Atmospheric phase error is the main factor affecting the accuracy of ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GB-SAR). The atmospheric phase screen (APS) may be very complicated, so the atmospheric phase correction (APC) model is very important; in particular, the parameters to be estimated in the model are the key to improving the accuracy of APC. However, the conventional APC method first performs phase unwrapping and then removes the APS based on the least-squares method (LSM), and the general phase unwrapping method is prone to introducing unwrapping error. In particular, the LSM is difficult to apply directly due to the phase wrapping of permanent scatterers (PSs). Therefore, a novel methodology for estimating parameters of the APC model based on the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) and the Gauss-Newton algorithm is proposed in this paper, which first introduces the MLE method to provide a suitable objective function for the parameter estimation of nonlinear far-end and near-end correction models. Then, based on the Gauss-Newton algorithm, the parameters of the objective function are iteratively estimated with suitable initial values, and the Matthews and Davies algorithm is used to optimize the Gauss-Newton algorithm to improve the accuracy of parameter estimation. Finally, the parameter estimation performance is evaluated based on Monte Carlo simulation experiments. Oil spill SAR images are characterized by high noise, low contrast, and irregular boundaries, which lead to the problems of overfitting and insufficient capturing of detailed features of the oil spill region in the current method when processing oil spill SAR images. An improved DeepLabV3+ model is proposed to address the above problems. First, the original backbone network Xception is replaced by the lightweight MobileNetV2, which significantly improves the generalization ability of the model while drastically reducing the number of model parameters and effectively addresses the overfitting problem. Further, the spatial and channel Squeeze and Excitation module (scSE) is introduced and the joint loss function of Bce + Dice is adopted to enhance the sensitivity of the model to the detailed parts of the oil spill area, which effectively solves the problem of insufficient capture of the detailed features of the oil spill area. The experimental results show that the mIOU and F1-score of the improved model in an oil spill region in the Gulf of Mexico reach 80.26% and 88.66%, respectively. Guangdong Province, home to 21 cities and a permanent population of 127.06 million people, boasts the largest provincial economy in China, contributing 11.76% to the national GDP in 2023. However, it is prone to geological hazards due to its geological conditions, extreme weather, and extensive human activities. Geohazards not only endanger lives but also hinder regional economic development. Monitoring surface deformation regularly can promptly detect geological hazards and allow for effective mitigation strategies. Traditional ground subsidence monitoring methods are insufficient for comprehensive surveys and rapid monitoring of geological hazards in the whole province. Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology using satellite images can achieve wide-area geohazard monitoring. However, current geological hazard monitoring in Guangdong Province based on InSAR technology lacks regional analysis and statistics of surface deformation across the entire province. Furthermore, such monitoring fails to analyze the spatial–temporal characteristics of surface deformation and disaster evolution mechanisms by considering the local geological features. To address these issues, current work utilizes Sentinel-1A/B satellite data covering Guangdong Province from 2015 to 2022 to obtain the wide-area surface deformation in the whole province using the multi-temporal (MT) InSAR technology. Based on the deformation results, a wide-area deformation region automatic identification method is used to identify the surface deformation regions and count the deformation area in each city of Guangdong Province. By analyzing the results, we obtained the following findings: (1) Using the automatic identification algorithm we identified 2394 deformation regions. (2) Surface subsidence is concentrated in the delta regions and reclamation areas; over a 4 cm/year subsidence rate is observed in the hilly regions of northern Guangdong, particularly in mining areas. (3) Surface deformation is closely related to geological structures and human activities. (4) Sentinel-1 satellite C-band imagery is highly effective for wide-area geological hazard monitoring, but has limitations in monitoring small-area geological hazards. In the future, combining the high-spatial–temporal-resolution L-band imagery from the NISAR satellite with Sentinel-1 imagery will allow for comprehensive monitoring and early warning of geological hazards, achieving multiple geometric and platform perspectives for geological hazard monitoring and management in Guangdong Province. Large-scale, diverse, and high-quality data are the basis and key to achieving a good generalization of target detection and recognition algorithms based on deep learning. However, the existing methods for the intelligent augmentation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are confronted with several issues, including training instability, inferior image quality, lack of physical interpretability, etc. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a feature-level SAR target-data augmentation method. First, an enhanced capsule neural network (CapsNet) is proposed and employed for feature extraction, decoupling the attribute information of input data. Moreover, an attention mechanism-based attribute decoupling framework is used, which is beneficial for achieving a more effective representation of features. After that, the decoupled attribute feature, including amplitude, elevation angle, azimuth angle, and shape, can be perturbed to increase the diversity of features. On this basis, the augmentation of SAR target images is realized by reconstructing the perturbed features. In contrast to the augmentation methods using random noise as input, the proposed method realizes the mapping from the input of known distribution to the change in unknown distribution. This mapping method reduces the correlation distance between the input signal and the augmented data, therefore diminishing the demand for training data. In addition, we combine pixel loss and perceptual loss in the reconstruction process, which improves the quality of the augmented SAR data. The evaluation of the real and augmented images is conducted using four assessment metrics. The images generated by this method achieve a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 21.6845, radiometric resolution (RL) of 3.7114, and dynamic range (DR) of 24.0654. The Heihe River Basin (HRB), located on the northeast margin of the Qilian Mountains, is China's second largest inland river basin. It is a typical oasis-type agricultural area in northwest China's arid and semiarid areas. It is important to monitor and investigate the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and mechanisms of surface deformation in HRB for the ecology of inland river basins. In recent years, research on HRB has mainly focused on hydrology, meteorology, geology, or biology. Few studies have conducted wide-area monitoring and mechanism analysis of the surface stability of HRB. In this study, an improved interferometric point target analysis InSAR (IPTA-InSAR) technique is used to process 101 Sentinel-1 SAR images from two adjacent track frames covering the HRB from 2019 to 2020. The wide-area deformation of the HRB is obtained first for this period. The results show that most of the surface around the HRB is relatively stable. There are six areas with an extensive deformation range and magnitude in the plain oasis area. The maximum deformation rate is more than 50 mm/year. The maximum seasonal subsidence and uplift along the satellites' line-of-sight (LOS) direction can be up to −70 mm and 60 mm, respectively. Moreover, we use the Google Earth Engine platform to process the multisource optical images and analyze the deformation areas. The remote sensing indicators of the deformation areas, such as the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), soil moisture (SMMI), and precipitation, are obtained during the InSAR monitoring period. We combine these integrated remote sensing results with soil type and precipitation to analyze the surface deformations of the HRB. The spatiotemporal relationships between soil moisture, vegetation cover, and surface deformation of the HRB are revealed. Time-series Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology, renowned for its high-precision, wide coverage, and all-weather capabilities, has become an essential tool for Earth observation. However, the quality of the interferometric baseline network significantly influences the monitoring accuracy of InSAR technology. Therefore, optimizing the interferometric baseline is crucial for enhancing InSAR's monitoring accuracy. Surface vegetation changes can disrupt the coherence between SAR images, introducing incoherent noise into interferograms and reducing InSAR's monitoring accuracy. To address this issue, we propose and validate an optimization method for the InSAR baseline that considers changes in vegetation coverage (OM-InSAR-BCCVC) in the Yuanmou dry-hot valley. Initially, based on the imaging times of SAR image pairs, we categorize all interferometric image pairs into those captured during months of high