Up-converting nanoparticles can be a demand for requirements in many areas, including bioimaging and conversion of energy, but also in the battle against counterfeiting. The properties of lanthanide ions make falsification difficult or even impossible using appropriately designed systems. The proposition of such an approach is the NaErF4:Tm3+@NaYF4 core@shell up-converting nanoparticles combined with transparent varnishes. Given the spectroscopic properties of Er3+ ions present in the fluoride matrix, the obtained up-converting nanoparticles absorb light by 808 and 975 nm wavelengths. The intentionally co-doped Tm3+ ions enable tuning characteristic green Er3+ emission to red luminescence, particularly desirable in anti-counterfeiting applications. The article includes a thorough analysis of structural and morphological properties. Moreover, this work shows that exclusive luminescent properties of NaErF4:Tm3+@NaYF4 NPs can be given to the transparent varnish, providing an excellent anti-counterfeiting system, revealing red emission under two different excitation wavelengths. Bacterial infectious diseases are serious health problem which extends to economic and social complications. Moreover, bacterial antibiotic resistance, lack of suitable vaccine or emergence of new mutations is forcing the development of novel antimicrobial agents. The objective of this study is to synthesize and characterize star-like zinc oxide nanoparticles for the application of antibacterial activities in cellulose based hygiene products. ZnO NPs were in situ synthesized via precipitation method on the surface of cellulose fibers. Since bactericidal activity of nanoparticles in part depends on the concentration in the growth medium, various amount of ZnO was incorporated into cellulose matrix ranging from 1 to 3 wt%. Microscopic (TEM, SEM) and spectroscopic (FT-IR, XRD) methods were utilized to investigate the final products. The infrared absorption spectra analysis supported by theoretical finding that during the reaction, ZnO nanoparticles could be bonded with cellulose fibers via hydrogen bonding. The yield of functionalization was determined through thermogravimetric analysis. Collected data proved the successful functionalization of the cellulose fibers with nanoparticles. Static contact angle measurements were carried out showing absorptive character of as prepared fabrics. All the samples were tested for the antibacterial properties and the results were compared to the samples prepared from the pristine cellulose fibers. Moreover, mechanical tests were performed revealing that the addition of only 2 wt% of the nanofiller boosted tensile, tearing and bursting strength by a factor of 1.6, 1.4 and 2.2 in comparison to unfunctionalized paper sample, respectively. Fabricated fabric presenting high hydrophilicity and antibacterial properties have gained increased applications in fabric industry, including hygiene product industry and hence the result of this study would be a welcomed option. Carbon materials play important roles as catalysts or catalyst supports for reduction reactions owing to their high porosity, large specific surface area, great electron conductivity, and excellent chemical stability. In this paper, a mesoporous N-doped carbon substrate (exhibited as N–C) has been synthesized by ionothermal carbonization of glucose in the presence of histidine. The N–C substrate was modified by Fe3O4 nanoparticles (N–C/Fe3O4), and then Pd nanoparticles were stabilized on the magnetic substrate to synthesize an eco-friendly Pd catalyst with high efficiency, magnetic, reusability, recoverability, and great stability. To characterize the Pd/Fe3O4–N–C nanocatalyst, different microscopic and spectroscopic methods such as FT-IR, XRD, SEM/EDX, and TEM were applied. Moreover, Pd/Fe3O4–N–C showed high catalytic activity in reducing nitroaromatic compounds in water at ambient temperatures when NaBH4 was used as a reducing agent. The provided nanocatalyst's great catalytic durability and power can be attributed to the synergetic interaction among well-dispersed Pd nanoparticles and N-doped carbonaceous support. The significance of fuzzy volume percentage on the unsteady flow of MHD tangent hyperbolic fuzzy hybrid nanofluid towards an exponentially stretched surface is scrutinized. The heat transport mechanism is classified by Joule heating, nonlinear thermal radiation, boundary slippage, and convective circumstances. Ethylene glycol (EG) as a host fluid along with the nanomaterial's Cu and Al 2 O 3 are used for heat transfer analysis is also considered in this investigation. The nonlinear governing PDEs are meant to be converted into ODEs employing appropriate renovations. Then, a built-in MATLAB program bvp4c is employed to acquire the outcome of the given problem. The variation of flow rate, thermal heat, drag force and Nusselt number and their influence on fluid flow with heat transfer have been scrutinized through graphs. An increase in thermal radiation, power law index and nanoparticle volume friction heightens the heat transmission rate. Skin friction is diminished by swelling the power-law index, Weissenberg number, and ratio parameters, whereas it is increased by enhancing the magnetic parameter. The heat transfer rate upsurges with an increase in Weissenberg number and nanoparticle volume fraction. Also, the nanoparticle volume percentage is expressed as a triangular fuzzy number (TFN). The triangular membership function (MF) and TFN are regulated by the χ - cut parameter, which has a range of 0 to 1. In comparison to nanofluids, hybrid nanofluids have a higher heat transmission rate, according to the fuzzy analysis. This paper introduces a unique and simple method for fabricating of inexpensive electrocatalysts for use in direct methanol fuel cells. The leached Fe1–Pd1 NFs/graphite (leached Fe1–Pd1/graphite) disk electrode was successfully obtained via uniform dispersion of Zn powder