Leukemia is a type of blood tumour that occurs because of abnormal enhancement in WBCs (white blood cells) in the bone marrow of the human body. Blood-forming tissue cancer influences the lymphatic and bone marrow system. The early diagnosis and detection of leukaemia, i.e., the accurate difference of malignant leukocytes with little expense at the beginning of the disease, is a primary challenge in the disease analysis field. Despite the higher occurrence of leukemia, there is a lack of flow cytometry tools, and the procedures accessible at medical diagnostics centres are time-consuming. Distinct researchers have implemented computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) and machine learning (ML) methods for laboratory image analysis, aiming to manage the restrictions of late leukemia analysis. This study proposes a new Falcon optimization algorithm with deep convolutional neural network for Leukemia detection and classification (FOADCNN-LDC) technique. The main objective of the FOADCNN-LDC technique is to classify and recognize leukemia. The FOADCNN-LDC technique utilizes a median filtering (MF) based noise removal process to eradicate the image noise. Besides, the FOADCNN-LDC technique employs the ShuffleNetv2 model for the feature extraction process. Moreover, the detection and classification of the leukemia process are performed by utilizing the convolutional denoising autoencoder (CDAE) model. The FOA is implemented to select the hyperparameter of the CDAE model. The simulation process of the FOADCNN-LDC approach is performed on a benchmark medical dataset. There is a growing number of publicly available ophthalmic imaging datasets and open-source code for Machine Learning algorithms. This allows ophthalmic researchers and practitioners to independently perform various deep-learning tasks. With the advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) and in the field of imaging, the choice of the most appropriate AI architecture for different tasks will vary greatly. The best-performing AI-dataset combination will depend on the specific problem that needs to be solved and the type of data available. The article discusses different machine learning models and deep learning architectures currently used for various ophthalmic imaging modalities and for different machine learning tasks. It also proposes the most appropriate models based on accuracy and other important factors such as training time, the ability to deploy the model on clinical devices/smartphones, heatmaps that enhance the self-explanatory nature of classification decisions, and the ability to train/adapt on small image datasets to determine if further data collection is worthwhile. The article extensively reviews the existing state-of-the-art AI methods focused on useful machine-learning applications for ophthalmology. It estimates their performance and viability through training and evaluating architectures with different public and private image datasets of different modalities, such as full-color retinal images, OCT images, and 3D OCT scans. Accurate identification and classification of equipment defects are essential for assessing the health of power equipment and making informed maintenance decisions. Traditional defect classification methods, which rely on subjective manual records and intricate defect descriptions, have proven to be inefficient. Existing approaches often evaluate equipment status solely based on defect grade. To enhance the precision of power equipment defect identification, we developed a multi-label classification dataset by compiling historical defect records. Furthermore, we assessed the performance of 11 established multi-label classification methods on this dataset, encompassing both traditional machine learning and deep learning methods. Experimental results reveal that methods considering label correlations exhibit significant performance advantages. By employing balanced loss functions, we effectively address the challenge of sample imbalance across various categories, thereby enhancing classification accuracy. Additionally, segmenting the power equipment defect classification task, which involves numerous labels, into label recall and ranking stages can substantially improve classification performance. Feature Selection (FS) is essential in the Internet of Things (IoT)-based Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the system. With the increasing number of sensors and devices used in healthcare, the volume of data generated is vast and complex. Relevant FS from this data is crucial in reducing computational overhead, improving the system’s interpretability, and enhancing the Decision-Making System (DMS) quality. FS also aids in addressing the problems of data redundancy and noise, which can negatively impact the system’s performance. FS is critical to developing practical and dependable CDSS in IoT-based healthcare sectors. This research proposes a two-phase FS model. Phase-I employs an ensemble of five Filter Methods (FM), followed by a Pearson Correlation Method (PCM). Phase-II uses the Binary Optimized Genetic Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm (BOGGWOA) as a Wrapper Method (WM). This recommended model integrates the most valuable features of each filter. Then, it uses the Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) to get rid of features that aren’t needed, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) to guess how accurate their classification will be, and BOGGWOA as the Wrapper Method (WM) to pick the most essential features with the best CA. This study introduces an optimized hybrid deep learning approach that leverages meteorological data to improve short-term wind energy forecasting in desert regions. Over a year, various machine learning and deep learning models have been tested across different wind speed categories, with multiple performance metrics used for evaluation. Hyperparameter optimization for the LSTM and Conv-Dual Attention Long Short-Term Memory (Conv-DA-LSTM) architectures was performed. A comparison of the techniques indicates that the deep learning methods consistently outperform the classical techniques, with Conv-DA-LSTM yielding the best overall performance with a clear margin. This method obtained the lowest error rates (RMSE: 71.866) and the highest level of accuracy (R2: 0.93). The optimization clearly works for higher wind speeds, achieving a remarkable improvement of 22.9%. When we look at the monthly performance, all the months presented at least some level of consistent enhancement (RRMSE reductions from 1.6 to 10.2%). These findings highlight the potential of advanced deep learning techniques in enhancing wind energy forecasting accuracy, particularly in challenging desert environments. Current approaches to activity-assisted living (AAL) are complex, expensive, and intrusive, which reduces their practicality and end user acceptance. However, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and wireless communications offer new opportunities to enhance AAL systems. These improvements could potentially lower healthcare costs and reduce hospitalisations by enabling more effective identification, monitoring, and localisation of hazardous activities, ensuring rapid response to emergencies. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces the TransparentRFIDTag Wall (TRT-Wall), a novel system taht utilises a passive ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag array combined with deep learning for contactless human activity monitoring. The TRT-Wall is tested on five distinct activities: sitting, standing, walking (in both directions), and no-activity. Experimental results demonstrate that the TRT-Wall distinguishes these activities with an impressive average accuracy of 95.6 % under four distinct distances (2, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 m) by capturing the RSSI and phase information. The main bottleneck in training a robust tumor segmentation algorithm for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) on H&E is generating sufficient ground truth annotations. Various approaches for generating tumor labels to train a tumor segmentation model was explored. A large dataset of low-cost low-accuracy panCK-based annotations was used to pre-train the model and determine the minimum required size of the expensive but highly accurate pathologist annotations dataset. PanCK pre-training was compared to foundation models and various architectures were explored for model backbone. Proper study design and sample procurement for training a generalizable model that captured variations in NSCLC H&E was studied. H&E imaging was performed on 112 samples (three centers, two scanner types, different staining and imaging protocols). Attention U-Net architecture was trained using the large panCK-based annotations dataset (68 samples, total area 10,326 [mm2]) followed by fine-tuning using a small pathologist annotations dataset (80 samples, total area 246 [mm2]). This approach resulted in mean intersection over union (mIoU) of 82% [77 87]. Using panCK pretraining provided better performance compared to foundation models and allowed for 70% reduction in pathologist annotations with no drop in performance. In the field of spinal pathology, sagittal balance of the spine is usually judged by the spatial structure and morphology of pelvis, which can be represented by pelvic parameters. Pelvic parameters, including pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt and sacral slope, are therefore essential for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders, however, it is a time-consuming and laborious procedure to measure these parameters by traditional methods. In this paper, an automatic measurement framework for pelvic CT images was proposed to calculate three-dimensional (3D) pelvic parameters with the support of deep learning technology. Pelvic images were first preprocessed, and 3D reconstruction was then performed to obtain 3D pelvic model by the Visualization Toolkit. DRINet was trained to segment the femoral head region in the pelvic images, and 3D sphere fitting was performed to locate the femoral heads. In addition, VGG16 was adopted to recognize images containing superior sacral endplate, and the plane growth algorithm was used to fit the plane so that the midpoint and normal vector of the superior sacral endplate could be obtained. Finally, 3D pelvic parameters were automatically calculated, and compared with manual measurements for 15 patients. The proposed framework automatically generated 3D pelvic models, and calculated two-dimensional (2D) and 3D pelvic parameters from continuous CT images. Experiments demonstrated that the framework can greatly speed up the calculation of pelvic parameters, and these parameters are accurate when compared with the manual measurements. In conclusion, the proposed framework demonstrates good performance on automatic pelvimetry measurement by incorporating deep learning technology, and can well replace the traditional methods for pelvic parameter measurement. The analysis of eye movements has proven valuable for understanding brain function and the neuropathology of various disorders. This research aims to utilize eye movement data analysis as a screening tool for differentiation between eight different groups of pathologies, including scholar, neurologic, and postural disorders. Leveraging a dataset from 20 clinical centers, all employing AIDEAL and REMOBI eye movement technologies this study extends prior research by considering a multi-annotation setting, incorporating information from recordings from saccade and vergence eye movement tests, and using contextual information (e.g. target signals and latency of the eye movement relative to the target and confidence level of the quality of eye movement recording) to improve accuracy while reducing noise interference. Additionally, we introduce a novel hybrid architecture that combines the weight-sharing feature of convolution layers with the long-range capabilities of the transformer architecture to improve model efficiency and reduce the computation cost by a factor of 3.36, while still being competitive in terms of macro F1 score. Evaluated on two diverse datasets, our method demonstrates promising results, the most powerful discrimination being Attention & Neurologic; with a macro F1 score of up to 78.8%; disorder. The results indicate the effectiveness of our approach in classifying eye movement data from different pathologies and different clinical centers accurately, thus enabling the creation of an assistant tool in the future. Manual identification of tomato leaf diseases is a time-consuming and laborious process that may lead to inaccurate results without professional assistance. Therefore, an automated, early, and precise leaf disease recognition system is essential for farmers to ensure the quality and quantity of tomato production by providing timely interventions to mitigate disease spread. In this study, we have proposed seven robust Bayesian optimized deep hybrid learning models leveraging the synergy between deep learning and machine learning for the automated classification of ten types of tomato leaves (nine diseased and one healthy). We customized the popular Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm for automatic feature extraction due to its ability to capture spatial hierarchies of features directly from raw data and classical machine learning techniques [Random Forest (RF), XGBoost, GaussianNB (GNB), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Multinomial Logistic Regression (MLR), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN)], and stacking for classifications. Additionally, the study incorported a Boruta feature filtering layer to capture the statistically significant features. The standard, research-oriented PlantVillage dataset was used for the performance testing, which facilitates benchmarking against prior research and enables meaningful comparisons of classification performance across different approaches. We utilized a variety of statistical classification metrics to demonstrate the robustness of our models. Using the CNN-Stacking model, this study achieved the highest classification performance among the seven hybrid models. On an unseen dataset, this model achieved average precision, recall, f1-score, mcc, and accuracy values of 98.527%, 98.533%, 98.527%, 98.525%, and 98.268%, respectively. Our study requires only 0.174 s of testing time to correctly identify noisy, blurry, and transformed images. This indicates our approach's time efficiency and generalizability in images captured under challenging lighting conditions and with complex backgrounds. Based on the comparative analysis, our approach is superior and computationally inexpensive compared to the existing studies. Diabetic retinopathy (DR), a leading cause of blindness in diabetic patients, necessitates the precise segmentation of lesions for the effective grading of lesions. DR multi-lesion segmentation faces the main concerns as follows. On the one hand, retinal lesions vary in location, shape, and size. On the other hand, the currently available multi-lesion region segmentation models are insufficient in their extraction of minute features and are prone to overlooking microaneurysms. To solve the above problems, we propose a novel deep learning method: the Multi-Scale Spatial Attention Gate (MSAG) mechanism network. The model inputs images of varying scales in order to extract a range of semantic information. Our innovative Spatial Attention Gate merges low-level spatial details with high-level semantic content, assigning hierarchical attention weights for accurate segmentation. The incorporation of the modified spatial attention gate in the inference stage enhances precision by combining prediction scales hierarchically, thereby improving segmentation accuracy without increasing the associated training costs. Inferring gene regulatory networks through deep learning and causal inference methods is a crucial task in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics. This study presents a novel approach that uses a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) guided by causal information to infer Gene Regulatory Networks (GRN). The transfer entropy and reconstruction layer are utilized to achieve causal feature reconstruction, mitigating the information loss problem caused by multiple rounds of neighbor aggregation in GCN, resulting in a causal and integrated representation of node features. Separable features are extracted from gene expression data by the Gaussian-kernel Autoencoder to improve computational efficiency. Experimental results on the DREAM5 and the mDC dataset demonstrate that our method exhibits superior performance compared to existing algorithms, as indicated by the higher values of the AUPRC metrics. This work aims to explore