vegetation coverage and those from months of low vegetation coverage. We then remove the image pairs with coherence coefficients below the category average. Using the Small Baseline Subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) technique, we retrieve surface deformation information in the Yuanmou dry-hot valley. Landslide identification is subsequently verified using optical remote sensing images. The results show that significant seasonal changes in vegetation coverage in the Yuanmou dry-hot valley lead to noticeable seasonal variations in InSAR coherence, with the lowest coherence in July, August, and September, and the highest in January, February, and December. The average coherence threshold method is limited in this context, resulting in discontinuities in the interferometric baseline network. Compared with methods without baseline optimization, the interferometric map ratio improved by 17.5% overall after applying the OM-InSAR-BCCVC method, and the overall inversion error RMSE decreased by 0.5 rad. From January 2021 to May 2023, the radar line of sight (LOS) surface deformation rate in the Yuanmou dry-hot valley, obtained after atmospheric correction by GACOS, baseline optimization, and geometric distortion region masking, ranged from −73.87 mm/year to 127.35 mm/year. We identified fifteen landslides and potential landslide sites, primarily located in the northern part of the Yuanmou dry-hot valley, with maximum subsidence exceeding 100 mm at two notable points. There is an urgent need to develop non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for infrastructure facilities and residences, etc., where human lives are at stake, to prevent collapse due to aging or natural disasters such as earthquakes before they occur. In such inspections, it is desirable to develop a remote, non-contact, non-destructive inspection method that can inspect cracks as small as 0.1 mm on the surface of a structure and damage inside and on the surface of the structure that cannot be seen by the human eye with high sensitivity, while ensuring the safety of the engineers inspecting the structure. Based on this perspective, we developed a radar module (absolute gain of the transmitting antenna: 13.5 dB; absolute gain of the receiving antenna: 14.5 dB) with very high directivity and minimal loss in the signal transmission path between the radar chip and the array antenna, using our previously developed technology. A single-input, multiple-output (SIMO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging system was developed using this module. As a result of various performance evaluations using this system, we were able to demonstrate that this system has a performance that fully satisfies the abovementioned indices. First, the SNR in millimeter-wave (MM-wave) imaging was improved by 5.4 dB compared to the previously constructed imaging system using the IWR1443BOOST EVM, even though the measured distance was 2.66 times longer. As a specific example of the results of measurements on infrastructure facilities, the system successfully observed cracks as small as 0.1 mm in concrete materials hidden under glass fiber-reinforced tape and black acrylic paint. In this case, measurements were also made from a distance of about 3 m to meet the remote observation requirements, but the radar module with its high-directivity and high-gain antenna proved to be more sensitive in detecting crack structures than measurements made from a distance of 780 mm. In order to estimate the penetration length of MM waves into concrete, an experiment was conducted to measure the penetration of MM waves through a thin concrete slab with a thickness of 3.7 mm. As a result, Λexp = 6.0 mm was obtained as the attenuation distance of MM waves in the concrete slab used. In addition, transmission measurement experiments using a composite material consisting of ceramic tiles and fireproof board, which is a component of a house, and experiments using composite plywood, which is used as a general housing construction material in Japan, succeeded in making perspective observations of defects in the internal structure, etc., which are invisible to the human eye. The joint action of human activities and environmental changes contributes to the frequent occurrence of landslide, causing major hazards. Using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technique enables the detailed detection of surface deformation, facilitating early landslide detection. The growing availability of SAR data and the development of artificial intelligence have spurred the integration of deep learning methods with InSAR for intelligent geological identification. However, existing studies using deep learning methods to detect landslides in InSAR deformation often rely on single InSAR data, which leads to the presence of other types of geological hazards in the identification results and limits the accuracy of landslide identification. Landslides are affected by many factors, especially topographic features. To enhance the accuracy of landslide identification, this study improves the existing geological hazard detection model and proposes a multi-source data fusion network termed MSFD-Net. MSFD-Net employs a pseudo-Siamese network without weight sharing, enabling the extraction of texture features from the wrapped deformation data and topographic features from topographic data, which are then fused in higher-level feature layers. We conducted comparative experiments on different networks and ablation experiments, and the results show that the proposed method achieved the best performance. We applied our method to the middle and upper reaches of the Yellow River in eastern Qinghai Province, China, and obtained deformation rates using Sentinel-1 SAR data from 2018 to 2020 in the region, ultimately identifying 254 landslides. Quantitative evaluations reveal that most detected landslides in the study area occurred at an elevation of 2500–3700 m with slope angles of 10–30°. The proposed landslide detection algorithm holds significant promise for quickly and accurately detecting wide-area landslides, facilitating timely preventive and control measures. Recently, the low-rank representation (LRR) model has been widely used in the field of remote sensing image denoising due to its excellent noise suppression capability. However, those low-rank-based methods always discard important edge details as residuals, leading to a common issue of blurred edges in denoised results. To address this problem, we take a new look at low-rank residuals and try to extract edge information from them. Therefore, a hierarchical denoising framework was combined with a low-rank model to extract edge information from low-rank residuals within the edge subspace. A prior knowledge matrix was designed to enable the model to learn necessary structural information rather than noise. Also, such traditional model-driven approaches require multiple iterations, and the solutions may be very complex and computationally intensive. To further enhance the noise suppression performance and computing efficiency, a hierarchical low-rank denoising model based on deep unrolling (HLR-DUR) was proposed, integrating deep neural networks into the hierarchical low-rank denoising framework to expand the information capture and representation capabilities of the proposed shallow model. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image registration is an important process in many applications, such as image stitching and remote sensing surveillance. The registration accuracy is commonly affected by the presence of speckle noise in SAR images. When speckle noise is intense, the number of image features acquired by single-feature-based methods is insufficient. An SAR image registration method that combines nonlinear diffusion filtering, Hessian features and edge points is proposed in this paper to reduce speckle noise and obtain more image features. The proposed method uses the infinite symmetric exponential filter (ISEF) for image pre-processing and nonlinear diffusion filtering for scale-space construction. These measures can remove speckle noise from SAR images while preserving image edges. Hessian features and edge points are also employed as image features to optimize the utilization of feature information. Experiments with different noise levels, geometric transformations and image scenes demonstrate that the proposed method effectively improves the accuracy of SAR image registration compared with the SIFT-OCT, SAR-SIFT, Harris-SIFT, NF-Hessian and KAZE-SAR algorithms. Azimuth multi-channel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has always been an important technical means to achieve high-resolution wide-swath (HRWS) SAR imaging. However, in the space-borne azimuth multi-channel SAR system, random phase noise will be produced during the operation of each channel receiver. The phase noise of each channel is superimposed on the SAR echo signal of the corresponding channel, which will cause the phase imbalance between the channels and lead to the generation of false targets. In view of the above problems, this paper proposes a random phase noise compensation method for space-borne azimuth multi-channel SAR. This method performs feature decomposition by calculating the covariance matrix of the echo signal and converts the random phase noise estimation into the optimal solution of the cost function. Considering that the phase noise in the receiver has frequency-dependent and time-varying characteristics, this method calculates the phase noise estimation value corresponding to each range-frequency point in the range direction and obtains the phase noise estimation