In 5G/B5G communication systems, network slicing is utilized to tackle the problem of the allocation of network resources for diverse services with changing demands. We proposed an algorithm that prioritizes the characteristic requirements of two different services and tackles the problem of allocation and scheduling of resources in the hybrid services system with eMBB and URLLC. Firstly, the resource allocation and scheduling are modeled, subject to the rate and delay constraints of both services. Secondly, the purpose of adopting a dueling deep Q network (Dueling DQN) is to approach the formulated non-convex optimization problem innovatively, in which a resource scheduling mechanism and the ϵ -greedy strategy were utilized to select the optimal resource allocation action. Moreover, the reward-clipping mechanism is introduced to enhance the training stability of Dueling DQN. Meanwhile, we choose a suitable bandwidth allocation resolution to increase flexibility in resource allocation. Finally, the simulations indicate that the proposed Dueling DQN algorithm has excellent performance in terms of quality of experience (QoE), spectrum efficiency (SE) and network utility, and the scheduling mechanism makes the performance much more stable. With the rapid development of the 5G power Internet of Things (IoT), new power systems have higher requirements for data transmission rates, latency, reliability, and energy efficiency. Specifically, the hybrid service of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) has brought new challenges to the differentiated service of the 5G power IoT. To solve the above problems, this paper first constructs a power IoT model based on NOMA for the mixed service of URLLC and eMBB. Considering the shortage of resource utilization in eMBB and URLLC hybrid power service scenarios, the problem of maximizing system throughput through joint channel selection and power allocation is proposed. The channel selection algorithm based on matching as well as the power allocation algorithm based on water injection are developed to tackle the problem. Multiservice cellular in Radio Access Network (RAN) Slicing has recently attained huge interest in enhancing isolation and flexibility. However, RAN slicing in heterogeneous networks (HetNet) architecture is not adequately explored. This study proposes a pairing-network slicing (NS) approach for Multiservice RAN that cares about quality of service (QoS), baseband resources, capacities of wireless fronthaul and backhaul links, and isolation. This intriguing approach helps address the increased need for mobile network traffic produced by a range of devices with various QoS requirements, including improved dependability, ultra-reliability low-latency communications (uRLLC), and enhanced broadband Mobile Services (eMBB). Our study displays a unique RAN slicing framework for user equipment (UE) for joint user-association. Multicell non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-based resource allocation across 5G HetNet under successive interference cancelation (SIC) is seen to achieve the best performance. Joint user-slice pairing and association are optimization problems to maximize eMBB UE data rates while fulfilling uRLLC latency and reliability criteria. This is accomplished by guaranteeing the inter- and intra-isolation property of slicing to eliminate interferences between eMBB and uRLLC slices. We presented the UE-slice association (U-S. A) algorithm as a one-to-many matching game to create a stable connection between UE and one of the base stations (BSs). Next, we use the UE-slice pairing (U-S. P) algorithm to find stable uRLLC-eMBB pairs that coexist on the same spectrum. Numerical findings and performance analyses of the submitted association and pairing technique show they can all be RAN slicing criteria. The 3GPP standardized the physical layer specification in 5G New Radio to support enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) coexistence in usage scenarios including aerial vehicles (AVs). Dynamic multiplexing of URLLC traffic was standardized to increase the outage capacity. DM allocates a fully overlapped bandwidth part (BWP) of eMBB and URLLC AVs to perform the immediate scheduling of URLLC traffic by puncturing ongoing eMBB traffic. However, DM often suffers from a significant frame error incurred by puncturing. Meanwhile, BWP can be sliced orthogonally for eMBB and URLLC AVs, possibly preventing overdimensioning the resources depending on the eMBB and URLLC traffic loads. In this paper, we propose a dynamic BWP allocation scheme that switches between two multiplexing methods, dynamic multiplexing (DM) and orthogonal slicing (OS), so as to minimize an impact of uRLLC traffic on eMBB traffic. To implement efficient BWP allocation, the capacity region is analyzed by considering the effect of physical layer parameters, such as modulation and coding scheme (MCS) levels and code block group size on DM and OS. OS is effective for improving the eMBB throughput under a URLLC latency constraint for deterministic and predictable URLLC traffic, whereas DM has limited error-correcting capability against the URLLC's puncturing effect. The relative MCS level of eMBB and URLLC is critical in determining the eMBB traffic tolerance against puncturing. Identifying the performance tradeoff between DM and OS, the tolerance level is quantified by a URLLC load threshold. This paper presents an innovative approach towards space–ground integrated communication systems by combining terrestrial cellular networks, UAV networks, and satellite networks, leveraging advanced slicing technology. The proposed architecture addresses the challenges posed by future user surges and aims to reduce network overhead effectively. Central to our approach is the introduction of a marginal mobile station (MS)-assisted network resource allocation decision