Visual information affects static postural control, but how it affects dynamic postural control still needs to be fully understood. This study investigated the effect of proprioception weighting, influenced by the presence or absence of visual information, on dynamic posture control during voluntary trunk movements. We recorded trunk movement angle and angular velocity, center of pressure (COP), electromyographic, and electroencephalography signals from 35 healthy young adults performing a standing trunk flexion–extension task under two conditions (Vision and No-Vision). A random forest analysis identified the 10 most important variables for classifying the conditions, followed by a Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed lower maximum forward COP displacement and trunk flexion angle, and faster maximum flexion angular velocity in the No-Vision condition. Additionally, the alpha/beta ratio of the POz during the switch phase was higher in the No-Vision condition. These findings suggest that visual deprivation affects cognitive- and sensory-integration-related brain regions during movement phases, indicating that sensory re-weighting due to visual deprivation impacts motor control. The mechanical properties of fissured sandstone will deteriorate under water–rock interaction. It is crucial to extract the precursor information of fissured sandstone instability under water–rock interaction. The potential of each acoustic emission (AE) parameter as a precursor for instability in the failure process of fissured sandstone was investigated in this study. An experimental dataset comprising 586 acoustic emission experiments was established, and subsequent classification training and testing were conducted using three machine learning (ML) models: AdaBoost, MLP, and Random Forest (RF). The primary parameters for identifying the instability risk state of fissured sandstone include acoustic emission ringing count, energy (mV·ms), centroid frequency, peak frequency, Rise Angle (RA), Average Frequency (AF), b value, and the natural/saturated state of fissured sandstone: state. To enhance data utilization, a 10-fold cross-validation method was employed during the model training process. The machine learning models were developed and designed to identify the instability risk of fissured sandstone under the natural and saturated states. The results demonstrated that the established RF model was capable of identifying fissured sandstone instability risks with an accuracy of 97.87%. Feature importance analysis revealed that state and b value exerted the most significant influence on identification results. The Spearman correlation coefficient was utilized to assess the correlation between input features. This study can provide technical support to identify the risk of instability of fissured sandstones under both natural and saturated water conditions. Based on the models developed in this study, it is possible to implement an early warning method for instability in fissured sandstone that meets realistic working conditions. Compared with the traditional empirical and formulaic methods, the machine learning method can more quickly process huge amounts of AE data and accurately identify the damage state of fissured sandstone. The study comprehensively evaluates low-cost CO2 sensors from different price tiers, assessing their performance against a reference-grade instrument and exploring the possibility of calibration using different machine learning techniques. Three sensors (Sunrise AB by Senseair, K30 CO2 by Senseair, and GMP 343 by Vaisala) were tested alongside a reference instrument (Los Gatos precision greenhouse gas analyzer). The results revealed differences in sensor performance, with the higher cost Vaisala sensors exhibiting superior accuracy. Despite its lower price, the Sunrise sensors still demonstrated reasonable accuracy. Meanwhile, the K30 sensor measurements displayed higher variability and noise. Machine learning models, including linear regression, gradient boosting regression, and random forest regression, were employed for sensor calibration. In general, linear regression models performed best for extrapolating data, whereas decision tree-based models were generally more useful in handling non-linear datasets. Notably, a stack ensemble model combining these techniques outperformed the individual models and significantly improved sensor accuracy by approximately 65%. Overall, this study contributes to filling the gap in intercomparing CO2 sensors across different price categories and underscores the potential of machine learning for enhancing sensor accuracy, particularly in low-cost sensor applications. A common challenge for exoskeleton control is discerning operator intent to provide seamless actuation of the device with the operator. One way to accomplish this is with joint angle estimation algorithms and multiple sensors on the human–machine system. However, the question remains of what can be accomplished with just one sensor. The objective of this study was to deploy a modular testing approach to test the performance of two joint angle estimation models—a kinematic extrapolation algorithm and a Random Forest machine learning algorithm—when each was informed solely with kinematic gait data from a single potentiometer on an ankle exoskeleton mock-up. This study demonstrates (i) the feasibility of implementing a modular approach to exoskeleton mock-up evaluation to promote continuity between testing configurations and (ii) that a Random Forest algorithm yielded lower realized errors of estimated joint angles and a decreased actuation time than the kinematic model when deployed on the physical device. Accurate estimation of the distribution of POC in the sea surface is an important issue in understanding the carbon cycle at the basin scale in the ocean. This study explores the best machine learning approach to determine the distribution of POC in the ocean surface layer based on data obtained using satellite remote sensing. In order to estimate and verify the accuracy of this method, it is necessary to obtain a large amount of POC data from field observations, so this study was conducted in the Mediterranean Sea, where such data have been obtained and published. The research initially utilizes the Geographic Detector (GD) method to identify spatial correlations between POC and 47 environmental factors in the region. Four machine learning models of a Bayesian optimized random forest (BRF), a backpropagation neural network, adaptive boosting, and extreme gradient boosting were utilized to construct POC assessment models. Model validation yielded that the BRF exhibited superior performance in estimating sea-surface POC. To build a more accurate tuneRanger random forest (TRRF) model, we introduced the tuneRanger R package for further optimization, resulting in an R2 of 0.868, a mean squared error of 1.119 (mg/m3)2, and a mean absolute error of 1.041 mg/m3. It was employed to estimate the surface POC concentrations in the Mediterranean for May and June 2017. Spatial analysis revealed higher concentrations in the west and north and lower concentrations in the east and south, with higher levels near the coast and lower levels far from the coast. Additionally, we deliberated on the impact of human activities on the surface POC in the Mediterranean. This research contributes a high-precision method for satellite retrieval of surface POC concentrations in the Mediterranean, thereby enriching the understanding of POC dynamics in this area. Land-use and land-cover change (LULCC) is a critical environmental issue that has significant effects on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and climate change. This study examines the land-use and land-cover (LULC) spatiotemporal dynamics across a three-decade period (1998–2023) in a district area. In order to forecast the LULCC patterns, this study suggests a hybrid strategy that combines the random forest method with multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and Markov chain analysis. To predict the dynamics of LULC changes for the year 2035, a hybrid technique based on multi-layer perceptron and Markov chain model analysis (MLP-MCA) was employed. The area of developed land has increased significantly, while the amount of bare land, vegetation, and forest cover have all decreased. This is because the principal land types have changed due to population growth and economic expansion. This study also discovered that between 1998 and 2023, the built-up area increased by 468 km2 as a