value by expectation in the azimuth direction. The proposed random phase noise compensation method can suppress false targets well and make the radar present a well-focused SAR image. Due to the scheme of fixed-platform beam-steering radar and the space of the blast furnace being subjected to harsh environmental influences, the traditional detection methods of burden surface are limited by geometric distortion, noncoherent clutter, and noise interference, which leads to an increase in the image entropy value and the equivalent number of views, makes the density distribution of burden surface show a diffuse state, and greatly affects the stability and accuracy. In this paper, a new fixed-platform beam-steering radar synthetic aperture radar imaging method (FPBS-SAR) is proposed in the sensory domain of the blast furnace environment. From the perspective of fixed-platform beam-steering radar motion characteristics, the target range–azimuth coupled distance history model under the sub-aperture is established, the azimuthal Doppler variation characteristics of the fixed-platform beam-steering process are analyzed, and the compensation function of the transform domain for geometric disturbance correction is proposed. For noncoherent noise suppression in blast furnaces, the trimmed geometric mean-order-likelihood CFAR method is proposed to take into account the information of burden surface and clutter suppression. To verify the method, point target simulation and imaging for the industrial field measurement data are carried out. The results indicate that geometric distortion is well eliminated, the image entropy value and the equivalent number of views have decreased, and noncoherent noise in blast furnaces is suppressed. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is renowned for its all-weather and all-time imaging capabilities, making it invaluable for ship target recognition. Despite the advancements in deep learning models, the efficiency of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in the frequency domain is often constrained by memory limitations and the stringent real-time requirements of embedded systems. To surmount these obstacles, we introduce the Split_ Composite method, an innovative convolution acceleration technique grounded in Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). This method employs input block decomposition and a composite zero-padding approach to streamline memory bandwidth and computational complexity via optimized frequency-domain convolution and image reconstruction. By capitalizing on FFT's inherent periodicity to augment frequency resolution, Split_ Composite facilitates weight sharing, curtailing both memory access and computational demands. Our experiments, conducted using the OpenSARShip-4 dataset, confirm that the Split_ Composite method upholds high recognition precision while markedly enhancing inference velocity, especially in the realm of large-scale data processing, thereby exhibiting exceptional scalability and efficiency. When juxtaposed with state-of-the-art convolution optimization technologies such as Winograd and TensorRT, Split_ Composite has demonstrated a significant lead in inference speed without compromising the precision of recognition. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) ship detection is applicable to various scenarios, such as maritime monitoring and navigational aids. However, the detection process is often prone to errors due to interferences from complex environmental factors like speckle noise, coastlines, and islands, which may result in false positives or missed detections. This article introduces a ship detection method for SAR images, which employs deep learning and morphological networks. Initially, adaptive preprocessing is carried out by a morphological network to enhance the edge features of ships and suppress background noise, thereby increasing detection accuracy. Subsequently, a coordinate channel attention module is integrated into the feature extraction network to improve the spatial awareness of the network toward ships, thus reducing the incidence of missed detections. Finally, a four-layer bidirectional feature pyramid network is designed, incorporating large-scale feature maps to capture detailed characteristics of ships, to enhance the detection capabilities of the network in complex geographic environments. Experiments were conducted using the publicly available SAR Ship Detection Dataset (SSDD) and High-Resolution SAR Image Dataset (HRSID). Compared with the baseline model YOLOX, the proposed method increased the recall by 3.11% and 0.22% for the SSDD and HRSID, respectively. Additionally, the mean Average Precision (mAP) improved by 0.7% and 0.36%, reaching 98.47% and 91.71% on these datasets. These results demonstrate the outstanding detection performance of our method. When using ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GB-SAR) for monitoring open-pit mines, dynamic atmospheric conditions can interfere with the propagation speed of electromagnetic waves, resulting in atmospheric phase errors. These errors are particularly complex in rapidly changing weather conditions or steep terrain, significantly impacting monitoring accuracy. In such scenarios, traditional regression model-based atmospheric phase correction (APC) methods often become unsuitable. To address this issue, this paper proposes a clustering method based on the spatial autocorrelation function. First, the interferogram is uniformly divided into multiple blocks, and the phase consistency of each block is evaluated using the spatial autocorrelation function. Then, a region growing algorithm is employed to classify each block according to its phase pattern, followed by merging adjacent blocks based on statistical data. To verify the feasibility of the proposed method, both the traditional regression model-based method and the proposed method were applied to deformation monitoring of an open-pit mine in Northwest China. SAR (synthetic aperture radar) ship detection is a hot topic due to the breadth of its application. However, limited by the volume of the SAR image, the generalization ability of the detector is low, which makes it difficult to adapt to new scenes. Although many data augmentation methods—for example, clipping, pasting, and mixing—are used, the accuracy is improved little. In order to solve this problem, the adversarial training is used for data generation in this paper. Perturbation is added to the SAR image to generate new samples for training, and it can make the detector learn more abundant features and promote the robustness of the detector. By separating batch normalization between clean samples and disturbed images, the performance degradation on clean samples is avoided. By simultaneously perturbing and selecting large losses of classification and location, it can keep the detector adaptable to more confrontational samples. The optimization efficiency and results are improved through K-step average perturbation and one-step gradient descent. The experiments on different detectors show that the proposed method achieves 8%, 10%, and 17% AP (Average Precision) improvement on the SSDD, SAR-Ship-Dataset, and AIR-SARShip, compared to the traditional data augmentation methods. Geohazards that have developed in densely vegetated alpine gorges exhibit characteristics such as remote occurrence, high concealment, and cascading effects. Utilizing a single remote sensing datum for their identification has limitations, while utilizing multiple remote sensing data obtained based on different sensors can allow comprehensive and accurate identification of geohazards in such areas. This study takes the Latudi River valley, a tributary of the Nujiang River in the Hengduan Mountains, as the research area, and comprehensively uses three techniques of remote sensing: unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), Small Baseline Subset interferometric synthetic aperture radar (SBAS-InSAR), and UAV optical remote sensing. These techniques are applied to comprehensively identify and analyze landslides, rockfalls, and debris flows in the valley. The results show that a total of 32 geohazards were identified, including 18 landslides, 8 rockfalls, and 6 debris flows. These hazards are distributed along the banks of the Latudi River, significantly influenced by rainfall and distribution of water systems, with deformation variables fluctuating with rainfall. The three types of geohazards cause cascading disasters, and exhibit different characteristics in the 0.5 m resolution hillshade map extracted from LiDAR data. UAV LiDAR has advantages in densely vegetated alpine gorges: after the selection of suitable filtering algorithms and parameters of the point cloud, it can obtain detailed terrain and geomorphological information on geohazards. The different remote sensing technologies used in this study can mutually confirm and complement each other, enhancing the capability to identify geohazards and their associated hazard cascades in densely vegetated alpine gorges, thereby providing valuable references for government departments in disaster prevention and reduction work. The simulation of microwave absorption and external thermal flow is an essential aspect of the vacuum thermal testing process for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) antenna. This paper proposes a novel integrated method for simulating microwave absorption and external thermal flow, specifically designed for vacuum thermal testing. The method employs a non-woven fabric square pyramid assembly as the primary structure to establish a low electromagnetic scattering environment. External