architecture. Building upon this foundation, we introduce the DP-DQN model, an enhanced decision-making algorithm tailored for MSs in dynamic network environments. Furthermore, this study introduces a feedback mechanism to ensure the accuracy and adaptability of the marginalization model over time. The introduction of fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks leads to an increase in energy consumption and higher operational costs for mobile network operators (MNOs). Consequently, the optimization of 5G networks' energy efficiency is crucial, both in terms of reducing MNO costs and in terms of the negative environmental impact. However, many aspects of the 5G mobile network technology itself have been standardized, including the 5G network slicing concept. This enables the creation of multiple independent logical 5G networks within the same physical infrastructure. Since the only necessary resources in 5G networks need to be used for the realization of a specific 5G network slice, the question of whether the implementation of 5G network slicing can contribute to the improvement of 5G and future sixth-generation networks' energy efficiency arises. To tackle this question, this review paper analyzes 5G network slicing and the energy demand of different network slicing use cases and mobile virtual network operator realizations based on network slicing. The paper also overviews standardized key performance indicators for the assessment of 5G network slices' energy efficiency and discusses energy efficiency in 5G network slicing lifecycle management. In particular, to show how efficient network slicing can optimize the energy consumption of 5G networks, versatile 5G network slicing use case scenarios, approaches, and resource allocation concepts in the space, time, and frequency domains have been discussed, including artificial intelligence-based implementations of network slicing. The results of the comprehensive discussion indicate that the different implementations and approaches to network slicing pave the way for possible further reductions in 5G MNO energy costs and carbon dioxide emissions in the future. Modern homes are experiencing unprecedented levels of convenience because of the proliferation of smart devices. In order to improve communication between smart home devices, this paper presents a novel approach that particularly addresses interference caused by different transmission systems. The core of the suggested framework is an intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) system designed to reduce interference. By using adaptive communication protocols and sophisticated interference management algorithms, the framework minimizes interference caused by overlapping transmissions and guarantees effective data sharing. This can be accomplished by creating an optimization model that takes into account the dynamic nature of the smart home environment and intelligently allocates resources. By maximizing the signal quality at the destination and optimizing the distribution of frequency channels and transmission power levels, the model seeks to minimize interference. A deep learning technique is used to augment the optimization model by adaptively learning and predicting interference patterns from real-time observations and historical data. The experimental results show how effective the suggested hybrid strategy is. While the deep learning model adjusts to shifting interference dynamics, the optimization model efficiently controls resource allocation, leading to better data reception performance at the destination. Many emerging applications, such as factory automation, electric power distribution, and intelligent transportation systems, require multicast Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (mURLLC). Since 3GPP Release 17, 5G systems natively support multicast functionality, including multicast Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request and various feedback schemes. Although these features can be promising for mURLLC, the specifications and existing studies fall short in offering guidance on their efficient usage. This paper presents the first comprehensive system-level evaluation of mURLLC, leveraging insights from 3GPP specifications. It points out (i) how mURLLC differs from traditional multicast broadband wireless communications, and (ii) which approaches to provide mURLLC require changing the paradigm compared with the existing solutions. Finally, the paper provides recommendations on how to satisfy strict mURLLC requirements efficiently, i.e., with low channel resource consumption, which increases the capacity of 5G systems for mURLLC. Simulation results show that proper configuration of multicast mechanisms and the corresponding algorithms for mURLLC traffic can reduce resource consumption up to three times compared to the baseline solutions proposed for broadband multicast traffic, which significantly increases the system capacity. Fifth Generation (5G) mobile networks introduce the concept of slicing to ensure isolation among the various supported heterogeneous services. The User Equipment (UE) can be connected to multiple slices simultaneously. Additionally, the notion of a Bandwidth Part (BWP) was also instigated to reduce power consumption. A BWP is a small chunk of the bandwidth scanned by the UE to retrieve its service data. Therefore, a UE connected to multiple services can be configured with multiple BWPs each associated with a given service. Such UEs find themselves scanning multiple BWPs, which can be time consuming and highly energy intensive. Hence, it is paramount to study the appropriate choice of the BWP configuration from an energy-efficiency perspective for multi-slice users depending on their battery level. In this paper, two energy-efficient BWP selection solutions are proposed for users connected to multiple slices. The first solution is based