into the matrix of commercial graphite powder (98%), pressing under optimized pressure followed by the treatment in H2SO4 solution containing Fe+2 and Pd+2 cations, leading to the partial leaching out of Zn from graphite matrix, as well as partial electroless substitution of Fe–Pd nanoflakes with Zn metal. Based on the morphology studies, binary Fe–Pd nanoflakes with a large surface area uniformly dispersed on the leached graphite disk. The leached Fe–Pd/G disk showed the exceptional electrocatalytic activity toward methanol and formic acid oxidation without electrocatalyst poisoning being observed, in contrast to the leached Pd/graphite and leached Fe/graphite disks. This is due to the high surface area, and synergistic effect of Pd and Fe. The findings of this work may be used for the mass manufacture of graphite-based disks for commercial fuel cell applications using available graphite powders. The linear range of washed Fe1–Pd1/G electrocatalyst for measuring methanol was about 0.1–1.3 M, and its detection limit was calculated at about 0.03 M. Wound healing is one of the most challenging medical circumstances for patients. Pathogens can infect wounds, resulting in tissue damage, inflammation, and disruption of the healing process. Simvastatin was investigated recently, as a wound healing agent that may supersede the present therapies for wounds. Our goal in this paper is to focus on formulation of simvastatin cubosomes for topical delivery, as a potential approach to improve simvastatin skin permeation. By this technique its wound healing effect could be improved. Cubosomes were prepared using the top-down method and the prepared cubosomes were characterized by several techniques. The most optimal simvastatin cubosomal formulation was then included in a cubogel dosage form using different gelling agents. The results showed that the average particle size of the prepared cubosomes was 113.90 ± 0.58 nm, the entrapment efficiency was 93.95 ± 0.49% and a sustained simvastatin release was achieved. The optimized formula of simvastatin cubogel displayed pseudoplastic rheological behavior. This same formula achieved enhancement in drug permeation through excised rat skin compared to free simvastatin hydrogel with flux values of 46.18 ± 2.12 mcg cm−2 h−1 and 25.92 ± 3.45 mcg cm−2 h−1 respectively. A main challenge in Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording technology is the build-up of contaminants called smear on the near field transducer. In this paper, we investigate the role of optical forces originating from the electric field gradient in the formation of smear. First, based on suitable theoretical approximations, we compare this force with air drag and the thermophoretic force in the head-disk interface for two smear nanoparticle shapes. Then, we evaluate the force field's sensitivity to the relevant parameter space. We find that the smear nanoparticle's refractive index, shape, and volume significantly impact the optical force. Further, our simulations reveal that the interface conditions, such as spacing and the presence of other contaminants, also influence the magnitude of the force. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The preparation and design of nano-catalysts based on magnetic biopolymers as green and biocompatible nano-catalysts have made many advances. This paper deals with the preparation of magnetite biopolymer-based Brønsted base nano-catalyst from a nano-almond (Prunus dulcis) shell. This magnetite biopolymer-based nano-catalyst was obtained through a simple process based on the core-shelling of nano-almond shell and Fe3O4 NPs and then the immobilization of 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane as linker and 2-aminoethylpiperazine as a basic section. Structural and morphological analysis of this magnetite biopolymer-based nano-catalyst were done using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Thermogravimetric analysis, Vibrating sample magnetization, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, and Transmission electron microscopy techniques. The performance of the synthesized Fe3O4@nano-almondshell/Si(CH2)3/2-(1-piperazinyl)ethylamine as a novel magnetite biopolymer-based nano-catalyst for the synthesis of dihydropyrano[3,2-c]chromene and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran was investigated and showed excellent efficiency. In the current scenario, scaling up the microbial production of nanoparticles with diverse biological applications is an emerging prospect for NPs' sustainable industry. Thus, this paper was conducted to develop a suitable applicative process for the myco-fabrication of cobalt-ferrite (CoFeNPs), selenium (SeNPs), and zinc oxide (ZnONPs) nanoparticles. A strain improvement program using gamma irradiation mutagenesis was applied to improve the NPs-producing ability of the fungal strains. The achieved yields of CoFeNPs, SeNPs, and ZnONPs were intensified by a 14.47, 7.85, and 22.25-fold increase from the initial yield following gamma irradiation and isolation of stable mutant strains. The myco-fabricated CoFeNPs, SeNPs, and ZnONPs were then exploited to study their wound healing, and anti-inflammatory. In addition, the acetylcholinesterase inhibition activities of the myco-fabricated NPs were evaluated and analyzed by molecular docking. The obtained results confirmed the promising wound healing, anti-inflammatory, and acetylcholinesterase inhibition potentials of the three types of NPs. In this paper, we report the synthesis of ZnFe2O4@SiO2@APTES@DHBS-Cu as a novel magnetic nanocatalyst, in a mild and green environment. The structure of the described magnetic compound was characterized by different physicochemical techniques including XRD, EDS, AAS, SEM, FT-IR, X-ray elemental mapping, TGA, and VSM analyses. The prepared magnetic nanoparticles exhibit excellent catalytic activity in synthesizing bis (pyrazolyl)methanes and oxidation of sulfide