The rapid increase in the number of vehicles has led to increasing traffic congestion, traffic accidents, and motor vehicle crime rates. The management of various parking lots has also become increasingly challenging. Vehicle-type recognition technology can reduce the workload of humans in vehicle management operations. Therefore, the application of image technology for vehicle-type recognition is of great significance for integrated traffic management. In this paper, an improved faster region with convolutional neural network features (Faster R-CNN) model was proposed for vehicle-type recognition. Firstly, the output features of different convolution layers were combined to improve the recognition accuracy. Then, the average precision (AP) of the recognition model was improved through the contextual features of the original image and the object bounding box optimization strategy. Finally, the comparison experiment used the vehicle image dataset of three vehicle types, including cars, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), and vans. The experimental results show that the improved recognition model can effectively identify vehicle types in the images. The AP of the three vehicle types is 83.2%, 79.2%, and 78.4%, respectively, and the mean average precision (mAP) is 1.7% higher than that of the traditional Faster R-CNN model. Under the conditions of a mechanical fault in a motor, mechanical vibration of a specific frequency can be generated. The electrical contact points directly connected to the motor can vibrate at the same frequency. The electrical contact points with poor contact can easily produce a series arc fault under vibration conditions, which affects the reliability of the power supply. In order to detect the series arc fault under different vibration conditions, the arc fault generator is connected between the back end of the frequency converter and the motor. An arc fault experiment under different vibration conditions was carried out and the fault phase current and arc voltage signals were collected. In this paper, the noise-assisted multivariate empirical mode decomposition and the correlation coefficient between each intrinsic mode function are used to select the fault feature signals. Then, the reconstructed signal is input into the series arc fault model combining a multi-scale convolutional neural network and a bidirectional long short-term memory network for training. The research results show that the series arc fault detection method proposed in this paper can effectively detect the series arc fault and can preliminarily identify the type of motor fault causing the mechanical vibration of the motor; the model has good noise immunity and generalization. This paper is on the autonomous detection of humans in off-limits mountains. In off-limits mountains, a human rarely exists, thus human detection is an extremely rare event. Due to the advances in artificial intelligence, object detection–classification algorithms based on a Convolution Neural Network (CNN) can be used for this application. However, considering off-limits mountains, there should be no person in general. Thus, it is not desirable to run object detection–classification algorithms continuously, since they are computationally heavy. This paper addresses a time-efficient human detector system, based on both motion detection and object classification. The proposed scheme is to run a motion detection algorithm from time to time. In the camera image, we define a feasible human space where a human can appear. Once motion is detected inside the feasible human space, one enables the object classification, only inside the bounding box where motion is detected. Since motion detection inside the feasible human space runs much faster than an object detection–classification method, the proposed approach is suitable for real-time human detection with low computational loads. As far as we know, no paper in the literature used the feasible human space, as in our paper. The outperformance of our human detector system is verified by comparing it with other state-of-the-art object detection–classification algorithms (HOG detector, YOLOv7 and YOLOv7-tiny) under experiments. This paper demonstrates that the accuracy of the proposed human detector system is comparable to other state-of-the-art algorithms, while outperforming in computational speed. An autonomous place recognition system is essential for scenarios where GPS is useless, such as underground tunnels. However, it is difficult to use existing algorithms to fully utilize the small number of effective features in underground tunnel data, and recognition accuracy is difficult to guarantee. In order to solve this challenge, an efficient point cloud position recognition algorithm, named Dual-Attention Transformer Network (DAT-Net), is proposed in this paper. The algorithm firstly adopts the farthest point downsampling module to eliminate the invalid redundant points in the point cloud data and retain the basic shape of the point cloud, which reduces the size of the point cloud and, at the same time, reduces the influence of the invalid point cloud on the data analysis. After that, this paper proposes the dual-attention Transformer module to facilitate local information exchange by utilizing the multi-head self-attention mechanism. It extracts local descriptors and integrates highly discriminative global descriptors based on global context with the help of a feature fusion layer to obtain a more accurate and robust global feature representation. Experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper achieves an average F 1 score of 0.841 on the SubT-Tunnel dataset and outperforms many existing state-of-the-art algorithms in recognition accuracy and robustness tests. Sugarcane is an important raw material for sugar and chemical production. However, in recent years, various sugarcane diseases have emerged, severely impacting the national economy. To address the issue of identifying diseases in sugarcane leaf sections, this paper proposes the SE-VIT hybrid network. Unlike traditional methods that directly use models for classification, this paper compares threshold, K-means, and support vector machine (SVM) algorithms for extracting leaf lesions from images. Due to SVM's ability to accurately segment these lesions, it is ultimately selected for the task. The paper introduces the SE attention module into ResNet-18 (CNN), enhancing the learning of inter-channel weights. After the pooling layer, multi-head self-attention (MHSA) is incorporated. Finally, with the inclusion of 2D relative positional encoding, the accuracy is improved by 5.1%, precision by 3.23%, and recall by 5.17%. The SE-VIT hybrid network model achieves an accuracy of 97.26% on the PlantVillage dataset. Additionally, when compared to four existing classical neural network models, SE-VIT demonstrates significantly higher accuracy and precision, reaching 89.57% accuracy. Therefore, the method proposed in this paper can provide technical support for intelligent management of sugarcane plantations and offer insights for addressing plant diseases with limited datasets. Machine learning (ML) has a well-established reputation for successfully enabling automation through its scalable predictive power. Industry 4.0 encapsulates a new stage of industrial processes and value chains driven by smart connection and automation. Large-scale problems within these industrial settings are a prime example of an environment that can benefit from ML. However, a clear view of how ML currently intersects with industry 4.0 is difficult to grasp without reading an infeasible number of papers. This systematic review strives to provide such a view by gathering a collection of 45,783 relevant papers from Scopus and Web of Science and analysing it with BERTopic. We analyse the key topics to understand what industry applications receive the most attention