Manual identification of tomato leaf diseases is a time-consuming and laborious process that may lead to inaccurate results without professional assistance. Therefore, an automated, early, and precise leaf disease recognition system is essential for farmers to ensure the quality and quantity of tomato production by providing timely interventions to mitigate disease spread. In this study, we have proposed seven robust Bayesian optimized deep hybrid learning models leveraging the synergy between deep learning and machine learning for the automated classification of ten types of tomato leaves (nine diseased and one healthy). We customized the popular Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm for automatic feature extraction due to its ability to capture spatial hierarchies of features directly from raw data and classical machine learning techniques [Random Forest (RF), XGBoost, GaussianNB (GNB), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Multinomial Logistic Regression (MLR), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN)], and stacking for classifications. Additionally, the study incorported a Boruta feature filtering layer to capture the statistically significant features. The standard, research-oriented PlantVillage dataset was used for the performance testing, which facilitates benchmarking against prior research and enables meaningful comparisons of classification performance across different approaches. We utilized a variety of statistical classification metrics to demonstrate the robustness of our models. Using the CNN-Stacking model, this study achieved the highest classification performance among the seven hybrid models. On an unseen dataset, this model achieved average precision, recall, f1-score, mcc, and accuracy values of 98.527%, 98.533%, 98.527%, 98.525%, and 98.268%, respectively. Our study requires only 0.174 s of testing time to correctly identify noisy, blurry, and transformed images. This indicates our approach's time efficiency and generalizability in images captured under challenging lighting conditions and with complex backgrounds. Based on the comparative analysis, our approach is superior and computationally inexpensive compared to the existing studies. This study investigates the impact of air pollution on health outcomes in Middle Eastern countries, a region facing severe environmental challenges. As such, these are important in an effort to add up to policy-level as well as interventional changes that can be put in practice in the area of public health. Numeration analysis and association with health parameters was carried out by using Analytical tools such as, AIR Data, ARIMA,ANN, SVM and Exponential smoothing. This study investigated whether machine learning (ML) has better predictive accuracy than logistic regression analysis (LR) for gait independence at discharge in subacute stroke patients (n = 843) who could not walk independently at admission. We developed prediction models using LR and five ML algorithms—specifically, the decision tree (DT), support vector machine, artificial neural network, ensemble learning, and k-nearest neighbor methods. Functional Independence Measure sub-items were used to evaluate the ability to walk independently. Model predictive accuracies were evaluated using areas under receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) as well as accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and specificity. The AUC for DT (0.812) was significantly lower than those for the other algorithms (p < 0.01); however, the AUC for LR (0.895) did not differ significantly from those for the other models (0.893–0.903). Other performance metrics showed no substantial differences between LR and ML algorithms. In conclusion, the DT algorithm had significantly low predictive accuracy, and LR showed no significant difference in predictive accuracy compared with the other ML algorithms. As its predictive accuracy is similar to that of ML, LR can continue to be used for predicting the prognosis of gait independence, with additional advantages of being easily understandable and manually computable. Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), noted for its widespread prevalence among adults, has become the leading chronic liver condition globally. Simultaneously, the annual disease burden, particularly liver cirrhosis caused by NAFLD, has increased significantly. Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs) play a crucial role in the progression of this disease and are key to the pathogenesis of NAFLD. However, research into the specific roles of NETs-related genes in NAFLD is still a field requiring thorough investigation. Utilizing techniques like AddModuleScore, ssGSEA, and WGCNA, our team conducted gene screening to identify the genes linked to NETs in both single-cell and bulk transcriptomics. Using algorithms including Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, Least Absolute Shrinkage, and Selection Operator, we identified ZFP36L2 and PHLDA1 as key hub genes. The pivotal role of these genes in NAFLD diagnosis was confirmed using the training dataset GSE164760. This study identified 116 genes linked to NETs across single-cell and bulk transcriptomic analyses. These genes demonstrated enrichment in immune and metabolic pathways. Additionally, two NETs-related hub genes, PHLDA1 and ZFP36L2, were selected through machine learning for integration into a prognostic model. These hub genes play roles in inflammatory and metabolic processes. scRNA-seq results showed variations in cellular communication among cells with different expression patterns of these key genes. In conclusion, this study explored the molecular characteristics of NETs-associated genes in NAFLD. It identified two potential biomarkers and analyzed their roles in the hepatic microenvironment. The declining fertility rate and increasing marriage age among girls pose challenges for policymakers, leading to issues such as population decline, higher social and economic costs, and reduced labor productivity. Using machine learning (ML) techniques to predict the desire to have children can offer a promising solution to address these challenges. Therefore, this study aimed to predict the childbearing tendency in women on the verge of marriage using ML techniques. Data from 252 participants (203 expressing a "desire to have children" and 49 indicating "reluctance to have children") in Abadan, and Khorramshahr cities (Khuzestan Province, Iran) was analyzed. Seven ML algorithms, including multilayer perceptron (MLP), support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), random forest (RF), J48 decision tree, Naive Bayes (NB), and K-nearest neighbors (KNN), were employed. The performance of these algorithms was assessed using metrics derived from the confusion matrix. The RF algorithm showed superior performance, with the highest sensitivity (99.5%), specificity (95.6%), and receiver operating characteristic curve (90.1%) values. Meanwhile, MLP emerged as the top-performing algorithm, showcasing the best overall performance in accuracy (77.75%) and precision (81.8%) compared to other algorithms. Factors such as age of marriage, place of residence, and strength of the family center with the birth of a child were the most effective predictors of a woman's desire to have children. Conversely, the number of daughters, the wife's ethnicity, and the spouse's ownership of assets such as cars and houses were among the least important factors in predicting this desire. ML algorithms exhibit excellent predictive capabilities for childbearing tendencies in women on the verge of marriage, highlighting their remarkable effectiveness. In intensive care unit (ICU) patients undergoing mechanical ventilation (MV), the occurrence of difficult weaning contributes to increased ventilator-related complications, prolonged hospitalization duration, and a significant rise in healthcare costs. Therefore, early identification of influencing factors and prediction of patients at risk of difficult weaning can facilitate early intervention and preventive measures. This study aimed to strengthen airway management for ICU patients by constructing a risk prediction model with comprehensive and individualized offline programs based on machine learning techniques. This study involved the collection of data from 487 patients undergoing MV in the ICU, with a total of 36 variables recorded. The dataset was divided into a training set (70% of the data) and a test set (30% of the data). Five machine learning models, namely logistic regression, random forest, support vector machine, light gradient boosting machine, and extreme gradient boosting, were compared to predict the risk of difficult weaning in ICU patients with MV. Significant influencing