heat flow simulation is achieved by arranging carbon fiber heating wires between square cones. Through numerical analysis and experimental tests, the influence of the position of the carbon fiber heating wire on the uniformity of heat flow and reflectivity was revealed. A prototype system is developed based on these findings. The external thermal flow is adjustable in the range of 80–550 W/m2, with a uniformity better than 5%. The reflectivity in the L to X microwave frequency band is basically better than −25 dB, and in local frequency bands, it is better than −30 dB. The system has been successfully applied in SAR antenna component and satellite vacuum thermal tests, meeting all ground simulation test requirements and exhibiting significant potential for widespread application. The Jing-Mi Diversion Canal is a large-scale water diversion project in Beijing. Routine monitoring is crucial for the reliability and stability of urban water supply. Compared with traditional monitoring methods, interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) has the advantages of large scale and high accuracy. Based on the small baseline subset InSAR, 187 ascending and 102 descending SAR images obtained from Sentinel-1 were used to detect the deformation along the diversion canal from 2017 to 2023. The results show that there was a sinking trend along the diversion canal. The subsidence was serious in the first half of the canal, and continued to sink from 2019 to 2020. The subsidence was alleviated in 2023. Combined with leveling measurements, the InSAR deformation monitoring results of important pumping station buildings were verified. The measurement accuracy of InSAR can reach the millimeter level. We extracted the groundwater level time series and subsidence for risky canal segments. Through pixel-by-pixel comparison, it was found that fluctuations in groundwater level would have some impact on surface deformation. Severe local subsidence or uplift deformation occasionally occurred. A novel image-reconstruction method is proposed for the processing of data acquired at random spatial positions. The images are reconstructed and updated in real time concurrently with the measurements to produce an evolving image, the quality of which is continuously improving and converging as the number of data points increases with the stream of additional measurements. It is shown that the images converge to those obtained with data acquired on a uniformly sampled surface, where the sampling density satisfies the Nyquist limit. The image reconstruction employs a new formulation of the method of scattered power mapping (SPM), which first maps the data into a three-dimensional (3D) preliminary image of the target on a uniform spatial grid, followed by fast Fourier space image deconvolution that provides the high-quality 3D image. Oil spills are a major threat to marine and coastal environments. Their unique radar backscatter intensity can be captured by synthetic aperture radar (SAR), resulting in dark regions in the images. However, many marine phenomena can lead to erroneous detections of oil spills. In addition, SAR images of the ocean include multiple targets, such as sea surface, land, ships, and oil spills and their look-alikes. The training of a multi-category classifier will encounter significant challenges due to the inherent class imbalance. Addressing this issue requires extracting target features more effectively. In this study, a lightweight U-Net-based model, Full-Scale Aggregated MobileUNet (FA-MobileUNet), was proposed to improve the detection performance for oil spills using SAR images. First, a lightweight MobileNetv3 model was used as the backbone of the U-Net encoder for feature extraction. Next, atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP) and a convolutional block attention module (CBAM) were used to improve the capacity of the network to extract multi-scale features and to increase the speed of module calculation. Finally, full-scale features from the encoder were aggregated to enhance the network's competence in extracting features. The proposed modified network enhanced the extraction and integration of features at different scales to improve the accuracy of detecting diverse marine targets. The experimental results showed that the mean intersection over union (mIoU) of the proposed model reached more than 80% for the detection of five types of marine targets including sea surface, land, ships, and oil spills and their look-alikes. In addition, the IoU of the proposed model reached 75.85 and 72.67% for oil spill and look-alike detection, which was 18.94% and 25.55% higher than that of the original U-Net model, respectively. Compared with other segmentation models, the proposed network can more accurately classify the black regions in SAR images into oil spills and their look-alikes. The Haiyuan fault system plays a crucial role in accommodating the eastward expansion of the Tibetan Plateau (TP) and is currently slipping at a rate of several centimeters per year. However, limited seismic activities have been observed using geodetic techniques in this area, impeding the comprehensive investigation into regional tectonics. In this study, the geometric structure and source models of the 2022 Mw 6.7 and the 2016 Mw 5.9 Menyuan earthquakes were investigated using Sentinel-1A SAR images. By implementing an atmospheric error correction method, the signal-to-noise ratio of the 2016 interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) coseismic deformation field was significantly improved, enabling InSAR observations with higher accuracy. The results showed that the reliability of the source models for those events was improved following the reduction in observation errors. The Coulomb stress resulting from the 2016 event may have promoted the strike-slip movement of the western segment of the Lenglongling fault zone, potentially expediting the occurrence of the 2022 earthquake. The coseismic slip distribution and the spatial distribution of aftershocks of the 2022 event suggested that the seismogenic fault may connect the western segment of the Lenglongling fault (LLLF) and the eastern segment of the Tuolaishan fault (TLSF). Additionally, the western segment of the surface rupture zone of the northern branch may terminate in the secondary branch close to the Sunan-Qilian fault (SN-QL) strike direction, and the earthquake may have triggered deep aftershocks and accelerated stress release within the deep seismogenic fault. Multi-source remote sensing-derived information on crops contributes significantly to agricultural monitoring, assessment, and management. In Africa, some challenges (i.e., small-scale farming practices associated with diverse crop types and agricultural system complexity, and cloud coverage during the growing season) can imped agricultural monitoring using multi-source remote sensing. The combination of optical remote sensing and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data has emerged as an opportune strategy for improving the precision and reliability of crop type mapping and monitoring. This work aims to conduct an extensive review of the challenges of agricultural monitoring and mapping in Africa in great detail as well as the current research progress of agricultural monitoring based on optical and Radar satellites. In this context optical data may provide high spatial resolution and detailed spectral information, which allows for the differentiation of different crop types based on their spectral signatures. However, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites can provide important contributions given the ability of this technology to penetrate cloud cover, particularly in African tropical regions, as opposed to optical data. This review explores various combination techniques employed to integrate optical and SAR data for crop type classification and their applicability and limitations in the context of African countries. Furthermore, challenges are discussed in this review as well as and the limitations associated with optical and SAR data combination, such as the data availability, sensor compatibility, and the need for accurate ground truth data for model training and validation. This study also highlights the potential of advanced modelling (i.e., machine learning algorithms, such as support vector machines, random forests, and convolutional neural networks) in improving the accuracy and automation of crop type classification using combined data. Finally, this review concludes with future research directions and recommendations for utilizing optical and SAR data combination techniques in crop type classification for African agricultural systems. