There is increasing focus on applying deep learning methods to electrocardiograms (ECGs), with recent studies showing that neural networks (NNs) can predict future heart failure or atrial fibrillation from the ECG alone. However, large numbers of ECGs are needed to train NNs, and many ECGs are currently only in paper format, which are not suitable for NN training. We developed a fully-automated online ECG digitisation tool to convert scanned paper ECGs into digital signals. Using automated horizontal and vertical anchor point detection, the algorithm automatically segments the ECG image into separate images for the 12 leads and a dynamical morphological algorithm is then applied to extract the signal of interest. We then validated the performance of the algorithm on 515 digital ECGs, of which 45 were printed, scanned and redigitised. The automated digitisation tool achieved 99.0% correlation between the digitised signals and the ground truth ECG (n = 515 standard 3-by-4 ECGs) after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the performance of average correlation was from 90 to 97% across the leads on all 3-by-4 ECGs. There was a 97% correlation for 12-by-1 and 3-by-1 ECG formats after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the average correlation of some leads in 12-by-1 ECGs was 60-70% and the average correlation of 3-by-1 ECGs achieved 80-90%. ECGs that were printed, scanned, and redigitised, our tool achieved 96% correlation with the original signals. We have developed and validated a fully-automated, user-friendly, online ECG digitisation tool. Unlike other available tools, this does not require any manual segmentation of ECG signals. There is a growing number of publicly available ophthalmic imaging datasets and open-source code for Machine Learning algorithms. This allows ophthalmic researchers and practitioners to independently perform various deep-learning tasks. With the advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) and in the field of imaging, the choice of the most appropriate AI architecture for different tasks will vary greatly. The best-performing AI-dataset combination will depend on the specific problem that needs to be solved and the type of data available. The article discusses different machine learning models and deep learning architectures currently used for various ophthalmic imaging modalities and for different machine learning tasks. It also proposes the most appropriate models based on accuracy and other important factors such as training time, the ability to deploy the model on clinical devices/smartphones, heatmaps that enhance the self-explanatory nature of classification decisions, and the ability to train/adapt on small image datasets to determine if further data collection is worthwhile. The article extensively reviews the existing state-of-the-art AI methods focused on useful machine-learning applications for ophthalmology. It estimates their performance and viability through training and evaluating architectures with different public and private image datasets of different modalities, such as full-color retinal images, OCT images, and 3D OCT scans. Crowd flow prediction has been studied for a variety of purposes, ranging from the private sector such as location selection of stores according to the characteristics of commercial districts and customer-tailored marketing to the public sector for social infrastructure design such as transportation networks. Its importance is even greater in light of the spread of contagious diseases such as COVID-19. In many cases, crowd flow can be divided into subgroups by common characteristics such as gender, age, location type, etc. If we use such hierarchical structure of the data effectively, we can improve prediction accuracy of crowd flow for subgroups. But the existing prediction models do not consider such hierarchical structure of the data. In this study, we propose a deep learning model based on global-local structure of the crowd flow data, which utilizes the overall(global) and subdivided by the types of sites(local) crowd flow data simultaneously to predict the crowd flow of each subgroup. The experiment result shows that the proposed model improves the prediction accuracy of each sub-divided subgroup by 5.2% (Table 5 Cat #9)-45.95% (Table 11 Cat #5), depending on the data set. This result comes from the comparison with the related works under the same condition that use target category data to predict each subgroup. In recent years, a variety of deep learning networks for cardiac MRI (CMR) segmentation have been developed and analyzed. However, nearly all of them are focused on cine CMR under breathold. In this work, accuracy of deep learning methods is assessed for volumetric analysis (via segmentation) of the left ventricle in real-time free-breathing CMR at rest and under exercise stress. Data from healthy volunteers (n = 15) for cine and real-time free-breathing CMR at rest and under exercise stress were analyzed retrospectively. Exercise stress was performed using an ergometer in the supine position. Segmentations of two deep learning methods, a commercially available technique (comDL) and an openly available network (nnU-Net), were compared to a reference model created via the manual correction of segmentations obtained with comDL. Segmentations of left ventricular endocardium (LV), left ventricular myocardium (MYO), and right ventricle (RV) are compared for both end-systolic and end-diastolic phases and analyzed with Dice's coefficient. The volumetric analysis includes the cardiac function parameters LV end-diastolic volume (EDV), LV end-systolic volume (ESV), and LV ejection fraction (EF), evaluated with respect to both absolute and relative differences. For cine CMR, nnU-Net and comDL achieve Dice's coefficients above 0.95 for LV and 0.9 for MYO, and RV. For real-time CMR, the accuracy of nnU-Net exceeds that of comDL overall. For real-time CMR at rest, nnU-Net achieves Dice's coefficients of 0.94 for LV, 0.89 for MYO, and 0.90 for RV and the mean absolute differences between nnU-Net and the reference are 2.9 mL for EDV, 3.5 mL for ESV, and 2.6% for EF. For real-time CMR under exercise stress, nnU-Net achieves Dice's coefficients of 0.92 for LV, 0.85 for MYO, and 0.83 for RV and the mean absolute differences between nnU-Net and reference are 11.4 mL for EDV, 2.9 mL for ESV, and 3.6% for EF. Deep learning methods designed or trained for cine CMR segmentation can perform well on real-time