result of the replacement of natural resources. It is estimated that 25.04% of the study area's urbanization will increase by 2035. The performance of the model was confirmed with an overall accuracy of 90% and a kappa coefficient of around 0.89. It is important to use advanced predictive models to guide sustainable urban development strategies. Prevalence estimates of Parkinson's disease (PD)—the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disease—are generally underestimated due to issues surrounding diagnostic accuracy, symptomatic undiagnosed cases, suboptimal prodromal monitoring, and limited screening access. Remotely monitored wearable devices and sensors provide precise, objective, and frequent measures of motor and non-motor symptoms. Here, we used consumer-grade wearable device and sensor data from the WATCH-PD study to develop a PD screening tool aimed at eliminating the gap between patient symptoms and diagnosis. Early-stage PD patients (n = 82) and age-matched comparison participants (n = 50) completed a multidomain assessment battery during a one-year longitudinal multicenter study. Using disease- and behavior-relevant feature engineering and multivariate machine learning modeling of early-stage PD status, we developed a highly accurate (92.3%), sensitive (90.0%), and specific (100%) random forest classification model (AUC = 0.92) that performed well across environmental and platform contexts. This study introduces an innovative approach by incorporating statistical offset features, range profiles, time–frequency analyses, and azimuth–range–time characteristics to effectively identify various human daily activities. Our technique utilizes nine feature vectors consisting of six statistical offset features and three principal component analysis network (PCANet) fusion attributes. These statistical offset features are derived from combined elevation and azimuth data, considering their spatial angle relationships. The fusion attributes are generated through concurrent 1D networks using CNN-BiLSTM. The process begins with the temporal fusion of 3D range–azimuth–time data, followed by PCANet integration. Subsequently, a conventional classification model is employed to categorize a range of actions. Our methodology was tested with 21,000 samples across fourteen categories of human daily activities, demonstrating the effectiveness of our proposed solution. The experimental outcomes highlight the superior robustness of our method, particularly when using the Margenau–Hill Spectrogram for time–frequency analysis. When employing a random forest classifier, our approach outperformed other classifiers in terms of classification efficacy, achieving an average sensitivity, precision, F1, specificity, and accuracy of 98.25%, 98.25%, 98.25%, 99.87%, and 99.75%, respectively. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) refers to the capability of the heart rhythm to vary at different times, typically reflecting the regulation of the heart by the autonomic nervous system. In recent years, with advancements in Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal processing technology, HRV features reflect various aspects of cardiac activity, such as variability in heart rate, cardiac health status, and responses. We extracted key features of HRV and used them to develop and evaluate an automatic recognition model for cardiac diseases. Consequently, we proposed the HRV Heart Disease Recognition (HHDR) method, employing the Spectral Magnitude Quantification (SMQ) technique for feature extraction. Firstly, the HRV signals are extracted through electrocardiogram signal processing. Then, by analyzing parts of the HRV signal within various frequency ranges, the SMQ method extracts rich features of partial information. Finally, the Random Forest (RF) classification computational method is employed to classify the extracted information, achieving efficient and accurate cardiac disease recognition. Experimental results indicate that this method surpasses current technologies in recognizing cardiac diseases, with an average accuracy rate of 95.1% for normal/diseased classification, and an average accuracy of 84.8% in classifying five different disease categories. This study delves into decoding hand gestures using surface electromyography (EMG) signals collected via a precision Myo-armband sensor, leveraging machine learning algorithms. The research entails rigorous data preprocessing to extract features and labels from raw EMG data. Following partitioning into training and testing sets, four traditional machine learning models are scrutinized for their efficacy in classifying finger movements across seven distinct gestures. The analysis includes meticulous parameter optimization and five-fold cross-validation to evaluate model performance. Among the models assessed, the Random Forest emerges as the top performer, consistently delivering superior precision, recall, and F1-score values across gesture classes, with ROC-AUC scores surpassing 99%. Given the complex powertrain of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and diversified vehicle platooning synergy constraints, a control strategy that simultaneously considers inter-vehicle synergy control and energy economy is one of the key technologies to improve transportation efficiency and release the energy-saving potential of platooning vehicles. In this paper, an energy-oriented hybrid cooperative adaptive cruise control (eHCACC) strategy is proposed for an FCEV platoon, aiming to enhance energy-saving potential while ensuring stable car-following performance. The eHCACC employs a hybrid cooperative control architecture, consisting of a top-level centralized controller (TCC) and bottom-level distributed controllers (BDCs). The TCC integrates an eco-driving CACC (eCACC) strategy based on the minimum principle and random forest, which generates optimal reference velocity datasets by aligning the comprehensive control objectives of the platoon and addressing the car-following performance and economic efficiency of the platoon. Concurrently, to further unleash energy-saving potential, the BDCs utilize the equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS) to determine optimal powertrain control inputs by combining the reference datasets with detailed optimization information and system states of the powertrain components. Functional mobility tests, such as the L test of functional mobility, are recommended to provide clinicians with information regarding the mobility progress of lower-limb amputees. Smartphone inertial sensors have been used to perform subtask segmentation on functional mobility tests, providing further clinically useful measures such as fall risk. However, L test subtask segmentation rule-based algorithms developed for able-bodied individuals have not produced sufficiently acceptable results when tested with lower-limb amputee data. In this paper, a random forest machine learning model was trained to segment subtasks of the L test for application to lower-limb amputees. The model was trained with 105 trials completed by able-bodied participants and 25 trials completed by lower-limb amputee participants and tested using a leave-one-out method with lower-limb amputees. This algorithm successfully classified subtasks within a one-foot strike for most lower-limb amputee participants. A deep-seated landslide could release numerous microseismic signals from creep-slip movement, which includes a rock-soil slip from the slope surface and a rock-soil shear rupture in the subsurface. Machine learning can effectively enhance the classification of microseismic signals in landslide seismic monitoring and interpret the mechanical processes of landslide motion. In this paper, eight sets of triaxial seismic sensors were deployed inside the deep-seated landslide, Jiuxianping, China, and a large number of microseismic signals related to the slope movement were obtained through 1-year-long continuous monitoring. All the data were passed through the seismic event identification mode, the ratio of the long-time average and short-time average. We selected 11 days of data, manually classified 4131 data into eight categories, and created a microseismic event database. Classical machine learning algorithms and ensemble learning algorithms were tested in this paper. In order to evaluate the seismic event classification performance of each algorithmic model, we evaluated the proposed algorithms through the dimensions of the accuracy, precision, and recall of each model. The validation results