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of developing robust and scalable classification models that can accommodate the diversity of crop types, farming practices, and environmental conditions prevalent in Africa. The prediction and prevention of landslide hazard is a challenging topic involving the assessment and quantitative evaluation of several elements: geological and geomorphological setting, rainfalls, and ground motion. This paper presents the multi-approach investigation of the Nevissano landslide (Asti Province, Piedmont, NW Italy). It shows a continuous and slow movement, alongside few paroxysmal events, the last recorded in 2016. The geological and geomorphological models were defined through a field survey. An inventory of the landslide's movements and rainfall records in the period 2000–2016 was performed, respectively, through archive investigations and the application of "Moving Sum of Daily Rainfall" method, allowing for the definition of rain thresholds for the landslide activation (105 mm and 193 mm, respectively, in 3 and 30 days prior to the event). The displacements over the last 8 years (2016–2023) were monitored through an innovative in-continuum monitoring inclinometric system and Earth Observation (EO) data (i.e., relying on Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar, or InSAR data): it gave the opportunity to validate the rainfall thresholds previously defined. This study aims to provide information to public authorities for the appropriate management of the site. High-resolution and wide-swath (HRWS) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging with azimuth multi-channel always suffers from channel phase and amplitude errors. Compared with spatial-invariant error, the range-dependent channel phase error is intractable due to its spatial dependency characteristic. This paper proposes a novel parameterized channel equalization approach to reconstruct the unambiguous SAR imagery. First, a linear model is established for the range-dependent channel phase error, and the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum is used to measure the unambiguity quality. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between the channel phase errors and the sharpness is revealed, which allows us to estimate the optimal parameters by maximizing the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum. Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an advanced microwave imaging technology that provides all-weather and all-day target information. However, as spaceborne SAR resolution improves, traditional echo signal models based on airborne SAR design become inadequate due to the curved orbit, Earth rotation, and increased propagation distance. In this study, we propose an accurate range model for high-resolution spaceborne SAR by analyzing motion trajectory and Doppler parameters from the perspective of the space geometry of spaceborne SAR. We evaluate the accuracy of existing range models and propose an advanced equivalent squint range model (AESRM) that accurately fits the actual range history and compensates for high-order term errors by introducing third-order and fourth-order error terms while maintaining the simplicity of the traditional model. The proposed AESRM's concise two-dimensional frequency spectrum form facilitates the design of imaging algorithms. Point target simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed AESRM, demonstrating significant improvements in fitting accuracy for range histories characterized by nonlinear trajectories. In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signal processing, compared with the raw data of level-0, level-1 SAR images are more readily accessible and available in larger quantities. However, an amount of level-1 images are affected by radio frequency interference (RFI), which typically originates from Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) signals emitted by ground-based radars. Existing research on interference suppression in level-1 data has primarily focused on two methods: transforming SAR images into simulated echo data for interference suppression, or focusing interference in the frequency domain and applying notching filters to reduce interference energy. However, these methods overlook the effective utilization of the interference parameters or are confined to suppressing only one type of LFM interference at a time. In certain SAR images, multiple types of LFM interference manifest bright radiation artifacts that exhibit varying lengths along the range direction while remaining constant in the azimuth direction. It is necessary to suppress multiple LFM interference on SAR images when original echo data are unavailable. This article proposes a joint sparse recovery algorithm for interference suppression in the SAR image domain. In the SAR image domain, two-dimensional LFM interference typically exhibits differences in parameters such as frequency modulation rate and pulse width in the range direction, while maintaining consistency in the azimuth direction. Based on this observation, this article constructs a series of focusing operators for LFM interference in SAR images. These operators enable the sparse representation of dispersed LFM interference. Subsequently, an optimization model is developed that can effectively suppress multi-LFM interference and reduce image loss with the assistance of a regularization term in the image domain. Sub-Nyquist synthetic aperture radar (SAR) based on pseudo-random time–space modulation has been proposed to increase the swath width while preserving the azimuthal resolution. Due to the sub-Nyquist sampling, the scene can be recovered by an optimization-based algorithm. However, these methods suffer from some issues, e.g., manually tuning difficulty and the pre-definition of optimization parameters, and a low signal–noise ratio (SNR) resistance. To address these issues, a reweighted optimization algorithm, named pseudo-ℒ0-norm optimization algorithm, is proposed for the sub-Nyquist SAR system in this paper. A modified regularization model is first built by applying the scene prior information to nearly acquire the number of nonzero elements based on Bayesian estimation, and then this model is solved by the Cauchy–Newton method. Additionally, an error correction method combined with our proposed pseudo-ℒ0-norm optimization algorithm is also present to eliminate defocusing in the motion-induced model. SAR imagery plays a crucial role in geological and environmental monitoring, particularly in highland mountainous regions. However, inherent geometric distortions in SAR images often undermine the precision of remote sensing analyses. Accurately identifying and classifying these distortions is key to analyzing their origins and enhancing the quality and accuracy of monitoring efforts. While the layover and shadow map (LSM) approach is commonly utilized to identify distortions, it falls short in classifying subtle ones. This study introduces a novel LSM ground-range slope (LG) method, tailored for the refined identification of minor distortions to augment the LSM approach. We implemented the LG method on Sentinel-1 SAR imagery from the tri-junction area where the Xiaojiang, Pudu, and Jinsha rivers converge at the Yunnan-Sichuan border. By comparing effective monitoring-point densities, we evaluated and validated traditional methods—LSM, R-Index, and P-NG—against the LG method. The LG method demonstrates superior performance in discriminating subtle distortions within complex terrains through its secondary classification process, which allows for precise and comprehensive recognition of geometric distortions. Furthermore, our research examines the impact of varying slope parameters during the classification process on the accuracy of distortion identification. Monitoring ground displacements identifies potential geohazard risks early before they cause critical damage. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) is one of the techniques that can monitor these displacements with sub-millimeter accuracy. However, using the InSAR technique is challenging due to the need for high expertise, large data volumes, and other complexities. Accordingly, the development of an automated system to indicate ground displacements directly from the wrapped interferograms and coherence maps could be highly advantageous. Here, we compare different machine learning algorithms to evaluate the feasibility of achieving this objective. The inputs for the implemented machine learning models were pixels selected from the filtered-wrapped interferograms of Sentinel-1, using a coherence threshold. The outputs were the same pixels labeled as fast positive, positive, fast negative, negative, and undefined movements. These labels were assigned based on the velocity values of the measurement points located within the pixels. We used the Parallel Small Baseline Subset service of the European Space Agency's GeoHazards Exploitation Platform to create the necessary interferograms, coherence, and deformation velocity maps. Subsequently, we applied a high-pass filter to the wrapped interferograms to separate the displacement signal from the atmospheric errors. We successfully identified the patterns associated with slow and fast movements by discerning the unique distributions within the matrices representing each movement class. The experiments included three case studies (from Italy, Portugal, and the United States), noted for their high sensitivity to landslides. We found that the Cosine K-nearest neighbor model achieved the best test accuracy. It is important to note that the test sets were not merely hidden parts of the training set within the same region but also included adjacent areas. We further improved the performance with pseudo-labeling, an approach aimed at evaluating the generalizability and robustness of the trained model beyond its immediate training environment. The lowest test accuracy achieved by the implemented algorithm was 80.1%. Furthermore, we used ArcGIS Pro 3.3 to compare the ground truth with the predictions to visualize the results better. With the acceleration of urbanisation, urban areas are subject to the combined effects of the accumulation of various natural factors, such as changes in temperature leading to the thermal expansion or contraction of surface materials (rock, soil, etc.) and changes in precipitation and humidity leading to an increase in the self-weight of soil due to the infiltration of water along the cracks or pores in the ground. Therefore, the subsidence of urban areas has now become a serious geological disaster