Short wavelength automated perimetry (SWAP) is known for detecting the early reduction of retinal sensitivity (RS) in glaucoma. It’s application in retinal diseases have also been discussed previously. We investigated the difference in RS measured between standard white-on-white automated perimetry (WW) and blue-on-yellow SWAP in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). The overall RS (W-RS, S-RS) as well as the RS inside and outside of the serous retinal detachment (SRD) region were investigated in 26 eyes of 26 CSC patients using WW and SWAP. Complete mitochondrial genomes contain large and diverse datasets for species delineation. To better understand the divergence of the two morphologically indistinguishable weevil species in Curculionini, we first sequenced and compared their complete mitochondrial genomes. The complete mitochondrial genomes of Curculio chinensis and Curculio sp. were 19,713 bp with an A + T content of 76.61% and 19,216 bp with an A + T content of 76.85%, respectively. All 37 of the typical mitochondrial genes were determined in both species. The 13 protein sequences of the two species shared high homology (about 90%) except for ATP8 (73.08%). The differences in secondary structure of ATP8 were the number of possible proteins and nucleic acid binding sites. There were 22 and 15 mismatched base-pairs in the tRNA secondary structures from C. chinensis and Curculio sp., respectively. Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian analyses indicated that Curculio sp. is a novel species closely related to C. chinensis. The divergence time estimation suggests that Cryptorhynchinae and Curculionini lines diverged in the Cenozoic Period, while C. chinensis and Curculio sp. diverged at 6.7079 (95% CI 5–13) Mya. This study demonstrates the utility of using complete mitochondrial gene sets for phylogenetic analysis and enhances our understanding of the genetic basis for the evolution of the Curculionini.

Highly selective radical/radical cross-coupling is paid more attention in bond formations. However, due to their intrinsic active properties, radical species are apt to achieve homo-coupling instead of cross-coupling, which makes the selective cross-coupling as a great challenge and almost untouched. Herein a notable strategy to accomplish direct radical/radical oxidative cross-coupling has been demonstrated, that is metal tuning a transient radical to a persistent radical intermediate followed by coupling with another transient radical. Here, a transient nitrogen-centered radical is tuned to a persistent radical complex by copper catalyst, followed by coupling with a transient allylic carbon-centered radical. Firstly, nitrogen-centered radical generated from N-methoxybenzamide stabilized by copper catalyst was successfully observed by EPR. Then DFT calculations revealed that a triplet diradical Cu(II) complex formed from the chelation N-methoxybenzamide nitrogen-centered radical to Cu(II) is a persistent radical species. Moreover, conceivable nitrogen-centered radical Cu(II) complex was observed by high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Ultimately, various allylic amides derivatives were obtained in good yields by adopting this strategy, which might inspire a novel and promising landscape in radical chemistry.

RNA contains a large number of modified nucleosides. In the metabolic re-exchange of RNA, modified nucleosides cannot be recycled and are thus excreted from cells into biological fluids. Determination of endogenous modified nucleosides in biological fluids may serve as non-invasive cancers diagnostic methods. Here we prepared boronate-affinity organic-silica hybrid capillary monolithic column (BOHCMC) that exhibited excellent selectivity toward the cis-diol-containing compounds. We then used the prepared BOHCMC as the on-line solid-phase microextraction (SPME) column and developed an on-line SPME-LC-MS/MS method to comprehensively profile cis-diol-containing nucleosides and ribosylated metabolites in human urine. Forty-five cis-diol-containing nucleosides and ribosylated metabolites were successfully identified in human urine. And five ribose conjugates, for the first time, were identified existence in human urine in the current study. Furthermore, the relative quantification suggested 4 cis-diol-containing compounds (5'-deoxy-5'-methylthioadensine, N(4)-acetylcytidine, 1-ribosyl-N-propionylhistamine and N(2),N(2),7-trimethylguanosine) increased more than 1.5 folds in all the 3 types of examined cancers (lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer) compared to healthy controls. The on-line SPME-LC-MS/MS method demonstrates a promising method for the comprehensive profiling of cis-diol-containing ribose conjugates in human urines, which provides an efficient strategy for the identification and discovery of biomarkers and may be used for the screening of cancers.