demonstrated that the best performing decision tree algorithm among the classical machine learning algorithms had an accuracy of 88.75%, while the ensemble algorithms, including random forest, Gradient Boosting Trees, Extreme Gradient Boosting, and Light Gradient Boosting Machine, had an accuracy range from 93.5% to 94.2% and also achieved better results in the combined evaluation of the precision, recall, and F1 score. The specific classification tests for each microseismic event category showed the same results. Cyber-security challenges are growing globally and are specifically targeting critical infrastructure. Conventional countermeasure practices are insufficient to provide proactive threat hunting. In this study, random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), AdaBoost, and hybrid models were applied for proactive threat hunting. By automating detection, the hybrid machine learning-based method improves threat hunting and frees up time to concentrate on high-risk warnings. These models are implemented on approach devices, access, and principal servers. The efficacy of several models, including hybrid approaches, is assessed. The findings of these studies are that the AdaBoost model provides the highest efficiency, with a 0.98 ROC area and 95.7% accuracy, detecting 146 threats with 29 false positives. Similarly, the random forest model achieved a 0.98 area under the ROC curve and a 95% overall accuracy, accurately identifying 132 threats and reducing false positives to 31. The hybrid model exhibited promise with a 0.89 ROC area and 94.9% accuracy, though it requires further refinement to lower its false positive rate. This research emphasizes the role of machine learning in improving cyber-security, particularly for critical infrastructure. The detection performance of radar is significantly impaired by active jamming and mutual interference from other radars. This paper proposes a radio signal modulation recognition method to accurately recognize these signals, which helps in the jamming cancellation decisions. Based on the ensemble learning stacking algorithm improved by meta-feature enhancement, the proposed method adopts random forests, K-nearest neighbors, and Gaussian naive Bayes as the base-learners, with logistic regression serving as the meta-learner. It takes the multi-domain features of signals as input, which include time-domain features including fuzzy entropy, slope entropy, and Hjorth parameters; frequency-domain features, including spectral entropy; and fractal-domain features, including fractal dimension. The simulation experiment, including seven common signal types of radar and active jamming, was performed for the effectiveness validation and performance evaluation. The aim of this study is to develop a practical software solution for real-time recognition of sign language words using two arms. This will facilitate communication between hearing-impaired individuals and those who can hear. We are aware of several sign language recognition systems developed using different technologies, including cameras, armbands, and gloves. However, the system we propose in this study stands out for its practicality, utilizing surface electromyography (muscle activity) and inertial measurement unit (motion dynamics) data from both arms. We address the drawbacks of other methods, such as high costs, low accuracy due to ambient light and obstacles, and complex hardware requirements, which have limited their practical application. Our software can run on different operating systems using digital signal processing and machine learning methods specific to this study. For the test, we created a dataset of 80 words based on their frequency of use in daily life and performed a thorough feature extraction process. We tested the recognition performance using various classifiers and parameters and compared the results. The random forest algorithm emerged as the most successful, achieving a remarkable 99.875% accuracy, while the naïve Bayes algorithm had the lowest success rate with 87.625% accuracy. The new system promises to significantly improve communication for people with hearing disabilities and ensures seamless integration into daily life without compromising user comfort or lifestyle quality. Pavement condition monitoring is an important task in road asset management and efficient abnormal pavement condition detection is critical for timely conservation management decisions. The present work introduces a mobile pavement condition monitoring approach utilizing low-cost sensor technology and machine-learning-based methodologies. Specifically, an on-board unit (OBU) embedded with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and global positioning system (GPS) is applied to collect vehicle posture data in real time. Through a comprehensive analysis of both time domain and frequency domain data features for both normal and abnormal pavement conditions, feature engineering is conducted to identify how the most important features affect abnormal pavement condition recognition. Six machine learning models are then developed to identify different types of pavement conditions. The performance of different algorithms and the significance of different features are then analyzed. Moreover, the influence of vehicle speed on pavement condition assessment is further examined and classification models for different speed intervals are developed. The results indicate that the random forest (RF) model that considers vehicle speed achieves the best performance in pavement condition monitoring. Combustion optimization is an effective way to improve the efficiency of thermal power generation and reduce carbon and NOx emissions. Real-time and precise NOx emission prediction is the basis for combustion optimization control of thermal power plants. To construct an accurate NOx concentration prediction model, a novel just-in-time learning (JITL) method based on random forest (RF) is proposed in the present work. With this method, first, an improved permutation importance algorithm is proposed to extract important variables. In addition, a similarity index that incorporates temporal and spatial measures is defined to select a local training set representative of the process data. Moreover, considering the influence of model parameters on prediction performance under different working conditions, a process monitoring method based on a moving window (MW) is used to monitor the change in working conditions and guide online updating. The experimental results show that the proposed method has excellent prediction accuracy, with a coefficient of determination of 0.9319, a root-mean-square error of 3.6960 mg/m3, and an average absolute error of 2.7718 mg/m3 on the test set, making it superior to other traditional methods. The growing importance of edge and fog computing in the modern IT infrastructure is driven by the rise of decentralized applications. However, resource allocation within these frameworks is challenging due to varying device capabilities and dynamic network conditions. Conventional approaches often result in poor resource use and slowed advancements. This study presents a novel strategy for enhancing resource allocation in edge and fog computing by integrating machine learning with the blockchain for reliable trust management. Our proposed framework, called CyberGuard, leverages the blockchain's inherent immutability and decentralization to establish a trustworthy and transparent network for monitoring and verifying edge and fog computing transactions. CyberGuard combines the Trust2Vec model with conventional machine-learning models like SVM, KNN, and random forests, creating a robust mechanism for assessing trust and security risks. Through detailed optimization and case studies, CyberGuard demonstrates significant improvements in resource allocation efficiency and overall system performance in real-world scenarios. With cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remaining a leading cause of mortality, wearable devices for monitoring cardiac activity have gained significant, renewed interest among the medical community. This paper introduces an innovative ECG monitoring system based on a single-lead ECG machine, enhanced using machine learning methods. The system only processes and analyzes ECG data, but it can also be used to predict potential heart disease at an early stage. The wearable device was built on the ADS1298 and a microcontroller STM32L151xD. A server module based on the architecture style of the REST API was designed