involved in the emergence. A descriptive was conducted and questionnaire was used in this study. Data was gathered via general knowledge form which consists of socio-demographic characteristics and risk factors, International Index of Erectile Function, Quality of Life Scale (SF-36), Beck Depression Inventory, Coopersmith Self-Esteem Scale, and Body Image Scale. SD was determined in 48 % of our cases. The most affected domain among the cases was erectile function (33.1 %) and intercourse satisfaction (29.1 %), and the least affected domain was sexual desire (6.3 %). Most of the male cases with ED had mild and moderate ED (42.6 %). Factors affecting SD's included age, education level, obesity, hypertension, retinopathy, vasculopathy, nephropathy, diabetic foot, HBA1C and LDL levels, diabetes duration, drugs used. All quality of life subgroups scores were lower in male patients with SD than patients without SD except for pain. Depression and body image scores were lower in male patients with SD. Primary Sjögren's syndrome causes disability and impaired quality of life. However, unlike other rheumatological diseases, primary Sjögren's syndrome affects the exocrine glands and can impact on sexual health. Primary Sjögren's syndrome is also associated with depression. Two groups of female patients were included in the present study; one group comprised patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome and the second group consisted of healthy women. The two groups were compared in terms of female sexual dysfunction using the Female Sexual Function Index and depression using the Beck Depression Inventory. Path analysis was used to show the relationship between primary Sjögren's syndrome, depression and female sexual dysfunction. Depression and female sexual dysfunction were higher in the group with primary Sjögren's syndrome than in the group of healthy women. Path analysis confirmed that primary Sjogren's syndrome itself and primary Sjögren's syndrome induced depression may lead to female sexual dysfunction. Both female sexual dysfunction and depression are common in primary Sjögren's syndrome. Therefore, it is important to consider the broad clinical picture for patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome, as both female sexual dysfunction and depression can be treated with education, psychotherapy, or medicine. Sexual myths are generally exaggerated and wrong beliefs, which are accepted right by individuals in terms of sexual subjects and have no scientific value. These wrong beliefs and concepts affect attitudes and behaviors of the individuals towards sexuality. 400 students, attending Atatürk University and Rzeszow University, were included in this descriptive and comparative study. A questionnaire form, prepared by researchers was used to collect the data of the study. SPSS software was used to assess the data along with percentage and Chi square test. It was determined that 59.7 % of the students included in the study were in the age group of 21-26 years, 68.4 % were female and 41 % resided in the city center. Moreover, 49.8 % of the students were Muslim, 48.1 % were Christian, and 54.4 % were studying in non-medical faculties. While the Turkish students accepted 8 myths right, the Polish students considered 10 myths right. Caring for a child with intellectual disability can often be stressful and can influence the inter- and intra-familial relationships of all family members throughout the child's lifetime. This descriptive and comparative study was conducted to identify psychosocial problems and marital adjustments in families having a child with intellectual disability. One hundred and fifty parents whose children with intellectual disability attended the East Anatolia Special Education and Rehabilitation Center (Group 1), 140 parents whose children with intellectual disability were registered with the Handicapped Education and Cooperation Association but were not receiving special education and rehabilitation support (Group 2), and 150 parents with healthy children (Group 3) were participated in the study. The Problem Identification form, Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Scale, Social Support Scale were applied to parents. Marital adjustments (compatibility and cooperation) of spouses were assessed using the Birtchnell Parent Evaluation Scale. Most of the parents in Groups 1 and 2 reported that they had psychological, physical and economic problems and that they had concerns about their children's care and future. Parents in Group 2 had higher depression and anxiety scores and lower social support scores than those in Groups 1 and 3. Anxiety and depression levels in parents increased as their marital adjustments decreased. In summary, the data emphasize the importance of continuing provision of comprehensive education and rehabilitation support to parents who have a child with an intellectual disability, especially those who are economically challenged. Although sexual problems are prevalent in postmenopausal women, only a few women seek medical help for the problems they experience. This research was conducted as a descriptive study to identify the problems that women have in their sexual lives in the postmenopausal period and the methods they use to cope with these problems. The research sample was comprised of 309 women who were registered at a primary health care center in the city of Ankara, Turkey, who were between 45 and 65 years old, married, in menopause and sexually active. The data were collected with a questionnaire specifically developed for this study. The women filled in the questionnaire themselves. It was determined that 80 % of the women experienced a decrease in frequency of sexual intercourse, 68 % in sexual desire, and 62 % in enjoying sexual intercourse after menopause. It was found that 87.4 % of the women experienced problems in their sexual relationships. During sexual intercourse 42.4 % of the women experienced vaginal dryness, 30.1 % pain, 24.9 % burning and 4.5 % bleeding problems. The majority of the women did not do anything to solve their problems of vaginal dryness, pain, burning and bleeding. The health care professionals who work in menopause clinics should examine the sexual problems in postmenopausal women. Sex counseling services need to be integrated into menopausal care programs and include information and education about the sexual life after menopause, potential sexual problems in postmenopausal women and their husbands, causes and methods of solving them.