and which ML methods are used the most. Moreover, we manually reviewed 17 white papers of consulting firms to compare the academic landscape to an industry perspective. We found that security and predictive maintenance were the most common topics, CNNs were the most used ML method and industry companies, at the moment, generally focus more on enabling successful adoption rather than building better ML models. This paper discusses optimizing desktop image quality and bandwidth consumption in remote IoT GUI desktop scenarios. Remote desktop tools, which are crucial for work efficiency, typically employ image compression techniques to manage bandwidth. Although JPEG is widely used for its efficiency in eliminating redundancy, it can introduce quality loss with increased compression. Recently, deep learning-based compression techniques have emerged, challenging traditional methods like JPEG. This study introduces an optimized RFB (Remote Frame Buffer) protocol based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) image compression algorithm, focusing on human visual perception in desktop image processing. The improved RFB protocol proposed in this paper, compared to the unoptimized RFB protocol, can save 30–80% of bandwidth consumption and enhances remote desktop image quality, as evidenced by improved PSNR and MS-SSIM values between the remote desktop image and the original image, thus providing superior desktop image transmission quality. Estimation of vivo muscle forces during human motion is important for understanding human motion control mechanisms and joint mechanics. This paper combined the advantages of the convolutional neural network (CNN) and long-short-term memory (LSTM) and proposed a novel muscle force estimation method based on CNN–LSTM. A wearable sensor system was also developed to collect the angles and angular velocities of the hip, knee, and ankle joints in the sagittal plane during walking, and the collected kinematic data were used as the input for the neural network model. In this paper, the muscle forces calculated using OpenSim based on the Static Optimization (SO) method were used as the standard value to train the neural network model. Four lower limb muscles of the left leg, including gluteus maximus (GM), rectus femoris (RF), gastrocnemius (GAST), and soleus (SOL), were selected as the studying objects in this paper. The experiment results showed that compared to the standard CNN and the standard LSTM, the CNN–LSTM performed better in muscle forces estimation under slow (1.2 m/s), medium (1.5 m/s), and fast walking speeds (1.8 m/s). The average correlation coefficients between true and estimated values of four muscle forces under slow, medium, and fast walking speeds were 0.9801, 0.9829, and 0.9809, respectively. The average correlation coefficients had smaller fluctuations under different walking speeds, which indicated that the model had good robustness. The external testing experiment showed that the CNN–LSTM also had good generalization. The model performed well when the estimated object was not included in the training sample. This article proposed a convenient method for estimating muscle forces, which could provide theoretical assistance for the quantitative analysis of human motion and muscle injury. The method has established the relationship between joint kinematic signals and muscle forces during walking based on a neural network model; compared to the SO method to calculate muscle forces in OpenSim, it is more convenient and efficient in clinical analysis or engineering applications. In cases with a large number of sensors and complex spatial distribution, correctly learning the spatial characteristics of the sensors is vital for structural damage identification. Graph convolutional neural networks (GCNs), unlike other methods, have the ability to learn the spatial characteristics of the sensors, which is targeted at the above problems in structural damage identification. However, under the influence of environmental interference, sensor instability, and other factors, part of the vibration signal can easily change its fundamental characteristics, and there is a possibility of misjudging structural damage. Therefore, on the basis of building a high-performance graphical convolutional deep learning model, this paper considers the integration of data fusion technology in the model decision-making layer and proposes a single-model decision-making fusion neural network (S_DFNN) model. Through experiments involving the frame model and the self-designed cable-stayed bridge model, it is concluded that this method has a better performance of damage recognition for different structures, and the accuracy is improved based on a single model and has good damage recognition performance. With the wide application of direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signals, the comprehensive performance of DSSS communication systems has been continuously improved, making the electronic reconnaissance link in communication countermeasures more difficult. Electronic reconnaissance technology, as the fundamental means of modern electronic warfare, mainly includes signal detection, recognition, and parameter estimation. At present, research on DSSS detection algorithms is mostly based on the correlation characteristics of DSSS signals, and autocorrelation algorithm is the most mature and widely used method in practical engineering. With the continuous development of deep learning, deep-learning-based methods have gradually been introduced to replace traditional algorithms in the field of signal processing. This paper proposes a spread spectrum signal detection method based on convolutional neural network (CNN). Through experimental analysis, the detection performance of the CNN model proposed in this paper on DSSS signals in various situations has been compared and analyzed with traditional autocorrelation detection methods for different signal-to-noise ratios. The experiments verified the estimation performance of the model in this paper under different signal-to-noise ratios, different spreading code lengths, different spreading code types, and different modulation methods and compared it with the autocorrelation detection algorithm. It was found that the detection performance of the model in this paper was higher than that of the autocorrelation detection method, and the overall performance was improved by 4 dB. The purpose of image dehazing is to remove the interference from weather factors in degraded images and enhance the clarity and color saturation of images to maximize the restoration of useful features. Single image dehazing is one of the most important tasks in the field of image restoration. In recent years, due to the progress of deep learning, single image dehazing has made great progress. With the success of Transformer in advanced computer vision tasks, some research studies also began to apply Transformer to image dehazing tasks and obtained surprising results. However, both the deconvolution-neural-network-based dehazing algorithm and Transformer based dehazing algorithm magnify their advantages and disadvantages separately. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel Transformer–Convolution fusion dehazing network (TCFDN), which uses Transformer's global modeling ability and convolutional neural network's local modeling ability to improve the dehazing ability. In the Transformer–Convolution fusion dehazing network, the classic self-encoder structure is used. This paper proposes a Transformer–Convolution hybrid layer, which uses an adaptive fusion strategy to make full use of the Swin-Transformer and convolutional neural network to extract and reconstruct image features. On the basis of previous research, this layer further improves the ability of the network to remove haze. A series of contrast experiments and ablation experiments not only proved that the Transformer–Convolution fusion dehazing network proposed in this paper exceeded the more advanced dehazing algorithm, but also provided solid and powerful evidence for the basic theory on which it depends. Mobile crowdsensing (MCS) systems rely on the collective contribution of sensor data from numerous mobile devices carried by participants. However, the open and participatory nature of MCS renders these systems vulnerable to adversarial attacks or data poisoning attempts where threat actors can inject malicious data into the system. There is a need for a detection system that mitigates malicious sensor data to maintain the integrity and reliability of the collected information. This paper addresses this issue by proposing an adaptive and robust model for detecting malicious data in MCS scenarios involving sensor data from mobile devices. The proposed model incorporates an adaptive learning mechanism that enables the TCN-based model to continually evolve and adapt to new patterns, enhancing its capability to detect novel malicious data as threats evolve. We also present a comprehensive evaluation of the proposed model's performance using the SherLock datasets, demonstrating its effectiveness in accurately detecting malicious sensor data and mitigating potential threats to the integrity of MCS systems. Comparative analysis with existing models highlights the performance of the proposed TCN-based model in terms of detection accuracy, with an accuracy score of 98%. Accurately and effectively detecting the growth position and contour size of apple fruits is crucial for achieving intelligent picking and yield predictions. Thus, an effective fruit edge detection algorithm is necessary. In this study, a fusion edge detection model (RED) based on a convolutional neural network and rough sets was proposed. The Faster-RCNN was used to segment multiple apple images into a single apple image for edge detection, greatly reducing the surrounding noise of the target. Moreover, the K-means clustering algorithm was used to segment the target of a single apple image for further noise reduction. Considering the influence of illumination, complex backgrounds and dense occlusions, rough set was applied to obtain the edge image of the target for the upper and lower approximation images, and the results were compared with those of relevant algorithms in this field. The experimental results showed that the RED model in this paper had high accuracy and robustness, and its detection accuracy and stability were significantly improved compared to those of traditional operators, especially under the influence of illumination and complex backgrounds. The effective identification and mitigation of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) ranging errors are essential for achieving high-precision positioning and navigation with ultra-wideband (UWB) technology in harsh indoor environments. In this paper, an efficient UWB ranging-error mitigation strategy that uses novel channel impulse response parameters based on the results of a two-step NLOS identification, composed of a decision tree and feedforward neural network, is proposed to realize indoor locations. NLOS ranging errors are classified into three types, and corresponding mitigation strategies and recall mechanisms are developed, which are also extended to partial line-of-sight (LOS) errors. Extensive experiments involving three obstacles (humans, walls, and glass) and two sites show an average NLOS identification accuracy of 95.05%, with LOS/NLOS recall rates of 95.72%/94.15%. The mitigated LOS errors are reduced by 50.4%, while the average improvement in the accuracy of the three types of NLOS ranging errors is 61.8%, reaching up to 76.84%. Overall, this method achieves a reduction in LOS and NLOS ranging errors of 25.19% and 69.85%, respectively, resulting in a 54.46% enhancement in positioning accuracy. This study introduces a novel nonlinear dynamic analysis method, known as beluga whale optimization–slope entropy (BWO-SlEn), to address the challenge of recognizing sea state signals (SSSs) in complex marine environments. A method of underwater acoustic signal recognition based on BWO-SlEn and one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) is proposed. Firstly, particle swarm optimization–slope entropy (PSO-SlEn), BWO-SlEn, and Harris hawk optimization–slope entropy (HHO-SlEn) were used for feature extraction of noise signal and SSS. After 1D-CNN classification, BWO-SlEn were found to have the best recognition effect. Secondly, fuzzy entropy (FE), sample entropy (SE), permutation entropy (PE), and dispersion entropy (DE) were used to extract the signal features. After 1D-CNN classification, BWO-SlEn and 1D-CNN were found to have the highest recognition rate compared with them. Finally, compared with the other six recognition methods, the recognition rates of BWO-SlEn and 1D-CNN for the noise signal and SSS are at least 6% and 4.75% higher, respectively. This paper considers the interactive effects between the ego vehicle and other vehicles in a dynamic driving environment and proposes an autonomous vehicle lane-changing behavior decision-making and trajectory planning method based on graph convolutional networks (GCNs) and multi-segment polynomial curve optimization. Firstly, hierarchical modeling is applied to the dynamic driving environment, aggregating the dynamic interaction information of driving scenes in the form of graph-structured data. Graph convolutional neural networks are employed to process interaction information and generate ego vehicle's driving behavior decision commands. Subsequently, collision-free drivable areas are constructed based on the dynamic driving scene information. An optimization-based multi-segment polynomial curve trajectory planning method is employed to solve the optimization model, obtaining collision-free motion trajectories satisfying dynamic constraints and efficiently completing the lane-changing behavior of the vehicle. Finally, simulation and on-road vehicle experiments are conducted for the proposed method. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms traditional decision-making and planning methods, exhibiting good robustness, real-time performance, and strong scenario generalization capabilities. A systematic review on the topic of automatic detection of COVID-19 using audio signals was performed. A total of 48 papers were obtained after screening 659 records identified in the PubMed, IEEE Xplore, Embase, and Google Scholar databases. The reviewed studies employ a mixture of open-access and self-collected datasets. Because COVID-19 has only recently been investigated, there is a limited amount of available data. Most of the data are crowdsourced, which motivated a detailed study of the various pre-processing techniques used by the reviewed studies. Although 13 of the 48 identified papers show promising results, several have been performed with small-scale datasets (<200). Among those papers, convolutional neural networks and support vector machine algorithms were the best-performing methods. The analysis of the extracted features showed that Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients and zero-crossing rate continue to be the most popular choices. Less common alternatives, such as non-linear features, have also been proven to be effective. The reported values for sensitivity range from 65.0% to 99.8% and those for accuracy from 59.0% to 99.8%. Deep learning technology has advanced rapidly and has started to be applied for the detection of welding defects. In the manufacturing process of power batteries for new energy vehicles, welding defects may occur due to the high directivity, convergence, and penetration of the laser beam. The accuracy of deep learning prediction relies heavily on big data, but balanced big data of welding defects is hard to acquire at the battery production site. In this paper, the