the application of an improved convolutional neural network (CNN) combined with Internet of Things (IoT) technology in art design education and teaching. The development of IoT technology has created new opportunities for art design education, while deep learning and improved CNN models can provide more accurate and effective tools for image processing and analysis. In order to enhance the effectiveness of art design teaching and students' creative expression, this work proposes an improved CNN model. In model construction, it increases the number of convolutional layers and neurons, and incorporates the batch normalization layer and dropout layer to enhance feature extraction capabilities and reduce overfitting. Besides, this work creates an experimental environment using IoT technology, capturing art image samples and environmental data using cameras, sensors, and other devices. In the model application phase, image samples undergo preprocessing and are input into the CNN for feature extraction. Sensor data are concatenated with image feature vectors and input into the fully connected layers to comprehensively understand the artwork. Finally, this work trains the model using techniques such as cross-entropy loss functions and L2 regularization and adjusts hyperparameters to optimize model performance. The results indicate that the improved CNN model can effectively acquire art sample data and student creative expression data, providing accurate and timely feedback and guidance for art design education and teaching, with promising applications. Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most prevalent form of dementia, requires early prediction for timely intervention. Current deep learning approaches, particularly those using traditional neural networks, face challenges such as handling high-dimensional data, interpreting complex relationships, and managing data bias. To address these limitations, we propose a framework utilizing graph neural networks (GNNs), which excel in modeling relationships within graph-structured data. Our study employs GNNs on data from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative for binary and multi-class classification across the three stages of AD: cognitively normal (CN), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and Alzheimer's disease (AD). By incorporating comorbidity data derived from electronic health records, we achieved the most effective multi-classification results. Notably, the GNN model (Chebyshev Convolutional Neural Networks) demonstrated superior performance with a 0.98 accuracy in multi-class classification and 0.99, 0.93, and 0.94 in the AD/CN, AD/MCI, and CN/MCI binary tasks, respectively. The model's robustness was further validated using the Australian Imaging, Biomarker & Lifestyle dataset as an external validation set. Switching functionality is pivotal in advancing communication systems, serving as a paramount mechanism. Despite numerous innovations in this field, optical switch design, fabrication, and characterization have traditionally followed an iterative approach. Within this paradigm, the designer formulates an informed conjecture regarding the switch's structural configuration and subsequently resolves Maxwell's equations to ascertain its performance. Conversely, the inverse problem, which entails deriving a switch geometry to achieve a targeted electromagnetic response, continues to pose formidable challenges and necessitates substantial time and effort, particularly under the constraints of specific assumptions. In this work, we propose a deep neural network-based method to approximate the spectral transmittance of all-optical switches. The findings substantiate the efficacy of deep learning in the design of all-optical plasmonic switches, which are renowned as the fastest switches at the nanoscale. The nonlinear Kerr effect in square resonators is leveraged to demonstrate the switching performance. Juxtaposed with conventional simulations, the proposed model showcases a remarkable improvement in computational efficiency. Furthermore, deep learning can resolve nanophotonic inverse design problems without reliance on trial-and-error or empirical strategies. Compared to simulations, the mean squared error for both forward and inverse models is meager, with values of around 0.03 and 0.02, respectively. Predicting the spread trends of a pandemic is crucial, but long-term prediction remains challenging due to complex relationships among disease spread stages and preventive policies. To address this issue, we propose a novel approach that utilizes data augmentation techniques, compartmental model features, and disease preventive policies. We also use a breakpoint detection method to divide the disease spread into distinct stages and weight these stages using a self-attention mechanism to account for variations in virus transmission capabilities. Finally, we introduce a long-term spread trend prediction model for infectious diseases based on a bi-directional gated recurrent unit network. To evaluate the effectiveness of our model, we conducted experiments using public datasets, focusing on the prediction of COVID-19 cases in four countries over a period of 210 days. Experiments shown that the Adjust-R2 index of our model exceeds 0.9914, outperforming existing models. Furthermore, our model reduces the mean absolute error by 0.85–4.52% compared to other models. Across the globe, many transport bodies are advocating for increased cycling due to its health and environmental benefits. Yet, the real and perceived dangers of urban cycling remain obstacles. While serious injuries and fatalities in cycling are infrequent, "near misses"-events where a person on a bike is forced to avoid a potential crash or is unsettled by a close vehicle-are more prevalent. To understand these occurrences, researchers have turned to naturalistic studies, attaching various sensors like video cameras to bikes or cyclists. This sensor data holds the potential to unravel the risks cyclists face. Still, the sheer amount of video data often demands manual processing, limiting the scope of such studies. In this paper, we unveil a cutting-edge computer vision framework tailored for automated near-miss video analysis and for detecting various associated risk factors. Additionally, the framework can understand the statistical significance of various risk factors, providing a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by cyclists. We shed light on the pronounced effects of factors like glare, vehicle and pedestrian presence, examining their roles in near misses through Granger causality with varied time lags. This framework enables the automated detection of multiple factors and understanding their significant weight, thus enhancing the efficiency and scope of naturalistic cycling studies. This study constructed deep learning models using plain skull radiograph images to predict the accurate postnatal age of infants under 12 months. Utilizing the results of the trained deep learning models, it aimed to evaluate the feasibility of employing major changes visible in skull X-ray images for assessing postnatal cranial development through gradient-weighted class activation mapping. We developed DenseNet-121 and EfficientNet-v2-M convolutional neural network models to analyze 4933 skull X-ray images collected from 1343 infants. Notably, allowing for a ± 1 month error margin, DenseNet-121 reached a maximum corrected accuracy of 79.4% for anteroposterior (AP) views (average: 78.0 ± 1.5%) and 84.2% for lateral views (average: 81.1 ± 2.9%). EfficientNet-v2-M reached a maximum corrected accuracy 79.1% for AP views (average: 77.0 ± 2.3%) and 87.3% for lateral views (average: 85.1 ± 2.5%). Saliency maps identified critical discriminative areas in skull radiographs, including the coronal, sagittal, and metopic sutures in AP skull X-ray images, and the lambdoid suture and cortical bone density in lateral images, marking them as indicators for evaluating cranial development. These findings highlight the precision of deep learning in estimating infant age through non-invasive methods, offering the progress for clinical diagnostics and developmental assessment tools. Humans express emotions through various modalities such as facial expressions and natural language. However, the relationships between emotions expressed through different modalities and their correlations with neural activities remain uncertain. Here, we