derivatives under green conditions. The heterogeneous nature of the catalyst was confirmed via the hot filtration experiment. The aggregation of variably charged nanoparticles is usually induced by the changes in internal and external conditions, such as solution temperature, pH, particle size, van der Waals force, and electrostatic repulsion among particles. In order to explore the effect of pH on the aggregation of variable charge nanoparticles, this paper proposed an extended model based on the 3D on-lattice Cluster–Cluster Aggregation (CCA) model. The extended model successfully established the relationship between pH and sticking probability, and used Smoluchowski theory to calculate the aggregation rate of nanoparticles. The simulation results showed that: (1) the change of the aggregation rate of the variable charge nanoparticles with pH conforms to the Gaussian distribution, (2) the initial particle concentration has a significant effect on the aggregation rate of the nanoparticles, and (3) pH can affect the competition between van der Waals force and electrostatic repulsion between particles, thereby affecting the degree of openness of clusters. The research demonstrated the extended CCA model is valuable in studying the aggregation of the variably charged nanoparticles via transforming the corresponding influence factors into the influence on the sticking probability. In this paper, a graphene-coated dielectric hole array is used to design a reconfigurable switchable optical reflector/absorber device. The design benefits from the collective excitation of localized surface plasmon resonances of graphene-coated hole array, providing simpler fabrication fellow and more compact structure with respect to graphene-coated spherical nanoparticle array with similar plasmonic behavior. Geometrical parametric study of the reflecting mode shows that the device has lots of degrees of freedom for spectrum tuning and can highly tolerate fabrication imperfections. Moreover, the reflection rate is slightly affected by the dielectric substrate height, which can be tuned to achieve strong absorption by backing it with a metallic mirror. The designed absorber efficiently captures a wide range of obliquely incident transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) waves. Also, the operating frequency of both reflecting and absorbing modes can be tuned after fabrication, thanks to the two-dimensional nature of graphene material. The paper deals with the gas-phase formation of nanoparticles that is a fundamental process responsible for the condensed matter in the Universe, which also attracts attention due to its involvement in the particle synthesis for various nanotechnology applications. Previously reported results on MgO nano-oxides formed by Mg combustion showed a unique phenomenon coined "the condensation stagnation" that is the occurrence of critical clusters with suppressed growth. Here we focus on the effect of an external ionizer on this condensation growth stagnation. We show that the condensation stagnation occurring in the Mg particle flame subjected to a positive ion flux is similar to that in the unaffected flame. In contrast, applying negative charging significantly influences the state of stagnation of the system, i.e., no critical clusters are observed in the products sampled from the flame. The discovered critical behavior of the state of stagnation is explained in terms of the heat transfer between the condensed MgO nanoparticles and the surrounding gas, which efficiency depends on the sign of the nanoparticle charge. This dependence of the heat transfer efficiency on the nanoparticle charge is a new fundamental effect that should become the basis for accurate modeling in two-phase high-temperature systems. Nano-lubricants offer improved tribological properties in many applications, such as machines and engines. The presence of nanoparticles in the lubricating oil affects its wear, friction, thermal, chemical and physical properties in many ways. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a promising lubricant additive for enhanced engine efficiency. This article reports the effect of 10 W-30 pure base engine oil suspended TiO2 nanoparticles. Four different volume concentrations (0.01%, 0.025%, 0.050% and 0.075%) of TiO2 nanoparticles in the base lubricating oil are used for the analysis. The tribological tests were performed at ambient temperature as well as at 75 °C using a four ball tribometer. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Alicona Inginite Focus G5 microscope were used to analyze the worn surface. The results show that the surface-modified TiO2 nanoparticles can remarkably improve the load-carrying capacity, the friction reducing, and anti-wear abilities of the additive oil. The diameter of the wear trace and the coefficient of friction are the tribological properties analyzed for the nano-lubricant prepared at different volume concentration (VC). It was found that the diameter of the wear scar and the coefficient of friction increase with increasing VC of TiO2 nanoparticles in the lubricating oil. The refrigerant circulation heat can be enhanced through the mutual transformation between thermal energy and surface energy during the adsorption and separation process of fluid molecules in porous materials. In this paper, the adsorption and energy storage of R1234ze(z), R1234yf, R32 and R134a, as well as their mixed refrigerants in Mg-MOF-74 and Ni-MOF-74 nanoparticles were investigated by means of molecular dynamics simulations and grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations. The results suggested that, in the case of pure refrigerant adsorption, the adsorption quantities of R32 and R134a in MOFs were higher than those of R1234yf and R1234ze(z). However, in the case of saturation adsorption, the desorption heat of R32 was lower than that of R1234yf and R1234ze(z). The addition of MOF-74 nanoparticles (NPs) could enhance the energy storage capacity of the pure refrigerant; besides, R1234yf and R1234ze(z) nanofluids had superior enhancement effect to that of R32 nanofluid. In mixed refrigerant adsorption, the adsorption quantities of R1234ze(z) and R1234yf were lower than those of R32 and R134a; with the increase in temperature, the adsorption of R1234ze(z) and R1234yf showed a gradually increasing trend, while that of R32 was gradually decreased. Effective analysis of pathogens causing human and veterinary diseases demands rapid, specific and sensitive detection methods which can be applied in research laboratory setups and in field for routine diagnosis. Paper lateral flow biosensors (LFBs) have been established as attractive tools for such analytical applications. In the present study a prototype LFB was designed for whole particles (virions) detection of nodavirus or fish nervous necrosis virus. Nodavirus is an important threat in the aquaculture industry, causing severe economic losses and environmental problems. The LFB was based on polyclonal antibodies conjugated on gold nanoparticles for signal visualization. Brain and retinas from fish samples were homogenized, centrifuged and the supernatant was directly applied on the LFB. Formation of a red test line was indicative of nodavirus virions presence. Nodavirus visual detection was completed in short time (30 min). Key factors of the LFB development influencing the assays' detection limit were characterized and the optimum parameters were determined, enabling increased efficiency, excluding non-specific interactions. Therefore, the proposed LFB assay consists a robust, simple, low cost and accurate method for detection of nodavirus virions in fish samples. The proposed biosensor is ideal for development of a commercial kit to be used on aquaculture facilities by fish farmers. Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to study thermal properties of bulk iron material and Fe nanoparticles (FNP) by using a ReaxFF reactive force field. Thermodynamic and energy properties such as radial distribution function, Lindemann index and potential energy plots are adopted to study the melting behaviors of FNPs from 300 K to 2500 K. A step-heating method is introduced to obtain equilibrium melting points. Our results show ReaxFF force field is able to detect size effect in FNP melting no matter in energy or structure evolution aspect. Extra storage energy of FNPs caused by defects (0%-10%) is firstly studied in this paper: defects will not affect the melting point of FNPs directly but increase the system energy especially when temperature reaches the melting points. Nanoparticles have been claimed to contribute efficiently to e.g. the mechanical strength of composite materials when present as individual particles. However, these particles tend to aggregate. In this paper we prepare nanocrystals from chitin, a product with high potential added value for application in bio-based materials, and investigate the effect of ultrasound on de-aggregation. Chitin nanocrystals with a length ~ 200 nm and a diameter ~ 15 nm, were obtained via acid hydrolysis of crude chitin powder. Freeze drying resulted in severe aggregation and after redispersion sizes up to ~ 200 µm were found. Ultrasound treatment was applied and break up behaviour was investigated using static light scattering, dynamic light scattering, and laser diffraction. Our results suggest that the cumulative energy input was the dominant factor for chitin nanocrystal aggregate breakup. When a critical energy barrier of ~ 100 kJ/g chitin nanocrystals was exceeded, the chitin nanocrystal aggregates broke down to nanometre range. The break up was mostly a result of fragmentation: the aggregation energy of chitin nanocrystal aggregates was quantified to be ~ 370 kJ/g chitin nanocrystals and we hypothesize that mainly van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonds are responsible for aggregation. This paper describes the amounts and size distributions of amorphous nanoparticles in clays, soils and marine sediments, and the effect of amorphous nanoparticles on the properties of clays, soils and marine sediments. So far aluminum–silicate amorphous nanoparticles such as allophane were observed only in soils of volcanic origin with a transmission electron microscope, and thus most people believed that aluminum–silicate amorphous nanoparticles were present only in soils of special origin. Recently, a method has been devised to quantify amorphous nanoparticles by using small angle X-ray scattering intensity. Using the method, we have quantified amorphous nanoparticles in clays, soils and marine sediments, and have found that all clays, soils and marine sediments measured in this study contain large amounts of amorphous nanoparticles. On the basis of this result, we have concluded that large amounts of amorphous nanoparticles are ubiquitously formed from rocks when the rocks are weathered or altered. We have also found that the amorphous nanoparticles affect the properties of clays, such as adsorption properties and plasticity. A method to monitor the length of a particle bunch, based on the combination of a Radio Frequency Deflector (RFD) with magnetic focusing elements, is presented. With respect to state-of-the-art bunch length measurement, the additional focusing element allows to measure also the correlations between the longitudinal and transverse planes in terms of both position and divergence. Furthermore, the quadrupole-based focusing increases the input dynamic range of the measurement system (i.e. allows for a larger range of beam Twiss parameters at the entrance of the RFD). Thus, measurement resolution and precision are enhanced, by simultaneously preserving the accuracy. In this paper, the method is first introduced analytically, and then validated in simulation, by the reference tool ELEctron Generation ANd Tracking, ELEGANT. This paper explores