This study aimed to develop a quantitative analysis program of blood flow velocity by vessel diameter in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) subjects using high-speed swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography. This retrospective, observational, cross-sectional study included 10 eyes of healthy volunteers and 4 eyes of patients with representative nAMD. Novel scan patterns and variable interscan time analysis were utilized to measure the flow parameter, a surrogate marker of blood flow velocity, by vessel diameter within different depths. Detected vessels at superficial and deep as well as outer retinal regions were categorized into three vessel diameters (major vessels (> 40 μm), medium vessels (20–40 μm), and capillaries (< 20 μm)). The flow parameter increased with enlarged vessel diameter in all participants at superficial and deep layer. All nAMD subjects, except for type 3 macular neovascularization (MNV), contained a structure dominated by medium vessels at outer retinal region. The mean flow parameter at outer retinal region was type 1 MNV (1.46 ms−1), type 1 + 2 MNV (0.98 ms−1), and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, including branching vascular networks (1.46 ms−1). This program provides the possibility to extract the blood flow information at different depths by vessel diameter types, which is considered to be useful tool for evaluating nAMD pathology and activity. Current communication deals with the flow impact of blood inside cosine shape stenotic artery. The under consideration blood flow is treated as Newtonian fluid and flow is assumed to be two dimensional. The governing equation are modelled and solved by adopting similarity transformation under the stenosis assumptions. The important quantities like Prandtl number, flow parameter, blood flow rate and skin friction are attained to analyze the blood flow phenomena in stenosis. The variations of different parameters have been shown graphically. It is of interest to note that velocity increases due to change in flow parameter gamma and temperature of blood decreases by increasing nanoparticles volume fraction and Prandtl number. In the area of medicine, the most interesting nanotechnology approach is the nanoparticles applications in chemotherapy. This article scrutinizes blood circulation through an artery having magnetized hybrid nanoparticles (silver and gold) with multiple stenoses at the outer walls and erratic thrombus of different radii at the center. In the realm of biomedical innovation, magnetized hybrid nanoparticles emerge as a captivating frontier. These nanoparticles, amalgamating diverse materials, exhibit magnetic properties that engender novel prospects for targeted drug delivery, medical imaging enhancement, and therapeutic interventions. The study was carried out employing modern bio-fluid dynamics (BFD) software. In this iterative procedure, a second-order finite difference approach is used to solve the governing equations with 0.005 tolerance. The experiment is performed on a blood conduit with mild stenosis assumptions, and expressions of temperature, resistance impedance to flow, velocity, wall shear stress, and pressure gradient are generated by employing related boundary conditions. No one has ever attempted to acquire the remedial impact of an induced magnetic field and hybrid nanoparticles on the bloodstream in a tapering artery containing multiple stenoses on the outside walls and multi-thrombus at the center using 3-D bio-fluid simulation. Furthermore, the study's findings are unique, and these computational discoveries were not previously published by any researcher. The present study deals with the entropy generation analysis on the flow of an electrically conductive fluid (Blood) with Al 2 O 3 -suspended nanoparticles through the irregular stenosed artery with thrombosis on the catheter. The fluid flow can be actuated by the interactions of different physical phenomena like electroosmosis, radiation, Joule heating and a uniform radial magnetic field. The analysis of different shapes and sizes of the nanoparticle is considered by taking the Crocine model. The velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions are computed using the Crank–Nicholson method within the framework of the Debye–Huckel linearization approximation. In order to see how blood flow changes in response to different parameters, the velocity contour is calculated. The aluminium oxide nanoparticles employed in this research have several potential uses in biomedicine and biosensing. The surface's stability, biocompatibility, and reactivity may be enhanced by surface engineering, making the material effective for deoxyribonucleic acid sensing. It may be deduced that the velocity profile reduces as the nanoparticle's size grows while depicts the reverse trend for the shape size. In a region close to the walls, the entropy profile decreases, while in the region in the middle, it rises as the magnetic field parameter rises. The present study analyzes the theoretical consequences of slip effects in a complex stenosed region. The flow of blood in a stenosed region is incorporated with hybrid nanofluid features which are being prepared with copper and copper oxide nanoparticles. The flow is also intensified by applying an electric field in the axial direction. The governing equations for the proposed paradigm are solved and the corresponding closed-form solutions are obtained for the cases of mild stenosis. Parameters such as Electro-osmotic, velocity slip and Helmholtz–Smoluchowski are specially focused in this study. The heat transfer, hemodynamic velocity, wall shear stress and resistance impedance for the flow are precisely determined. The various parameters that influence the physical characteristics of flow are plotted, and their effects are discussed in detail. Computational fluid dynamics has been widely used to study hemodynamics, but accurately determining boundary conditions for turbulent blood flow remains challenging. This study aims to