to facilitate interaction with the web-based segment of the system. The module is responsible for receiving data in real time from the microcontroller and delivering this data to the web-based segment of the module. Algorithms for analyzing ECG signals have been developed, including band filter artifact removal, K-means clustering for signal segmentation, and PQRST analysis. Machine learning methods, such as isolation forests, have been employed for ECG anomaly detection. Moreover, a comparative analysis with various machine learning methods, including logistic regression, random forest, SVM, XGBoost, decision forest, and CNNs, was conducted to predict the incidence of cardiovascular diseases. (1) Background: The objective of this study was to predict the vascular health status of elderly women during exercise using pulse wave data and Temporal Convolutional Neural Networks (TCN); (2) Methods: A total of 492 healthy elderly women aged 60–75 years were recruited for the study. The study utilized a cross-sectional design. Vascular endothelial function was assessed non-invasively using Flow-Mediated Dilation (FMD). Pulse wave characteristics were quantified using photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors, and motion-induced noise in the PPG signals was mitigated through the application of a recursive least squares (RLS) adaptive filtering algorithm. A fixed-load cycling exercise protocol was employed. A TCN was constructed to classify flow-mediated dilation (FMD) into "optimal", "impaired", and "at risk" levels; (3) Results: TCN achieved an average accuracy of 79.3%, 84.8%, and 83.2% in predicting FMD at the "optimal", "impaired", and "at risk" levels, respectively. The results of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) comparison demonstrated that the accuracy of the TCN in predicting FMD at the impaired and at-risk levels was significantly higher than that of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks and Random Forest algorithms; (4) Conclusions: The use of pulse wave data during exercise combined with the TCN for predicting the vascular health status of elderly women demonstrated high accuracy, particularly in predicting impaired and at-risk FMD levels. Blockchain is a developing technology that promises advancements when it is applied to other fields. Applying blockchain to other systems requires a customized blockchain model to satisfy the requirements of different application fields. One important area is to integrate blockchain with smart spaces and the Internet of Things to process, manage, and store data. Actually, smart spaces and Internet of Things systems include various types of transactions in terms of sensitivity. The sensitivity can be considered as correctness sensitivity, time sensitivity, and specialization sensitivity. Correctness sensitivity means that the systems should accept precise or approximated data in some cases, whereas time sensitivity means that there are time bounds for each type of transaction, and specialization sensitivity applies when some transactions are processed only by specialized people. Therefore, this work introduces the smart partitioned blockchain model, where we use machine learning and deep learning models to classify transactions into different pools according to their sensitivity levels. Then, each pool is mapped to a specific part of the smart partitioned blockchain model. The parts can be permissioned or permissionless. The permissioned parts can have different sub-parts if needed. Consequently, the smart partitioned blockchain can be customized to meet application-field requirements. In the experimental results, we use bank and medical datasets with a predefined sensitivity threshold for classification accuracy in each system. The bank transactions are critical, whereas the classification of the medical dataset is speculative and less critical. The Random Forest model is used for bank-dataset classification, and its accuracy reaches 100%, whereas Sequential Deep Learning is used for the medical dataset, which reaches 91%. Movement-related cortical potential (MRCP) is observed in EEG recordings prior to a voluntary movement. It has been used for e.g., quantifying motor learning and for brain-computer interfacing (BCIs). The MRCP amplitude is affected by various factors, but the effect of caffeine is underexplored. The aim of this study was to investigate if a cup of coffee with 85 mg caffeine modulated the MRCP amplitude and the classification of MRCPs versus idle activity, which estimates BCI performance. Twenty-six healthy participants performed 2 × 100 ankle dorsiflexion separated by a 10-min break before a cup of coffee was consumed, followed by another 100 movements. EEG was recorded during the movements and divided into epochs, which were averaged to extract three average MRCPs that were compared. Also, idle activity epochs were extracted. Features were extracted from the epochs and classified using random forest analysis. The MRCP amplitude did not change after consuming caffeine. There was a slight increase of two percentage points in the classification accuracy after consuming caffeine. In conclusion, a cup of coffee with 85 mg caffeine does not affect the MRCP amplitude, and improves MRCP-based BCI performance slightly. Bathymetry estimation is essential for various applications in port management, navigation safety, marine engineering, and environmental monitoring. Satellite remote sensing data can rapidly acquire the bathymetry of the target shallow waters, and researchers have developed various models to invert the water depth from the satellite data. Geographically weighted regression (GWR) is a common method for satellite-based bathymetry estimation. However, in sediment-laden water environments, especially ports, the suspended materials significantly affect the performance of GWR for depth inversion. This study proposes a novel approach that integrates GWR with Random Forest (RF) techniques, using longitude, latitude, and multispectral remote sensing reflectance as input variables. This approach effectively addresses the challenge of estimating bathymetry in turbid waters by considering the strong correlation between water depth and geographical location. The proposed method not only overcomes the limitations of turbid waters but also improves the accuracy of depth inversion results in such complex aquatic settings. The use of wearable sensors, such as inertial measurement units (IMUs), and machine learning for human intent recognition in health-related areas has grown considerably. However, there is limited research exploring how IMU quantity and placement affect human movement intent prediction (HMIP) at the joint level. The objective of this study was to analyze various combinations of IMU input signals to maximize the machine learning prediction accuracy for multiple simple movements. We trained a Random Forest algorithm to predict future joint angles across these movements using various sensor features. We hypothesized that joint angle prediction accuracy would increase with the addition of IMUs attached to adjacent body segments and that non-adjacent IMUs would not increase the prediction accuracy. The results indicated that the addition of adjacent IMUs to current joint angle inputs did not significantly increase the prediction accuracy (RMSE of 1.92° vs. 3.32° at the ankle, 8.78° vs. 12.54° at the knee, and 5.48° vs. 9.67° at the hip). Additionally, including non-adjacent IMUs did not increase the prediction accuracy (RMSE of 5.35° vs. 5.55° at the ankle, 20.29° vs. 20.71° at the knee, and 14.86° vs. 13.55° at the hip). This study explores the feasibility of analyzing soil organic carbon (SOC) in carbonate-rich soils using visible near-infrared spectroscopy (VIS-NIR). Employing a combination of datasets, feature groups, variable selection methods, and regression models, 22 modeling pipelines were developed. Spectral data and spectral data combined with carbonate contents were used as datasets, while raw reflectance, first-derivative (FD) reflectance, and second-derivative (SD) reflectance constituted the feature groups. The variable selection methods included Spearman correlation, Variable Importance in Projection (VIP), and Random Frog (Rfrog), while Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR), Random Forest Regression (RFR), and Support Vector Regression (SVR) were the regression models. The obtained results indicated that the FD preprocessing method combined with RF, results in the model that is sufficiently robust and stable