authors construct a dataset named RIAM, which consists of images captured from an industrial environment for laser welding of power battery modules. RIAM contains four types of images: Normality, Lack of fusion, Surface porosity, and Scaled surface. The characteristics of RIAM are carefully considered in the application scenarios. Moreover, this paper proposes a gradient-based unsupervised model named Grad-MobileNet, which can be trained with only a few normal images and can extract the feature gradients of the input images. Welding defects can then be classified by the gradient distribution. This model is based on MobileNetV3, which is a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN), and achieves 99% accuracy, which is higher than the accuracy expected from supervised learning. When performing robotic automatic sorting and assembly operations of multi-category hardware, there are some problems with the existing convolutional neural network visual recognition algorithms, such as large computing power consumption, low recognition efficiency, and a high rate of missed detection and false detection. A novel efficient convolutional neural algorithm for multi-category aliasing hardware recognition is proposed in this paper. On the basis of SSD, the novel algorithm uses Resnet-50 instead of VGG16 as the backbone feature extraction network, and it integrates ECA-Net and Improved Spatial Attention Block (ISAB): two attention mechanisms to improve the ability of learning and extract target features. Then, we pass the weighted features to extra feature layers to build an improved SSD algorithm. At last, in order to compare the performance difference between the novel algorithm and the existing algorithms, three kinds of hardware with different sizes are chosen to constitute an aliasing scene that can simulate an industrial site, and some comparative experiments have been completed finally. The experimental results show that the novel algorithm has an mAP of 98.20% and FPS of 78, which are better than Faster R-CNN, YOLOv4, YOLOXs, EfficientDet-D1, and original SSD in terms of comprehensive performance. Accurate damage location diagnosis of frame structures is of great significance to the judgment of damage degree and subsequent maintenance of frame structures. However, the similarity characteristics of vibration data at different damage locations and noise interference bring great challenges. In order to overcome the above problems and realize accurate damage location diagnosis of the frame structure, the existing convolutional neural network with training interference (TICNN) is improved in this paper, and a high-precision neural network model named convolutional neural network based on Inception (BICNN) for fault diagnosis with strong anti-noise ability is proposed by adding the Inception module to TICNN. In order to effectively avoid the overall misjudgment problem caused by using single sensor data for damage location diagnosis, an integrated damage location diagnosis method is proposed. Taking the four-story steel frame model of the University of British Columbia as the research object, the method proposed in this paper is tested and compared with other methods. The experimental results show that the diagnosis accuracy of the proposed method is 97.38%, which is higher than other methods; at the same time, it has greater advantages in noise resistance. Therefore, the method proposed in this paper not only has high accuracy, but also has strong anti-noise ability, which can solve the problem of accurate damage location diagnosis of complex frame structures under a strong noise environment. The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is one of the widely used deep learning models that offers the chance to boost farming productivity through autonomous inference of field conditions. In this paper, CNN is connected to a Support Vector Machine (SVM) to form a new model CNN-SVM; the CNN models chosen are ResNet-50 and VGG16 and the CNN-SVM models formed are ResNet-50-SVM and VGG16-SVM. The method consists of two parts: ResNet-50 and VGG16 for feature extraction and SVM for classification. This paper uses the public multi-class weeds dataset DeepWeeds for training and testing. The proposed ResNet-50-SVM and VGG16-SVM approaches achieved 97.6% and 95.9% recognition accuracies on the DeepWeeds dataset, respectively. The state-of-the-art networks (VGG16, ResNet-50, GoogLeNet, Densenet-121, and PSO-CNN) with the same dataset are accurate at 93.2%, 96.1%, 93.6%, 94.3%, and 96.9%, respectively. In comparison, the accuracy of the proposed methods has been improved by 1.5% and 2.7%, respectively. In order to more effectively monitor and interfere with enemy signals, it is particularly important to accurately and efficiently identify the intercepted signals and estimate their parameters in the increasingly complex electromagnetic environment. Therefore, in non-cooperative situations, it is of great practical significance to study how to accurately detect direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signals in real time and estimate their parameters. The traditional time-delay correlation algorithm encounters the challenges such as peak energy leakage and false peak interference. As an alternative, this paper introduces a Pseudo-Noise (PN) code period estimation method utilizing a one-dimensional (1D) convolutional neural network based on the residual network (CNN-ResNet). This method transforms the problem of spread spectrum code period estimation into a multi-classification problem of spread spectrum code length estimation. Firstly, the In-phase/Quadrature(I/Q) two-way of the received DSSS signals is directly input into the CNN-ResNet model, which will automatically learn the characteristics of the DSSS signal with different PN code lengths and then estimate the PN code length. Simulation experiments are conducted using a data set with DSSS signals ranging from −20 to 10 dB in terms of signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). Upon training and verifying the model using BPSK modulation, it is then put to the test with QPSK-modulated signals, and the estimation performance was analyzed through metrics such as loss function, accuracy rate, recall rate, and confusion matrix. The results demonstrate that the 1D CNN-ResNet proposed in this paper is capable of effectively estimating the PN code period of the non-cooperative DSSS signal, exhibiting robust generalization abilities. Gait phase recognition is of great importance in the development of rehabilitation devices. The advantages of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are combined (LSTM-CNN) in this paper, then a gait phase recognition method based on LSTM-CNN neural network model is proposed. In the LSTM-CNN model, the LSTM layer is used to process temporal sequences and the CNN layer is used to extract features A wireless sensor system including six inertial measurement units (IMU) fixed on the six positions of the lower limbs was developed. The difference in the gait recognition performance of the LSTM-CNN model was estimated using different groups of input data collected by seven different IMU grouping methods. Four phases in a complete gait were considered in this paper including the supporting phase with the right hill strike (SU-RHS), left leg swimming phase (SW-L), the supporting phase with the left hill strike (SU-LHS), and right leg swimming phase (SW-R). The results show that the best performance of the model in gait recognition appeared based on the group of data from all the six IMUs, with the recognition precision and macro-F1 unto 95.03% and 95.29%, respectively. At the same time, the best phase recognition accuracy for SU-RHS and SW-R appeared and up to 96.49% and 95.64%, respectively. The results also showed the best phase recognition accuracy (97.22%) for SW-L was acquired based on the group of data from four IMUs