CMR. For real-time free-breathing CMR at rest, the performance of deep learning methods is comparable to inter-observer variability in cine CMR and is usable for fully automatic segmentation. COVID-19 has resulted in a significant global impact on health, the economy, education, and daily life. The disease can range from mild to severe, with individuals over 65 or those with underlying medical conditions being more susceptible to severe illness. Early testing and isolation are vital due to the virus's variable incubation period. Chest radiographs (CXR) have gained importance as a diagnostic tool due to their efficiency and reduced radiation exposure compared to CT scans. However, the sensitivity of CXR in detecting COVID-19 may be lower. This paper introduces a deep learning framework for accurate COVID-19 classification and severity prediction using CXR images. U-Net is used for lung segmentation, achieving a precision of 0.9924. Classification is performed using a Convulation-capsule network, with high true positive rates of 86% for COVID-19, 93% for pneumonia, and 85% for normal cases. Severity assessment employs ResNet50, VGG-16, and DenseNet201, with DenseNet201 showing superior accuracy. Empirical results, validated with 95% confidence intervals, confirm the framework's reliability and robustness. Thyroid nodules are a common occurrence, and although most are non-cancerous, some can be malignant. The American College of Radiology has developed the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) to standardize the interpretation and reporting of thyroid ultrasound results. Within TI-RADS, a category 4 designation signifies a thyroid nodule with an intermediate level of suspicion for malignancy. Accurate classification of these nodules is crucial for proper management, as it can potentially reduce unnecessary surgeries and improve patient outcomes. This study utilized deep learning techniques to effectively classify TI-RADS category 4 thyroid nodules as either benign or malignant. A total of 500 patients were included in the study and randomly divided into a training group (350 patients) and a test group (150 patients). The YOLOv3 model was constructed and evaluated using various metrics, achieving an 84% accuracy in the classification of TI-RADS category 4 thyroid nodules. Based on the predictions of the model, along with clinical and ultrasound data, a nomogram was developed. The performance of the nomogram was superior in both the training and testing groups. Furthermore, the calibration curve demonstrated good agreement between predicted probabilities and actual outcomes. Decision curve analysis further confirmed that the nomogram provided greater net benefits. Ultimately, the YOLOv3 model and nomogram successfully improved the accuracy of distinguishing between benign and malignant TI-RADS category 4 thyroid nodules, which is crucial for proper management and improved patient outcomes., (© 2024. Accurately predicting population mortality rates is crucial for effective retirement insurance and economic policy formulation. Recent advancements in deep learning time series forecasting (DLTSF) have led to improved mortality rate predictions compared to traditional models like Lee-Carter (LC). This study focuses on mortality rate prediction in large clusters across Europe. By utilizing PCA dimensionality reduction and statistical clustering techniques, we integrate age features from high-dimensional mortality data of multiple countries, analyzing their similarities and differences. To capture the heterogeneous characteristics, an adaptive adjustment matrix is generated, incorporating sequential variation and spatial geographical information. Additionally, a combination of graph neural networks and a transformer network with an adaptive adjustment matrix is employed to capture the spatiotemporal features between different clusters. Extensive numerical experiments using data from the Human Mortality Database validate the superiority of the proposed GT-A model over traditional LC models and other classic neural networks in terms of prediction accuracy. The honey bee is the most essential pollinator and a key contributor to the natural ecosystem. There are numerous ways for thousands of bees in a hive to communicate with one another. Individual trajectories and social interactions are thus complex behavioral features that can provide valuable information for an ecological study. To study honey bee behavior, the key challenges that have resulted from unreliable studies include complexity (high density of similar objects, small objects, and occlusion), the variety of background scenes, the dynamism of individual bee movements, and the similarity between the bee body and the background in the beehive. This study investigated the tracking of individual bees in a beehive environment using a deep learning approach and a Kalman filter. Detection of multiple bees and individual object segmentation were performed using Mask R-CNN with a ResNet-101 backbone network. Subsequently, the Kalman filter was employed for tracking multiple bees by tracking the body of each bee across a sequence of image frames. Three metrics were used to assess the proposed framework: mean average precision (mAP) for multiple-object detection and segmentation tasks, CLEAR MOT for multiple object tracking tasks, and MOTS for multiple object tracking and segmentation tasks. For CLEAR MOT and MOTS metrics, accuracy (MOTA and MOTSA) and precision (MOTP and MOTSP) are considered. By employing videos from a custom-designed observation beehive, recorded at a frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps) and utilizing a continuous frame rate of 10 fps as input data, our system displayed impressive performance. It yielded satisfactory outcomes for tasks involving segmentation and tracking of multiple instances of bee behavior. For the multiple-object segmentation task based on Mask R-CNN, we achieved a 0.85 mAP. For the multiple-object-tracking task with the Kalman filter, we achieved 77.48% MOTA, 79.79% MOTSP, and 79.56% recall. Accurately classifying brain tumor types is critical for timely diagnosis and potentially saving lives. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a widely used non-invasive method for obtaining high-contrast grayscale brain images, primarily for tumor diagnosis. The application of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in deep learning has revolutionized diagnostic systems, leading to significant advancements in medical imaging interpretation. In this study, we employ a transfer learning-based fine-tuning approach using EfficientNets to classify brain tumors into three categories: glioma, meningioma, and pituitary tumors. We utilize the publicly accessible CE-MRI Figshare dataset to fine-tune five pre-trained models from the EfficientNets family, ranging from EfficientNetB0 to EfficientNetB4. Our approach involves a two-step process to refine the pre-trained EfficientNet model. First, we initialize the model with weights from the ImageNet dataset. Then, we add additional layers, including top layers and a fully connected layer, to enable tumor classification. We conduct various tests to assess the robustness of our fine-tuned EfficientNets in comparison to other pre-trained models. Additionally, we analyze the impact of data augmentation on the model's test accuracy. To gain insights into the model's decision-making, we employ Grad-CAM visualization to examine the attention maps generated by the most optimal model, effectively highlighting tumor locations within brain images. Our results reveal that using EfficientNetB2 as the underlying framework yields significant performance improvements. Agriculture plays a pivotal role in the economies of developing countries by providing livelihoods, sustenance, and employment opportunities in rural areas. However, crop diseases pose a significant threat to both farmers' incomes and food security. Furthermore, these diseases also show adverse effects on human health by causing various illnesses. Till date, only a limited number of studies have been conducted to identify and classify diseased cauliflower plants but they also face certain challenges such as insufficient disease surveillance mechanisms, the lack of comprehensive datasets that are properly labelled as well as are of high quality, and the considerable computational resources that are necessary for conducting thorough analysis. In view of the aforementioned challenges, the primary objective of this manuscript is to tackle these significant concerns and enhance understanding regarding the significance of cauliflower disease identification and detection in rural agriculture through the use of advanced deep transfer learning techniques. The work is conducted on the four classes of cauliflower diseases i.e. Bacterial spot rot, Black rot, Downy Mildew, and No disease which are taken from VegNet dataset. Ten deep transfer learning models such as EfficientNetB0, Xception, EfficientNetB1, MobileNetV2, EfficientNetB2, DenseNet201, EfficientNetB3, InceptionResNetV2, EfficientNetB4, and ResNet152V2, are trained and examined on the basis of root mean square error, recall, precision, F1-score, accuracy, and loss. Remarkably, EfficientNetB1 achieved the highest validation accuracy (99.90%), lowest loss (0.16), and root mean square error (0.40) during experimentation. The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is transitioning into the endemic phase. Nonetheless, it is crucial to remain mindful that pandemics related to infectious respiratory diseases (IRDs) can emerge unpredictably. Therefore, we aimed to develop and validate a severity assessment model for IRDs, including COVID-19, influenza, and novel influenza, using CT images on a multi-centre data set. Of the 805 COVID-19 patients collected from a single centre, 649 were used for training and 156 were used for internal validation (D1). Additionally, three external validation sets were obtained from 7 cohorts: 1138 patients with COVID-19 (D2), and 233 patients with influenza and novel influenza (D3). A hybrid model, referred to as Hybrid-DDM, was constructed by combining two deep learning models and a machine learning model. Across datasets D1, D2, and D3, the Hybrid-DDM exhibited significantly improved performance compared to the baseline model. The areas under the receiver operating curves (AUCs) were 0.830 versus 0.767 (p = 0.036) in D1, 0.801 versus 0.753 (p < 0.001) in D2, and 0.774 versus 0.668 (p < 0.001) in D3. Pineapples are an important agricultural economic crop in Taiwan. Considerable human resources are required to protect pineapples from excessive solar radiation, which could otherwise lead to overheating and subsequent deterioration. Note that simple covering all of the fruit with a paper bag is not a viable solution, due to the fact that it makes it impossible to determine whether the fruit is ripe. This paper proposes a system by which to automate the detection of ripe pineapples. The proposed deep learning architecture enables detection regardless of lighting conditions, achieving accuracy of more than 99.27% with error of less than 2% at distances of 300 ~ 800 mm. In transportation, roads sometimes have cracks due to overloading and other reasons, which seriously affect driving safety, and it is crucial to identify and fill road cracks in time. Aiming at the defects of existing semantic segmentation models that have degraded the segmentation performance of road crack images and the standard convolution makes it challenging to capture the spatial and channel coupling relationship between pixels. It is difficult to differentiate crack pixels from background pixels in complex backgrounds; this paper proposes a semantic segmentation model for road cracks that combines channel-spatial convolution with the aggregation of frequency features. A new convolutional block is proposed to accurately identify cracked pixels by grouping spatial displacements and convolutional kernel weight dynamization while modeling pixel spatial relationships linked to channel features. To enhance the contrast of crack edges, a frequency domain feature aggregation module is proposed, which uses a simple windowing strategy to solve the problem of mismatch of frequency domain inputs and, at the same time, takes into account the effect of the frequency imaginary part on the features to model the deep frequency features effectively. Finally, a feature refinement module is designed to refine the semantic features to improve the segmentation accuracy. This research introduces a new combined modelling approach for mapping soil salinity in the Minab plain in southern Iran. This study assessed the uncertainty (with 95% confidence limits) and interpretability of two deep learning (DL) models (deep boltzmann machine-DBM) and a one dimensional convolutional neural networks (1DCNN)-long short-term memory (LSTM) hybrid model (1DCNN-LSTM) for mapping soil salinity by