investigate the effect of patient-specific turbulence boundary conditions on the accuracy of turbulent flow simulation. Using a stenosis model with 50% severity in diameter, the post-stenosis turbulence flow region was simulated with different planes to obtain inlet boundary conditions and simulate downstream flows. The errors of simulated flow fields obtained with turbulence kinetic energy (TKE) boundary data and arbitrary turbulence intensity were compared. Additionally, the study tested various TKE data resolutions and noise levels to simulate experimental environments. The mean absolute error of velocity and TKE was investigated with various turbulence intensities and TKE mapping. While voxel size and signal-to-noise ratio of the TKE data affected the results, simulation with SNR > 5 and voxel size < 10% resulted in better accuracy than simulations with turbulence intensities. The simulation with appropriate TKE boundary data resulted in a more accurate velocity and turbulence field than those with arbitrary turbulence intensity boundary conditions. The study demonstrated the potential improvement of turbulent blood flow simulation with patient-specific turbulence boundary conditions, which can be obtained from recent measurement techniques. Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is caused by incomplete resolution and organization of thrombi. Blood flow dynamics are involved in thrombus formation; however, only a few studies have reported on pulmonary artery blood flow dynamics in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Furthermore, the effects of treatment interventions on pulmonary artery blood flow dynamics are not fully understood. The aim of the study was to evaluate pulmonary artery blood flow dynamics in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension before and after pulmonary endarterectomy and balloon pulmonary angioplasty, using computational fluid dynamics. We analyzed patient-specific pulmonary artery models of 10 patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and three controls using computational fluid dynamics. In patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, flow velocity and wall shear stress in the pulmonary arteries were significantly decreased, and the oscillatory shear index and blood stagnation volume were significantly increased than in controls. Pulmonary endarterectomy induced redistribution of pulmonary blood flow and improved blood flow dynamics in the pulmonary artery. Balloon pulmonary angioplasty improved pulmonary blood flow disturbance, decreased blood flow stagnation, and increased wall shear stress, leading to vasodilatation of the distal portion of the pulmonary artery following balloon pulmonary angioplasty treatment. Blood flow reflects the eye's health and is disrupted in many diseases. Many pathological processes take place at the cellular level like as microcirculation of blood in vessels, and the processing of medical images is a difficult recognition task. Existing techniques for measuring blood flow are limited due to the complex assumptions, equipment and calculations requirements. In this paper, we propose a method for determining the blood flow characteristics in eye conjunctiva vessels, such as linear and volumetric blood speed and topological characteristics of the vascular net. The method preprocesses the video to improve the conditions of analysis and then builds an integral optical flow for definition of flow dynamical characteristic of eye vessels. These characteristics make it possible to determine changes in blood flow in eye vessels. We show the efficiency of our method in natural eye vessel scenes. The simulation of blood hemodynamics inside the MCA aneurysm is done to investigate the potential region for rupture and hemorrhage. The main focus of this work is to disclose the impacts of endovascular coiling on blood hemodynamics and the risk of aneurysm rupture. Navier–stokes equations are solved for the computational study of blood flow while it is assumed that flow remains laminar, unsteady, and non-Newtonian. Influences of blood hematocrits and coiling porosity are also examined in this work. Obtained results show that impacts of blood hematocrit on the maximum OSI are limited in the MCA case. The blood flow through stenotic artery is one of the important research area in computational fluid mechanics due to its application in biomedicine. Aim of this research work is to investigate the impact of nanoparticles on the characteristics of human blood flow in a stenosed blood artery. In under consideration problem Newtonian fluid is assumed as human blood. Newtonian fluid flows through large blood vessels (more than 300 μm). The constitutive equations together with the boundary conditions are diminished to non-dimensional form by using boundary layer approximation and similarity transfiguration to attain the solution of velocity and temperature distribution of blood flow through arterial stenosis numerically with the help of Matlab bvp4c. The results for physical quantities at cylindrical surface are calculated and their effects are also presented through tables. The heat transfer rate increases throughout the stenosed artery with the concentration of copper nanoparticle. Velocity curve decreases by increasing the values of flow parameter and nanoparticle volume fraction. We propose to synthesize patient-specific 4D flow MRI datasets of turbulent flow paired with ground truth flow data to support training of inference methods. Turbulent blood flow is computed based on the Navier–Stokes equations with moving domains using realistic boundary conditions for aortic shapes, wall displacements and inlet velocities obtained from patient data. From the simulated flow, synthetic multipoint 4D flow MRI data is generated with user-defined spatiotemporal resolutions and reconstructed with a Bayesian approach to compute time-varying velocity and turbulence maps. For MRI data synthesis, a fixed hypothetical scan time budget is assumed and accordingly, changes to spatial resolution