factors were identified based on the results of these models, and a risk prediction model for ICU patients with MV was established. When evaluating the models using AUC (Area under the Curve of ROC) and Accuracy as performance metrics, the Random Forest algorithm exhibited the best performance among the five machine learning algorithms. The area under the operating characteristic curve for the subjects was 0.805, with an accuracy of 0.748, recall (0.888), specificity (0.767) and F1 score (0.825). This study successfully developed a risk prediction model for ICU patients with MV using a machine learning algorithm. The Random Forest algorithm demonstrated the highest prediction performance. This study aims to evaluate the applicability of the high-resolution WaveFront Phase Imaging Sensor (WFPI) in eyes with Fuchs' Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy (FECD) through qualitative and quantitative analysis using a custom-designed Automatic Guttae Detection Method (AGDM). The ocular phase was measured using the t · eyede aberrometer and then was processed to obtain its High-Pass Filter Map (HPFM). The subjects were pathological and healthy patients from the Fundación Jiménez-Díaz Hospital (Madrid, Spain). The AGDM was developed and applied in pupils with 3 and 5 mm of diameter. A set of metrics were extracted and evaluated like the Root-Mean-Square error (RMS), Number of guttae, Guttae Area, and Area of Delaunay Triangulation (DT). Finally, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) model was trained to classify between pathological and healthy eyes. Quantitatively, the HPFM reveals a dark spots pattern according to the ophthalmologist's description of the slit-lamp examination of guttae distribution. There were significant statistical differences in all the metrics when FECD and Healthy groups were compared using the same pupil size; but comparing both pupil sizes for the same group there were significant differences in most of the variables. Cracks are a common problem in concrete surfaces. With the continuous optimization of machine vision-based inspection systems, effective crack detection and recognition is the core of the entire system. In this study, support vector machine (SVM) was used to distinguish cracks from other regions. To complete the recognition system of the SVM, a framework consisting of an image processing and recognition model was proposed. An algorithm combining the Prewitt operator with the Otsu threshold was proposed for image segmentation. The binary image processed by the new algorithm combined with mathematical morphology can result in a more complete crack zone and fewer interference regions. After the initial parameter extraction, most of the impurity areas were screened by preliminary discrimination, removing 99% of the impurities. This processing step ensured the balance and effectiveness of the samples. To establish an automatic identification model based on SVM with a radial basis function, compactness, occupancy rate, and length–width ratio were selected as input parameters after comparing these three features with all six features of the crack. A stroke is a dangerous, life-threatening disease that mostly affects people over 65, but an unhealthy diet is also contributing to the development of strokes at younger ages. Strokes can be treated successfully if they are identified early enough, and suitable therapies are available. The purpose of this study is to develop a stroke prediction model that will improve stroke prediction effectiveness as well as accuracy. Predicting whether someone is suffering from a stroke or not can be accomplished with this proposed machine learning algorithm. In this research, various machine learning techniques are evaluated for predicting stroke on the healthcare stroke dataset. The feature selection algorithms used here are gradient boosting and random forest, and classifiers include the decision tree classifier, Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier, logistic regression classifier, gradient boosting classifier, random forest classifier, K neighbors classifier, and Xtreme gradient boosting classifier. In this process, different machine-learning approaches are employed to test predictive methods on different data samples. Age, gender, body mass index (BMI), and mean heart rate during sleep were found to be risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and a variety of methods have been applied to predict the occurrence of OSA. This study aimed to develop and evaluate OSA prediction models using simple and accessible parameters, combined with multiple machine learning algorithms, and integrate them into a cloud-based mobile sleep medicine management platform for clinical use. The study data were obtained from the clinical records of 610 patients who underwent polysomnography (PSG) at the Sleep Medicine Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University between January 2021 and December 2022. The participants were randomly divided into a training-test group (80%) and an independent validation group (20%). The logistic regression, artificial neural network, naïve Bayes, support vector machine, random forest, and decision tree algorithms were used with age, gender, BMI, and mean heart rate during sleep as predictors to build a risk prediction model for moderate-to-severe OSA. To evaluate the performance of the models, we calculated the area under the receiver operating curve (AUROC), accuracy, recall, specificity, precision, and F1-score for the independent validation set. In addition, the calibration curve, decision curve, and clinical impact curve were generated to determine clinical usefulness. Age, gender, BMI, and mean heart rate during sleep were significantly associated with OSA. The artificial neural network model had the best efficacy compared with the other prediction algorithms. The AUROC, accuracy, recall, specificity, precision, F1-score, and Brier score were 80.4% (95% CI 76.7–84.1%), 69.9% (95% CI 69.8–69.9%), 86.5% (95% CI 81.6–91.3%), 61.5% (95% CI 56.6–66.4%), 53.2% (95% CI 47.7–58.7%), 65.9% (95% CI 60.2–71.5%), and 0.165, respectively, for the artificial neural network model. The AUROCs for the LR, NB, SVM, RF, and DT models were 80.2%, 79.7%, 79.2%, 78.4%, and 70.4%, respectively. The six models based on four simple and easily accessible parameters effectively predicted moderate-to-severe OSA in patients with PSG screening, with the artificial neural network model having the best performance. Advances in sensor, computing, and communication technologies are enabling big data analytics by providing time series data. However, conventional models struggle to identify sequence features and forecast accuracy. This paper investigates time series features and shows that some machine learning algorithms can outperform deep learning models. In particular, the problem analyzed concerned predicting the number of vehicles passing through an Italian tollbooth in 2021. The dataset, composed of 8766 rows and 6 columns relating to additional tollbooths, proved to have high stationarity and was treated through machine learning methods such as support vector machine, random forest, and eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), as well as deep learning through recurrent neural networks with long short-term memory (RNN-LSTM) cells. From the comparison of these models, the prediction through the XGBoost algorithm outperforms competing algorithms, particularly in terms of MAE and MSE. The result highlights how a shallower algorithm than a neural network is, in this case, able to obtain a better adaptation to the time series instead of a much deeper model that tends to develop a smoother prediction. Performing mathematical calculations is a cognitive activity that can affect biological signals. This study aims to examine the changes in electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals of 36 healthy subjects during the performance of arithmetic tasks. To process EEG signals in different frequency bands, the energy and entropy of entropy (EoE) were extracted from the power spectrum and phase spectrum, respectively. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine meaningful features. These features were sent into support vector machine (SVM) and multi-layer perception (MLP) classifiers to assess their capability in separating math and rest classes. Results indicated the highest classification accuracy of 98.4% for classifying good counters in math and rest state using the MLP method. Based on the majority of features selected for each EEG channel, discriminative brain areas were identified. Analyzing EEG signals proved that math calculation may have multiple influences on various parts of the brain. By comparing good counters' brain activities to those in a resting state, prominent changes were observed in the F4, C4, T4, T5, P3, and O2 areas. However, O1 and O2 channels showed significant changes in the brain of bad counters compared to the resting state. Considering ECG signals also demonstrated that during math calculation the number of heart rates per minute surpasses the rest state. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted people's lives and caused significant economic damage around the world, but its impact on people's mental health has not been paid due attention by the research community. According to anecdotal data, the pandemic has raised serious concerns related to mental health among the masses. However, no systematic investigations have been conducted previously on mental health monitoring and, in particular, detection of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The goal of this study is to use classical machine learning approaches to classify tweets into COVID-PTSD positive or negative categories. To this end, we employed various Machine Learning (ML) classifiers, to segregate the psychotic difficulties with the user's PTSD in the context of COVID-19, including Random Forest Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes, and K-Nearest Neighbor. ML models are trained and tested using various combinations of feature selection strategies to get the best possible combination. Based on our experimentation on real-world dataset, we demonstrate our model's effectiveness to perform classification with an accuracy of 83.29% using Support Vector Machine as classifier and unigram as a feature pattern. The objective of this study is to promptly and accurately allocate resources, scientifically guide grain distribution, and enhance the precision of crop yield prediction (CYP), particularly for corn, along with ensuring application stability. The digital camera is selected to capture the digital image of a 60 m × 10 m experimental cornfield. Subsequently, the obtained data on corn yield and statistical growth serve as inputs for the multi-source information fusion (MSIF). The study proposes an MSIF-based CYP Random Forest model by amalgamating the fluctuating corn yield dataset. In relation to the spatial variability of the experimental cornfield, the fitting degree and prediction ability of the proposed MSIF-based CYP Random Forest are analyzed, with statistics collected from 1-hectare, 10-hectare, 20-hectare, 30-hectare, and 50-hectare experimental cornfields. Results indicate that the proposed MSIF-based CYP Random Forest model outperforms control models such as support vector machine (SVM) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), achieving the highest prediction accuracy of 89.30%, surpassing SVM and LSTM by approximately 13.44%. Meanwhile, as the experimental field size increases, the proposed model demonstrates higher prediction accuracy, reaching a maximum of 98.71%. This study is anticipated to offer early warnings of potential factors affecting crop yields and to further advocate for the adoption of MSIF-based CYP. Super absorbent polymer (SAP) has a capacity to enhance the characteristics of cementitious composites in both their fresh and hardened forms. However, it is essential to recognize that the strength of SAP concrete may decrease. By altering the concrete composition and selecting the appropriate type of SAP, it is possible to reduce this reduction. This work employs machine learning (ML) to tackle the issue of strength degradation. The analysis considers ten distinct variables linked to concrete composition and the type of SAP. The study uses machine learning approaches that involve both regression and classification tasks. The use of ensemble learning greatly improves the quality and accuracy of the results, showing its superiority in combining several models to produce more precise predictions. The findings demonstrate that the Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) regression algorithms accurately forecasted the percentage of reduction in strength in SAP concrete. These predictions were based on the concrete composition and SAP details, resulting in R2 values of 0.90 and 0.88, respectively. Furthermore, XGBoost exhibited the highest accuracy, reaching 0.94, when compared to the various categorization algorithms. According to the results, the mean squared error (MSE) of the ensemble model demonstrated superior outcomes. Furthermore, the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) reveal that some variables, including SAP%, SAP size, and compressive strength, have a significant influence on the strength reduction model. The quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) system identifies an individual's risk to progress to poor sepsis-related outcomes using minimal variables. We used Support Vector Machine, Learning Using Concave and Convex Kernels, and Random Forest to predict an increase in qSOFA score using electronic health record (EHR) data, electrocardiograms (ECG), and arterial line signals. We structured physiological signals data in a tensor format and used Canonical Polyadic/Parallel Factors (CP) decomposition for feature reduction. Random Forests trained on ECG data show improved performance after tensor decomposition for predictions in a 6-h time frame (AUROC 0.67 ± 0.06 compared to 0.57 ± 0.08, p = 0.01 ). Adding arterial line features can also improve performance (AUROC 0.69 ± 0.07, p < 0.01 ), and benefit from tensor decomposition (AUROC 0.71 ± 0.07, p = 0.01 ). Adding EHR data features to a tensor-reduced signal model further improves performance (AUROC 0.77 ± 0.06, p < 0.01 ). Despite reduction in performance going from an EHR data-informed model to a tensor-reduced waveform data model, the signals-informed model offers distinct advantages. The first is that predictions can be made on a continuous basis in real-time, and second is that these predictions are not limited by the availability of EHR data. Additionally, structuring the waveform features as a tensor conserves structural and temporal information that would otherwise be lost if the data were presented as flat vectors. The symptoms of diseases can vary among individuals and may remain undetected in the early stages. Detecting these symptoms is crucial in the initial stage to effectively manage and treat cases of varying severity. Machine learning has made major advances in recent years, proving its effectiveness in various healthcare applications. This study aims to identify patterns of symptoms and general rules regarding symptoms among patients using supervised and unsupervised machine learning. The integration of a rule-based machine learning technique and classification methods is utilized to extend a prediction model. This study analyzes patient data that was available online through the Kaggle repository. After preprocessing the data and exploring descriptive statistics, the Apriori algorithm was applied to identify frequent symptoms and patterns in the discovered rules. Additionally, the study applied several machine learning models for predicting diseases, including stepwise regression, support vector machine, bootstrap forest, boosted trees, and neural-boosted methods. Several predictive machine learning models were applied to the dataset to predict diseases. It was discovered that the stepwise method for fitting outperformed all competitors in this study, as determined through cross-validation conducted for each model based on established criteria. Moreover, numerous significant decision rules were extracted in the study, which can streamline clinical applications without the need for additional expertise. These rules enable the prediction of relationships between symptoms and diseases, as well as between different diseases. Therefore, the results obtained in this study have the potential to improve the performance of prediction models. We can discover diseases symptoms and general rules using supervised and unsupervised machine learning for the dataset. This paper proposes a transformer fault diagnosis method based on ACGAN and CGWO-LSSVM to address the problem of misjudgment and low diagnostic accuracy caused by the small number and uneven distribution of some fault samples in transformer fault diagnosis. Firstly, generate adversarial networks through auxiliary classification conditions, The ACGAN method expands a small and imbalanced number of samples to obtain balanced and expanded data; Secondly, the non coding ratio method is used to construct the characteristics of dissolved gases in oil, and kernel principal component analysis is used, KPCA method for feature fusion; Finally, using the improved cubic gray wolf optimization algorithm, CGWO for least square support vector machines, optimize