applying DeepQuantreg and game theory (Shapely Additive exPlanations (SHAP) and permutation feature importance measure (PFIM)), respectively. Based on stepwise forward regression (SFR)-a technique for controlling factor selection, 18 of 47 potential controls were selected as effective factors. Inventory maps of soil salinity were generated based on 476 surface soil samples collected for measuring electrical conductivity (ECe). Based on Taylor diagrams, both DL models performed well (RMSE &lt; 20%), but the 1DCNN-LSTM hybrid model performed slightly better than the DBM model. The uncertainty range associated with the ECe values predicted by both models estimated using DeepQuantilreg were similar (0-25 dS/m for the 1DCNN-LSTM hybrid model and 2-27 dS/m for DBM model). Based on the SFR and PFIM (permutation feature importance measure)-a measure in game theory, four controls (evaporation, sand content, precipitation and vertical distance to channel) were selected as the most important factors for soil salinity in the study area. The results of SHAP (Shapely Additive exPlanations)-the second measure used in game theory-suggested that five factors (evaporation, vertical distance to channel, sand content, cation exchange capacity (CEC) and digital elevation model (DEM)) have the strongest impact on model outputs. The Internet era is an era of information explosion. By 2022, the global Internet users have reached more than 4 billion, and the social media users have exceeded 3 billion. People face a lot of news content every day, and it is almost impossible to get interesting information by browsing all the news content. Under this background, personalized news recommendation technology has been widely used, but it still needs to be further optimized and improved. In order to better push the news content of interest to different readers, users' satisfaction with major news websites should be further improved. This study proposes a new recommendation algorithm based on deep learning and reinforcement learning. Firstly, the RL algorithm is introduced based on deep learning. Deep learning is excellent in processing large-scale data and complex pattern recognition, but it often faces the challenge of low sample efficiency when it comes to complex decision-making and sequential tasks. While reinforcement learning (RL) emphasizes learning optimization strategies through continuous trial and error through interactive learning with the environment. Compared with deep learning, RL is more suitable for scenes that need long-term decision-making and trial-and-error learning. By feeding back the reward signal of the action, the system can better adapt to the unknown environment and complex tasks, which makes up for the relative shortcomings of deep learning in these aspects. A scenario is applied to an action to solve the sequential decision problem in the news dissemination process. In order to enable the news recommendation system to consider the dynamic changes in users' interest in news content, the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient algorithm is applied to the news recommendation scenario. Opposing learning complements and combines Deep Q-network with the strategic network. On the basis of fully summarizing and thinking, this paper puts forward the mode of intelligent news dissemination and push. The push process of news communication information based on edge computing technology is proposed. Finally, based on Area Under Curve a Q-Leaning Area Under Curve for RL models is proposed. This indicator can measure the strengths and weaknesses of RL models efficiently and facilitates comparing models and evaluating offline experiments. The results show that the DDPG algorithm improves the click-through rate by 2.586% compared with the conventional recommendation algorithm. It shows that the algorithm designed in this paper has more obvious advantages in accurate recommendation by users. This paper effectively improves the efficiency of news dissemination by optimizing the push mode of intelligent news dissemination. In addition, the paper also deeply studies the innovative application of intelligent edge technology in news communication, which brings new ideas and practices to promote the development of news communication methods. Cerebral microhemorrhages (CMHs) are associated with cerebrovascular disease, cognitive impairment, and normal aging. One method to study CMHs is to analyze histological sections (5-40 μm) stained with Prussian blue. Currently, users manually and subjectively identify and quantify Prussian blue-stained regions of interest, which is prone to inter-individual variability and can lead to significant delays in data analysis. To improve this labor-intensive process, we developed and compared three digital pathology approaches to identify and quantify CMHs from Prussian blue-stained brain sections: (1) ratiometric analysis of RGB pixel values, (2) phasor analysis of RGB images, and (3) deep learning using a mask region-based convolutional neural network. We applied these approaches to a preclinical mouse model of inflammation-induced CMHs. One-hundred CMHs were imaged using a 20 × objective and RGB color camera. To determine the ground truth, four users independently annotated Prussian blue-labeled CMHs. The deep learning and ratiometric approaches performed better than the phasor analysis approach compared to the ground truth. The deep learning approach had the most precision of the three methods. The ratiometric approach has the most versatility and maintained accuracy, albeit with less precision. Our data suggest that implementing these methods to analyze CMH images can drastically increase the processing speed while maintaining precision and accuracy.