on a centralized approach where UEs are stirred optimally to the best BWP configuration, while the second solution relies on a user-centric distributed approach using non-cooperative game theory. The proposed schemes take into account the users' battery level and their sojourn time in the network as well as the scanned BWP size. Both solutions are compared with one another and against the legacy solution. Network slicing shows promise as a means to endow 5G networks with flexible and dynamic features. Network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) are the key methods for deploying network slicing, which will enable end-to-end (E2E) isolation services permitting each slice to be customized depending on service requirements. The goal of this investigation is to construct network slices through a machine learning algorithm and allocate resources for the newly created slices using dynamic programming in an efficient manner. A substrate network is constructed with a list of key performance indicators (KPIs) like CPU capacity, bandwidth, delay, link capacity, and security level. After that, network slices are produced by employing multi-layer perceptron (MLP) using the adaptive moment estimation (ADAM) optimization algorithm. For each requested service, the network slices are categorized as massive machine-type communications (mMTC), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (uRLLC). After network slicing, resources are provided to the services that have been requested. In order to maximize the total user access rate and resource efficiency, Dijkstra's algorithm is adopted for resource allocation that determines the shortest path between nodes in the substrate network. The evolution of network technologies has witnessed a paradigm shift toward open and intelligent networks, with the Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) architecture emerging as a promising solution. The fifth generation achieved tremendous success, which brings high hopes for the next generation, as evidenced by the sixth generation (6G) key performance indicators, which include ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC), extremely high data rate, high energy and spectral efficiency, ultra-dense connectivity, integrated sensing and communication, and secure communication. The fifth generation (5G) marks an important advance in mobile network capabilities. When it comes to high data rates, capacity, spectrum efficiency, and availability, 5G mobile broadband goes above and beyond what was previously possible with standard mobile broadband. The construction of 5G networks is still in the planning stages. These 5G networks will create intelligent networked communication environments by connecting people, things, data, applications, and transport networks. Mobile networks have made it possible for customers' mobile devices (such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and so on) to connect to the internet. A variety of distinct protocols will be required to take into consideration the various aspects that 5G possess. One of these is the transport protocol, which is intended to deliver extremely high data transfer rates up to 400 Gbps. There are multiple types of services in the Internet of Things, and existing access control methods do not consider situations wherein the same types of services have multiple access options. In order to ensure the QoS quality of user access and realize the reasonable utilization of Internet of Things network resources, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of different services to design applicable access control strategies. In this paper, a preference-aware user access control strategy in slices is proposed, which can increase the number of users in the system while balancing slice resource utilization. First, we establish the user QoS model and slice QoS index range according to the delay, rate and reliability requirements, and we select users with multiple access options. Secondly, a user preference matrix is established according to the user QoS requirements and the slice QoS index range. Finally, a preference matrix of the slice is built according to the optimization objective, and access control decisions are made for users through the resource utilization state of the slice and the preference matrix. The 5G network is designed to serve three main use cases: enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (uRLLC). There are many new technological enablers, including the cloud radio access network (C-RAN) and network slicing, that can support 5G and meet its requirements. The C-RAN combines both network virtualization and based band unit (BBU) centralization. Using the network slicing concept, the C-RAN BBU pool can be virtually sliced into three different slices. 5G slices require a number of Quality of service (QoS) metrics, such as average response time and resource utilization. In order to enhance the C-RAN BBUs utilization while protecting the minimum QoS of the coexisting three slices, a priority-based resource allocation with queuing model is proposed. The uRLLC is given the highest priority, while eMBB has a higher priority than mMTC services. The proposed model allows the eMBB and mMTC to be queued and the interrupted mMTC to be restored in its queue to increase its chance to reattempt the service later. The proposed model's performance measures are defined and derived using a continuous-time Markov chain (CTMC) model and evaluated and compared using different methodologies. Based on the results, the proposed scheme can increase C-RAN resource utilization without degrading the QoS of the highest-priority uRLLC slice. Additionally, it can reduce the forced termination priority of the interrupted mMTC slice by allowing it to re-join its queue. Therefore, the comparison of the results shows that the proposed scheme outperforms the other states of the art in terms of improving the C-RAN utilization and enhancing the QoS of eMBB and mMTC slices without degrading the QoS of the highest priority use case. Terahertz (THz) is a promising technology for future wireless communication networks, particularly for 6G and beyond. The ultra-wide THz band, ranging from 0.1 to 10 THz, can potentially address the limited capacity and scarcity of spectrum in current wireless systems such as 4G-LTE and 5G. Furthermore, it is expected to support advanced wireless applications requiring high data transmission and quality services, i.e., terabit-per-second backhaul systems, ultra-high-definition streaming, virtual/augmented reality, and high-bandwidth wireless communications. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been used mainly for resource management, spectrum allocation, modulation and bandwidth classification, interference mitigation, beamforming, and medium access control layer protocols to improve THz performance. This survey paper examines the use of AI in state-of-the-art THz communications, discussing the challenges, potentials, and shortcomings. Additionally, this survey discusses the available platforms, including commercial, testbeds, and publicly available simulators for THz communications. Finally, this survey provides future strategies for improving the existing THz simulators and using AI methods, including deep learning, federated learning, and reinforcement learning, to improve THz communications. Virtualization is a core 5G network technology which helps telecom companies significantly reduce capital expenditure and operating expenses by deploying multiple services on the same hardware infrastructure. However, providing QoS-guaranteed services for multi-tenants poses a significant challenge due to multi-tenant service diversity. Network slicing has been proposed as a means of addressing this problem by isolating computing and communication resources for the different tenants of different services. However, optimizing the allocation of the network and computation resources across multiple network slices is a critical but extremely difficult problem. Accordingly, this study proposes two heuristic algorithms, namely Minimum Cost Resource Allocation (MCRA) and Fast Latency Decrease Resource Allocation (FLDRA), to perform dynamic path routing and resource allocation for multi-tenant network slices in a two-tier architecture. The simulation results show that both algorithms significantly outperform the Upper-tier First with Latency-bounded Overprovisioning Prevention (UFLOP) algorithm proposed in previous work. The network slicing of physical infrastructure is required for fifth-generation mobile networks to make significant changes in how service providers deliver and defend services in the face of evolving end-user performance requirements. To perform this, a fast and secure slicing technique is employed for node allocation and connection establishment, which necessitates the usage of a large number of domain applications across the network. PROMETHEE-II and SLE algorithms were used in this study's approach to network design for node allocation and link construction, respectively. The PROMETHEE-II approach takes into account a variety of node characteristics while constructing a node importance rank array (NIRA), including the node capacity, bandwidth of neighboring connections, degree of the node, and proximity centrality among others. The SLE method is proposed to record all possible link configurations for the network slice request (NSR) nodes to guarantee that the shortest path array (SPA) of the NSR has a high acceptance rate. Performance metrics such as the service revenue and acceptance ratio were considered to evaluate the effectiveness of the suggested approach. The effectiveness of network slicing has been further examined under different infrastructure models to determine whether a small-world network structure is beneficial to 5G network. In this paper, we investigate dynamic resource selection in dense deployments of the recent 6G mobile in-X subnetworks (inXSs). We cast resource selection in inXSs as a multi-objective optimization problem involving maximization of the minimum capacity per inXS while minimizing overhead from intra-subnetwork signaling. Since inXSs are expected to be autonomous, selection decisions are made by each inXS based on its local information without signaling from other inXSs. A multi-agent Q-learning (MAQL) method based on limited sensing information (SI) is then developed, resulting in low intra-subnetwork SI signaling. We further propose a rule-based algorithm termed Q-Heuristics for performing resource selection based on similar limited information as the MAQL method. We perform simulations with a focus on joint channel and transmit power selection. The results indicate that: (1) appropriate settings of Q-learning parameters lead to fast convergence of the MAQL method even with two-level quantization of the SI, and (2) the proposed MAQL approach has significantly better performance and is more robust to sensing and switching delays than the best baseline heuristic. The proposed Q-Heuristic shows similar performance to the baseline greedy method at the 50th percentile of the per-user capacity and slightly better at lower percentiles. Network slicing (NS) is an emerging technology in recent years, which enables network operators to slice network resources (e.g., bandwidth, power, spectrum, etc.) in different types of slices, so that it can adapt to different application scenarios of 5 g network: enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communications (mMTC) and ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC). In order to allocate these sliced network resources more effectively to users with different needs, it is important that manage the allocation of network resources. Actually, in