the parameters of the LSSVM model and construct a transformer fault diagnosis model. The results show that the proposed method has a low false alarm rate and a diagnostic accuracy of 97.66%, compared to IGOA-LSSVM the IChOA-LSSVM and PSO-LSSVM methods improved accuracy by 0.12, 1.76, and 2.58%, respectively. This method has been proven to solve the problems of misjudgment and low diagnostic accuracy caused by small sample sizes and uneven distribution. The identification of anticancer peptides (ACPs) is crucial, especially in the development of peptide-based cancer therapy. The classical models such as Split Amino Acid Composition (SAAC) and Pseudo Amino Acid Composition (PseAAC) lack the incorporation of feature representation. These advancements improve the predictive accuracy and efficiency of ACP identification. Thus, the effort of this research is to propose and develop an advanced framework based on feature extraction. Thus, to achieve this objective herein we propose an Extended Dipeptide Composition (EDPC) framework. The proposed EDPC framework extends the dipeptide composition by considering the local sequence environment information and reforming the CD-HIT framework to remove noise and redundancy. To measure the accuracy, we have performed several experiments. These experiments were employed using four famous machine learning (ML) algorithms named; Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), and K Nearest Neighbor (KNN). For comparisons, we have used accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, precision, recall, and F1-Score as evaluation criteria. The reliability of the proposed framework is further evaluated using statistical significance tests. As a result, the proposed EDPC framework exhibited enhanced performance than SAAC and PseAAC, where the SVM model delivered the highest accuracy of 96. 6% and significant enhancements in specificity, sensitivity, precision, and F1-score over multiple datasets. Due to the incorporation of enhanced feature representation and the incorporation of local and global sequence profiles proposed EDPC achieves higher classification performance. The excessive accumulation and malfunctioning of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is a major determinant of increased risk of obesity-related comorbidities. Thus, risk stratification of people living with obesity according to their amount of VAT is of clinical interest. Currently, the most common VAT measurement methods include mathematical formulae based on anthropometric dimensions, often biased by human measurement errors, bio-impedance, and image techniques such as X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) analysis, which requires specialized equipment. However, previous studies showed the possibility of classifying people living with obesity according to their VAT through blood chemical concentrations by applying machine learning techniques. In addition, most of the efforts were spent on men living with obesity while little was done for women. Therefore, this study aims to compare the performance of the multilinear regression model (MLR) in estimating VAT and six different supervised machine learning classifiers, including logistic regression (LR), support vector machine and decision tree-based models, to categorize 149 women living with obesity. For clustering, the study population was categorized into classes 0, 1, and 2 according to their VAT and the accuracy of each MLR and classification model was evaluated using DXA-data (DXAdata), blood chemical concentrations (BLDdata), and both DXAdata and BLDdata together (ALLdata). Estimation error and R 2 were computed for MLR, while receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and precision-recall curves (PR) area under the curve (AUC) were used to assess the performance of every classification model. MLR models showed a poor ability to estimate VAT with mean absolute error ≥ 401.40 and R 2 ≤ 0.62 in all the datasets. The highest accuracy was found for LR with values of 0.57, 0.63, and 0.53 for ALLdata, DXAdata, and BLDdata, respectively. The ROC AUC showed a poor ability of both ALLdata and DXAdata to distinguish class 1 from classes 0 and 2 (AUC = 0.31, 0.71, and 0.85, respectively) as also confirmed by PR (AUC = 0.24, 0.57, and 0.73, respectively). However, improved performances were obtained when applying LR model to BLDdata (ROC AUC ≥ 0.61 and PR AUC ≥ 0.42), especially for class 1. These results seem to suggest that, while a direct and reliable estimation of VAT was not possible in our cohort, blood sample-derived information can robustly classify women living with obesity by machine learning-based classifiers, a fact that could benefit the clinical practice, especially in those health centres where medical imaging devices are not available. Gait recognition has become an increasingly promising area of research in the search for noninvasive and effective methods of person identification. Its potential applications in security systems and medical diagnosis make it an exciting field with wide-ranging implications. However, precisely recognizing and assessing gait patterns is difficult, particularly in changing situations or from multiple perspectives. In this study, we utilized the widely used CASIA-B dataset to observe the performance of our proposed gait recognition model, with the aim of addressing some of the existing limitations in this field. Fifty individuals are randomly selected from the dataset, and the resulting data are split evenly for training and testing purposes. We begin by excerpting features from gait photos using two well-known deep learning networks, MobileNetV1 and Xception. We then combined these features and reduced their dimensionality via principal component analysis (PCA) to improve the model's performance. We subsequently assessed the model using two distinct classifiers: a random forest and a one against all support vector machine (OaA-SVM). The findings indicate that the OaA-SVM classifier manifests superior performance compared to the others, with a mean accuracy of 98.77% over eleven different viewing angles. The purpose of this study was to develop a machine learning model for predicting 30-day readmission after bariatric surgery based on laboratory tests. Data were collected from patients who underwent bariatric surgery between 2018 and 2023. Laboratory test indicators from the preoperative stage, one day postoperatively, and three days postoperatively were analyzed. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression was used to select the most relevant features. Models constructed included support vector machine (SVM), generalized linear model, multi-layer perceptron, random forest, and extreme gradient boosting. Model performance was evaluated and compared using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC). A total of 1262 patients were included, of which 7.69% of cases were readmitted. The SVM model achieved the highest AUROC (0.784; 95% CI 0.696–0.872), outperforming other models. Machine learning and remote sensing techniques are widely accepted as valuable, cost-effective tools in lithological discrimination and mineralogical investigations. The current study represents an attempt to use machine learning classification along with several remote sensing techniques being applied to Landsat-8/9 satellite data to discriminate the various outcropping lithological rock units at the Duwi Shear Belt (DSB) area in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt. Multi-class machine learning classification, multiple conventional remote sensing mapping techniques, spectral separability analysis based on the Jeffries-Matusita (J-M) distance measure, fieldwork, and petrographic investigations were integrated to enhance the lithological discrimination of the exposed rock units at DSB area. The well-recognized machine learning classifier (Support Vector Machine—SVM) was adopted in this study, with training data determined carefully based on enhancing the lithological discrimination attained from various remote sensing techniques of False Color Composites (FCC), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF), along with the fieldwork data and the previously published geologic maps. High overall accuracy of the SVM classification was obtained, however, inspection of the individual rock unit classes' accuracies revealed lower accuracy for certain types of rock units which were also found associated with lower separability scores as well. Among the least separable rock units were; metagabbro rocks that showed high spectral similarity with the volcaniclastic metasediments rocks, and the metaultramafics of the ophiolitic mélange showed spectral attitude of high correlation to that of the Hammamat volcanosedimentary