Building extraction aims to extract building pixels from remote sensing imagery, which plays a significant role in urban planning, dynamic urban monitoring, and many other applications. UNet3+ is widely applied in building extraction from remote sensing images. However, it still faces issues such as low segmentation accuracy, imprecise boundary delineation, and the complexity of network models. Therefore, based on the UNet3+ model, this paper proposes a 3D Joint Attention (3DJA) module that effectively enhances the correlation between local and global features, obtaining more accurate object semantic information and enhancing feature representation. The 3DJA module models semantic interdependence in the vertical and horizontal dimensions to obtain feature map spatial encoding information, as well as in the channel dimensions to increase the correlation between dependent channel graphs. In addition, a bottleneck module is constructed to reduce the number of network parameters and improve model training efficiency. Many experiments are conducted on publicly accessible WHU,INRIA and Massachusetts building dataset, and the benchmarks, BOMSC-Net, CVNet, SCA-Net, SPCL-Net, ACMFNet, MFCF-Net models are selected for comparison with the 3DJA-UNet3+ model proposed in this paper. The experimental results show that 3DJA-UNet3+ achieves competitive results in three evaluation indicators: overall accuracy, mean intersection over union, and F1-score. Deep learning (DL) is a widely applied mathematical modeling technique. Classically, DL models utilize large volumes of training data, which are not available in many healthcare contexts. For patients with brain tumors, non-invasive diagnosis would represent a substantial clinical advance, potentially sparing patients from the risks associated with surgical intervention on the brain. Such an approach will depend upon highly accurate models built using the limited datasets that are available. Herein, we present a novel genetic algorithm (GA) that identifies optimal architecture parameters using feature embeddings from state-of-the-art image classification networks to identify the pediatric brain tumor, adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP). We optimized classification models for preoperative Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and combined CT and MRI datasets with demonstrated test accuracies of 85.3%, 83.3%, and 87.8%, respectively. Notably, our GA improved baseline model performance by up to 38%. This work advances DL and its applications within healthcare by identifying optimized networks in small-scale data contexts. The proposed system is easily implementable and scalable for non-invasive computer-aided diagnosis, even for uncommon diseases.

Aiming at the problems of insufficient extraction of asynchronous motor fault features by traditional deep learning algorithms and poor diagnosis of asynchronous motor faults in robust noise environments, this paper proposes an end-to-end fault diagnosis method for asynchronous motors based on IInception-CBAM-IBiGRU. The method first uses a signal-to-grayscale image conversion method to convert one-dimensional vibration signals into two-dimensional images and initially extracts shallow features through two-dimensional convolution; then the Improved Inception (IInception) module is used as a residual block to learning features at different scales with a residual structure, and extracts its important feature information through the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) to extract important feature information and adjust the weight parameters; then the feature information is input to the Improved Bi-directional Gate Recurrent Unit (IBiGRU) to extract its timing features further; finally, the fault identification is achieved by the SoftMax function. This paper aims to propose a table tennis target detection (TD) method based on deep learning (DL) and multi-scale feature fusion (MFF) to improve the detection accuracy of the ball in table tennis competition, optimize the training process of athletes, and improve the technical level. In this paper, DL technology is used to improve the accuracy of table tennis TD through MFF guidance. Initially, based on the FAST Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (FAST R-CNN), the TD is carried out in the table tennis match. Then, through the method of MFF guidance, different levels of feature information are fused, which improves the accuracy of TD. Through the experimental verification on the test set, it is found that the mean Average Precision (mAP) value of the target detection algorithm (TDA) proposed here reaches 87.3%, which is obviously superior to other TDAs and has higher robustness. In the petroleum and coal industries, digital image technology and acoustic emission technology are employed to study rock properties, but both exhibit flaws during data processing. Digital image technology is vulnerable to interference from fractures and scaling, leading to potential loss of image data; while acoustic emission technology is not hindered by these issues, noise from rock destruction can interfere with the electrical signals, causing errors. The monitoring errors of these techniques can undermine the effectiveness of rock damage analysis. To address this issue, this paper focuses on the restoration of image data acquired through digital image technology, leveraging deep learning techniques, and using soft and hard rocks made of similar materials as research subjects, an improved Incremental Transformer image algorithm is employed to repair distorted or missing strain nephograms during uniaxial compression experiments. The concrete implementation entails using a comprehensive training set of strain nephograms derived from digital image technology, fabricating masks for absent image segments, and predicting strain nephograms with full strain detail. Additionally, we adopt deep separable convolutional networks to optimize the algorithm's operational efficiency. Based on this, the analysis of rock damage is conducted using the repaired strain nephograms, achieving a closer correlation with the actual physical processes of rock damage compared to conventional digital image technology and acoustic emission techniques. Vehicle identification systems are vital components that enable many aspects of contemporary life, such as safety, trade, transit, and law enforcement. They improve community and individual well-being by increasing vehicle management, security, and transparency. These tasks entail locating and extracting license plates from images or video frames using computer vision and machine learning techniques, followed by recognizing the letters or digits on the plates. This paper proposes a new license plate detection and recognition method based on the deep learning YOLO v8 method, image processing techniques, and the OCR technique for text recognition. For this, the first step was the dataset creation, when gathering 270 images from the internet. Afterward, CVAT (Computer Vision Annotation Tool) was used to annotate the dataset, which is an open-source software platform made to make computer vision tasks easier to annotate and label images and videos. Subsequently, the newly released Yolo version, the Yolo v8, has been employed to detect the number plate area in the input image. Subsequently, after extracting the plate the k-means clustering algorithm, the thresholding techniques, and the opening morphological operation were used to enhance the image and make the characters in the license plate clearer before using OCR. The next step in this process is using the OCR technique to extract the characters. Eventually, a text file containing only the character reflecting the vehicle's country is generated. To ameliorate the efficiency of the proposed approach, several metrics were employed, namely precision, recall, F1-Score, and CLA. In addition, a comparison of the proposed method with existing techniques in the literature has been given. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. With a significant number of mechanical products approaching the retirement phase, the batch recycling of discarded mechanical parts necessitates a preliminary assessment of their surface condition. However, the presence of surface rust poses a challenge to defect identification. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for detecting heavily rusted surface defects based on an improved YOLOv8n network. In the Backbone, the C2f-DBB module of re-parameterized deep feature extraction was introduced, and the attention module was designed to improve the accuracy of information extraction. In the Neck part, a Bi-Afpn multiscale feature fusion strategy is designed to facilitate information exchange between features at different scales. Finally, Focal-CIoU is employed as the bounding box loss function to enhance the network's localization performance and accuracy for defects. With the advancement of society, ensuring the safety of personnel involved in municipal construction projects, particularly in the context of pandemic control measures, has become a matter of utmost importance. This paper introduces a security measure for municipal engineering, combining deep learning with object detection technology. It proposes a lightweight artificial intelligence (AI) detection method capable of simultaneously identifying individuals wearing masks and safety helmets. The method primarily incorporates the ShuffleNetv2 feature extraction mechanism within the framework of the YOLOv5s network to reduce computational overhead. Additionally, it employs the ECA attention mechanism and optimized loss functions to generate feature maps with more comprehensive information, thereby enhancing the precision of target detection. Experimental results indicate that this algorithm improves the mean average precision (mAP) value by 4.3%. Furthermore, it reduces parameter and computational loads by 54.8% and 53.8%, respectively, effectively striking a balance between lightweight operation and precision. Historical documents contain essential information about the past, including places, people, or events. Many of these valuable cultural artifacts cannot be further examined due to aging or external influences, as they are too fragile to be opened or turned over, so their rich contents remain hidden. Terahertz (THz) imaging is a nondestructive 3D imaging technique that can be used to reveal the hidden contents without damaging the documents. As noise or imaging artifacts are predominantly present in reconstructed images processed by standard THz reconstruction algorithms, this work intends to improve THz image quality with deep learning. To overcome the data scarcity problem in training a supervised deep learning model, an unsupervised deep learning network (CycleGAN) is first applied to generate paired noisy THz images from clean images (clean images are generated by a handwriting generator). With such synthetic noisy-to-clean paired images, a supervised deep learning model using Pix2pixGAN is trained, which is effective to enhance real noisy THz images. After Pix2pixGAN denoising, 99% characters written on one-side of the Xuan paper can be clearly recognized, while 61% characters written on one-side of the standard paper are sufficiently recognized. The average perceptual indices of Pix2pixGAN processed images are 16.83, which is very close to the average perceptual index 16.19 of clean handwriting images. The ubiquitous presence of electronic devices demands robust hardware security mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information from threats. This paper presents a physical unclonable function (PUF) circuit based on magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM). The circuit utilizes inherent characteristics arising from fabrication variations, specifically magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) cell resistance, to produce corresponding outputs for applied challenges. In contrast to Arbiter PUF, the proposed effectively satisfies the strict avalanche criterion (SAC). Additionally, the grid-like structure of the proposed circuit preserves its resistance against machine learning-based modeling attacks. Various machine learning (ML) attacks employing multilayer perceptron (MLP), linear regression (LR), and support vector machine (SVM) networks are simulated for two-array and four-array architectures. The MLP-attack prediction accuracy was 53.61% for a two-array circuit and 49.87% for a four-array circuit, showcasing robust performance even under the worst-case process variations. In addition, deep learning-based modeling attacks in considerable high dimensions utilizing multiple networks such as convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), MLP, and Larq are used with the accuracy of 50.31%, 50.25%, 50.31%, and 50.31%, respectively. The efficiency of the proposed circuit at the layout level is also investigated for simplified two-array architecture. The simulation results indicate that the proposed circuit offers intra and inter-hamming distance (HD) with a mean of 0.98% and 49.96%, respectively, and a mean diffuseness of 49.09%. Epilepsy is one of the most well-known neurological disorders globally, leading to individuals experiencing sudden seizures and significantly impacting their quality of life. Hence, there is an urgent necessity for an efficient method to detect and predict seizures in order to mitigate the risks faced by epilepsy patients. In this paper, a new method for seizure detection and prediction is proposed, which is based on multi-class feature fusion and the convolutional neural network-gated recurrent unit-attention mechanism (CNN-GRU-AM) model. Initially, the Electroencephalography (EEG) signal undergoes wavelet decomposition through the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), resulting in six subbands. Subsequently, time–frequency domain and nonlinear features are extracted from each subband. Finally, the CNN-GRU-AM further extracts features and performs classification. The CHB-MIT dataset is used to validate the proposed approach. The results of tenfold cross validation show that our method achieved a sensitivity of 99.24% and 95.47%, specificity of 99.51% and 94.93%, accuracy of 99.35% and 95.16%, and an AUC of 99.34% and 95.15% in seizure detection and prediction tasks, respectively. The results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively achieve high-precision detection and prediction of seizures, so as to remind patients and doctors to take timely protective measures. With technological innovations, enterprises in the real world are managing every iota of data as it can be mined to derive business intelligence (BI). However, when data comes from multiple sources, it may result in duplicate records. As data is given paramount importance, it is also significant to eliminate duplicate entities towards data integration, performance and resource optimization. To realize reliable systems for record deduplication, late, deep learning could offer exciting provisions with a learning-based approach. Deep ER is one of the deep learning-based methods used recently for dealing with the elimination of duplicates in structured data. Using it as a reference model, in this paper, we propose a framework known as Enhanced Deep Learning-based Record Deduplication (EDL-RD) for improving performance further. Towards this end, we exploited a variant of Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) along with various attribute compositions, similarity metrics, and numerical and null value resolution. The intelligent appearance quality classification method for Auricularia auricula is of great significance to promote this industry. This paper proposes an appearance quality classification method for Auricularia auricula based on the improved Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks (improved Faster RCNN) framework. The original Faster RCNN is improved by establishing a multiscale feature fusion detection model to improve the accuracy and real-time performance of the model. The multiscale feature fusion detection model makes full use of shallow feature information to complete target detection. It fuses shallow features with rich detailed information with deep features rich in strong semantic information. Since the fusion algorithm directly uses the existing information of the feature extraction network, there is no additional calculation. The fused features contain more original detailed feature information. Therefore, the improved Faster RCNN can improve the final detection rate without sacrificing speed. By comparing with the original Faster RCNN model, the mean average precision (mAP) of the improved Faster RCNN is increased by 2.13%. The average precision (AP) of the first-level Auricularia auricula is almost unchanged at a high level. The AP of the second-level Auricularia auricula is increased by nearly 5%. And the third-level Auricularia auricula AP is increased by 1%. The improved Faster RCNN improves the frames per second from 6.81 of the original Faster RCNN to 13.5. The illicit traffic of cultural goods remains a persistent global challenge, despite the proliferation of comprehensive legislative frameworks developed to address and prevent cultural property crimes. Online platforms, especially social media and e-commerce, have facilitated illegal trade and pose significant challenges for law enforcement agencies. To address this issue, the European project SIGNIFICANCE was born, with the aim of combating illicit traffic of Cultural Heritage (CH) goods. This paper presents the outcomes of the project, introducing a user-friendly platform that employs Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep learning (DL) to prevent and combat illicit activities. The platform enables authorities to identify, track, and block illegal activities in the online domain, thereby aiding successful prosecutions of criminal networks. Moreover, it incorporates an ontology-based approach, providing comprehensive information on the cultural significance, provenance, and legal status of identified artefacts. This enables users to access valuable contextual information during the scraping and classification phases, facilitating informed decision-making and targeted actions. To accomplish these objectives, computationally intensive tasks are executed on the HPC CyClone infrastructure, optimizing computing resources, time, and cost efficiency. Notably, the infrastructure supports algorithm modelling and training, as well as web, dark web and social media scraping and data classification. Preliminary results indicate a 10–15% increase in the identification of illicit artifacts, demonstrating the platform's effectiveness in enhancing law enforcement capabilities. When traditional EEG signals are collected based on the Nyquist theorem, long-time recordings of EEG signals will produce a large amount of data. At the same time, limited bandwidth, end-to-end delay, and memory space will bring great pressure on the effective transmission of data. The birth of compressed sensing alleviates this transmission pressure. However, using an iterative compressed sensing reconstruction algorithm for EEG signal reconstruction faces complex calculation problems and slow data processing speed, limiting the application of compressed sensing in EEG signal rapid monitoring systems. As such, this paper presents a non-iterative and fast algorithm for reconstructing EEG signals using compressed sensing and deep learning techniques. This algorithm uses the improved residual network model, extracts the feature information of the EEG signal by one-dimensional dilated convolution, directly learns the nonlinear mapping relationship between the measured value and the original signal, and can quickly and accurately reconstruct the EEG signal. The method proposed in this paper has been verified by simulation on the open BCI contest dataset. Overall, it is proved that the proposed method has higher reconstruction accuracy and faster reconstruction speed than the traditional CS reconstruction algorithm and the existing deep learning reconstruction