located at the left and right thighs and shanks. Comparably, the best phase recognition accuracy (97.86%) for SU-LHS was acquired based on the group of data from four IMUs located at left and right shanks and feet. Stress has emerged as a major concern in modern society, significantly impacting human health and well-being. Statistical evidence underscores the extensive social influence of stress, especially in terms of work-related stress and associated healthcare costs. This paper addresses the critical need for accurate stress detection, emphasising its far-reaching effects on health and social dynamics. Focusing on remote stress monitoring, it proposes an efficient deep learning approach for stress detection from facial videos. In contrast to the research on wearable devices, this paper proposes novel Hybrid Deep Learning (DL) networks for stress detection based on remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), employing (Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), 1D Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN)) models with hyperparameter optimisation and augmentation techniques to enhance performance. Among the numerous gaze-estimation methods currently available, appearance-based methods predominantly use RGB images as input and employ convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to detect facial images to regressively obtain gaze angles or gaze points. Model-based methods require high-resolution images to obtain a clear eyeball geometric model. These methods face significant challenges in outdoor environments and practical application scenarios. This paper proposes a model-based gaze-estimation algorithm using a low-resolution 3D TOF camera. This study uses infrared images instead of RGB images as input to overcome the impact of varying illumination intensity in the environment on gaze estimation. We utilized a trained YOLOv8 neural network model to detect eye landmarks in captured facial images. Combined with the depth map from a time-of-flight (TOF) camera, we calculated the 3D coordinates of the canthus points of a single eye of the subject. Based on this, we fitted a 3D geometric model of the eyeball to determine the subject's gaze angle. Experimental validation showed that our method achieved a root mean square error of 6.03° and 4.83° in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively, for the detection of the subject's gaze angle. We also tested the proposed method in a real car driving environment, achieving stable driver gaze detection at various locations inside the car, such as the dashboard, driver mirror, and the in-vehicle screen. The extensive use of corrugated board in the packaging industry is attributed to its excellent cushioning, mechanical properties, and environmental benefits like recyclability and biodegradability. The integrity of corrugated board depends on various factors, including its geometric design, paper quality, the number of layers, and environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature. This study introduces an innovative application of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for analyzing and classifying images of corrugated boards, particularly those with deformations. For this purpose, a special device with advanced imaging capabilities, including a high-resolution camera and image sensor, was developed and used to acquire detailed cross-section images of the corrugated boards. The samples of seven types of corrugated board were studied. The proposed approach involves optimizing CNNs to enhance their classification performance. Despite challenges posed by deformed samples, the methodology demonstrates high accuracy in most cases, though a few samples posed recognition difficulties. The findings of this research are significant for the packaging industry, offering a sophisticated method for quality control and defect detection in corrugated board production. In recent years, radar emitter signal recognition has enjoyed a wide range of applications in electronic support measure systems and communication security. More and more deep learning algorithms have been used to improve the recognition accuracy of radar emitter signals. However, complex deep learning algorithms and data preprocessing operations have a huge demand for computing power, which cannot meet the requirements of low power consumption and high real-time processing scenarios. Therefore, many research works have remained in the experimental stage and cannot be actually implemented. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a resource reuse computing acceleration platform based on field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), and implements a one-dimensional (1D) convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network (NN) model for radar emitter signal recognition, directly targeting the intermediate frequency (IF) data of radar emitter signal for classification and recognition. The implementation of the 1D-CNN-LSTM neural network on FPGA is realized by multiplexing the same systolic array to accomplish the parallel acceleration of 1D convolution and matrix vector multiplication operations. We implemented our network on Xilinx XCKU040 to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed solution. Our experiments show that the system can achieve 7.34 giga operations per second (GOPS) data throughput with only 5.022 W power consumption when the radar emitter signal recognition rate is 96.53%, which greatly improves the energy efficiency ratio and real-time performance of the radar emitter recognition system. The main purpose of this paper is to provide information on how to create a convolutional neural network (CNN) for extracting features from EEG signals. Our task was to understand the primary aspects of creating and fine-tuning CNNs for various application scenarios. We considered the characteristics of EEG signals, coupled with an exploration of various signal processing and data preparation techniques. These techniques include noise reduction, filtering, encoding, decoding, and dimension reduction, among others. In addition, we conduct an in-depth analysis of well-known CNN architectures, categorizing them into four distinct groups: standard implementation, recurrent convolutional, decoder architecture, and combined architecture. Hand gesture recognition, which is one of the fields of human–computer interaction (HCI) research, extracts the user's pattern using sensors. Radio detection and ranging (RADAR) sensors are robust under severe environments and convenient to use for hand gestures. The existing studies mostly adopted continuous-wave (CW) radar, which only shows a good performance at a fixed distance, which is due to its limitation of not seeing the distance. This paper proposes a hand gesture recognition system that utilizes frequency-shift keying (FSK) radar, allowing for a recognition method that can work at the various distances between a radar sensor and a user. Due to the difficulty in generating a 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6-DoF) object pose estimation dataset, and the existence of domain gaps between synthetic and real data, existing pose estimation methods face challenges in improving accuracy and generalization. This paper proposes a methodology that employs higher quality datasets and deep learning-based methods to reduce the problem of domain gaps between synthetic and real data and enhance the accuracy of pose estimation. The high-quality dataset is obtained from Blenderproc and it is innovatively processed using bilateral filtering to reduce the gap. A novel attention-based mask region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) is proposed to reduce the computation cost and improve the model detection accuracy. Meanwhile, an improved feature pyramidal network (iFPN) is achieved by adding a layer of bottom-up paths to extract the internalization