gold nanoparticle (GNP) modified copper oxide nanowires(CuO NWs)based electrode grown on copper foil for non-enzymatic glucose detection in a wide linear ranging up to 31.06 mM, and 44.36 mM at 0.5 M NaOH and 1 M NaOH concentrations. The proposed electrode can be used to detect a very low glucose concentration of 0.3 µM with a high linearity range of 44.36mM and sensitivity of 1591.44 µA mM−1 cm−2. The electrode is fabricated by first synthesizing Cu (OH)2 NWs on a copper foil by chemical etching method and then heat treatment is performed to convert Cu (OH)2 NWs into CuO NWs. The GNPs are deposited on CuO NWs to enhance the effective surface-to-volume ratio of the electrode with improved catalytic activity. The surface morphology has been investigated by XRD, XPS, FE-SEM and HR-TEM analysis. The proposed sensor is expected to detect low-level of glucose in urine, and saliva. At the same time, it can also be used to measure extremely high sugar levels (i.e. hyperglycemia) of ~ 806.5454 mg/dl. The proposed sensor is also capable of detecting glucose after multiple bending of the GNP modified CuO NWs electrode. Development of plant based nanoparticles has many advantages over conventional physico-chemical methods and has various applications in medicine and biology. In present study, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using leaf extracts of two medicinal plants Cassia fistula and Melia azadarach. 0.01 M zinc acetate dihydrate was used as a precursor in leaf extracts of respective plants for NPs synthesis. The structural and optical properties of NPs were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV-Vis) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The antibacterial potential of ZnO NPs was examined by paper disc diffusion method against two clinical strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) based on the zone of inhibition and minimal inhibitory indices (MIC). Change in color of the reaction mixture from brown to white indicated the formation of ZnO NPs. UV peaks at 320 nm and 324 nm, and XRD pattern matching that of JCPDS card for ZnO confirmed the presence of pure ZnO NPs. FTIR further confirmed the presence of bioactive functional groups involved in the reduction of bulk zinc acetate to ZnO NPs. SEM analysis displayed the shape of NPs to be spherical whereas DLS showed their size range from 3 to 68 nm. The C. fistula and M. azadarach mediated ZnO NPs showed strong antimicrobial activity against clinical pathogens compared to standard drugs, suggesting that plant based synthesis of NPs can be an excellent strategy to develop versatile and eco-friendly biomedical products. Surface enhanced absorption is a plasmonic effect parenting to surface enhanced fluorescence and Raman scattering, and it was clearly reported to occur in the infrared region of the spectrum of light. In this paper, we unambiguously show that it also occurs in the visible region of the spectrum by using a dye; i.e. an azo-dye, which exhibits a good light absorption in that region, and gold nanoparticles, which act as plasmonic nanoantennas that capture and re-radiate light, when the azo-dyes and the nanoparticles are incorporated in the bulk of solid films of polymer. In such a configuration, it is possible to use a dye concentration much larger than that of the nanoparticles and absorption path lengths much larger than those of the molecularly thin layers used in surface enhanced effects studies. In addition, the dye undergoes shape and orientation change; i.e. isomerization and reorientation, upon polarized light absorption; and the observation of surface enhanced visible absorption is done by two separate experiments; i.e. UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and photo-induced birefringence, since the signals detected from both experiments are directly proportional to the extinction coefficient of the dye. Different strains of Escherichia coli that exhibit genetic characteristics linked to diarrhea pose a major threat to both human and animal health. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of pathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli), the genetic linkages and routes of transmission between E. coli isolates from different animal species. The efficiency of disinfectants such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), Virkon®S, TH4+, nano zinc oxide (ZnO NPs), and H2O2-based zinc oxide nanoparticles (H2O2/ZnO NPs) against isolated strains of E. coli was evaluated. Using 100 fecal samples from different diarrheal species (cow n = 30, sheep n = 40, and broiler chicken n = 30) for E. coli isolation and identification using the entero-bacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC–PCR) fingerprinting technique. The E. coli properties isolated from several diarrheal species were examined for their pathogenicity in vitro. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), zeta potential, and particle size distribution were used for the synthesis and characterization of ZnO NPs and H2O2/ZnO NPs. The broth macro-dilution method was used to assess the effectiveness of disinfectants and disinfectant-based nanoparticles against E. coli strains. Regarding the results, the hemolytic activity and Congo red binding assays of pathogenic E. coli isolates were 55.3 and 44.7%, respectively. Eleven virulent E. coli isolates were typed into five ERIC-types (A1, A2, B1, B2, and B3) using the ERIC-PCR method. These types clustered into two main clusters (A and B) with 75% similarity. In conclusion, there was 90% similarity between the sheep samples' ERIC types A1 and A2. On the other hand, 89% of the ERIC types B1, B2, and B3 of cows and poultry samples were comparable. In this research, different Co2+ doped ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) were hydrothermally synthesized by an environmentally friendly, sustainable technique using the extract of P. capillacea for the first