rocks. Target-oriented Color Ratio Composites (CRC) technique was implemented to better discriminate these hardly separable rock units. A final integrated geological map was obtained comprising the various discriminated Neoproterozoic basement rock units of the DSB area. The successfully mapped litho-units include; Meatiq Group (amphibolites, gneissic granitoids, and mylonitized granitoids), ophiolitic mélange (metaultramafics, metagabbro-amphibolites, and volcaniclastic metasediments), Dokhan volcanics, Hammamat sediments, and granites. There is a complex high-dimensional nonlinear mapping relationship between the compressive strength of High-Performance Concrete (HPC) and its components, which has great influence on the accurate prediction of compressive strength. In this paper, an efficient robust software calculation strategy combining BP Neural Network (BPNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed for the prediction of compressive strength of HPC. 8 features were extracted from the previous literature, and a compressive strength database containing 454 sets of data was constructed. The model was trained and tested, and the performance of 4 Machine Learning (ML) models, namely BPNN, SVM, GA-BPNN and GA-SVM, was compared. The results show that the coupled model is superior to the single model. Moreover, because GA-SVM has better generalization ability and theoretical basis, its convergence speed and prediction accuracy are better than GA-BPNN. Then Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and Shapley analysis were used to verify the interpretability of the GA-SVM model, which showed that the water-binder ratio had the most significant influence on the compressive strength. Finally, the combination of multiple input variables to evaluate the compressive strength supplemented this research, and again verified the significant influence of water-binder ratio, providing reference value for subsequent research. Machine learning has emerged as a leading field in artificial intelligence, demonstrating expert-level performance in various domains. Astronomy has benefited from machine learning techniques, particularly in classifying and identifying stars based on their features. This study focuses on the spectra-based classification of 11,408 B-type and 2422 hot subdwarf stars. The study employs baseline correction using Asymmetric Least Squares (ALS) to enhance classification accuracy. It applies the Pan-Core concept to identify 500 unique patterns or ranges for both types of stars. These patterns are the foundation for creating Support Vector Machine (SVM) models, including the linear (L-SVM), polynomial (P-SVM), and radial basis (R-SVM) kernels. Parameter tuning for the SVM models is achieved through cross-validation. Evaluation of the SVM models on test data reveals that the linear kernel SVM achieves the highest accuracy (87.0%), surpassing the polynomial kernel SVM (84.1%) and radial kernel SVM (80.1%). The average calibrated accuracy falls within the range of 90–95%. These results demonstrate the potential of using spectrum-based classification to aid astronomers in improving and expanding their understanding of stars, with a specific focus on the identification of hot subdwarf stars. We developed an interpretable machine learning algorithm that prospectively predicts the risk of thrombocytopenia in older critically ill patients during their stay in the intensive care unit (ICU), ultimately aiding clinical decision-making and improving patient care. Data from 2286 geriatric patients who underwent surgery and were admitted to the ICU of Dongyang People's Hospital between 2012 and 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Integrated algorithms were developed, and four machine-learning algorithms were used. Selected characteristics included common demographic data, biochemical indicators, and vital signs. Eight key variables were selected using the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator and Random Forest Algorithm. Thrombocytopenia occurred in 18.2% of postoperative geriatric patients, with a higher mortality rate. The C5.0 model showed the best performance, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve close to 0.85, along with unparalleled accuracy, precision, specificity, recall, and balanced accuracy scores of 0.88, 0.98, 0.89, 0.98, and 0.85, respectively. This research analyzes the adverse impact of white noise on collective quantum measurements and argues that such noise poses a significant obstacle for the otherwise straightforward deployment of collective measurements in quantum communications. Our findings then suggests addressing this issue by correlating outcomes of these measurements with quantum state purity. To test the concept, a support vector machine is employed to boost the performance of several collective entanglement witnesses by incorporating state purity into the classification task of distinguishing entangled states from separable ones. Furthermore, the application of machine learning allows to optimize specificity of entanglement detection given a target value of sensitivity. Generative AI tools exemplified by ChatGPT are becoming a new reality. This study is motivated by the premise that "AI generated content may exhibit a distinctive behavior that can be separated from scientific articles". In this study, we show how articles can be generated using means of prompt engineering for various diseases and conditions. We then show how we tested this premise in two phases and prove its validity. Subsequently, we introduce xFakeSci, a novel learning algorithm, that is capable of distinguishing ChatGPT-generated articles from publications produced by scientists. The algorithm is trained using network models driven from both sources. To mitigate overfitting issues, we incorporated a calibration step that is built upon data-driven heuristics, including proximity and ratios. Specifically, from a total of a 3952 fake articles for three different medical conditions, the algorithm was trained using only 100 articles, but calibrated using folds of 100 articles. As for the classification step, it was performed using 300 articles per condition. The actual label steps took place against an equal mix of 50 generated articles and 50 authentic PubMed abstracts. The testing also spanned publication periods from 2010 to 2024 and encompassed research on three distinct diseases: cancer, depression, and Alzheimer's. Further, we evaluated the accuracy of the xFakeSci algorithm against some of the classical data mining algorithms (e.g., Support Vector Machines, Regression, and Naive Bayes). The xFakeSci algorithm achieved F1 scores ranging from 80 to 94%, outperforming common data mining algorithms, which scored F1 values between 38 and 52%. We attribute the noticeable difference to the introduction of calibration and a proximity distance heuristic, which underscores this promising performance. Indeed, the prediction of fake science generated by ChatGPT presents a considerable challenge. The study aims to investigate the predictive capability of machine learning algorithms for omental metastasis in locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) and to compare the performance metrics of various machine learning predictive models. A retrospective collection of 478 pathologically confirmed LAGC patients was undertaken, encompassing both clinical features and arterial phase computed tomography images. Radiomic features were extracted using 3D Slicer software. Clinical and radiomic features were further filtered through lasso regression. Selected clinical and radiomic features were used to construct omental metastasis predictive models using support vector machine (SVM), decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), and logistic regression (LR). The models' performance metrics included accuracy, area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV). In the training cohort, the RF predictive model surpassed LR, SVM, DT, and KNN in terms of accuracy, AUC, sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV. Compared to the other four predictive models, the RF model significantly improved PPV. In the test cohort, all five machine learning predictive models exhibited lower PPVs. The DT model demonstrated the most significant variation in performance metrics relative to the other models, with a sensitivity of 0.231 and specificity of 0.990. The LR-based predictive model had the lowest PPV at 0.210, compared to the other four models. In the external validation cohort, the performance metrics of the predictive models were generally consistent with those in the test cohort. The LR-based model for predicting omental metastasis exhibited a lower PPV. The aim of this study was to develop and