to be applied to soils rich in calcium carbonate. As one of the main external factors affecting the fire extinguishing accuracy of sprinkler systems, it is necessary to analyze and study random wind. However, in practical applications, there is little research on the impact of random wind on sprinkler fire extinguishing points. To address this issue, a new random wind acquisition system was constructed in this paper, and a method for predicting jet trajectory falling points in Random Forest (RF) under the influence of random wind was proposed, and compared with the commonly used prediction model Support Vector Machine (SVM). The method in this article reduces the error in the x direction of the 50 m prediction result from 2.11 m to 1.53 m, the error in the y direction from 0.64 m to 0.6 m, and the total mean absolute error (MAE) from 31.3 to 23.5. Simultaneously, predict the falling points of jet trajectory at different distances under the influence of random wind, to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method in practical applications. The experimental results show that the system and method proposed in this article can effectively improve the influence of random wind on the falling points of a jet trajectory. Few-shot object detection is a challenging task aimed at recognizing novel classes and localizing with limited labeled data. Although substantial achievements have been obtained, existing methods mostly struggle with forgetting and lack stability across various few-shot training samples. In this paper, we reveal two gaps affecting meta-knowledge transfer, leading to unstable performance and forgetting in meta-learning-based frameworks. To this end, we propose sample normalization, a simple yet effective method that enhances performance stability and decreases forgetting. Additionally, we apply Z-score normalization to mitigate the hubness problem in high-dimensional feature space. Experimental results on the PASCAL VOC data set demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing methods in both accuracy and stability, achieving up to +4.4 mAP@0.5 and +5.3 mAR in a single run, with +4.8 mAP@0.5 and +5.1 mAR over 10 random experiments on average. Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is the emerging next-generation internet paradigm. The Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite mega-constellation based on ICN can achieve seamless global coverage and provide excellent support for Internet of Things (IoT) services. Additionally, in-network caching, typically characteristic of ICN, plays a paramount role in network performance. Therefore, the in-network caching policy is one of the hotspot problems. Especially, compared to caching traditional internet content, in-networking caching IoT content is more challenging, since the IoT content lifetime is small and transient. In this paper, firstly, the framework of the LEO satellite mega-constellation Information-Centric Networking for IoT (LEO-SMC-ICN-IoT) is proposed. Then, introducing the concept of "viscosity", the proposed Caching Algorithm based on the Random Forest (CARF) policy of satellite nodes combines both content popularity prediction and satellite nodes location prediction, for achieving good cache matching between the satellite nodes and content. And using the matching rule, the Random Forest (RF) algorithm is adopted to predict the matching relationship among satellite nodes and content for guiding the deployment of caches. Especially, the content is cached in advance at the future satellite to maintain communication with the current ground segment at the time of satellite switchover. Additionally, the policy considers both the IoT content lifetime and the freshness. Finally, a simulation platform with LEO satellite mega-constellation based on ICN is developed in Network Simulator 3 (NS-3). In hazardous environments like mining sites, mobile inspection robots play a crucial role in condition monitoring (CM) tasks, particularly by collecting various kinds of data, such as images. However, the sheer volume of collected image samples and existing noise pose challenges in processing and visualizing thermal anomalies. Recognizing these challenges, our study addresses the limitations of industrial big data analytics for mobile robot-generated image data. We present a novel, fully integrated approach involving a dimension reduction procedure. This includes a semantic segmentation technique utilizing the pre-trained VGG16 CNN architecture for feature selection, followed by random forest (RF) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) classifiers for the prediction of the pixel class labels. We also explore unsupervised learning using the PCA-K-means method for dimension reduction and classification of unlabeled thermal defects based on anomaly severity. Our comprehensive methodology aims to efficiently handle image-based CM tasks in hazardous environments. To validate its practicality, we applied our approach in a real-world scenario, and the results confirm its robust performance in processing and visualizing thermal data collected by mobile inspection robots. Spatialization and analysis of the gross domestic product of second and tertiary industries (GDP23) can effectively depict the socioeconomic status of regional development. However, existing studies mainly conduct GDP spatialization using nighttime light data; few studies specifically concentrated on the spatialization and analysis of GDP23 in a built-up area by combining multi-source remote sensing images. In this study, the NPP-VIIRS-like dataset and Sentinel-2 multi-spectral remote sensing images in six years were combined to precisely spatialize and analyze the variation patterns of the GDP23 in the built-up area of Zibo city, China. Sentinel-2 images and the random forest (RF) classification method based on PIE-Engine cloud platform were employed to extract built-up areas, in which the NPP-VIIRS-like dataset and comprehensive nighttime light index were used to indicate the nighttime light magnitudes to construct models to spatialize GDP23 and analyze their change patterns during the study period. The results found that (1) the RF classification method can accurately extract the built-up area with an overall accuracy higher than 0.90; the change patterns of built-up areas varied among districts and counties, with Yiyuan county being the only administrative region with an annual expansion rate of more than 1%. (2) The comprehensive nighttime light index is a viable indicator of GDP23 in the built-up area; the fitted model exhibited an R2 value of 0.82, and the overall relative errors of simulated GDP23 and statistical GDP23 were below 1%. (3) The year 2018 marked a significant turning point in the trajectory of GDP23 development in the study area; in 2018, Zhoucun district had the largest decrease in GDP23 at −52.36%. (4) GDP23 gradation results found that Zhangdian district exhibited the highest proportion of high GDP23 (>9%), while the proportions of low GDP23 regions in the remaining seven districts and counties all exceeded 60%. The innovation of this study is that the GDP23 in built-up areas were first precisely spatialized and analyzed using the NPP-VIIRS-like dataset and Sentinel-2 images. Stress recognition, particularly using machine learning (ML) with physiological data such as heart rate variability (HRV), holds promise for mental health interventions. However, limited datasets in affective computing and healthcare research can lead to inaccurate conclusions regarding the ML model performance. This study employed supervised learning algorithms to classify stress and relaxation states using HRV measures. To account for limitations associated with small datasets, robust strategies were implemented based on methodological recommendations for ML with a limited dataset, including data segmentation, feature selection, and model evaluation. Our findings highlight that the random forest model achieved the best performance in distinguishing stress from non-stress states. Notably, it showed higher performance in identifying stress from relaxation (F1-score: 86.3%) compared to neutral states (F1-score: 65.8%). Additionally, the model demonstrated generalizability when tested on independent secondary datasets, showcasing its ability to distinguish between stress and relaxation states. While our performance metrics might be lower than some previous studies, this likely reflects our focus on robust methodologies to enhance the generalizability and interpretability of ML models, which