time. Co-ZnO was characterized and confirmed by FTIR, XPS, XRD, BET, EDX, SEM, TEM, DRS UV–Vis spectroscopy, and TGA analyses. Dislocation density, micro strains, lattice parameters and volume of the unit cell were measured using XRD results. XRD suggests that the average size of these NPs was between 44.49 and 65.69 nm with a hexagonal wurtzite structure. Tauc plot displayed that the optical energy bandgap of ZnO NPs (3.18) slowly declines with Co doping (2.96 eV). Near complete removal of the ciprofloxacin (CIPF) antibiotic was attained using Green 5% of Hy-Co-ZnO in the existence of visible LED light which exhibited maximum degradation efficiency (99%) within 120 min for 30 ppm CIPF initial concentration. The photodegradation mechanism of CIPF using Green Hy-Co-ZnO NPs followed the Pseudo-first-order kinetics. The Green Hy-Co-ZnO NPs improved photocatalytic performance toward CIPF for 3 cycles. The experiments were designed using the RSM (CCD) method for selected parameters such as catalyst dosage, antibiotic dosage, shaking speed, and pH. This work demonstrated enhanced adsorption capabilities of lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) synthesized via a straightforward hydrotropic method compared to pristine lignin (PL) powder for removing methylene blue dye from aqueous solutions. Kraft lignin was used as a precursor and p-toluenesulfonic acid as the hydrotrope to produce spherical LNPs with ~ 200 nm diameter. Extensive characterization by SEM, AFM, DLS, zeta potential, and BET verified successful fabrication of microporous LNPs with fourfold higher specific surface area (14.9 m2/g) compared to PL (3.4 m2/g). Significantly reduced particle agglomeration and rearranged surface chemistry (zeta potential of −13.3 mV) arising from the self-assembly of lignin fractions under hydrotropic conditions enabled the application of LNPs and superior adsorbents compared to PL. Batch adsorption experiments exhibited up to 14 times higher methylene blue removal capacity, from 20.74 for PL to 127.91 mg/g for LNPs, and ultrafast equilibrium uptake within 3 min for LNPs compared to 10 min for PL. Kinetic modeling based on pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order equations revealed chemisorption as the predominant mechanism, with a rate constant of 0.032825 g/mg·h for LNPs—over an order of magnitude higher than PL (0.07125 g/mg·h). Isotherm modeling indicated Langmuir monolayer adsorption behavior on relatively uniform lignin surface functional groups. The substantially augmented adsorption performance of LNPs arose from the increased surface area and abundance of surface functional groups, providing greater accessibility of chemically active binding sites for rapid dye uptake. Overall, this work demonstrates that tailoring lignin nanoparticle structure and surface chemistry via scalable hydrotropic synthesis is a simple and sustainable approach for producing highly efficient lignin-based nano-adsorbents for organic dye removal from industrial wastewater. The palladium anchored to BisPyP@bilayer-SiO2@NMP organic–inorganic hybrid was employed as an effective and recyclable organometallic catalyst in Suzuki and Stille C–C coupling reactions. The structure of this magnetic nanocatalyst was determined using various techniques such as SEM, TEM, FT-IR, EDS, ICP-OES, VSM, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, XRD, and TGA. In both of the mentioned coupling paths, the yields of the products were very favorable and ranged from 90 to 98%. At first, an organometallic catalyst namely, Pd-DPyE@MCM-41@MNP was prepared through magnetic (Fe3O4) nanoparticles-doped into channels of mesoporous silica MCM-41 and then, anchoring a novel complex composed of di(4-pyridyl)ethylene and palladium on the inner surface of the support. This immobilized catalyst was successfully identified via VSM, ICP-OES, TEM, FTIR, TGA, SEM, BET, XRD, EDX and elemental mapping analyses. After that, it was used as a versatile, heterogeneous, and magnetically reproducible catalyst in the generation of N,N′-alkylidene bisamides (1a-13a, 8–20 min, 90–98%, 50 °C, solvent-free) and Suzuki–Miyaura coupling (SMC) reaction derivatives (1b-26b, 10–140 min, 86–98%, 60 °C, PEG-400). The VSM plot of Pd-DPyE@MCM-41@MNP displays that this nanocatalyst can be easily recycled by applying an external magnetic field. In both synthetic paths, this nanocatalyst was reused at least seven times without palladium leaching and significantly reducing its catalytic performance. The implications of adding cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles as a fuel additive to a castor oil biodiesel–diesel fuel blend on engine performance and emissions in a single-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine under various speed were examined in the current study. The test fuels used were fossil diesel fuels, B5 blend biodiesel (as 5% biodiesel and 95% diesel), B10 blend biodiesel (as 10% biodiesel and 90% diesel), B15 blend biodiesel (as 15% biodiesel and 85% diesel), B20 blend biodiesel (as 20% biodiesel and 80% diesel), and B25 blend biodiesel (as 25% biodiesel and 75% diesel), with cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticle additive (75 ppm). The result of the physio-chemical properties of the oil samples was within the limit of the ASTM standard. The addition of CeO2 nano additive to the biodiesel–diesel blends has demonstrated a significant reduction in emission and increased in engine performance for all biodiesel–diesel blends for the engine operating speed range. From the result B25 have the maximum reduction rate in BSFC and B10 have the minimum reduction rate in BSFC. The average maximum increment of thermal efficiency was 22.2% for B10 with CeO2 inclusion. CO emission increased as engine speed increased. HC emission was reduced for all blend, with and without CeO2 nano additions as speed increased. Maximum NOx emission was seen at the rated speed of 2700 rpm