validate predictive models for assessing the risk of death in patients with acute diquat (DQ) poisoning using innovative machine learning techniques. Additionally, predictive models were evaluated through the application of SHapley Additive ExPlanations (SHAP). A total of 201 consecutive patients from the emergency departments of the First Hospital and Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University admitted for deliberate oral intake of DQ from February 2018 to August 2023 were analysed. The initial clinical data of the patients with acute DQ poisoning were collected. Machine learning methods such as logistic regression, random forest, support vector machine (SVM), and gradient boosting were applied to build the prediction models. The whole sample was split into a training set and a test set at a ratio of 8:2. The performances of these models were assessed in terms of discrimination, calibration, and clinical decision curve analysis (DCA). We also used the SHAP interpretation tool to provide an intuitive explanation of the risk of death in patients with DQ poisoning. Logistic regression, random forest, SVM, and gradient boosting models were established, and the areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) were 0.91, 0.98, 0.96 and 0.94, respectively. The models are trained and tested on extensive field data collected from diverse drivers across varying conditions. Historically, the analysis of stimulus-dependent time–frequency patterns has been the cornerstone of most electroencephalography (EEG) studies. The abnormal oscillations in high-frequency waves associated with psychotic disorders during sensory and cognitive tasks have been studied many times. However, any significant dissimilarity in the resting-state low-frequency bands is yet to be established. Spectral analysis of the alpha and delta band waves shows the effectiveness of stimulus-independent EEG in identifying the abnormal activity patterns of pathological brains. A generalized model incorporating multiple frequency bands should be more efficient in associating potential EEG biomarkers with first-episode psychosis (FEP), leading to an accurate diagnosis. We explore multiple machine-learning methods, including random-forest, support vector machine, and Gaussian process classifier (GPC), to demonstrate the practicality of resting-state power spectral density (PSD) to distinguish patients of FEP from healthy controls. A comprehensive discussion of our preprocessing methods for PSD analysis and a detailed comparison of different models are included in this paper. The GPC model outperforms the other models with a specificity of 95.78% to show that PSD can be used as an effective feature extraction technique for analyzing and classifying resting-state EEG signals of psychiatric disorders. Abstract As construction technology and project management develop, structural monitoring systems become increasingly important for ensuring large-span spatial structure safety during construction and operation. However, most of the sensors and monitoring equipment in monitoring systems are poorly serviced, resulting in frequent abnormal monitoring data, which directly leads to challenges in data analysis and structural safety assessment. In this paper, a structural response recovery method based on a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network is proposed by studying the autocorrelation of data and the spatial correlations among data at multiple measurement points. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method are verified using the monitored stress data for a grid structure jacking construction process, and the influence of different data loss rates on the recovery accuracy is analysed. The recovery models are compared using a support vector machine and a Multi-Layer Perception (MLP) neural network. The proposed method can effectively restore missing data; notably, the MSE index is 0.6, and the MAPE is below 15%. The data restoration method based on the LSTM neural network is more accurate than the traditional method. Finally, the repair applicability of various types of monitored data is verified using the monitoring data from Hall F of Qingdao Jiao-dong International Airport under typhoon conditions.

Technology offers a lot of potential that is being used to improve the integrity and efficiency of infrastructures. Crack is one of the major concerns that can affect the integrity or usability of any structure. Oftentimes, the use of manual inspection methods leads to delays which can worsen the situation. Automated crack detection has become very necessary for efficient management and inspection of critical infrastructures. Previous research in crack detection employed classification and localization-based models using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNNs). This study suggests and compares the effectiveness of transfer learned DCNNs for crack detection as a classification model and as a feature extractor to overcome this restriction. The main objective of this paper is to present various methods of crack detection on surfaces and compare their performance over 3 different datasets. Experiments conducted in this work are threefold: initially, the effectiveness of 12 transfer learned DCNN models for crack detection is analyzed on three publicly available datasets: SDNET, CCIC and BSD. With an accuracy of 53.40%, ResNet101 outperformed other models on the SDNET dataset. EfficientNetB0 was the most accurate (98.8%) model on the BSD dataset, and ResNet50 performed better with an accuracy of 99.8% on the CCIC dataset. Secondly, two image enhancement methods are employed to enhance the images and are transferred learned on the 12 DCNNs in pursuance of improving the performance of the SDNET dataset. The results from the experiments show that the enhanced images improved the accuracy of transfer-learned crack detection models significantly. Furthermore, deep features extracted from the last fully connected layer of the DCNNs are used to train the Support Vector Machine (SVM). The integration of deep features with SVM enhanced the detection accuracy across all the DCNN-dataset combinations, according to analysis in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. In the food industry, the increasing use of automatic processes in the production line is contributing to the higher probability of finding contaminants inside food packages. Detecting these contaminants before sending the products to market has become a critical necessity. This paper presents a pioneering real-time system for detecting contaminants within food and beverage products by integrating microwave (MW) sensing technology with machine learning (ML) tools. Considering the prevalence of water and oil as primary components in many food and beverage items, the proposed technique is applied to both media. The approach involves a thorough examination of the MW sensing system, from selecting appropriate frequency bands to characterizing the antenna in its near-field region. The process culminates in the collection of scattering parameters to create the datasets, followed by classification using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) learning algorithm. Binary and multiclass classifications are performed on two types of datasets, including those with complex numbers and amplitude data only. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory disease that affects the colon and rectum. The response to treatment varies among individuals with UC. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify and explore potential biomarkers for different subtypes of UC and examine their association with immune cell infiltration. We obtained UC RNA sequencing data from the GEO database, which included the training set GSE92415 and the validation set GSE87473 and GSE72514. UC patients were classified based on GLS and its associated genes using consensus clustering analysis. We identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in different UC subtypes through a differential expression analysis of the training cohort. Machine learning algorithms, including Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA), Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO), and Support Vector Machine Recursive Feature Elimination (SVM-RFE), were utilized to identify marker genes for UC. The CIBERSORT algorithm was used to determine the abundance of various immune cells in UC and their correlation with UC signature genes. Finally, we validated the expression of GLS through in vivo and ex vivo experiments. The expression of GLS was found to be elevated in patients with UC compared to normal patients. GLS and its related genes were able to classify UC patients into two subtypes, C1 and C2. The C1 subtype, as compared to the C2 subtype, showed a higher Mayo score and poorer treatment response. A total of 18 DEGs were identified in both subtypes, including 7 up-regulated and 11 down-regulated genes. Four UC signature genes (CWH43, HEPACAM2, IL24, and PCK1) were identified and their diagnostic value was validated in a separate cohort (AUC > 0.85). Furthermore, we found that UC signature biomarkers were linked to the immune cell infiltration. CWH43, HEPACAM2, IL24, and PCK1 may serve as potential biomarkers for diagnosing different subtypes of UC, which could contribute to the development of targeted molecular therapy and immunotherapy for UC. Predicting the biological characteristics of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is essential for personalized treatment. This study explored the role of ultrasound-based radiomics of peritumoral tissues for predicting HCC features, focusing on differentiation, cytokeratin 7 (CK7) and Ki67 expression, and p53 mutation status. A cohort of 153 patients with HCC underwent ultrasound examinations and radiomics features were extracted from peritumoral tissues. Subgroups were formed based on HCC characteristics. Predictive modeling was carried out using the XGBOOST algorithm in the differentiation subgroup, logistic regression in the CK7 and Ki67 expression subgroups, and support vector machine learning in the p53 mutation status subgroups. The predictive models demonstrated robust performance, with areas under the curves of 0.815 (0.683–0.948) in the differentiation subgroup, 0.922 (0.785–1) in the CK7 subgroup, 0.762 (0.618–0.906) in the Ki67 subgroup, and 0.849 (0.667–1) in the p53 mutation status subgroup. Confusion matrices and waterfall plots highlighted the good performance of the models. Comprehensive evaluation was carried out using SHapley Additive exPlanations plots, which revealed notable contributions from wavelet filter features. Mycotoxin contamination of agricultural commodities is a global public health problem that has remained elusive to various mitigation approaches, particularly in developing countries. Climate change and its impact exacerbates South Africa's vulnerability to mycotoxin contamination, and significantly threatens its's food systems, public health, and agro-economic development. Herein we analyse sixteen years (2005/2006–2020/2021) of annual national meteorological data on South Africa which reveals both systematic and erratic variability in critical climatic factors known to influence mycotoxin contamination in crops. Within the same study period, data on fumonisin (FB) monitoring show clear climate-dependent trends. The strongest positive warming trend is observed between 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 (0.51 °C/year), and a strong positive correlation is likewise established between FB contamination and temperature (r ranging from 0.6 to 0.9). Four machine learning models, viz support vector machines, eXtreme gradient boosting, random forest, and orthogonal partial least squares, are generalized on the historical data with suitable performance (RMSE as low as 0.00). All the adopted models are able to predict future FB contamination patterns with reasonable precision (R2 ranging from 0.34 to 1.00). The most important model feature for predicting average FB contamination (YA) is the historical pattern of average FB contamination in maize within the region (ΣFBs_avg). The two most significant features in modelling maximum FB contamination (YM) are minimum temperature from the CMIP6 data (Pro_tempMIN) and observed precipitation from the CRU data (O_prep). Our study provides strong evidence of the impact of climate change on FB in South Africa and reiterates the significance of machine learning modelling in predicting mycotoxin contamination in light of changing climatic conditions, which could facilitate early warnings and the adoption of relevant mitigation measures that could help in mycotoxin risk management and control. This study performed three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based statistical shape analysis (SSA) by comparing patellofemoral instability (PFI) and normal femur models, and developed a machine learning (ML)-based prediction model. Twenty (19 patients) and 31 MRI scans (30 patients) of femurs with PFI and normal femurs, respectively, were used. Bone and cartilage segmentation of the distal femurs was performed and subsequently converted into 3D reconstructed models. The pointwise distance map showed anterior elevation of the trochlea, particularly at the central floor of the proximal trochlea, in the PFI models compared with the normal models. Principal component analysis examined shape variations in the PFI group, and several principal components exhibited shape variations in the trochlear floor and intercondylar width. Multivariate analysis showed that these shape components were significantly correlated with the PFI/non-PFI distinction after adjusting for age and sex. Our ML-based prediction model for PFI achieved a strong predictive performance with an accuracy of 0.909 ± 0.015, and an area under the curve of 0.939 ± 0.009 when using a support vector machine with a linear kernel. Automated disease diagnosis and prediction, powered by AI, play a crucial role in enabling medical professionals to deliver effective care to patients. While such predictive tools have been extensively explored in resource-rich languages like English, this manuscript focuses on predicting disease categories automatically from symptoms documented in the Afaan Oromo language, employing various classification algorithms. This study encompasses machine learning techniques such as support vector machines, random forests, logistic regression, and Naïve Bayes, as well as deep learning approaches including LSTM, GRU, and Bi-LSTM. Due to the unavailability of a standard corpus, we prepared three data sets with different numbers of patient symptoms arranged into 10 categories. The two feature representations, TF-IDF and word embedding, were employed. The performance of the proposed methodology has been evaluated using accuracy, recall, precision, and F1 score. The experimental results show that, among machine learning models, the SVM model using TF-IDF had the highest accuracy and F1 score of 94.7%, while the LSTM model using word2vec embedding showed an accuracy rate of 95.7% and F1 score of 96.0% from deep learning models. To enhance the optimal performance of each model, several hyper-parameter tuning settings were used. Luster is one of the vital indexes in pearl grading. To find a fast, nondestructive, and low-cost grading method, optical coherence tomography (OCT) is introduced to predict the luster grade through the texture features. After background removal, flattening, and segmentation, the speckle pattern of the region of interest is described by seven kinds of feature textures, including center-symmetric auto-correlation (CSAC), fractal dimension (FD), Gabor, gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), histogram of oriented gradients (HOG), laws texture energy (LAWS), and local binary patterns (LBP). To find the relations between speckle-derived texture features and luster grades, four Four groups of pearl samples were used in the experiment to detect texture differences based on support vector machines (SVMs) and random forest classifier (RFC)) for investigating the relations between speckle-derived texture features and luster grades. The precision, recall, F1-score, and accuracy are more significant than 0.9 in several simulations, even after dimension reduction. The (re)hemorrhage in patients with sporadic cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) was the primary aim for CCM management. However, accurately identifying the potential (re)hemorrhage among sporadic CCM patients in advance remains a challenge. This study aims to develop machine learning models to detect potential (re)hemorrhage in sporadic CCM patients. This study was based on a dataset of 731 sporadic CCM patients in open data platform Dryad. Sporadic CCM patients were followed up 5 years from January 2003 to December 2018. Support vector machine (SVM), stacked generalization, and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) were used to construct models. The performance of models was evaluated by area under receiver operating characteristic curves (AUROC), area under the precision-recall curve (PR-AUC) and other metrics. A total of 517 patients with sporadic CCM were included (330 female [63.8%], mean [SD] age at diagnosis, 42.1 [15.5] years). 