of features of the underlying layer. Consequently, a novel convolutional block attention module–convolutional denoising autoencoder (CBAM–CDAE) network is proposed by presenting channel attention and spatial attention mechanisms to improve the ability of AE to extract images' features. The measurement and analysis of vital signs are a subject of significant research interest, particularly for monitoring the driver's physiological state, which is of crucial importance for road safety. Various approaches have been proposed using contact techniques to measure vital signs. However, all of these methods are invasive and cumbersome for the driver. This paper proposes using a non-contact sensor based on continuous wave (CW) radar at 24 GHz to measure vital signs. We associate these measurements with distinct temporal neural networks to analyze the signals to detect and extract heart and respiration rates as well as classify the physiological state of the driver. This approach offers robust performance in estimating the exact values of heart and respiration rates and in classifying the driver's physiological state. It is non-invasive and requires no physical contact with the driver, making it particularly practical and safe. Deep learning-based methods, especially convolutional neural networks, have been developed to automatically process the images of concrete surfaces for crack identification tasks. Although deep learning-based methods claim very high accuracy, they often ignore the complexity of the image collection process. Real-world images are often impacted by complex illumination conditions, shadows, the randomness of crack shapes and sizes, blemishes, and concrete spall. Published literature and available shadow databases are oriented towards images taken in laboratory conditions. In this paper, we explore the complexity of image classification for concrete crack detection in the presence of demanding illumination conditions. Wind energy reserves are large worldwide, but their randomness and volatility hinder wind power development. To promote the utilization of wind energy and improve the accuracy of wind power prediction, we comprehensively consider the influence of wind farm environmental factors and historical power on wind power generation. This paper presents a short-term wind power prediction model based on time convolution neural network (TCN) and variational mode decomposition (VMD). First, due to the non-smooth characteristics of the wind farm environmental data, this paper uses VMD to decompose the data of each environmental variable to reduce the influence of the random noise of the data on the prediction model. Then, the modal components with rich feature information are extracted according to the Pearson correlation coefficient and Maximal information coefficient (MIC) between each modal component and the power. Thirdly, a prediction model based on TCN is trained according to the preferred modal components and historical power data to achieve accurate short-term wind power prediction. In this paper, the model is trained and tested with a public wind power dataset provided by the Spanish Power Company. The simulation results show that the model has higher prediction accuracy, with MAPE and R2 are 2.79% and 0.9985, respectively. With the development of industrial manufacturing intelligence, the role of rotating machinery in industrial production and life is more and more important. Aiming at the problems of the complex and changeable working environment of rolling bearings and limited computing ability, fault feature information cannot be effectively extracted, and the current deep learning model is difficult to be compatible with lightweight and high efficiency. Therefore, this paper proposes a fault detection method for power equipment based on an energy spectrum diagram and deep learning. Firstly, a novel two-dimensional time-frequency feature representation method and energy spectrum feature map based on wavelet packet transform is proposed, and an energy spectrum feature map dataset is made for subsequent diagnosis. This method can realize multi-resolution analysis, fully extract the feature information contained in the fault signal, and accelerate the convergence of the subsequent diagnosis model. Secondly, a lightweight residual dense convolutional neural network model (LR-DenseNet) is proposed. This model combines the advantages of residual learning and a dense connection, and can not only extract deep features more easily, but can also effectively use shallow features. Then, based on the lightweight residual dense convolutional neural network model, an LR-DenseSENet model is proposed. By introducing the transfer learning strategy and adding the channel domain, an attention mechanism is added to the channel feature fusion layer, with the accuracy of detection up to 99.4%, and the amount of parameter calculation greatly reduced to one-fifth of that of VGG. Finally, through an experimental analysis, it is verified that the fault detection model designed in this paper based on the combination of an energy spectrum feature map and LR-DenseSENet achieves a satisfactory detection effect. Traffic flow forecasting is a critical input to intelligent transportation systems. Accurate traffic flow forecasting can provide an effective reference for implementing traffic management strategies, developing travel route planning, and public transportation risk assessment. Recent deep learning approaches of spatiotemporal neural networks to predict traffic flow show promise, but could be difficult to separately model the spatiotemporal aggregation in traffic data and intrinsic correlation or redundancy of spatiotemporal features extracted by the filter of the convolutional network. This can introduce biases in the predictions that interfere with subsequent planning decisions in transportation. To solve the mentioned problem, the filter attention-based spatiotemporal neural network (FASTNN) was proposed in this paper. First, the model used 3-dimensional convolutional neural networks to extract universal spatiotemporal dependencies from three types of historical traffic flow, the residual units were employed to prevent network degradation. Then, the filter spatial attention module was constructed to quantify the spatiotemporal aggregation of the features, thus enabling dynamic adjustment of the spatial weights. To model the intrinsic correlation and redundancy of features, this paper also constructed a lightweight module, named matrix factorization based resample module, which automatically learned the intrinsic correlation of the same features to enhance the concentration of the model on information-rich features, and used matrix factorization to reduce the redundant information between different features. The FASTNN has experimented on two large-scale real datasets (TaxiBJ and BikeNYC), and the experimental results show that the FASTNN has better prediction performance than various baselines and variant models. Under the condition of low signal-to-noise ratio, the target detection performance of radar decreases, which seriously affects the tracking and recognition for the long-range small targets. To solve it, this paper proposes a target detection algorithm using convolutional neural network to process graphically expressed range time series signals. First, the two-dimensional echo signal was processed graphically. Second, the graphical echo signal was detected by the improved convolutional neural network. Surface roughness is a key indicator of the quality of mechanical products, which can precisely portray the fatigue strength, wear resistance, surface hardness and other properties of the products. The convergence of current machine-learning-based surface roughness prediction methods to local minima may lead to poor model generalization or results that violate existing physical laws. Therefore, this paper combined