without nano additive and at 2900 rpm with nano additive. CeO2 nano additive reduced the soot opacity by 11.56% for all biodiesel–diesel blends for the engine operating speed range. As the objective of this study the results indicates CeO2 nano additive reduced emissions and improved the performance. Packaging is very important to maintain the quality of food and prevent the growth of microbes. Therefore, the use of food packaging with antimicrobial properties protects the food from the growth of microorganisms. In this study, antibacterial nanocomposite films of polyvinyl alcohol/starch/chitosan (PVA/ST/CS) together with nickel oxide-copper oxide nanoparticles (NiO–CuONPs) are prepared for food packaging. NiO–CuONPs were synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and structural characterization of nanoparticles (NPs) was carried out by XRD, FTIR, and SEM techniques. Composites of PVA/ST/CS, containing different percentages of NPs, were prepared by casting and characterized by FTIR and FESEM. The mechanical properties, diffusion barrier, and thermal stability were determined. The nanoparticles have a round structure with an average size of 6.7 ± 1.2 nm. The cross-section of PVA/ST/CS film is dense, uniform, and without cracks. In the mechanical tests, the addition of NPs up to 1% improved the mechanical properties (TS = 31.94 MPa), while 2% of NPs lowered TS to 14.76 MPa. The fibroblast cells toxicity and the films antibacterial activity were also examined. The films displayed stronger antibacterial effects against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) compared to Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli). Furthermore, these films have no toxicity to fibroblast cells and the survival rate of these cells in contact with the films is more than 84%. This investigation reported a one-step green synthesis of nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs) using aloe vera leaves extract solution for their application in a supercapacitor. This method used aloe vera leaves as a reducing agent, which is very simple and cost-effective. The synthesized NPs were thoroughly characterized using various techniques. The X-ray diffraction analysis unequivocally confirmed the crystalline nature; field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy images showed different shapes and forms of an agglomerated cluster of synthesized NPs. The absorption spectra were recorded from UV visible spectroscopy, while Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy provided insights into the functional groups present. Electrochemical assessments were carried out via cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charging-discharging and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. These experiments were performed using a 2 M KOH electrolyte within a 1.0 V potential window. Impressively, the single electrode displayed a remarkable specific capacitance of 462 F g−1 at a scan rate of 1 mV s−1 and 336 F g−1 at a current density of 0.76 A g−1. Further, a symmetric two-electrode device (NiO||NiO) has been successfully fabricated by employing a separator between the electrodes. The device exhibited an exceptional specific capacitance of approximately 239 F g−1, along with an energy density of 47.8 Wh kg−1 and a power density of 545 W kg−1 at 1 A g−1 current density within a 1.2 V potential window. The fabricated device also shows a retention capacity of 89% at 10 A g−1 after 2000 cycles with 114% of columbic efficiency. The present study underscores the effectiveness of the green synthesis approach in producing NiO NPs and establishes their potential as highly promising candidates for supercapacitor applications, showcasing both excellent electrochemical performance in a three-electrode system and remarkable stability in a practical two-electrode device. Herein, we report the synthesis of ZnFe2O4@SiO2@L-lysine@SO3H as a green, novel magnetic nanocatalyst, containing the sulfuric acid catalytic sites on the surface of zinc ferrite as the catalytic support. The physical and chemical properties of raw and modified samples (ZnFe2O4@SiO2@L-lysine@SO3H) were characterized by TGA, EDX, PXRD, Map, and FTIR analyses. The prepared nanocatalyst has excellent catalytic activity in synthesizing the oxidation of sulfides to the sulfoxides and Synthesis of pyrazolyl (Bis(pyrazolyl)methane) derivatives under green conditions. This designed nanocatalyst offers several advantages including the use of inexpensive materials and high yield, simple procedure, and commercially available. Today, nanoscience explores the potential of nanoparticles due to their extraordinary properties compared to bulk materials. The synthesis of metal nanoparticles using plant extracts is a very promising method for environmental remediation, which gets global attention due to pollution-led global warming. In the present study, iron nanoparticles (FeNPs) were successfully synthesized by the green method using Vernonia amygdalina plant leaf extract as a natural reducing and capping agent. Biosynthesized FeNPs were characterized with different analytical techniques such as UV–visible, FT-IR, XRD, and SEM. The analysis revealed the formation of amorphous FeNPs with an irregular morphology and non-uniform distribution in size and shape. The average particle size was approximately 2.31 µm. According to the catalytic degradation investigation, the FeNPs produced via the green approach are highly effective in breaking down both CV and MB into non-toxic products, with a maximum degradation efficiency of 97.47% and 94.22%, respectively, when the right conditions are met. The kinetics study exhibited a high correlation coefficient close to unity (0.999) and (0.995) for the degradation of MB and CV, respectively, for the zero-order pseudo-kinetics model, which describes the model as highly suitable for the degradation of both dyes by FeNPs compared to other models. The