the practical network resource allocation problem, the resources of the base station (BS) are limited and the demand of each user for mobile services is different. To better deal with the resource allocation problem, more effective methods and algorithms have emerged in recent years, such as the bidding method, deep learning (DL) algorithm, ant colony algorithm (AG), and wolf colony algorithm (WPA). This paper proposes a two tier slicing resource allocation algorithm based on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) and joint bidding in wireless access networks. The wireless virtual technology divides mobile operators into infrastructure providers (InPs) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs). This paper considers a single base station, multi-user shared aggregated bandwidth radio access network scenario and joins the MVNOs to fully utilize base station resources, and divides the resource allocation process into two tiers. The algorithm proposed in this paper takes into account both the utilization of base station (BS) resources and the service demand of mobile users (MUs). In the upper tier, each MVNO is treated as an agent and uses a combination of bidding and Deep Q network (DQN) allows the MVNO to get more resources from the base station. In the lower tier allocation process, each MVNO distributes the received resources to the users who are connected to it, which also uses the Dueling DQN method for iterative learning to find the optimal solution to the problem. The results show that in the upper tier, the total system utility function and revenue obtained by the proposed algorithm are about 5.4% higher than double DQN and about 2.6% higher than Dueling DQN; In the lower tier, the user service quality obtained by using the proposed algorithm is more stable, the system utility function and Se are about 0.5–2.7% higher than DQN and Double DQN, but the convergence is faster. In recent years, the IoT has emerged as the most promising technology in the key evolution of industry 4.0/industry 5.0, smart home automation (SHA), smart cities, energy savings and many other areas of wireless communication. There is a massively growing number of static and mobile IoT devices with a diversified range of speed and bandwidth, along with a growing demand for high data rates, which makes the network denser and more complicated. In this context, the next-generation communication technology, i.e., sixth generation (6G), is trying to build up the base to meet the imperative need of future network deployment. Network Slicing and Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) are vital enablers for achieving 5G and 6G networks. A 5G/6G network can comprise various network slices from unique or multiple tenants. Network providers need to perform intelligent and efficient resource management to offer slices that meet the quality of service and quality of experience requirements of 5G/6G use cases. Resource management is far from being a straightforward task. This task demands complex and dynamic mechanisms to control admission and allocate, schedule, and orchestrate resources. Intelligent and effective resource management needs to predict the services' demand coming from tenants (each tenant with multiple network slice requests) and achieve autonomous behavior of slices. This paper identifies the relevant phases for resource management in network slicing and analyzes approaches using reinforcement learning (RL) and DRL algorithms for realizing each phase autonomously. We analyze the approaches according to the optimization objective, the network focus (core, radio access, edge, and end-to-end network), the space of states, the space of actions, the algorithms, the structure of deep neural networks, the exploration–exploitation method, and the use cases (or vertical applications). The management of 5G resources is a demanding task, requiring proper planning of operating numerology indexes and spectrum allocation according to current traffic needs. In addition, any reconfigurations to adapt to the current traffic pattern should be minimized to reduce signaling overhead. In this article, the pre-planning of numerology profiles is proposed to address this problem, and a mathematical optimization model for their planning is developed. The idea is to explore requirements and impairments usually present in a given wireless communication scenario to build numerology profiles and then adopt one of the profiles according to the current users/traffic pattern. The model allows the optimization of mixed numerologies in future 5G systems under any wireless communication scenario, with specific service requirements and impairments, and under any traffic scenario. Results show that, depending on the granularity of the profiles, the proposed optimization model is able to provide satisfaction levels of 60–100%, whereas a non-optimized approach provides 40–65%, while minimizing the total number of numerology indexes in operation. After implementing 5G technology, academia and industry started researching 6th generation wireless network technology (6G). 