aimed to unveil some of these uncertainties by investigating the similarity of emotion representations across modalities and brain regions. First, we represented various emotion categories as multi-dimensional vectors derived from visual (face), linguistic, and visio-linguistic data, and used representational similarity analysis to compare these modalities. Second, we examined the linear transferability of emotion representation from other modalities to the visual modality. Third, we compared the representational structure derived in the first step with those from brain activities across 360 regions. Our findings revealed that emotion representations share commonalities across modalities with modality-type dependent variations, and they can be linearly mapped from other modalities to the visual modality. Additionally, emotion representations in uni-modalities showed relatively higher similarity with specific brain regions, while multi-modal emotion representation was most similar to representations across the entire brain region. These findings suggest that emotional experiences are represented differently across various brain regions with varying degrees of similarity to different modality types, and that they may be multi-modally conveyable in visual and linguistic domains. Image segmentation of the liver is an important step in treatment planning for liver cancer. However, manual segmentation at a large scale is not practical, leading to increasing reliance on deep learning models to automatically segment the liver. This manuscript develops a generalizable deep learning model to segment the liver on T1-weighted MR images. In particular, three distinct deep learning architectures (nnUNet, PocketNet, Swin UNETR) were considered using data gathered from six geographically different institutions. A total of 819 T1-weighted MR images were gathered from both public and internal sources. Our experiments compared each architecture's testing performance when trained both intra-institutionally and inter-institutionally. Models trained using nnUNet and its PocketNet variant achieved mean Dice-Sorensen similarity coefficients>0.9 on both intra- and inter-institutional test set data. The performance of these models suggests that nnUNet and PocketNet liver segmentation models trained on a large and diverse collection of T1-weighted MR images would on average achieve good intra-institutional segmentation performance. Deep learning has shown great promise in predicting Atrial Fibrillation using ECG signals and other vital signs. However, a major hurdle lies in the privacy concerns surrounding these datasets, which often contain sensitive patient information. Balancing accurate AFib prediction with robust user privacy remains a critical challenge to address. We suggest Federated Learning , a privacy-preserving machine learning technique, to address this privacy barrier. Our approach makes use of FL by presenting Fed-CL, a advanced method that combines Long Short-Term Memory networks and Convolutional Neural Networks to accurately predict AFib. Recent developments in Deep Learning have opened the possibility for automated segmentation of large and highly detailed CT scan datasets of fossil material. However, previous methodologies have required large amounts of training data to reliably extract complex skeletal structures. Here we present a method for automated Deep Learning segmentation to obtain high-fidelity 3D models of fossils digitally extracted from the surrounding rock, training the model with less than 1%-2% of the total CT dataset. This workflow has the capacity to revolutionise the use of Deep Learning to significantly reduce the processing time of such data and boost the availability of segmented CT-scanned fossil material for future research outputs. The global interest in market prediction has driven the adoption of advanced technologies beyond traditional statistical models. This paper explores the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques for stock market forecasting. We propose a comprehensive approach that includes efficient feature selection, data preprocessing, and classification methodologies. The wavelet transform method is employed for data cleaning and noise reduction. Feature selection is optimized using the Dandelion Optimization Algorithm (DOA), identifying the most relevant input features. A novel hybrid model, 3D-CNN-GRU, integrating a 3D convolutional neural network with a gated recurrent unit, is developed for stock market data analysis. Hyperparameter tuning is facilitated by the Blood Coagulation Algorithm (BCA), enhancing model performance. With the exponential progress in the field of cheminformatics, the conventional modeling approaches have so far been to employ supervised and unsupervised machine learning (ML) and deep learning models, utilizing the standard molecular descriptors, which represent the structural, physicochemical, and electronic properties of a particular compound. Deviating from the conventional approach, in this investigation, we have employed the classification Read-Across Structure-Activity Relationship (c-RASAR), which involves the amalgamation of the concepts of classification-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) and Read-Across to incorporate Read-Across-derived similarity and error-based descriptors into a statistical and machine learning modeling framework. ML models developed from these RASAR descriptors use similarity-based information from the close source neighbors of a particular query compound. We have employed different classification modeling algorithms on the selected QSAR and RASAR descriptors to develop predictive models for efficient prediction of query compounds' hepatotoxicity. The predictivity of each of these models was evaluated on a large number of test set compounds. The best-performing model was also used to screen a true external data set. The concepts of explainable AI (XAI) coupled with Read-Across were used to interpret the contributions of the RASAR descriptors in the best c-RASAR model and to explain the chemical diversity in the dataset. The application of various unsupervised dimensionality reduction techniques like t-SNE and UMAP and the supervised ARKA framework showed the usefulness of the RASAR descriptors over the selected QSAR descriptors in their ability to group similar compounds, enhancing the modelability of the dataset and efficiently identifying activity cliffs. Furthermore, the activity cliffs were also identified from Read-Across by observing the nature of compounds constituting the nearest neighbors for a particular query compound. On comparing our simple linear c-RASAR model with the previously reported models developed using the same dataset derived from the US FDA Orange Book (https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/ob/index.cfm), it was observed that our model is simple, reproducible, transferable, and highly predictive. The multi-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is widely utilized in clinical diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac conditions. The advancement of deep learning has led to the emergence of automated multi-lead ECG diagnostic networks, which have become essential in the fields of biomedical engineering and clinical cardiac disease diagnosis. Intelligent ECG diagnosis techniques encompass Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Transformers, and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). While CNN is capable of extracting local spatial information from images, it lacks the ability to learn global spatial features and temporal memory features. Conversely, RNN relies on time and can retain significant sequential features. However, they are not proficient in extracting lengthy dependencies of sequence data in practical scenarios. The self-attention mechanism in the Transformer model has the capability of global feature extraction, but it does not adequately prioritize local features and cannot extract spatial and channel features. This paper proposes STFAC-ECGNet, a model that incorporates CAMV-RNN block, CBMV-CNN block, and TSEF block to enhance the performance of the model by integrating the strengths of CNN, RNN, and Transformer. The CAMV-RNN block incorporates a coordinated adaptive simplified self-attention module that adaptively carries out global sequence feature retention and enhances spatial–temporal information. The CBMV-CNN block