are crucial for real-world applications with limited datasets. Recently, explainability in machine and deep learning has become an important area in the field of research as well as interest, both due to the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) methods and understanding of the decisions made by models. The explainability of artificial intelligence (XAI) is due to the increasing consciousness in, among other things, data mining, error elimination, and learning performance by various AI algorithms. Moreover, XAI will allow the decisions made by models in problems to be more transparent as well as effective. In this study, models from the 'glass box' group of Decision Tree, among others, and the 'black box' group of Random Forest, among others, were proposed to understand the identification of selected types of currant powders. The learning process of these models was carried out to determine accuracy indicators such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. It was visualized using Local Interpretable Model Agnostic Explanations (LIMEs) to predict the effectiveness of identifying specific types of blackcurrant powders based on texture descriptors such as entropy, contrast, correlation, dissimilarity, and homogeneity. Bagging (Bagging_100), Decision Tree (DT0), and Random Forest (RF7_gini) proved to be the most effective models in the framework of currant powder interpretability. The measures of classifier performance in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score for Bagging_100, respectively, reached values of approximately 0.979. In comparison, DT0 reached values of 0.968, 0.972, 0.968, and 0.969, and RF7_gini reached values of 0.963, 0.964, 0.963, and 0.963. These models achieved classifier performance measures of greater than 96%. Low-cost ambient sensors have been identified as a promising technology for monitoring air pollution at a high spatio-temporal resolution. However, the pollutant data captured by these cost-effective sensors are less accurate than their conventional counterparts and require careful calibration to improve their accuracy and reliability. In this paper, we propose to leverage temporal information, such as the duration of time a sensor has been deployed and the time of day the reading was taken, in order to improve the calibration of low-cost sensors. This information is readily available and has so far not been utilized in the reported literature for the calibration of cost-effective ambient gas pollutant sensors. We make use of three data sets collected by research groups around the world, who gathered the data from field-deployed low-cost CO and NO2 sensors co-located with accurate reference sensors. Our investigation shows that using the temporal information as a co-variate can significantly improve the accuracy of common machine learning-based calibration techniques, such as Random Forest and Long Short-Term Memory. In order to realize the accurate and reliable fault diagnosis of hydraulic systems, a diagnostic model based on improved tuna swarm optimization (ITSO), optimized convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and bi-directional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) networks is proposed. Firstly, sensor selection is implemented using the random forest algorithm to select useful signals from six kinds of physical or virtual sensors including pressure, temperature, flow rate, vibration, motor power, and motor efficiency coefficient. After that, fused features are extracted by CNN, and then, BiLSTM is applied to learn the forward and backward information contained in the data. The ITSO algorithm is adopted to adaptively optimize the learning rate, regularization coefficient, and node number to obtain the optimal CNN-BiLSTM network. Improved Chebyshev chaotic mapping and the nonlinear reduction strategy are adopted to improve population initialization and individual position updating, further promoting the optimization effect of TSO. The experimental results show that the proposed method can automatically extract fusion features and effectively utilize multi-sensor information. The diagnostic accuracies of the plunger pump, cooler, throttle valve, and accumulator are 99.07%, 99.4%, 98.81%, and 98.51%, respectively. Geological hazards in Xinxian County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, are characterized by their small scale, wide distribution, and significant influence from regional tectonics. This study focuses on collapses and landslide hazards within the area, selecting twelve evaluation factors: aspect, slope shape, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), topographic relief, distance from geological structure, slope, distance from roads, land use cover type, area of land change (2012–2022), average annual rainfall (2012–2022), and river network density. Utilizing data from historical disaster sites across the region, the information quantity method and hierarchical analysis method are employed to ascertain the information quantity and weight of each factor. Subsequently, a random forest model is applied to perform susceptibility zoning of geological hazards in Xinxian County and to examine the characteristics of these geological disasters. The results show that in the study area, the primary factors influencing the development of geohazards are the distance from roads, rock groups, and distance from geological structure areas. A comparison of the susceptibility results obtained through two methods, the analytic hierarchy process information quantity method and the random forests model, reveals that the former exhibits a higher accuracy. This model categorizes the geohazard susceptibility in the study area into four levels: low, medium, high, and very high. Notably, the areas of very high and high susceptibility together cover 559.17 km2, constituting 35.99% of the study area's total area, and encompass 57 disaster sites, which represent 72.15% of all disaster sites. Geological hazards in Xinxian County frequently manifest on steep canyon inclines, along the curved and concave banks of mountain rivers, within watershed regions, on gully inclines, atop steep cliffs, and on artificially created slopes, among other sites. Areas with very high and high vulnerability to these hazards are mainly concentrated near the county's geological formations. The gneiss formations are widely exposed in Xinxian County, and the gneisses' strength is significantly changed under weathering, which makes the properties of the different degrees of weathering of the rock and soil bodies play a decisive role in the stability of the slopes. Dynamic wireless charging (DWC) has emerged as a viable approach to mitigate range anxiety by ensuring continuous and uninterrupted charging for electric vehicles in motion. DWC systems rely on the length of the transmitter, which can be categorized into long-track transmitters and segmented coil arrays. The segmented coil array, favored for its heightened efficiency and reduced electromagnetic interference, stands out as the preferred option. However, in such DWC systems, the need arises to detect the vehicle's position, specifically to activate the transmitter coils aligned with the receiver pad and de-energize uncoupled transmitter coils. This paper introduces various machine learning algorithms for precise vehicle position determination, accommodating diverse ground clearances of electric vehicles and various speeds. This paper focuses on the emissions of the three most sold categories of light vehicles: sedans, SUVs, and pickups. The research is carried out through an innovative methodology based on GPS and machine learning in real driving conditions. For this purpose, driving data from the three best-selling vehicles in Ecuador are acquired using a data logger with GPS included, and emissions are measured using a PEMS in six RDE tests with two standardized routes for each vehicle. The data obtained on Route 1 are used to estimate the gears used during driving using the K-means algorithm and classification trees. Then, the relative importance of driving variables is estimated using random forest techniques, followed by the training of ANNs to estimate CO2, CO, NOX, and HC. The data generated on Route 2 are used to validate the obtained ANNs. These models are fed with a dataset generated from 324, 300, and 316 km of random driving for each type of vehicle. The results of the model were compared with the IVE model and an OBD-based model, showing similar results without the need to mount the PEMS