and time averaging result in corresponding scaling of signal-to-noise ratios (SNR). In this work, we focused on aortic stenotic flow and quantification of turbulent kinetic energy (TKE). Our results show that for spatial resolutions of 1.5 and 2.5 mm and time averaging of 5 ms as encountered in 4D flow MRI in practice, peak total turbulent kinetic energy downstream of a 50, 75 and 90% stenosis is overestimated by as much as 23, 15 and 14% (1.5 mm) and 38, 24 and 23% (2.5 mm), demonstrating the importance of paired ground truth and 4D flow MRI data for assessing accuracy and precision of turbulent flow inference using 4D flow MRI exams. The study of turbulence in physiologic blood flow is important due to its strong relevance to endothelial mechanobiology and vascular disease. Recently, Saqr et al. (Sci Rep 10, 15,492, 2020) discovered non-Kolmogorov turbulence in physiologic blood flow in vivo, traced its origins to the Navier–Stokes equation and demonstrated some of its properties using chaos and hydrodynamic-stability theories. The present work extends these findings and investigates some inherent characteristics of non-Kolmogorov turbulence in monoharmonic and multiharmonic pulsatile flow under ideal physiologic conditions. The purpose of this work is to propose a conjecture for the origins for picoNewton forces that are known to regulate endothelial cells' functions. The new conjecture relates these forces to physiologic momentum-viscous interactions in the near-wall region of the flow. Here, we used high-resolution large eddy simulation (HRLES) to study pulsatile incompressible flow in a straight pipe of L / D = 20 . The simulations presented Newtonian and Carreau–Yasuda fluid flows, at R e m ≈ 250 , each represented by one, two and three boundary harmonics. Comparison was established based on maintaining constant time-averaged mass flow rate in all simulations. First, we report the effect of primary harmonics on the global power budget using primitive variables in phase space. Second, we describe the non-Kolmogorov turbulence in frequency domain. Third, we investigate the near-wall coherent structures in time and space domains. Finally, we propose a new conjecture for the role of turbulence in endothelial cells' mechanobiology. Fluid structure interaction (FSI) gained attention of researchers and scientist due to its applications in science fields like biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering etc. One of the major application in FSI is to study elastic wall behavior of stenotic arteries. In this paper we discussed an incompressible Non-Newtonian blood flow analysis in an elastic bifurcated artery. A magnetic field is applied along x direction. For coupling of the problem an Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian formulation is used by two-way fluid structure interaction. To discretize the problem, we employed P 2 P 1 finite element technique to approximate the velocity, displacement and pressure and then linearized system of equations is solved using Newton iteration method. Analysis is carried out for power law index, Reynolds number and Hartmann number. Hemodynamic effects on elastic walls, stenotic artery and bifurcated region are evaluated by using velocity profile, pressure and loads on the walls. Study shows there is significant increase in wall shear stresses with an increase in Power law index and Hartmann number. While as expected increase in Reynolds number decreases the wall shear stresses. Also load on the upper wall is calculated against Hartmann number for different values of power law index. Results show load increases as the Hartmann number and power law index increases. From hemodynamic point of view, the load on the walls is minimum for shear thinning case but when power law index increased i.e. for shear thickening case load on the walls increased. The current work analyzes the effects of concentric ballooned catheterization and heat transfer on the hybrid nano blood flow through diseased arterial segment having both stenosis and aneurysm along its boundary. A fractional second-grade fluid model is considered which describes the non-Newtonian characteristics of the blood. Governing equations are linearized under mild stenosis and mild aneurysm assumptions. Precise articulations for various important flow characteristics such as heat transfer, hemodynamic velocity, wall shear stress, and resistance impedance are attained. Graphical portrayals for the impact of the significant parameters on the flow attributes have been devised. The streamlines of blood flow have been examined as well. A method was established using a scaffold-bioreactor system to examine the impact pulsatile blood flow has on the decellularized porcine kidney vascular architecture and functionality. These scaffolds were subjected to continuous arterial perfusion of whole blood at normal physiological (650 ml/min and 500 ml/min) and pathophysiological (200 ml/min) rates to examine dynamic changes in venous outflow and micro-/macrovascular structure and patency. Scaffolds subjected to normal arterial perfusion rates observed drops in venous outflow over 24 h. These reductions rose from roughly 40% after 12 h to 60% after 24 h. There were no apparent signs of clotting at the renal artery, renal vein, and ureter. In comparison, venous flow rates decreased by 80% to 100% across the 24 h in acellular scaffolds hypoperfused at a rate of 200 ml/min. These kidneys also appeared intact on the surface after perfusion. However, they presented several arterial, venous, and ureteral clots. Fluoroscopic angiography confirmed substantial alterations to normal arterial branching patterns and patency, as well as parenchymal damage. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that pulsatile blood perfusion significantly disrupted glomerular microarchitecture. This study provides new insight into circumstances that limit scaffold viability and a simplified model to analyze conditions needed to prepare more durable scaffolds for long-term transplantation.