integrates spatial and channel attentional mechanism modules in a skip connection, enabling the fusion of spatial and channel information. The TSEF block implements enhanced multi-scale fusion of image spatial and sequence temporal features. The sensor that simultaneously perceives bending strain and magnetic field has the potential to detect the finger bending state and hand position of the human and robot. Based on unique magneto-mechanical coupling effect of magnetostrictive materials, the proposed a bi-perceptive flexible sensor, consisting of the Co–Fe film and magnetic sensing plane coils, can realize dual information perception of strain/magnetic field through the change of magnetization state. The ubiquitous presence of electronic devices demands robust hardware security mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information from threats. This paper presents a physical unclonable function (PUF) circuit based on magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM). The circuit utilizes inherent characteristics arising from fabrication variations, specifically magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) cell resistance, to produce corresponding outputs for applied challenges. In contrast to Arbiter PUF, the proposed effectively satisfies the strict avalanche criterion (SAC). Additionally, the grid-like structure of the proposed circuit preserves its resistance against machine learning-based modeling attacks. Various machine learning (ML) attacks employing multilayer perceptron (MLP), linear regression (LR), and support vector machine (SVM) networks are simulated for two-array and four-array architectures. The MLP-attack prediction accuracy was 53.61% for a two-array circuit and 49.87% for a four-array circuit, showcasing robust performance even under the worst-case process variations. In addition, deep learning-based modeling attacks in considerable high dimensions utilizing multiple networks such as convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), MLP, and Larq are used with the accuracy of 50.31%, 50.25%, 50.31%, and 50.31%, respectively. High-energy impacts, like vehicle crashes or falls, can lead to pelvic ring injuries. Rapid diagnosis and treatment are crucial due to the risks of severe bleeding and organ damage. Pelvic radiography promptly assesses fracture extent and location, but struggles to diagnose bleeding. The AO/OTA classification system grades pelvic instability, but its complexity limits its use in emergency settings. This study develops and evaluates a deep learning algorithm to classify pelvic fractures on radiographs per the AO/OTA system. Pelvic radiographs of 773 patients with pelvic fractures and 167 patients without pelvic fractures were retrospectively analyzed at a single center. Pelvic fractures were classified into types A, B, and C using medical records categorized by an orthopedic surgeon according to the AO/OTA classification system. Accuracy, Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), and F1 score were measured to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the deep learning algorithms. The segmentation model showed high performance with 0.98 accuracy and 0.96–0.97 DSC. The AO/OTA classification model demonstrated effective performance with a 0.47–0.80 F1 score and 0.69–0.88 accuracy. Additionally, the classification model had a macro average of 0.77–0.94. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are globally installed in smart cities, which enable the next generation of ITS depending on the potential integration of autonomous and connected vehicles. Both technologies are being tested widely in various cities across the world. However, these two developing technologies are vital in allowing a fully automatic transportation system; it is necessary to automate other transportation and road components. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones are utilized for many surveillance applications in the ITS. Detecting on-ground vehicles in drone images is significant for disaster rescue operations, traffic and parking management, and navigating uneven territories. This study presents a flying foxes optimization with deep learning-based vehicle detection and classification model on aerial images (FFODL-VDCAI) technique for ITS application. The main objective of the FFODL-VDCAI technique is to automate and accurately classify vehicles that exist in aerial images. Three primary processes are involved in the presented FFODL-VDCAI technique. Initially, the FFODL-VDCAI approach utilizes YOLO-GD (Ghost-Net and Depthwise convolution) for vehicle detection, where the YOLO-GD uses lightweight Ghost Net in place on the backbone network of YOLO-v4 and interchanges the conventional convolutional with depthwise separable convolutional and pointwise convolutional. Next, the FFO technique is used for hyperparameter tuning the Ghost Net technique. Finally, a deep Q-network (DQN) based reinforcement learning technique is used to classify detected vehicles effectively. Lung cancer (LC) is a life-threatening and dangerous disease all over the world. However, earlier diagnoses and treatment can save lives. Earlier diagnoses of malevolent cells in the lungs responsible for oxygenating the human body and expelling carbon dioxide due to significant procedures are critical. Even though a computed tomography (CT) scan is the best imaging approach in the healthcare sector, it is challenging for physicians to identify and interpret the tumour from CT scans. Deep learning (DL) for detecting lymph node contribution on histopathological slides has become popular due to its great significance in patient diagnoses and treatment. This study introduces a computer-aided diagnosis for LC by utilizing the Waterwheel Plant Algorithm with DL (CADLC-WWPADL) approach. Although live streaming is indispensable, live-streaming e-business requires accurate and timely sales-volume prediction to ensure a healthy supply–demand balance for companies. Practically, because various factors can significantly impact sales results, the development of a powerful, interpretable model is crucial for accurate sales prediction. In this study, we propose SaleNet, a deep-learning model designed for sales-volume prediction. Our model achieved correct prediction results on our private, real operating data. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of our model's performance fell as low as 11.47% for a + 1.5-days forecast. Even for a 1-week forecast (+ 6 days), the MAPE was only 19.79%, meeting actual business needs and practical requirements. Notably, our model demonstrated robust interpretability, as evidenced by the feature contribution results which are consistent with prevailing research findings and industry expertise. Our findings provided a theoretical foundation for predicting shopping behavior in live-broadcast e-commerce and offered valuable insights for designing live-broadcast content and optimizing the user experience. Alzheimer's Disease (AD) causes slow death in brain cells due to shrinkage of brain cells which is more prevalent in older people. In most cases, the symptoms of AD are mistaken as age-related stresses. The most widely utilized method to detect AD is Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Along with Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, the efficacy of identifying diseases related to the brain has become easier. But, the identical phenotype makes it challenging to identify the disease from the neuro-images. Hence, a deep learning method to detect AD at the beginning stage is suggested in this work. The newly implemented "Enhanced Residual Attention with Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) (ERABi-LNet)" is used in the detection phase to identify the AD from the MRI images. This model is used for enhancing the performance of the Alzheimer's detection in scale of 2–5%, minimizing the error rates, increasing the balance of the model, so that the multi-class problems are supported. At first, MRI images are given to "Residual Attention Network (RAN)", which is specially developed with three convolutional layers, namely atrous, dilated and Depth-Wise Separable (DWS), to obtain the relevant attributes. The most appropriate attributes are determined by these layers, and subjected to target-based fusion. Then the fused attributes are fed into the "Attention-based Bi-LSTM". The final outcome is obtained from this unit. The detection