on the vehicles for long test drives. The generated model is robust to different traffic conditions as a result of its training and validation using a large amount of data obtained under completely random driving conditions. In recent years, soft robotic sensors have rapidly advanced to endow robots with the ability to interact with the external environment. Here, we propose a polymer optical fiber (POF) sensor with sensitive and stable detection performance for strain, bending, twisting, and pressing. Thus, we can map the real-time output light intensity of POF sensors to the spatial morphology of the elastomer. By leveraging the intrinsic correlations of neighboring sensors and machine learning algorithms, we realize the spatially resolved detection of the pressing and multi-dimensional deformation of elastomers. Specifically, the developed intelligent sensing system can effectively recognize the two-dimensional indentation position with a prediction accuracy as large as ~99.17%. The average prediction accuracy of combined strain and twist is ~98.4% using the random forest algorithm. In addition, we demonstrate an integrated intelligent glove for the recognition of hand gestures with a high recognition accuracy of 99.38%. Our work holds promise for applications in soft robots for interactive tasks in complex environments, providing robots with multidimensional proprioceptive perception. Wearable sensors could be beneficial for the continuous quantification of upper limb motor symptoms in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). This work evaluates the use of two inertial measurement units combined with supervised machine learning models to classify and predict a subset of MDS-UPDRS III subitems in PD. We attached the two compact wearable sensors on the dorsal part of each hand of 33 people with PD and 12 controls. Each participant performed six clinical movement tasks in parallel with an assessment of the MDS-UPDRS III. Random forest (RF) models were trained on the sensor data and motor scores. An overall accuracy of 94% was achieved in classifying the movement tasks. When employed for classifying the motor scores, the averaged area under the receiver operating characteristic values ranged from 68% to 92%. Motor scores were additionally predicted using an RF regression model. In a comparative analysis, trained support vector machine models outperformed the RF models for specific tasks. Furthermore, our results surpass the literature in certain cases. The methods developed in this work serve as a base for future studies, where home-based assessments of pharmacological effects on motor function could complement regular clinical assessments. The availability of a sufficient number of annotated samples is one of the main challenges of the supervised methods used to classify crop types from remote sensing images. Creating these samples is time-consuming and costly. Active Learning (AL) offers a solution by streamlining sample annotation, resulting in more efficient training with less effort. Unfortunately, most of the developed AL methods overlook spatial information inherent in remote sensing images. We propose a novel spatially explicit AL that uses the semi-variogram to identify and discard redundant, spatially adjacent samples. It was evaluated using Random Forest (RF) and Sentinel-2 Satellite Image Time Series in two study areas from the Netherlands and Belgium. In the Netherlands, the spatially explicit AL selected 97 samples achieving an overall accuracy of 80%, compared to traditional AL selecting 169 samples with 82% overall accuracy. In Belgium, spatially explicit AL selected 223 samples and obtained 60% overall accuracy, while traditional AL selected 327 samples and obtained an overall accuracy of 63%. We concluded that the developed AL method helped RF achieve a good performance mostly for the classes consisting of individual crops with a relatively distinctive growth pattern such as sugar beets or cereals. The escalating reliance of modern society on information and communication technology has rendered it vulnerable to an array of cyber-attacks, with distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks emerging as one of the most prevalent threats. This paper delves into the intricacies of DDoS attacks, which exploit compromised machines numbering in the thousands to disrupt data services and online commercial platforms, resulting in significant downtime and financial losses. Recognizing the gravity of this issue, various detection techniques have been explored, yet the quantity and prior detection of DDoS attacks has seen a decline in recent methods. This research introduces an innovative approach by integrating evolutionary optimization algorithms and machine learning techniques. Specifically, the study proposes XGB-GA Optimization, RF-GA Optimization, and SVM-GA Optimization methods, employing Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) Optimization with Tree-based Pipelines Optimization Tool (TPOT)-Genetic Programming. Datasets pertaining to DDoS attacks were utilized to train machine learning models based on XGB, RF, and SVM algorithms, and 10-fold cross-validation was employed. The models were further optimized using EAs, achieving remarkable accuracy scores: 99.99% with the XGB-GA method, 99.50% with RF-GA, and 99.99% with SVM-GA. Furthermore, the study employed TPOT to identify the optimal algorithm for constructing a machine learning model, with the genetic algorithm pinpointing XGB-GA as the most effective choice. Detecting road cracks is essential for inspecting and assessing the integrity of concrete pavement structures. Traditional image-based methods often require complex preprocessing to extract crack features, making them challenging when dealing with noisy concrete surfaces in diverse real-world scenarios, such as autonomous vehicle road detection. This study introduces an image-based crack detection approach that combines a Random Forest machine learning classifier with a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to address these challenges. Three state-of-the-art models, namely MobileNet, InceptionV3, and Xception, were employed and trained using a dataset of 30,000 images to build an effective CNN. A systematic comparison of validation accuracy across various base learning rates identified a base learning rate of 0.001 as optimal, achieving a maximum validation accuracy of 99.97%. This optimal learning rate was then applied in the subsequent testing phase. The robustness and flexibility of the trained models were evaluated using 6,000 test photos, each with a resolution of 224 × 224 pixels, which were not part of the training or validation sets. A near-global framework for automated training data generation and land cover classification using shallow machine learning with low-density time series imagery does not exist. This study presents a methodology to map nine-class, six-class, and five-class land cover using two dates (winter and non-winter) of a Sentinel-2 granule across seven international sites. The approach uses a series of spectral, textural, and distance decision functions combined with modified ancillary layers (such as global impervious surface and global tree cover) to create binary masks from which to generate a balanced set of training data applied to a random forest classifier. For the land cover masks, stepwise threshold adjustments were applied to reflectance, spectral index values, and Euclidean distance layers, with 62 combinations evaluated. Global (all seven scenes) and regional (arid, tropics, and temperate) adaptive thresholds were computed. An annual 95th and 5th percentile NDVI composite was used to provide temporal corrections to the decision functions, and these corrections were compared against the original model. The accuracy assessment found that the regional adaptive thresholds for both the two-date land cover and the temporally corrected land cover could accurately map land cover type within nine-class (68.4% vs. 73.1%), six-class (79.8% vs. 82.8%), and five-class (80.1% vs. 85.1%) schemes. Lastly, the five-class and six-class models were compared with a manually labeled deep learning model (Esri), where they performed with similar accuracies (five classes: Esri 80.0 ± 3.4%, region corrected 85.1 ± 2.9%). The results highlight not only performance in line with an intensive deep learning approach, but also that reasonably accurate models can be created without a full annual time series of imagery. With the advancement of engineering techniques, underground