phenomenon. However, the use of traditional neural network prediction models has limitations when examining the causal relationships between time series surface deformation data and multiple influencing factors and when applying multiple influencing factors for predictive analyses. To this end, Sentinel-1A data from March 2017 to February 2023 were used as the data source in this paper, based on time series deformation data acquired using the small baseline subset interferometric synthetic aperture radar (SBAS-InSAR) technique. A sparrow search algorithm–convolutional neural network–long short-term memory (SSA-CNN-LSTM) neural network prediction model was built. The six factors of temperature, humidity, precipitation, and ground temperature at three different depths below the surface (5 cm, 10 cm, and 15 cm) were taken as the input of the model, and the surface deformation data were taken as the output of the neural network model. The correlation between the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of the ground subsidence in urban areas and various influencing factors was analysed using grey correlation analysis, which proved that these six factors contribute to some extent to the deformation of the urban surface. The main urban area of Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was used as the study area. In order to verify the efficacy of this neural network prediction model, the prediction effects of the multilayer perceptron (MLP), backpropagation (BP), and SSA-CNN-LSTM models were compared and analysed, with the values of the correlation coefficients of the feature points of A1, B1, and C1 being in the range of 0.92, 0.83, and 0.93, respectively. The results show that compared with the traditional MLP and BP neural network models, the SSA-CNN-LSTM model achieves a higher performance in predicting time series surface deformation data in urban areas, which provides new ideas and methods for this area of research. In recent years, the development of intelligent sensor systems has experienced remarkable growth, particularly in the domain of microwave and millimeter wave sensing, thanks to the increased availability of affordable hardware components. With the development of smart Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR) system called GBSAR-Pi, we previously explored object classification applications based on raw radar data. Building upon this foundation, in this study, we analyze the potential of utilizing polarization information to improve the performance of deep learning models based on raw GBSAR data. The data are obtained with a GBSAR operating at 24 GHz with both vertical (VV) and horizontal (HH) polarization, resulting in two matrices (VV and HH) per observed scene. We present several approaches demonstrating the integration of such data into classification models based on a modified ResNet18 architecture. We also introduce a novel Siamese architecture tailored to accommodate the dual input radar data. The results indicate that a simple concatenation method is the most promising approach and underscore the importance of considering antenna polarization and merging strategies in deep learning applications based on radar data. This paper introduces a method for quantifying the three-dimensional deformation of ground targets and outlines the associated process. Initially, ground-based synthetic aperture radar was employed to monitor the radial deformation of targets, and optical equipment monitored pixel-level deformation in the vertical plane of the line of sight. Subsequently, a regression model was established to transform pixel-level deformation into two-dimensional deformation based on a fundamental length unit, and the radar deformation monitoring data were merged with the optical deformation monitoring data. Finally, the fused data underwent deformation, resulting in a comprehensive three-dimensional deformation profile of the target. Through physical data acquisition experiments, the comprehensive three-dimensional deformation of targets was obtained and compared with the actual deformations. Wetlands are amongst Earth's most dynamic and complex ecological resources, serving productive and biodiverse ecosystems. Enhancing the quality of wetland mapping through Earth observation (EO) data is essential for improving effective management and conservation practices. However, the achievement of reliable and accurate wetland mapping faces challenges due to the heterogeneous and fragmented landscape of wetlands, along with spectral similarities among different wetland classes. The present study aims to produce advanced 10 m spatial resolution wetland classification maps for four pilot sites on the Island of Newfoundland in Canada. Employing a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach, this research leverages the synergistic use of optical, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data. It focuses on ecological and hydrological interpretation using multi-source and multi-sensor EO data to evaluate their effectiveness in identifying wetland classes. The diverse data sources include Sentinel-1 and -2 satellite imagery, Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) LiDAR footprints, the Multi-Error-Removed Improved-Terrain (MERIT) Hydro dataset, and the European ReAnalysis (ERA5) dataset. Elevation data and topographical derivatives, such as slope and aspect, were also included in the analysis. The study evaluates the added value of incorporating these new data sources into wetland mapping. Using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform and the Random Forest (RF) model, two main objectives are pursued: (1) integrating the GEDI LiDAR footprint heights with multi-source datasets to generate a 10 m vegetation canopy height (VCH) map and (2) seeking to enhance wetland mapping by utilizing the VCH map as an input predictor. Results highlight the significant role of the VCH variable derived from GEDI samples in enhancing wetland classification accuracy, as it provides a vertical profile of vegetation. Accordingly, VCH reached the highest accuracy with a coefficient of determination ( R 2 ) of 0.69, a root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 1.51 m, and a mean absolute error (MAE) of 1.26 m. Leveraging VCH in the classification procedure improved the accuracy, with a maximum overall accuracy of 93.45%, a kappa coefficient of 0.92, and an F1 score of 0.88. This study underscores the importance of multi-source and multi-sensor approaches incorporating diverse EO data to address various factors for effective wetland mapping. As urban economies flourish and populations become increasingly concentrated, urban surface deformation has emerged as a critical factor in city planning that cannot be overlooked. Surface deformation in urban areas can lead to deformations in structural supports of infrastructure such as road bases and bridges, thereby posing a serious threat to public safety and creating significant safety hazards. Consequently, research focusing on the monitoring of urban surface deformation holds paramount importance. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), as an important means of earth observation, has all-day, wide-range, high-precision, etc., characteristics and is widely used in the field of surface deformation monitoring. However, traditional solitary InSAR techniques are limited in their application scenarios and computational characteristics. Additionally, the manual selection of ground control points (GCPs) is fraught with errors and uncertainties. Permanent scatterers (PS) can maintain high interferometric coherence in man-made building areas, and distributed scatterers (DS) usually show moderate coherence in areas with short vegetation; the combination of DS and PS solves the problem of manually selecting GCPs during track re-flattening and regrading, which affects the monitoring results. In this paper, 45 Sentinel-1B data from 16 February 2019 to 14 December 2021 are used as the data source in the urban area of Horqin District, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, for example. A four-threshold (coherence coefficient threshold, FaSHPS adaptive threshold, amplitude divergence index threshold, and deformation velocity interval) GCPs point screening method for PS-DS, as well as a Small Baseline Subset-Permanent Scatterers-Distributed Scatterers-Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR) method for selecting PS and DS points as ground control points for orbit refinement and re-flattening, are proposed. The surface deformation results obtained using the Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) and the SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR proposed in this paper were comparatively analysed and verified. The maximum cumulative line-of-sight settlements were −90.78 mm and −83.68 mm, and the maximum cumulative uplifts are 74.94 mm and 97.56 mm, respectively; the maximum annual average line-of-sight settlements are −35.38 mm/y and −30.38 mm/y, and the maximum annual average uplifts are 25.27 mm/y and 27.92 mm/y. The results were evaluated and analysed in terms of correlation, mean absolute error (MAE), and root mean square error (RMSE). The deformation results of the two InSAR methods were evaluated and analysed in terms of correlation, MAE, and RMSE. The errors show that the Pearson correlation coefficients between the vertical settlement results obtained using the SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR method and the GPS monitoring results were closer to 1. The maximum MAE and RMSE were 13.7625 mm and 14.8004 mm, respectively, which are within the acceptable range; this confirms