6G is expected to be implemented around the year 2030. It will offer a significant experience for everyone by enabling hyper-connectivity between people and everything. In addition, it is expected to extend mobile communication possibilities where earlier generations could not have developed. Several potential technologies are predicted to serve as the foundation of 6G networks. These include upcoming and current technologies such as post-quantum cryptography, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), enhanced edge computing, molecular communication, THz, visible light communication (VLC), and distributed ledger (DL) technologies such as blockchain. From a security and privacy perspective, these developments need a reconsideration of prior security traditional methods. New novel authentication, encryption, access control, communication, and malicious activity detection must satisfy the higher significant requirements of future networks. In addition, new security approaches are necessary to ensure trustworthiness and privacy. This paper provides insights into the critical problems and difficulties related to the security, privacy, and trust issues of 6G networks. Moreover, the standard technologies and security challenges per each technology are clarified. This paper introduces the 6G security architecture and improvements over the 5G architecture. We also introduce the security issues and challenges of the 6G physical layer. In addition, the AI/ML layers and the proposed security solution in each layer are studied. The paper summarizes the security evolution in legacy mobile networks and concludes with their security problems and the most essential 6G application services and their security requirements. The ongoing transition towards 5G technology expedites the emergence of a variety of mobile applications that pertain to different vertical industries. Delivering on the key commitment of 5G, these diverse service streams, along with their distinct requirements, should be facilitated under the same unified network infrastructure. Consequently, in order to unleash the benefits brought by 5G technology, a holistic approach towards the requirement analysis and the design, development, and evaluation of multiple concurrent vertical services should be followed. In this paper, we focus on the Transport vertical industry, and we study four novel vehicular service categories, each one consisting of one or more related specific scenarios, within the framework of the "5G Health, Aquaculture and Transport (5G-HEART)" 5G PPP ICT-19 (Phase 3) project. In contrast to the majority of the literature, we provide a holistic overview of the overall life-cycle management required for the realization of the examined vehicular use cases. This comprises the definition and analysis of the network Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) resulting from high-level user requirements and their interpretation in terms of the underlying network infrastructure tasked with meeting their conflicting or converging needs. Our approach is complemented by the experimental investigation of the real unified 5G pilot's characteristics that enable the delivery of the considered vehicular services and the initial trialling results that verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the presented theoretical analysis. Cloud Computing and Cloud Platforms have become an essential resource for businesses, due to their advanced capabilities, performance, and functionalities. Data redundancy, scalability, and security, are among the key features offered by cloud platforms. Location-Based Services (LBS) often exploit cloud platforms to host positioning and localisation systems. This paper introduces a systematic review of current positioning platforms for GNSS-denied scenarios. We have undertaken a comprehensive analysis of each component of the positioning and localisation systems, including techniques, protocols, standards, and cloud services used in the state-of-the-art deployments. Furthermore, this paper identifies the limitations of existing solutions, outlining shortcomings in areas that are rarely subjected to scrutiny in existing reviews of indoor positioning, such as computing paradigms, privacy, and fault tolerance. We then examine contributions in the areas of efficient computation, interoperability, positioning, and localisation. Network slicing is a powerful paradigm for network operators to support use cases with widely diverse requirements atop a common infrastructure. As 5G standards are completed, and commercial solutions mature, operators need to start thinking about how to integrate network slicing capabilities in their assets, so that customer-facing solutions can be made available in their portfolio. This integration is, however, not an easy task, due to the heterogeneity of assets that typically exist in carrier networks. In this regard, 5G commercial networks may consist of a number of domains, each with a different technological pace, and built out of products from multiple vendors, including legacy network devices and functions. These multi-technology, multi-vendor and brownfield features constitute a challenge for the operator, which is required to deploy and operate slices across all these domains in order to satisfy the end-to-end nature of the services hosted by these slices. In this context, the only realistic option for operators is to introduce slicing capabilities progressively, following a phased approach in their roll-out. The purpose of this paper is to precisely help designing this kind of plan, by means of a technology radar. The radar identifies a set of solutions enabling network slicing on the individual domains, and classifies these solutions into four rings, each corresponding to a different timeline: (i) as-is ring, covering today's slicing solutions; (ii) deploy ring, corresponding to solutions available in the short term; (iii) test ring, considering medium-term solutions; and (iv) explore ring, with solutions expected in the long run. This classification is done based on the technical availability of the solutions, together with the foreseen market demands. The value of this radar lies in its ability to provide a complete view of the slicing landscape with one single snapshot, by linking solutions to information that operators may use for decision making in their individual go-to-market strategies. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has a key feature that the cell-center user (CCU) has prior information about the messages of the cell-edge user (CEU) in the same user-pair. It means that CCU can be used for retransmission when the CEU requests retransmission. As ultra-reliability and low-latency communication (URLLC) requires high-reliability constraints (e.g., 99.999%), using CCU for retransmission can be useful to satisfy the reliability constraint. In this study, to ensure the reliability of CEU, cooperative retransmission (CR) scheme for downlink NOMA systems is proposed. And the CR scheme is evaluated with Block error rate (BLER) considering reliability and with packet loss rate (PLR) in terms of reliability and latency constraints. And the evaluation results showed that the proposed CR scheme can satisfy the target BLER for URLLC low SNR compared to the conventional retransmission scheme, and showed the improved PLR compared to the conventional retransmission scheme in low SNRs. Fifth-generation (5G) communication technology is intended to offer higher data rates, outstanding user exposure, lower power consumption, and extremely short latency. Such cellular networks will implement a diverse multi-layer model comprising device-to-device networks, macro-cells, and different categories of small cells to assist customers with desired quality-of-service (QoS). This multi-layer model affects several studies that confront utilizing interference management and resource allocation in 5G networks. With the growing need for cellular service and the limited resources to provide it, capably handling network traffic and operation has become a problem of resource distribution. One of the utmost serious problems is to alleviate the jamming in the network in support of having a better QoS. However, although a limited number of review papers have been written on resource distribution, no review papers have been written specifically on 5G resource allocation. Hence, this article analyzes the issue of resource allocation by classifying the various resource allocation schemes in 5G that have been reported in the literature and assessing their ability to enhance service quality. This survey bases its discussion on the metrics that are used to evaluate network performance. In order to meet the low latency and high throughput requirements of data transmission in 5th generation (5G) New Radio (NR), it is necessary to minimize the low power encoding hardware latency on transmitter and achieve lower base station power consumption within a fixed transmission time interval (TTI). This paper investigates parallel design and implementation of 5G quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check (QC-LDPC) codes encoder. The designed QC-LDPC encoder employs a multi-channel parallel structure to obtain multiple parity check bits and thus reduce encoding latency significantly. The proposed encoder maps high parallelism encoding algorithms to a configurable circuit architecture, achieving flexibility and support for all 5G NR code length and code rate. The experimental results show that under the 800 MHz system frequency, the achieved data throughput ranges from 62 to 257.9 Gbps, and the maximum code length encoding time under base graph 1 (BG1) is only 33.75 ns, which is the critical encoding time of our proposed encoder. Finally, our proposed encoder was synthesized on SMIC 28 nm CMOS technology; the result confirmed the effectiveness and feasibility of our design. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

5G and Beyond 5G mobile networks use several high-frequency spectrum bands such as the millimeter-wave (mmWave) bands to alleviate the problem of bandwidth scarcity. However high-frequency bands do not cover larger distances. The coverage problem is addressed by using a heterogeneous network which comprises numerous small and macrocells, defined by transmission and reception points (TRxPs). For such a network, random access is considered a challenging function in which users attempt to select an efficient TRxP by random access within a given time. Ideally, an efficient TRxP is less congested, minimizing delays in users' random access. However, owing to the nature of random access, it is not feasible to deploy a centralized controller estimating the congestion level of each cell and deliver this information back to users during random access. To solve this problem, we establish an optimization problem and employ a reinforcement-learning-based scheme. The proposed scheme estimates congestion of TRxPs in service and selects the optimal access point. Mathematically, this approach is beneficial in approximating and minimizing a random access delay function. Through simulation, we demonstrate that our proposed deep learning-based algorithm improves performance on random access. Notably, the average access delay is improved by 58.89% from the original 3GPP algorithm, and the probability of successful access also improved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fifth-generation (5G) network is presented as one of the main options for Industry 4.0 connectivity. Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC) is the 5G service category used by critical mechanisms, with a millisecond end-to-end delay and reduced probability of failure. 