reusability and stability of biosynthesized nano-catalysts were studied and successfully used as efficient catalysts with a slight decrease in the degradation rate more than four times. The results from this study illustrate that green synthesized FeNPs offer a cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and efficient means for the catalytic degradation of organic dyes. Oriental poppy (Papaver orientale L.) belonging to the Papaveraceae family, has the capacity to synthesize a wide range of benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (BIAs). This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of green and chemical copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) elicitors on oxidative stress and the BIAs biosynthesis pathway in the cell suspension culture of P. orientale. This research shows that both green and chemical CuO NPs at concentrations of 20 mg/L and 40 mg/L, induce oxidative stress in the cell suspension of P. orientale by increasing the production of H2O2 and the activity of antioxidant enzymes. The comparison of treatments revealed that utilizing a lower concentration of CuO NPs (20 mg/L) and extending the duration of cell suspension incubation (up to 48 h) play a more influential role in inducing the expression of the BIAs biosynthesis pathway genes (PsWRKY, TYDC, SalSyn, SalR, SalAT, T6ODM, COR and CODM) and increasing the production of morphinan alkaloids (thebaine, codeine, and morphine). The overarching results indicate that the concentration of CuO NPs and the duration of cell treatment have a more significant impact than the nature of CuO NPs in inducing oxidative stress and stimulating the expression of the BIAs pathway genes. Collagen nanoparticles (collagen-NPs) are promising biological polymer nanoparticles due to their exceptional biodegradability and biocompatibility. Collagen-NPs were bio-fabricated from pure marine collagen using the cell-free supernatant of a newly isolated strain, Streptomyces sp. strain NEAA-3. Streptomyces sp. strain NEAA-3 was identified as Streptomyces plicatus strain NEAA-3 based on its cultural, morphological, physiological properties and 16S rRNA sequence analysis. The sequence data has been deposited under accession number OR501412.1 in the GenBank database. The face-centered central composite design (FCCD) was used to improve collagen-NPs biosynthesis. The maximum yield of collagen-NPs was 9.33 mg/mL with a collagen concentration of 10 mg/mL, an initial pH of 7, an incubation time of 72 h, and a temperature of 35 °C. Using the desirability function approach, the collagen-NPs biosynthesis obtained after FCCD optimization (9.53 mg/mL) was 3.92 times more than the collagen-NPs biosynthesis obtained before optimization process (2.43 mg/mL). The TEM analysis of collagen-NPs revealed hollow sphere nanoscale particles with an average diameter of 33.15 ± 10.02 nm. FTIR spectra confirmed the functional groups of the collagen, collagen-NPs and the cell-free supernatant that are essential for the efficient capping of collagen-NPs. The biosynthesized collagen-NPs exhibited antioxidant activity and anticancer activity against HeP-G2, MCF-7 and HCT116 cell lines. Collagen-NPs assessed as an effective drug loading carrier with methotrexate (MTX), a chemotherapeutic agent. The TEM analysis revealed that the average size of MTX-loaded collagen-NPs was 35.4 ± 8.9 nm. In this research, palladium (II) and platinum (II), as well as their bimetallic nanoparticles were synthesized using medicinal plants in an eco-friendly manner. Rosemary and Ginseng extracts were chosen due to their promising anticancer potential. The synthesized nanoparticles underwent characterization through FT-IR spectroscopy, DLS, XRD, EDX, SEM, and TEM techniques. Once the expected structures were confirmed, the performance of these nanoparticles, which exhibited an optimal size, was evaluated as potential anticancer agents through in vitro method on colon cancer cell lines (Ls180, SW480). MTT assay studies showed that the synthesized nanoparticles induced cell death. Moreover, real-time PCR was employed to investigate autophagy markers and the effect of nanoparticles on the apoptosis process, demonstrating a significant effect of the synthesized compounds in this regard. Low-pressure plasma processes are routinely used to grow, functionalize or etch materials, and thanks to some of its unique attributes, plasma has become a major player for some applications such as microelectronics. Plasma processes are however still at a research level when it comes to the synthesis and functionalization of nanoparticles. Yet plasma processes can offer a particularly suitable solution to produce nanoparticles having very peculiar features since they enable to: (i) reach particle with a variety of chemical compositions, (ii) tune the size and density of the particle cloud by acting on the transport dynamics of neutral or charged particles through a convenient setting of the thermal gradients or the electric field topology in the reactor chamber and (iii) manipulate nanoparticles and deposit them directly onto a substrate, or codeposit them along with a continuous film to produce nanocomposites or (iv) use them as a template to produce 1D materials. In this article, we present an experimental investigation of nanoparticles synthesis and dynamics in low-pressure microwave plasmas by combining time-resolved and in-situ laser extinction and scattering diagnostics, QCL absorption spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, optical emission spectroscopy and SEM along with a particle transport model. We showed for the first time the thermophoresis-driven dynamic of particle cloud in electrodless microwave plasmas. We showed that this effect is linked to particular fluctuations in the plasma composition and results in the formation of a void region in the bulk of the plasma surrounded by a particle cloud in the peripherical post-discharge.