shield tunneling projects have also started incorporating emerging technologies to monitor the forces and displacements during the construction and operation phases of shield tunnels. Monitoring devices installed on the tunnel segment components generate a large amount of data. However, due to various factors, data may be missing. Hence, the completion of the incomplete data is imperative to ensure the utmost safety of the engineering project. In this research, a missing data imputation technique utilizing Random Forest (RF) is introduced. The optimal combination of the number of decision trees, maximum depth, and number of features in the RF is determined by minimizing the Mean Squared Error (MSE). Subsequently, complete soil pressure data are artificially manipulated to create incomplete datasets with missing rates of 20%, 40%, and 60%. A comparative analysis of the imputation results using three methods—median, mean, and RF—reveals that this proposed method has the smallest imputation error. As the missing rate increases, the mean squared error of the Random Forest method and the other two methods also increases, with a maximum difference of about 70%. Accurate extraction of crop acreage is an important element of digital agriculture. This study uses Sentinel-2A, Sentinel-1, and DEM as data sources to construct a multidimensional feature dataset encompassing spectral features, vegetation index, texture features, terrain features, and radar features. The Relief-F algorithm is applied for feature selection to identify the optimal feature dataset. And the combination of deep learning and the random forest (RF) classification method is utilized to identify lilies in Qilihe District and Yuzhong County of Lanzhou City, obtain their planting structure, and analyze their spatial distribution characteristics in Gansu Province. The findings indicate that terrain features significantly contribute to ground object classification, with the highest classification accuracy when the number of features in the feature dataset is 36. The precision of the deep learning classification method exceeds that of RF, with an overall classification accuracy and kappa coefficient of 95.9% and 0.934, respectively. The Lanzhou lily planting area is 137.24 km2, and it primarily presents a concentrated and contiguous distribution feature. The study's findings can serve as a solid scientific foundation for Lanzhou City's lily planting structure adjustment and optimization and a basis of data for local lily yield forecasting, development, and application. Understanding the association between subjective emotional experiences and physiological signals is of practical and theoretical significance. Previous psychophysiological studies have shown a linear relationship between dynamic emotional valence experiences and facial electromyography (EMG) activities. However, whether and how subjective emotional valence dynamics relate to facial EMG changes nonlinearly remains unknown. To investigate this issue, we re-analyzed the data of two previous studies that measured dynamic valence ratings and facial EMG of the corrugator supercilii and zygomatic major muscles from 50 participants who viewed emotional film clips. We employed multilinear regression analyses and two nonlinear machine learning (ML) models: random forest and long short-term memory. In cross-validation, these ML models outperformed linear regression in terms of the mean squared error and correlation coefficient. Interpretation of the random forest model using the SHapley Additive exPlanation tool revealed nonlinear and interactive associations between several EMG features and subjective valence dynamics. These findings suggest that nonlinear ML models can better fit the relationship between subjective emotional valence dynamics and facial EMG than conventional linear models and highlight a nonlinear and complex relationship. This study investigated the impact of auditory stimuli on muscular activation patterns using wearable surface electromyography (EMG) sensors. Employing four key muscles (Sternocleidomastoid Muscle (SCM), Cervical Erector Muscle (CEM), Quadricep Muscles (QMs), and Tibialis Muscle (TM)) and time domain features, we differentiated the effects of four interventions: silence, music, positive reinforcement, and negative reinforcement. The results demonstrated distinct muscle responses to the interventions, with the SCM and CEM being the most sensitive to changes and the TM being the most active and stimulus dependent. Post hoc analyses revealed significant intervention-specific activations in the CEM and TM for specific time points and intervention pairs, suggesting dynamic modulation and time-dependent integration. Multi-feature analysis identified both statistical and Hjorth features as potent discriminators, reflecting diverse adaptations in muscle recruitment, activation intensity, control, and signal dynamics. These features hold promise as potential biomarkers for monitoring muscle function in various clinical and research applications. Finally, muscle-specific Random Forest classification achieved the highest accuracy and Area Under the ROC Curve for the TM, indicating its potential for differentiating interventions with high precision. This study paves the way for personalized neuroadaptive interventions in rehabilitation, sports science, ergonomics, and healthcare by exploiting the diverse and dynamic landscape of muscle responses to auditory stimuli. During the growing season, olives progress through nine different phenological stages, starting with bud development and ending with senescence. During their lifespan, olives undergo changes in their external color and chemical properties. To tackle these properties, we used hyperspectral imaging during the growing season of the olives. The objective of this study was to develop a lightweight model capable of identifying olives in the hyperspectral images using their spectral information. To achieve this goal, we utilized the hyperspectral imaging of olives while they were still on the tree and conducted this process throughout the entire growing season directly in the field without artificial light sources. The images were taken on-site every week from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. UTC to avoid light saturation and glitters. The data were analyzed using training and testing classifiers, including Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine on labeled datasets. The Logistic Regression model showed the best balance between classification success rate, size, and inference time, achieving a 98% F1-score with less than 1 KB in parameters. A reduction in size was achieved by analyzing the wavelengths that were critical in the decision making, reducing the dimensionality of the hypercube. So, with this novel model, olives in a hyperspectral image can be identified during the season, providing data to enhance a farmer's decision-making process through further automatic applications. This study investigates the application of hyperspectral image space–spectral fusion technology in lithologic classification, using data from China's GF-5 and Europe's Sentinel-2A. The research focuses on the southern region of Tuanjie Peak in the Western Kunlun Range, comparing five space–spectral fusion methods: GSA, SFIM, CNMF, HySure, and NonRegSRNet. To comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of these fusion methods, the study conducts a comprehensive assessment from three aspects: evaluation of fusion effects, lithologic classification experiments, and field validation. In the evaluation of fusion effects, the study uses an index analysis and comparison of spectral curves before and after fusion, concluding that the GSA fusion method performs the best. For lithologic classification, the Random Forest (RF) classification method is used, training with both area and point samples. The classification results from area sample training show significantly higher overall accuracy compared to point samples, aligning well with 1:50,000 scale geological maps. In field validation, the study employs on-site verification combined with microscopic identification and comparison of images with actual spectral fusion, finding that the classification results for the five lithologies are essentially consistent with field validation results. The "GSA+RF" method combination established in this paper, based on data from GF-5 and Sentinel-2A satellites, can provide technical support for lithological classification in similar high-altitude regions.