physical knowledge with deep learning to propose a physics-informed deep learning method (PIDL) for milling surface roughness predictions under the constraints of physical laws. This method introduced physical knowledge in the input phase and training phase of deep learning. Data augmentation was performed on the limited experimental data by constructing surface roughness mechanism models with tolerable accuracy prior to training. In the training, a physically guided loss function was constructed to guide the training process of the model with physical knowledge. Considering the excellent feature extraction capability of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and gated recurrent units (GRUs) in the spatial and temporal scales, a CNN–GRU model was adopted as the main model for milling surface roughness predictions. Meanwhile, a bi-directional gated recurrent unit and a multi-headed self-attentive mechanism were introduced to enhance data correlation. In this paper, surface roughness prediction experiments were conducted on the open-source datasets S45C and GAMHE 5.0. In comparison with the results of state-of-the-art methods, the proposed model has the highest prediction accuracy on both datasets, and the mean absolute percentage error on the test set was reduced by 3.029% on average compared to the best comparison method. Traditional methods of gearbox fault diagnosis rely heavily on manual experience. To address this problem, our study proposes a gearbox fault diagnosis method based on multidomain information fusion. An experimental platform consisting of a JZQ250 fixed-axis gearbox was built. An acceleration sensor was used to obtain the vibration signal of the gearbox. Singular value decomposition (SVD) was used to preprocess the signal in order to reduce noise, and the processed vibration signal was subjected to short-time Fourier transform to obtain a two-dimensional time–frequency map. A multidomain information fusion convolutional neural network (CNN) model was constructed. Channel 1 was a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1DCNN) model that input a one-dimensional vibration signal, and channel 2 was a two-dimensional convolutional neural network (2DCNN) model that input short-time Fourier transform (STFT) time–frequency images. The feature vectors extracted using the two channels were then fused into feature vectors for input into the classification model. Finally, support vector machines (SVM) were used to identify and classify the fault types. The model training performance used multiple methods: training set, verification set, loss curve, accuracy curve and t-SNE visualization (t-SNE). Through experimental verification, the method proposed in this paper was compared with FFT-2DCNN, 1DCNN-SVM and 2DCNN-SVM in terms of gearbox fault recognition performance. Tool wear condition monitoring is an important component of mechanical processing automation, and accurately identifying the wear status of tools can improve processing quality and production efficiency. This paper studied a new deep learning model, to identify the wear status of tools. The force signal was transformed into a two-dimensional image using continuous wavelet transform (CWT), short-time Fourier transform (STFT), and Gramian angular summation field (GASF) methods. The generated images were then fed into the proposed convolutional neural network (CNN) model for further analysis. The calculation results show that the accuracy of tool wear state recognition proposed in this paper was above 90%, which was higher than the accuracy of AlexNet, ResNet, and other models. The accuracy of the images generated using the CWT method and identified with the CNN model was the highest, which is attributed to the fact that the CWT method can extract local features of an image and is less affected by noise. Comparing the precision and recall values of the model, it was verified that the image obtained by the CWT method had the highest accuracy in identifying tool wear state. These results demonstrate the potential advantages of using a force signal transformed into a two-dimensional image for tool wear state recognition and of applying CNN models in this area. Continuous efforts were made in detecting cracks in images. Varied CNN models were developed and tested for detecting or segmenting crack regions. However, most datasets used in previous works contained clearly distinctive crack images. No previous methods were validated on blurry cracks captured in low definitions. Therefore, this paper presented a framework of detecting the regions of blurred, indistinct concrete cracks. The framework divides an image into small square patches which are classified into crack or non-crack. Well-known CNN models were employed for the classification and compared with each other with experimental tests. This paper also elaborated on critical factors—the patch size and the way of labeling patches—which had considerable influences on the training performance. Furthermore, a series of post-processes for measuring crack lengths were introduced. An error-related potential (ErrP) occurs when people's expectations are not consistent with the actual outcome. Accurately detecting ErrP when a human interacts with a BCI is the key to improving these BCI systems. In this paper, we propose a multi-channel method for error-related potential detection using a 2D convolutional neural network. Multiple channel classifiers are integrated to make final decisions. Specifically, every 1D EEG signal from the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is transformed into a 2D waveform image; then, a model named attention-based convolutional neural network (AT-CNN) is proposed to classify it. In addition, we propose a multi-channel ensemble approach to effectively integrate the decisions of each channel classifier. Our proposed ensemble approach can learn the nonlinear relationship between each channel and the label, which obtains 5.27% higher accuracy than the majority voting ensemble approach. We conduct a new experiment and validate our proposed method on a Monitoring Error-Related Potential dataset and our dataset. With the method proposed in this paper, the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity were 86.46%, 72.46% and 90.17%, respectively. The result shows that the AT-CNNs-2D proposed in this paper can effectively improve the accuracy of ErrP classification, and provides new ideas for the study of classification of ErrP brain–computer interfaces. Desert steppes are the last barrier to protecting the steppe ecosystem. However, existing grassland monitoring methods still mainly use traditional monitoring methods, which have certain limitations in the monitoring process. Additionally, the existing deep learning classification models of desert and grassland still use traditional convolutional neural networks for classification, which cannot adapt to the classification task of irregular ground objects, which limits the classification performance of the model. To address the above problems, this paper uses a UAV hyperspectral remote sensing platform for data acquisition and proposes a spatial neighborhood dynamic graph convolution network (SN_DGCN) for degraded grassland vegetation community classification. The results show that the proposed classification model had the highest classification accuracy compared to the seven classification models of MLP, 1DCNN, 2DCNN, 3DCNN, Resnet18, Densenet121, and SN_GCN; its OA, AA, and kappa were 97.13%, 96.50%, and 96.05% in the case of only 10 samples per class of features, respectively; The classification performance was stable under different numbers of training samples, had better generalization ability in the classification task of small samples, and was more effective for the classification task of irregular features. Meanwhile, the latest desert grassland classification models were also compared, which