efficiency based on median is 26.37% and accuracy is 97.367% obtained by tuning the parameters in the ERABi-LNet with the help of Modified Search and Rescue Operations (MCDMR-SRO). The obtained results are compared with ROA-ERABi-LNet, EOO-ERABi-LNet, GTBO-ERABi-LNet and SRO-ERABi-LNet respectively. The ERABi_LNet thus provides enhanced accuracy and other performance metrics compared to such deep learning models. The proposed method has the better sensitivity, specificity, F1-Score and False Positive Rate compared with all the above mentioned competing models with values such as 97.49%.97.84%,97.74% and 2.616 respective;y. Stroke, the second leading cause of mortality globally, predominantly results from ischemic conditions. Immediate attention and diagnosis, related to the characterization of brain lesions, play a crucial role in patient prognosis. Standard stroke protocols include an initial evaluation from a non-contrast CT to discriminate between hemorrhage and ischemia. However, non-contrast CTs lack sensitivity in detecting subtle ischemic changes in this phase. Alternatively, diffusion-weighted MRI studies provide enhanced capabilities, yet are constrained by limited availability and higher costs. Hence, we idealize new approaches that integrate ADC stroke lesion findings into CT, to enhance the analysis and accelerate stroke patient management. This study details a public challenge where scientists applied top computational strategies to delineate stroke lesions on CT scans, utilizing paired ADC information. Also, it constitutes the first effort to build a paired dataset with NCCT and ADC studies of acute ischemic stroke patients. Submitted algorithms were validated with respect to the references of two expert radiologists. The best achieved Dice score was 0.2 over a test study with 36 patient studies. In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the field of smart greenhouses, particularly in the application of computer vision and robotics for pollinating flowers. Robotic pollination offers several benefits, including reduced labor requirements and preservation of costly pollen through artificial tomato pollination. However, previous studies have primarily focused on the labeling and detection of tomato flowers alone. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a comprehensive methodology for simultaneously labeling, training, and detecting tomato flowers specifically tailored for robotic pollination. To achieve this, transfer learning techniques were employed using well-known models, namely YOLOv5 and the recently introduced YOLOv8, for tomato flower detection. The performance of both models was evaluated using the same image dataset, and a comparison was made based on their Average Precision (AP) scores to determine the superior model. The results indicated that YOLOv8 achieved a higher mean AP (mAP) of 92.6% in tomato flower and bud detection, outperforming YOLOv5 with 91.2%. Notably, YOLOv8 also demonstrated an inference speed of 0.7 ms when considering an image size of 1920 × 1080 pixels resized to 640 × 640 pixels during detection. The image dataset was acquired during both morning and evening periods to minimize the impact of lighting conditions on the detection model. These findings highlight the potential of YOLOv8 for real-time detection of tomato flowers and buds, enabling further estimation of flower blooming peaks and facilitating robotic pollination. In the context of robotic pollination, the study also focuses on the deployment of the proposed detection model on the 3P2R gantry robot. The study introduces a kinematic model and a modified circuit for the gantry robot. The position-based visual servoing method is employed to approach the detected flower during the pollination process. The global transportation electrification commerce sector is now booming. Stakeholders are paying an increased attention to the integration of electric vehicles and electric buses into the transportation networks. As a result, there is an urgent need to invest in public charging infrastructure, particularly for fast charging facilities. Consequently, and to complete the portfolio of the green environment, these fast-charging stations (FCSs) are designed using 100% of renewable energy sources (RESs). Thus, this paper proposes an optimization model for the techno-economic assessment of FCSs comprising photovoltaic and wind turbines with various energy storage devices (ESDs). In this regard, the FCS performance is evaluated using flywheels and super capacitors due to their high-power density and charging/discharging cycles and rates. Then, optimal sizing of these distributed generators is attained considering diverse technical and economical key performance indicators. Afterwards, the problem gets more sophisticated by investigating the effect of RES's uncertainties on the selection criterion of the FCS's components, design and capacity. Skin cancer (SC) is an important medical condition that necessitates prompt identification to ensure timely treatment. Although visual evaluation by dermatologists is considered the most reliable method, its efficacy is subjective and laborious. Deep learning-based computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) platforms have become valuable tools for supporting dermatologists. Nevertheless, current CAD tools frequently depend on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with huge amounts of deep layers and hyperparameters, single CNN model methodologies, large feature space, and exclusively utilise spatial image information, which restricts their effectiveness. This study presents SCaLiNG, an innovative CAD tool specifically developed to address and surpass these constraints. SCaLiNG leverages a collection of three compact CNNs and Gabor Wavelets (GW) to acquire a comprehensive feature vector consisting of spatial–textural–frequency attributes. SCaLiNG gathers a wide range of image details by breaking down these photos into multiple directional sub-bands using GW, and then learning several CNNs using those sub-bands and the original picture. SCaLiNG also combines attributes taken from various CNNs trained with the actual images and subbands derived from GW. This fusion process correspondingly improves diagnostic accuracy due to the thorough representation of attributes. Furthermore, SCaLiNG applies a feature selection approach which further enhances the model's performance by choosing the most distinguishing features. Experimental findings indicate that SCaLiNG maintains a classification accuracy of 0.9170 in categorising SC subcategories, surpassing conventional single-CNN models. With the 5G and the popularity of high-definition and ultrahigh-definition equipment, people have increasingly higher requirements for the resolution of images or videos. However, the transmission pressure on servers is also gradually increasing. Therefore, superresolution technology has attracted much attention in recent years. Simultaneously, with the further development of deep learning techniques, superresolution research is shifting from the calculation of traditional algorithms to the deep learning method, which exhibits a greatly superior final display. First, the traditional block-matching-3D (BM3D) algorithm is formed as the postprocessing module, which can avoid the uneven edge of GAN network recovery, make the picture appear more authentic, and improve the viewer's subjective feelings. With the approval of the first two substances for the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a standardized monitoring of patients treated with complement inhibitors in clinical practice is needed. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides high-resolution access to the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and neurosensory layers, such as the ellipsoid zone (EZ), which further enhances the understanding of disease progression and therapeutic effects in GA compared to conventional fundus autofluorescence (FAF). In addition, artificial intelligence-based methodology allows the identification and quantification of GA-related pathology on OCT in an objective and standardized manner. The purpose of this study was to comprehensively evaluate automated OCT monitoring for GA compared to reading center-based manual FAF measurements in the largest successful phase 3 clinical trial data of complement inhibitor therapy to date. Automated OCT analysis of RPE loss showed a high and consistent correlation to manual GA measurements on conventional FAF. EZ loss on OCT was generally larger than areas of RPE loss, supporting the hypothesis that EZ loss exceeds underlying RPE loss as a fundamental pathophysiology in GA progression. High-quality standard views in two-dimensional echocardiography are essential for accurate cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment decisions. However, the quality of echocardiographic images is highly dependent on the practitioner's experience. Ensuring timely quality control of echocardiographic images in the clinical setting remains a significant challenge. In this study, we aimed to propose new quality assessment criteria and develop a multi-task deep learning model for real-time multi-view classification and image quality assessment (six standard views and "others"). A total of 170,311 echocardiographic images collected between 2015 and 2022 were utilized to develop and evaluate the model. On the test set, the model achieved an overall classification accuracy of 97.8% (95%CI 97.7–98.0) and a mean absolute error of 6.54 (95%CI 6.43–6.66). A single-frame inference time of 2.8 ms was achieved, meeting real-time requirements. We also analyzed pre-stored images from three distinct groups of echocardiographers (junior, senior, and expert) to evaluate the clinical feasibility of the model. Our multi-task model can provide objective, reproducible, and clinically significant view quality assessment results for echocardiographic images, potentially optimizing the clinical image acquisition process and improving AI-assisted diagnosis accuracy. The predominant categories of cancer that may affect males and females and occur worldwide are colon and lung cancer. A precise and on-time analysis of this cancer can increase the survival rate and improve the appropriate treatment characteristics. An efficient and effective method for the speedy and accurate recognition of tumours in the colon and lung areas is provided as an alternative to cancer recognition methods. Earlier diagnosis of the disease on the front drastically reduces the chance of death. Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) approaches can accelerate this cancer diagnosis, facilitating researcher workers to study a vast majority of patients in a limited period and at a low cost. This research presents Histopathological Imaging for the Early Detection of Lung and Colon Cancer via Ensemble DL (HIELCC-EDL) model. The HIELCC-EDL technique utilizes histopathological images to identify lung and colon cancer (LCC). To achieve this, the HIELCC-EDL technique uses the Wiener filtering (WF) method for noise elimination. In addition, the HIELCC-EDL model uses the channel attention Residual Network (CA-ResNet50) model for learning complex feature patterns. Moreover, the hyperparameter selection of the CA-ResNet50 model is performed using the tuna swarm optimization (TSO) technique. Finally, the detection of LCC is achieved by using the ensemble of three classifiers such as extreme learning machine (ELM), competitive neural networks (CNNs), and long short-term memory (LSTM). To illustrate the promising performance of the HIELCC-EDL model, a complete set of experimentations was performed on a benchmark dataset. Dysphagia, a disorder affecting the ability to swallow, has a high prevalence among the older adults and can lead to serious health complications. Therefore, early detection of dysphagia is important. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a newly developed deep learning model that analyzes syllable-segmented data for diagnosing dysphagia, an aspect not addressed in prior studies. The audio data of daily conversations were collected from 16 patients with dysphagia and 24 controls. The presence of dysphagia was determined by videofluoroscopic swallowing study. The data were segmented into syllables using a speech-to-text model and analyzed with a convolutional neural network to perform binary classification between the dysphagia patients and control group. The proposed model in this study was assessed in two different aspects. Firstly, with syllable-segmented analysis, it demonstrated a diagnostic accuracy of 0.794 for dysphagia, a sensitivity of 0.901, a specificity of 0.687, a positive predictive value of 0.742, and a negative predictive value of 0.874. Secondly, at the individual level, it achieved an overall accuracy of 0.900 and area under the curve of 0.953. Glaucoma is a group of neurodegenerative diseases that can lead to irreversible blindness. Yet, the progression can be slowed down if diagnosed and treated early enough. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) can non-invasively provide valuable information about the retinal microcirculation that has shown to be correlated with the onset of the disease. The vessel density (VD) is the most commonly used biomarker to quantify this vascular information. However, different studies showed that there is a great impact of the acquisition area on the performance of the VD to distinguish between glaucoma patients and a healthy control group. It also seems that the separate capillary plexuses are differently affected by the disease and therefore also influence the results. So in this study we investigate the impact of the acquisition area (3 × 3 mm macular scan, 6.44 × 6.4 mm macular scan, 6 × 6 mm optic nerve head (ONH) scan) and the different plexuses on the machine-learning-based distinction between glaucoma patients and healthy controls. The results yielded that the 6 × 6 mm ONH show the best performance over all plexuses. Moreover the deep learning-based approach outperforms the VD as a biomarker on every acquisition area and plexus. In addition to that, it also performs better than traditional biomarkers obtained from the OCT scans that are used in the clinical routine for diagnosis and progression tracking of glaucoma. This study investigates olfaction, a complex and not well-understood sensory modality. The chemical mechanism behind smell can be described by so far proposed two theories: vibrational and docking theories. The vibrational theory has been gaining acceptance lately but needs more extensive validation. To fill this gap for the first time, we, with the help of data-driven classification, clustering, and Explainable AI techniques, systematically analyze a large dataset of vibrational spectra (VS) of 3018 molecules obtained from the atomistic simulation. The study utlizes image representations of VS using Gramian Angular Fields and Markov Transition Fields, allowing computer vision techniques to be applied for better feature extraction and improved odor classification. Furthermore, we fuse the PCA-reduced fingerprint features with image features, which show additional improvement in classification results. We use two clustering methods, agglomerative hierarchical (AHC) and k-means, on dimensionality reduced (UMAP, MDS, t-SNE, and PCA) VS and image features, which shed further insight into the connections between molecular structure, VS, and odor. Additionally, we contrast our method with an earlier work that employed traditional machine learning on fingerprint features for the same dataset, and demonstrate that even with a representative subset of 3018 molecules, our deep learning model outperforms previous results. This comprehensive and systematic analysis highlights the potential of deep learning in furthering the field of olfactory research while confirming the vibrational theory of olfaction. A green building (GB) is a design idea that integrates environmentally conscious technology and sustainable procedures throughout the building's life cycle. However, because different green requirements and performances are integrated into the building design, the GB design procedure typically takes longer than conventional structures. Machine learning (ML) and other advanced artificial intelligence (AI), such as DL techniques, are frequently utilized to assist designers in completing their work more quickly and precisely. Therefore, this study aims to develop a GB design predictive model utilizing ML and DL techniques to optimize resource consumption, improve occupant comfort, and lessen the environmental effect of the built environment of the GB design process. A dataset ASHARE-884 is applied to the suggested models. An Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) is applied, which involves cleaning, sorting, and converting the category data into numerical values utilizing label encoding. In data preprocessing, the Z-Score normalization technique is applied to normalize the data. After data analysis and preprocessing, preprocessed data is used as input for Machine learning (ML) such as RF, DT, and Extreme GB, and Stacking and Deep Learning (DL) such as GNN, LSTM, and RNN techniques for green building design to enhance environmental sustainability by addressing different criteria of the GB design process. The performance of the proposed models is assessed using different evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score. The experiment results indicate that the proposed GNN and LSTM models function more accurately and efficiently than conventional DL techniques for environmental sustainability in green buildings. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is diagnosed using comprehensive behavioral information. Neuroimaging offers additional information but lacks clinical utility for diagnosis. This study investigates whether multi-forms of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast can be used individually and in combination to produce a categorical classification of young individuals with ASD. MRI data were accessed from the Autism Brain Imaging Data Exchange (ABIDE). Young participants (ages 2–30) were selected, and two group cohorts consisted of 702 participants: 351 ASD and 351 controls. Image-based classification was performed using one-channel and two-channel inputs to 3D-DenseNet deep learning networks. The models were trained and tested using tenfold cross-validation. Two-channel models were twinned with combinations of structural MRI (sMRI) maps and amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) or fractional ALFF (fALFF) maps from resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI). All models produced classification accuracy that exceeded 65.1%. The two-channel ALFF-sMRI model achieved the highest mean accuracy of 76.9% ± 2.34. The one-channel ALFF-based model alone had mean accuracy of 72% ± 3.1. This study leveraged the ABIDE dataset to produce ASD classification results that are comparable and/or exceed literature values. The primary purpose of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), a non-invasive medical therapy, is to precisely target and ablate tumors by focusing high-frequency ultrasound from an external power source. A series of ablations must be performed in order to treat a big volume of tumors, as a single ablation can only remove a small amount of tissue. To maximize therapeutic efficacy while minimizing adverse side effects such as skin burns, preoperative treatment planning is essential in determining the focal site and sonication duration for each ablation. Here, we introduce a machine learning-based approach for designing HIFU treatment plans, which makes use of a map of the material characteristics unique to a patient alongside an accurate thermal simulation. A numerical model was employed to solve the governing equations of HIFU process and to simulate the HIFU absorption mechanism, including ensuing heat transfer process and the temperature rise during the sonication period. To validate the accuracy of this numerical model, a series of tests was conducted using ex vivo bovine liver. The findings indicate that the developed models properly represent the considerable variances observed in tumor geometrical shapes and proficiently generate well-defined closed treated regions based on imaging data. The proposed strategy facilitated the formulation of high-quality treatment plans, with an average tissue over- or under-treatment rate of less than 0.06%. The efficacy of the numerical model in accurately predicting the heating process of HIFU, when combined with machine learning techniques, was validated through quantitative comparison with experimental data. Effectively assessing the realism and naturalness of images in virtual (VR) and augmented (AR) reality applications requires Full Reference Image Quality Assessment (FR-IQA) metrics that closely align with human perception. Deep learning-based IQAs that are trained on human-labeled data have recently shown promise in generic computer vision tasks. However, their performance decreases in applications where perfect matches between the reference and the distorted images should not be expected, or whenever distortion patterns are restricted to specific domains. Tackling this issue necessitates training a task-specific neural network, yet generating human-labeled FR-IQAs is costly, and deep learning typically demands substantial labeled data. To address these challenges, we developed ConIQA, a deep learning-based IQA that leverages consistency training and a novel data augmentation method to learn from both labeled and unlabeled data. This makes ConIQA well-suited for contexts with scarce labeled data. To validate ConIQA, we considered the example application of Computer-Generated Holography (CGH) where specific artifacts such as ringing, speckle, and quantization errors routinely occur, yet are not explicitly accounted for by existing IQAs. We developed a new dataset, HQA1k, that comprises 1000 natural images each paired with an image rendered using various popular CGH algorithms, and quality-rated by thirteen human participants. Our results show that ConIQA achieves superior Pearson (0.98), Spearman (0.965), and Kendall's tau (0.86) correlations over fifteen FR-IQA metrics by up to 5%, showcasing significant improvements in aligning with human perception on the HQA1k dataset. This study aimed to establish a deep learning-based predictive model for the prognosis of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). Data from 1108 patients with SSNHL between January 2015 and May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients underwent standardized treatment protocols including high-dose steroid therapy and hearing outcomes were assessed after three months using Siegel's criteria and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) classification. For predicting patient recovery, a two-layered classification process was implemented. Initially, a set of 22 Multilayer Perceptrons (MLP) networks was employed to categorize the patients. The outcomes from this initial categorization were subsequently relayed to a second-layer meta-classifier for final prognosis determination. The validity of this methodology was ascertained through a K-fold cross-validation procedure executed with 10 distinct splits. The prediction model for complete recovery, based on Siegel's criteria, demonstrated an accuracy of 0.892 and area under the curve (AUC) of 0.922. For the class A prediction, according to AAO-HNS classification, the model showed an accuracy of 0.847 and AUC of 0.918. These results suggest that the model may have the potential to contribute to the establishment of tailored patient management strategies by predicting hearing recovery in patients with SSNHL. Computer-aided diagnosis has been slow to develop in the field of oral ulcers. One of the major reasons for this is the lack of publicly available datasets. However, oral ulcers have cancerous lesions and their mortality rate is high. The ability to recognize oral ulcers at an early stage in a timely and effective manner is a very critical issue. In recent years, although there exists a small group of researchers working on these, the datasets are private. Therefore to address this challenge, in this paper a multi-tasking oral ulcer dataset (Autooral) containing two major tasks of lesion segmentation and classification is proposed and made publicly available. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first team to make publicly available an oral ulcer dataset with multi-tasking. In addition, we propose a novel modeling framework, HF-UNet, for segmenting oral ulcer lesion regions. Specifically, the proposed high-order focus interaction module (HFblock) performs acquisition of global properties and focus for acquisition of local properties through high-order attention. The proposed lesion localization module (LL-M) employs a novel hybrid sobel filter, which improves the recognition of ulcer edges. Experimental results on the proposed Autooral dataset show that our proposed HF-UNet segmentation of oral ulcers achieves a DSC value of about 0.80 and the inference memory occupies only 2029 MB. The proposed method guarantees a low running load while maintaining a high-performance segmentation capability.