that the monitoring results of the SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR method were better than those of the original SBAS-InSAR method. The deformation results obtained using these two InSAR methods correlate well with the GPS monitoring results, and the MAE and RMSE are within acceptable limits. By comparing the deformation information obtained using multiple methods, the surface deformation in urban areas can be better monitored and analysed, and it can also provide scientific references for urban municipal planning and disaster warning. The paper introduces a numerical simulation method for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging of submerged body wakes by integrating hydrodynamics, electromagnetic scattering, and SAR imaging simulation. This work is helpful for better understanding SAR images of submerged body wakes. Among these, the hydrodynamic model consists of two sets of ocean dynamics closely related to SAR imaging, namely the wake of the submerged body and wind waves. For the wake, we simulated it using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical methods. Furthermore, we compared and computed the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of wakes under various navigation parameters and sea surface conditions. Following that, based on the operational principles and imaging theory of synthetic aperture radar (SAR), we established the SAR raw echo signal of the wake. Employing a Range-Doppler (RD) algorithm, we generated simulated SAR images of the wake. The results indicate that utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) numerical methods enables the simulation of wake characteristics generated by the motion of a submerged body with different velocities. The backscattering features of wakes are closely associated with the relative orientation between the wake and the radar line of sight. Under specific wind speeds, the wake gets masked within the sea surface background, resulting in less discernible characteristics of the wake in SAR images. This suggests that at lower speeds of submerged body or under specific wind conditions, the detectability of the wake in SAR images significantly diminishes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Compared to conventional radars, arc array synthetic aperture radar (SAR) enables wide-area observation under ideal conditions. However, helicopters carrying arc array SAR platforms are generally smaller in size and more sensitive to vibration, which has a greater impact on the imaging quality. In this paper, the vibration error of the arc array SAR platform is investigated, and a vibration error model of the arc array SAR platform is established. Based on the study of the vibration error model, a vibration phase estimation and compensation algorithm based on the delayed conjugate multiplication method is proposed. In the first step, distance pulse pressure processing is performed on the echo signal. In the second step, the pulse pressure signals and their delays in the same distance unit are subjected to conjugate multiplication, and the phase of the signal after conjugate multiplication is extracted. The extracted phase is then amplitude- and phase-compensated to estimate the vibration phase. In the third step, the vibration phase is compensated in the azimuthal direction of the distance pulse pressure signal, and the pairwise echo is eliminated, which completes the compensation of the airborne arc array SAR vibration platform. Supervised machine learning algorithms usually require huge labeled data sets to produce sufficiently good results. For many applications, these data sets are still not available today, and the reasons for this can be manifold. As a solution, the missing training data can be generated by fast simulators. This procedure is well studied and allows filling possible gaps in the training data, which can further improve the results of a machine learning model. For this reason, this article deals with the development of a two-dimensional electromagnetic field simulator for modeling the response of a radar sensor in an imaging system based on the synthetic aperture radar principle. The creation of completely random scenes is essential to achieve data sets with large variance. Therefore, special emphasis is placed on the development of methods that allow creating random objects, which can then be assembled into an entire scene. In the context of this contribution, we focus on humanitarian demining with regard to improvised explosive devices using a ground-penetrating radar system. This is an area where the use of trained classifiers is of great importance, but in practice, there are little to no labeled datasets for the training process. The simulation results show good agreement with the measurement results obtained in a previous contribution, demonstrating the possibility of enhancing sparse training data sets with synthetic data. In recent years, target recognition technology for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images has witnessed significant advancements, particularly with the development of convolutional neural networks (CNNs). However, acquiring SAR images requires significant resources, both in terms of time and cost. Moreover, due to the inherent properties of radar sensors, SAR images are often marred by speckle noise, a form of high-frequency noise. To address this issue, we introduce a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) with a dual discriminator and high-frequency pass filter, named DH-GAN, specifically designed for generating simulated images. DH-GAN produces images that emulate the high-frequency characteristics of real SAR images. Through power spectral density (PSD) analysis and experiments, we demonstrate the validity of the DH-GAN approach. The experimental results show that not only do the SAR image generated using DH-GAN closely resemble the high-frequency component of real SAR images, but the proficiency of CNNs in target recognition, when trained with these simulated images, is also notably enhanced. To achieve optimal operation of the polarimetry-based FOCS, the light polarisation state at the input of the sensing fibre part must be close to a linear one. In the case of a FOCS deployed on a tokamak, the Joint European Torus (JET) in the present work, the long fibre optics link between the laser source and the sensing fibre modifies the polarisation in an unpredictable way, making it unclear which source polarisation state is to be set. A method for performing the necessary polarisation adjustment in a systematic way is proposed based on the FOCS analysis. The method requires performing data acquisition at two different input polarisations. Based on these measurements, the optimal laser source polarisation can be found. Rigid-reflector spaceborne antennas (RRSAs) are well-suited for high-frequency application scenarios due to their high surface accuracy. However, the low stowing efficiency of RRSAs limits the aperture diameters and further deteriorates the electromagnetic (EM) performances in terms of gain, resolution and sensitivity. After conducting systematic feature analysis with respect to several typical RRSAs, we propose a novel type of RRSA to solve the aforementioned problems. Inspired by the pose adjustment process for a higher stowing efficiency of traditional RRSAs, we also propose a new segmentation scheme of a reflective surface consisting of a deviation-angle panel that facilitates a higher stowing efficiency. Based on this scheme, its corresponding folded configuration is implemented by combining Euler's rotation theorem and the idea of parameter identification. In addition, we also compare the stowing efficiency of different schemes to verify the high stowing efficiency of the configuration. Finally, we perform mechanism/structure design and deployment dynamics to demonstrate that the antenna can be successfully deployed and exhibits excellent deployment quality. An Mw 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, on 5 September 2022. This seismic event triggered numerous coseismic geohazards in the seismic zone. In this study, the ascending- and descending-track synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images observed by the Sentinel-1A satellite are utilized to extract the coseismic surface deformation of the Luding earthquake. Subsequently, a faulting model is estimated based on the elastic dislocation theory, under the constraint of the InSAR observation. Additionally, the POT technique was employed to detect coseismic geohazards. High-spatial-resolution optical remote sensing images served to validate the reliability of the detection results. The coseismic interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) deformation field indicated a maximum deformation of ~190 mm and ~140 mm along the ascending and descending tracks, respectively. The estimated best-fitting faulting model suggests that the optimal seismogenic fault strike and dip angles are 169.3° and 70°, respectively. The fault slip predominantly exhibits left-lateral strike-slip characteristics and is concentrated at depths of 3–12 km. The estimated maximum fault slip was 2.67 m, occurring at a depth of 7 km. The pixel offset tracking (POT) result derived from the pre- and post-earthquake SAR images found a total of 245 medium- to large-scale coseismic geohazards, with a verification rate from optical images exceeding 64%. The distribution of these geohazards is notably dense within the significant fault rupture segment. Atmospheric delay correction remains a major challenge for interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technology. In this