fully demonstrated the superior classification performance of the proposed model in this paper. As CNNs are widely used in fields such as image classification and target detection, the total number of parameters and computation of the models is gradually increasing. In addition, the requirements on hardware resources and power consumption for deploying CNNs are becoming higher and higher, leading to CNN models being restricted to certain specific platforms for miniaturization and practicality. Therefore, this paper proposes a convolutional-neural-network-processor design with an FPGA-based resource-multiplexing architecture, aiming to reduce the consumption of hardware resources and power consumption of CNNs. First, this paper takes a handwritten-digit-recognition CNN as an example of a CNN design based on a resource-multiplexing architecture, and the prediction accuracy of the CNN can reach 97.3 percent by training and testing with Mnist dataset. Then, the CNN is deployed on FPGA using the hardware description language Verilog, and the design is optimized by resource multiplexing and parallel processing. Retinal vessel segmentation is extremely important for risk prediction and treatment of many major diseases. Therefore, accurate segmentation of blood vessel features from retinal images can help assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment. Convolutional neural networks are good at extracting local feature information, but the convolutional block receptive field is limited. Transformer, on the other hand, performs well in modeling long-distance dependencies. Therefore, in this paper, a new network model MTPA_Unet is designed from the perspective of extracting connections between local detailed features and making complements using long-distance dependency information, which is applied to the retinal vessel segmentation task. MTPA_Unet uses multi-resolution image input to enable the network to extract information at different levels. The proposed TPA module not only captures long-distance dependencies, but also focuses on the location information of the vessel pixels to facilitate capillary segmentation. The Transformer is combined with the convolutional neural network in a serial approach, and the original MSA module is replaced by the TPA module to achieve finer segmentation. Finally, the network model is evaluated and analyzed on three recognized retinal image datasets DRIVE, CHASE DB1, and STARE. The evaluation metrics were 0.9718, 0.9762, and 0.9773 for accuracy; 0.8410, 0.8437, and 0.8938 for sensitivity; and 0.8318, 0.8164, and 0.8557 for Dice coefficient. Compared with existing retinal image segmentation methods, the proposed method in this paper achieved better vessel segmentation in all of the publicly available fundus datasets tested performance and results. Aiming at the problems of large intra-class differences, small inter-class differences, low contrast, and small and unbalanced datasets in dermoscopic images, this paper proposes a dermoscopic image classification method based on an ensemble of fine-tuned convolutional neural networks. By reconstructing the fully connected layers of the three pretrained models of Xception, ResNet50, and Vgg-16 and then performing transfer learning and fine-tuning the three pretrained models with the ISIC 2016 Challenge official skin dataset, we integrated the outputs of the three base models using a weighted fusion ensemble strategy in order to obtain a final prediction result able to distinguish whether a dermoscopic image indicates malignancy. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the ensemble model is 86.91%, the precision is 85.67%, the recall is 84.03%, and the F1-score is 84.84%, with these four evaluation metrics being better than those of the three basic models and better than some classical methods, proving the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. The tunnel construction area poses significant challenges for the use of vision technology due to the presence of nonhomogeneous haze fields and low-contrast targets. However, existing dehazing algorithms display weak generalization, leading to dehazing failures, incomplete dehazing, or color distortion in this scenario. Therefore, an adversarial dual-branch convolutional neural network (ADN) is proposed in this paper to deal with the above challenges. The ADN utilizes two branches of the knowledge transfer sub-network and the multi-scale dense residual sub-network to process the hazy image and then aggregate the channels. This input is then passed through a discriminator to judge true and false, motivating the network to improve performance. Additionally, a tunnel haze field simulation dataset (Tunnel-HAZE) is established based on the characteristics of nonhomogeneous dust distribution and artificial light sources in the tunnel. Comparative experiments with existing advanced dehazing algorithms indicate an improvement in both PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and SSIM (Structural Similarity) by 4.07 dB and 0.032 dB, respectively. Furthermore, a binocular measurement experiment conducted in a simulated tunnel environment demonstrated a reduction in the relative error of measurement results by 50.5% when compared to the haze image. In this paper, research was conducted on Deep Learning Wavefront Sensing (DLWS) neural networks using simulated atmospheric turbulence datasets, and a novel DLWS was proposed based on attention mechanisms and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). The study encompassed both indoor experiments and kilometer-range laser transmission experiments employing DLWS. In terms of indoor experiments, data were collected and training was performed on the platform built by us. Subsequent comparative experiments with the Shack-Hartmann Wavefront Sensing (SHWS) method revealed that our DLWS model achieved accuracy on par with SHWS. For the kilometer-scale experiments, we directly applied the DLWS model obtained from the indoor platform, eliminating the need for new data collection or additional training. The DLWS predicts the wavefront from the beacon light PSF in real time and then uses it for aberration correction of the emitted laser. The results demonstrate a substantial improvement in the average peak intensity of the light spot at the target position after closed-loop correction, with a remarkable increase of 5.35 times compared to the open-loop configuration. With the advancement of neural networks, more and more neural networks are being applied to structural health monitoring systems (SHMSs). When an SHMS requires the integration of numerous neural networks, high-performance and low-latency networks are favored. This paper focuses on damage detection based on vibration signals. In contrast to traditional neural network approaches, this study utilizes a stochastic configuration network (SCN). An SCN is an incrementally learning network that randomly configures appropriate neurons based on data and errors. It is an emerging neural network that does not require predefined network structures and is not based on gradient descent. While SCNs dynamically define the network structure, they essentially function as fully connected neural networks that fail to capture the temporal properties of monitoring data effectively. Moreover, they suffer from inference time and computational cost issues. To enable faster and more accurate operation within the monitoring system, this paper introduces a stochastic convolutional feature extraction approach that does not rely on backpropagation. Additionally, a random node deletion algorithm is proposed to automatically prune redundant neurons in SCNs, addressing the issue of network node redundancy. Experimental results demonstrate that the feature extraction method improves accuracy by 30% compared to the original SCN, and the random node deletion algorithm removes approximately 10% of neurons.