76 (re)hemorrhage (14.7%) occurred during follow-up. Among 3 machine learning models, XGBoost model yielded the highest mean (SD) AUROC (0.87 [0.06]) in cross-validation. The top 4 features of XGBoost model were ranked with SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations). All-Elements XGBoost model achieved an AUROCs of 0.84 and PR-AUC of 0.49 in testing set, with a sensitivity of 0.86 and a specificity of 0.76. Importantly, 4-Elements XGBoost model developed using top 4 features got a AUROCs of 0.83 and PR-AUC of 0.40, a sensitivity of 0.79, and a specificity of 0.72 in testing set. Two machine learning-based models achieved accurate performance in identifying potential (re)hemorrhages within 5 years in sporadic CCM patients. The creation of protected areas (PAs) is not always based on science; consequently, some aquatic species may not receive the same level of protection as terrestrial ones. The objective of this study was to identify priority areas for the conservation of chelonians in the Brazilian Amazon basin and assess the contribution of PAs, distinguishing between Full Protection Areas, Sustainable Use Areas, and Indigenous Lands for group protection. The entire species modeling procedure was carried out using Species Distribution Models. Location records were obtained from platforms such as SpeciesLink, GBIF, the Hydroatlas database, and WorldClim for bioclimatic variables adjusted with algorithms like Maximum Entropy, Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, and Gaussian-Bayesian. Indigenous lands cover more than 50% of the distribution areas of chelonian species in the Brazilian Amazon. Protected areas with higher conservation importance (Full Protection Areas and Sustainable Use Areas) hold less than 15% of the combined species distribution. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. The fusion of deep neural networks with the pulse induction-based MMD not only presents a cost-effective solution but also significantly expedites decision-making processes in de-mining operations, ultimately contributing to improved safety and effectiveness in these critical endeavors. A prompt diagnosis of breast cancer in its earliest phases is necessary for effective treatment. While Computer-Aided Diagnosis systems play a crucial role in automated mammography image processing, interpretation, grading, and early detection of breast cancer, existing approaches face limitations in achieving optimal accuracy. This study addresses these limitations by hybridizing the improved quantum-inspired binary Grey Wolf Optimizer with the Support Vector Machines Radial Basis Function Kernel. This hybrid approach aims to enhance the accuracy of breast cancer classification by determining the optimal Support Vector Machine parameters. The motivation for this hybridization lies in the need for improved classification performance compared to existing optimizers such as Particle Swarm Optimization and Genetic Algorithm. Evaluate the efficacy of the proposed IQI-BGWO-SVM approach on the MIAS dataset, considering various metric parameters, including accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Furthermore, the application of IQI-BGWO-SVM for feature selection will be explored, and the results will be compared. Experimental findings demonstrate that the suggested IQI-BGWO-SVM technique outperforms state-of-the-art classification methods on the MIAS dataset, with a resulting mean accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 99.25%, 98.96%, and 100%, respectively, using a tenfold cross-validation datasets partition. The increased global warming has increased the likelihood of recurrent drought hazards. Potential links between the frequency of extreme weather events and global warming have been suggested by earlier research. The spatial variability of meteorological factors over short distances can cause distortions in conclusions or limit the scope of drought analysis in a particular region when extreme values predominate. Therefore, it is challenging to make trustworthy judgments regarding the spatiotemporal characteristics of regional drought. This study aims to improve the quality and accuracy of regional drought characterization and the process of continuous monitoring. The new drought indicator presented in this study is called the Support Vector Machine based drought index (SVM-DI). It is created by adding different weights to an SVM-based X-bar chart that is displayed with regional precipitation aggregate data. The SVM-DI application site is located in Pakistan's northern area. Using the Pearson correlation coefficient for pairwise comparison, the study compares the SVM-DI and the Regional Standard Precipitation Index (RSPI). Interestingly, compared to RSPI, SVM-DI shows more pronounced regional characteristics in its correlations with other meteorological stations, with a significantly lower Coefficient of Variation. These results confirm that SVM-DI is a useful tool for regional drought analysis. The abnormal heart conduction, known as arrhythmia, can contribute to cardiac diseases that carry the risk of fatal consequences. Healthcare professionals typically use electrocardiogram (ECG) signals and certain preliminary tests to identify abnormal patterns in a patient's cardiac activity. To assess the overall cardiac health condition, cardiac specialists monitor these activities separately. This procedure may be arduous and time-intensive, potentially impacting the patient's well-being. This study automates and introduces a novel solution for predicting the cardiac health conditions, specifically identifying cardiac morbidity and arrhythmia in patients by using invasive and non-invasive measurements. The experimental analyses conducted in medical studies entail extremely sensitive data and any partial or biased diagnoses in this field are deemed unacceptable. Therefore, this research aims to introduce a new concept of determining the uncertainty level of machine learning algorithms using information entropy. To assess the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms information entropy can be considered as a unique performance evaluator of the machine learning algorithm which is not selected previously any studies within the realm of bio-computational research. This experiment was conducted on arrhythmia and heart disease datasets collected from Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Berth Israel Hospital-arrhythmia (DB-1) and Cleveland Heart Disease (DB-2), respectively. Our framework consists of four significant steps: 1) Data acquisition, 2) Feature preprocessing approach, 3) Implementation of learning algorithms, and 4) Information Entropy. The results demonstrate the average performance in terms of accuracy achieved by the classification algorithms: Neural Network (NN) achieved 99.74%, K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) 98.98%, Support Vector Machine (SVM) 99.37%, Random Forest (RF) 99.76 % and Naïve Bayes (NB) 98.66% respectively. In the current study, we demonstrate the use of a quality framework to review the process for improving the quality and safety of the patient in the health care department. The researchers paid attention to assessing the performance of the health care service, where the data is usually heterogeneous to patient's health conditions. In our study, the support vector machine (SVM) regression model is used to handle the challenge of adjusting the risk factors attached to the patients. Further, the design of exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control charts is proposed based on the residuals obtained through SVM regression model. Analyzing real cardiac surgery patient data, we employed the SVM method to gauge patient condition. The resulting SVM-EWMA chart, fashioned via SVM modeling, revealed superior shift detection capabilities and demonstrated enhanced efficacy compared to the risk-adjusted EWMA control chart. The fluctuation of human infections by the Puumala orthohantavirus (PUUV) in Germany has been linked to weather and phenology parameters that drive the population growth of its host species. We quantified the annual PUUV-outbreaks at the district level by binarizing the reported infections in the period 2006–2021. With these labels we trained a model based on a support vector machine classifier for predicting local outbreaks and incidence well in advance. The feature selection for the optimal model was performed by a heuristic method and identified five monthly weather variables from the previous two years plus the beech flowering intensity of the previous year. The predictive power of the optimal model was assessed by a leave-one-out cross-validation in 16 years that led to an 82.8% accuracy for the outbreak and a 0.457 coefficient of determination for the incidence. Prediction risk maps for the entire endemic area in Germany will be annually available on a freely-accessible permanent online platform of the German Environment Agency.