5G defines new numerologies, together with mini-slots for a faster scheduling. The main challenge of this is to select the appropriate numerology according to radio conditions. This fact is very important in industrial scenarios, where the fundamental problems are interference and multipath propagation, due to the presence of concrete walls and large metallic machinery and structures. Therefore, this paper is focused on analyzing the impact of the numerology selection on the delay experienced at radio link level for a remote-control service. The study, which has been carried out in a simulated cellular factory environment, has been performed for different packet sizes and channel conditions, focusing on outliers. Evaluation results show that not always a higher numerology, with a shorter slot duration, is appropriate for this type of service, particularly under Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) conditions. The 5G wireless communication network is currently faced with the challenge of limited data speed exacerbated by the proliferation of billions of data-intensive applications. To address this problem, researchers are developing cutting-edge technologies for the envisioned 6G wireless communication standards to satisfy the escalating wireless services demands. Though some of the candidate technologies in the 5G standards will apply to 6G wireless networks, key disruptive technologies that will guarantee the desired quality of physical experience to achieve ubiquitous wireless connectivity are expected in 6G. This article first provides a foundational background on the evolution of different wireless communication standards to have a proper insight into the vision and requirements of 6G. Second, we provide a panoramic view of the enabling technologies proposed to facilitate 6G and introduce emerging 6G applications such as multi-sensory–extended reality, digital replica, and more. Next, the technology-driven challenges, social, psychological, health and commercialization issues posed to actualizing 6G, and the probable solutions to tackle these challenges are discussed extensively. Additionally, we present new use cases of the 6G technology in agriculture, education, media and entertainment, logistics and transportation, and tourism. Furthermore, we discuss the multi-faceted communication capabilities of 6G that will contribute significantly to global sustainability and how 6G will bring about a dramatic change in the business arena. The industrial development of the last few decades has prompted an increase in the number of vehicles by multiple folds. With the increased number of vehicles on the road, safety has become one of the primary concerns. Inter vehicular communication, specially Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communication can address these pressing issues including autonomous traffic systems and autonomous driving. The reliability and effectiveness of V2X communication greatly depends on communication architecture and the associated wireless technology. Addressing this challenge, a device-to-device (D2D)-based reliable, robust, and energy-efficient V2X communication architecture is proposed with LoRa wireless technology. The proposed system takes a D2D communication approach to reduce the latency by offering direct vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, rather than routing the data via the LoRa WAN server. Additionally, the proposed architecture offers modularity and compact design, making it ideal for legacy systems without requiring any additional hardware. Testing and analysis suggest the proposed system can communicate reliably with roadside infrastructures and other vehicles at speeds ranging from 15–50 km per hour (kmph). The data packet consists of 12 bytes of metadata and 28 bytes of payload. At 15 kmph, a vehicle sends one data packet every 25.9 m, and at 50 kmph, it sends the same data packet every 53.34 m with reliable transitions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The high heterogeneity of 5G use cases requires the extension of the traditional per-component testing procedures provided by certification organizations, in order to devise and incorporate methodologies that cover the testing requirements from vertical applications and services. In this paper, we introduce an experimentation methodology that is defined in the context of the 5GENESIS project, which aims at enabling both the testing of network components and validation of E2E KPIs. The most important contributions of this methodology are its modularity and flexibility, as well as the open-source software that was developed for its application, which enable lightweight adoption of the methodology in any 5G testbed. We also demonstrate how the methodology can be used, by executing and analyzing different experiments in a 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) deployment at the University of Malaga. The key findings of the paper are an initial 5G performance assessment and KPI analysis and the detection of under-performance issues at the application level. The sixth-generation (6G) network intends to revolutionize the healthcare sector. It will offer smart healthcare (s-health) treatments and allow efficient patient remote monitoring, exposing the high potential of 6G communication technology in telesurgery, epidemic, and pandemic. Healthcare relies on 6G communication technology, diminishing barriers as time and space. S-health applications require strict network requirements, for instance, 99.999% of service reliability and 1 ms of end-to-end latency. However, it is a challenging task to manage network resources and applications towards such performance requirements. Hence, significant attention focuses on performance management as a way of searching for efficient approaches to adjust and tune network resources to application needs, assisting in achieving the required performance levels. In the literature, performance management employs techniques such as resource allocation, resource reservation, traffic shaping, and traffic scheduling. However, they are dedicated to specific problems such as resource allocation for a particular device, ignoring the heterogeneity of network devices, and communication technology. Thus, this article presents PRIMUS, a performance management architecture that aims to meet the requirements of low-latency and high-reliability in an adaptive way for s-health applications. As network slicing is central to realizing the potential of 5G–6G networks, PRIMUS manages traffic through network slicing technologies. Unlike existing proposals, it supports device and service heterogeneity based on the autonomous knowledge of s-health applications.