paper, we first reviewed several commonly used methods for tropospheric delay correction in InSAR. Subsequently, considering the large volume and high temporal resolution of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) station measurement data, we proposed a method for spatial prediction of the InSAR tropospheric delay phase based on the backpropagation (BP) neural network and GNSS zenith total delay (ZTD). Using 42 Sentinel-1 interferograms over the Los Angeles area in 2021 as an example, we validated the accuracy of the BP + GNSS method in spatially predicting ZTD and compared the correction effects of BP + GNSS and five other methods on interferograms using the standard deviation (StaD) and structural similarity (SSIM). The results demonstrated that the BP + GNSS method reduced the root-mean-square error (RMSE) in spatial prediction by approximately 95.50% compared to the conventional interpolation method. After correction using the BP + GNSS method, StaD decreased in 92.86% of interferograms, with an average decrease of 52.03%, indicating significantly better correction effects than other methods. The SSIM of the BP + GNSS method was lower in mountainous and high-altitude areas with obvious terrain changes in the east and north, exhibiting excellent and stable correction performance in different seasons, particularly outperforming the GACOS method in autumn and winter. The BP + GNSS method can be employed to generate InSAR tropospheric delay maps with high temporal and spatial resolution, effectively addressing the challenge of removing InSAR tropospheric delay signals in areas with significant terrain variations. Satellite altimetry has been proven to measure water levels in lakes and rivers effectively. The Sentinel-3A satellite is equipped with a dual-frequency synthetic aperture radar altimeter (SRAL), which allows for inland water levels to be measured with higher precision and improved spatial resolution. However, in regions at middle and high latitudes, where many lakes are covered by ice during the winter, the non-uniformity of the altimeter footprint can substantially impact the accuracy of water level estimates, resulting in abnormal readings when applying standard SRAL synthetic aperture radar (SAR) waveform retracking algorithms (retrackers). In this study, a modified method is proposed to determine the current surface type of lakes, analyzing changes in backscattering coefficients and brightness temperature. This method aligns with ground station observations and ensures consistent surface type classification. Additionally, a dual-threshold algorithm that addresses the limitations of the original bimodal algorithm by identifying multiple peaks without needing elevation correction is introduced. This innovative approach significantly enhances the precision of equivalent water level measurements for ice-covered lakes. The study retrieves and compares the water level data of nine North American lakes covered by ice from 2016–2019 using the dual-threshold and the SAMOSA-3 algorithm with in situ data. For Lake Athabasca, Cedar Lake, Great Slave Lake, Lake Winnipeg, and Lake Erie, the root mean square error (RMSE) of SAMOSA-3 is 39.58 cm, 46.18 cm, 45.75 cm, 42.64 cm, and 6.89 cm, respectively. However, the dual-threshold algorithm achieves an RMSE of 6.75 cm, 9.47 cm, 5.90 cm, 7.67 cm, and 5.01 cm, respectively, representing a decrease of 75%, 79%, 87%, 82%, and 27%, respectively, compared to SAMOSA-3. The dual-threshold algorithm can accurately estimate water levels in ice-covered lakes during winter. In recent years, super-resolution imaging techniques have been intensely introduced to enhance the azimuth resolution of real aperture scanning radar (RASR). However, there is a paucity of research on the subject of sea surface imaging with small incident angles for complex scenarios. This research endeavors to explore super-resolution imaging for sea surface monitoring, with a specific emphasis on grounded or shipborne platforms. To tackle the inescapable interference of sea clutter, it was segregated from the imaging objects and was modeled alongside I/Q channel noise within the maximum likelihood framework, thus mitigating clutter's impact. Simultaneously, for characterizing the non-stationary regions of the monitoring scene, we harnessed the Markov random field (MRF) model for its two-dimensional (2D) spatial representational capacity, augmented by a quadratic term to bolster outlier resilience. Subsequently, the maximum a posteriori (MAP) criterion was employed to unite the ML function with the statistical model regarding imaging scene. This hybrid model forms the core of our super-resolution methodology. Finally, a fast iterative threshold shrinkage method was applied to solve this objective function, yielding stable estimates of the monitored scene. Through the validation of simulation and real data experiments, the superiority of the proposed approach in recovering the monitoring scenes and clutter suppression has been verified. The tropospheric delay caused by the temporal and spatial variation of meteorological parameters is the main error source in interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) applications for geodesy. To minimize the impact of tropospheric delay errors, it is necessary to select the appropriate tropospheric delay correction method for different regions. In this study, the interferogram results of the InSAR, corrected for tropospheric delay using the Linear, Generic Atmospheric Correction Online Service for InSAR (GACOS) and ERA-5 atmospheric reanalysis dataset (ERA5) methods, are presented for the study area of the junction of the Hengduan Mountains and the Yunnan–Kweichow Plateau, which is significantly influenced by the plateau monsoon climate. Four representative regions, Eryuan, Binchuan, Dali, and Yangbi, are selected for the study and analysis. The phase standard deviation (STD), phase–height correlation, and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) data were used to evaluate the effect of tropospheric delay correction by integrating topographic, seasonal, and meteorological factors. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) altimeters can achieve higher spatial resolution and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than conventional altimeters by Doppler beam sharpening or focused SAR imaging methods. To improve the estimation accuracy of waveform re-tracking, several average echo power models for SAR altimetry have been proposed in previous works. However, these models were mainly proposed for satellite altimeters and are not applicable to high-mobility platforms such as aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and missiles, which may have a large antenna mis-pointing angle and significant vertical movement. In this paper, we propose a novel semi-analytical waveform model and signal processing method for SAR altimeters with vertical movement and large antenna mis-pointing angles. A new semi-analytical expression that can be numerically computed for the flat pulse response (FSIR) is proposed. The 2D delay–Doppler map is then obtained by numerical computation of the convolution between the proposed analytical function, the probability density function, and the time/frequency point target response of the radar. A novel delay compensation method based on sinc interpolation for SAR altimeters with vertical movement is proposed to obtain the multilook echo, which can optimally handle non-integer delays and maintain signal frequency characteristics. In addition, a height estimation method based on least squares (LS) estimation is proposed. The LS estimator does not have an analytical solution, and requires iterative solving through gradient descent. We evaluate the performance of the proposed estimation strategy using simulated data for typical airborne scenarios. When the mis-pointing angles are within 10 degrees, the normalized quadratic error (NQE) of the proposed model is less than 10−10 and the RMSE of τ obtained by the re-tracking method fitted by the proposed model is less than 0.2 m, which indicates the high applicability of the model and accuracy of the re-tracking method. In classical radar imaging, such as in Earth remote sensing, electromagnetic waves are usually assumed to propagate in free space. However, in numerous applications, such as ground penetrating radar or non-destructive testing, this assumption no longer holds. When there is a multi-material background, the subsurface image reconstruction becomes considerably more complex. Imaging can be performed in the spatial domain or, equivalently, in the wavenumber domain (k-space). In subsurface imaging, to date, objects with a non-planar surface are commonly reconstructed in the spatial domain, by the Backprojection algorithm combined with ray tracing, which is computationally demanding. On the other hand, objects with a planar surface can be reconstructed more efficiently in k-space. However, many non-planar surfaces are partly planar. Therefore, in this paper, a novel concept is introduced that makes use of the efficient k-space-based reconstruction algorithms for partly planar scenarios, too. The proposed algorithm forms an image from superposing sub-images where as many image parts as possible are reconstructed in the wavenumber domain, and only as many as necessary are reconstructed in the spatial domain. For this, a segmentation scheme is developed to determine which parts of the image volume can be reconstructed in the wavenumber domain. The novel concept is verified by measurements, both from monostatic synthetic aperture radar data and multiple-input–multiple-output radar data.