algorithm. The mining of open pit mines is widespread in China, and there are many cases of landslide accidents. Therefore, the problem of slope stability is highlighted. The stability of the slope is a factor that directly affects the mining efficiency and the safety of the entire mining process. According to the statistics, there is a 15 percent chance of finding landslide risk in China's large-scale mines. And due to the expansion of the mining scale of the enterprise, the problem of slope stability has become increasingly obvious, which has become a major subject in the study of open-pit mine engineering. In order to better predict the slope stability coefficient, this study takes a mine in China as a case to deeply discuss the accuracy of different algorithms in the stability calculation, and then uses a deep learning algorithm to study the stability under rainfall conditions. The change of the coefficient and the change of the stability coefficient before and after the slope treatment are experimentally studied with the displacement of the monitoring point. The result shows that the safety coefficient calculated by the algorithm in this paper is about 7% lower than that of the traditional algorithm. In the slope stability analysis before treatment, the safety factor calculated by the algorithm in this paper is 1.086, and the algorithm in this paper is closer to reality. In the stability analysis of the slope after treatment, the safety factor calculated by the algorithm in this paper is 1.227, and the stability factor meets the requirements of the specification. Natural hazard named entity recognition is a technique used to recognize natural hazard entities from a large number of texts. The method of natural hazard named entity recognition can facilitate acquisition of natural hazards information and provide reference for natural hazard mitigation. The method of named entity recognition has many challenges, such as fast change, multiple types and various forms of named entities. This can introduce difficulties in research of natural hazard named entity recognition. To address the above problem, this paper constructed a natural disaster annotated corpus for training and evaluation model, and selected and compared several deep learning methods based on word vector features. A deep learning method for natural hazard named entity recognition can automatically mine text features and reduce the dependence on manual rules. This paper compares and analyzes the deep learning models from three aspects: pretraining, feature extraction and decoding. A natural hazard named entity recognition method based on deep learning is proposed, namely XLNet-BiLSTM-CRF model. Finally, the research hotspots of natural hazards papers in the past 10 years were obtained through this model. After training, the precision of the XLNet-BilSTM-CRF model is 92.80%, the recall rate is 91.74%, and the F1-score is 92.27%. The prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has surged in recent years, making it the foremost cause of mortality among humans. The Electrocardiogram (ECG), being one of the pivotal diagnostic tools for cardiovascular diseases, is increasingly gaining prominence in the field of machine learning. However, prevailing neural network models frequently disregard the spatial dimension features inherent in ECG signals. In this paper, we propose an ECG autoencoder network architecture incorporating low-rank attention (LRA-autoencoder). It is designed to capture potential spatial features of ECG signals by interpreting the signals from a spatial perspective and extracting correlations between different signal points. Additionally, the low-rank attention block (LRA-block) obtains spatial features of electrocardiogram signals through singular value decomposition, and then assigns these spatial features as weights to the electrocardiogram signals, thereby enhancing the differentiation of features among different categories. Finally, we utilize the ResNet-18 network classifier to assess the performance of the LRA-autoencoder on both the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia and PhysioNet Challenge 2017 datasets. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method demonstrates superior classification performance. This paper aims to propose a prediction method based on Deep Learning (DL) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, focusing on the ecological security and tourist satisfaction of Ice-and-Snow Tourism (IST) to solve practical problems in this field. Accurate predictions of ecological security and tourist satisfaction in IST have been achieved by collecting and analyzing environment and tourist behavior data and combining with DL models, such as convolutional and recurrent neural networks. The experimental results show that the proposed method has significant advantages in performance indicators, such as accuracy, F1 score, Mean Squared Error (MSE), and correlation coefficient. Compared to other similar methods, the method proposed improves accuracy by 3.2%, F1 score by 0.03, MSE by 0.006, and correlation coefficient by 0.06. This paper proposes a forward layer-wise learning algorithm for CNNs in classification problems. The algorithm utilizes the Separation Index (SI) as a supervised complexity measure to evaluate and train each layer in a forward manner. The proposed method explains that gradually increasing the SI through layers reduces the input data's uncertainties and disturbances, achieving a better feature space representation. Hence, by approximating the SI with a variant of local triplet loss at each layer, a gradient-based learning algorithm is suggested to maximize it. Inspired by the NGRAD (Neural Gradient Representation by Activity Differences) hypothesis, the proposed algorithm operates in a forward manner without explicit error information from the last layer. The algorithm's performance is evaluated on image classification tasks using VGG16, VGG19, AlexNet, and LeNet architectures with CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, Raabin-WBC, and Fashion-MNIST datasets. Additionally, the experiments are applied to text classification tasks using the DBPedia and AG's News datasets. Liver ultrasound is widely used in clinical practice due to its advantages of non-invasiveness, non-radiation, and real-time imaging. Accurate segmentation of the liver region in ultrasound images is essential for accelerating the auxiliary diagnosis of liver-related diseases. This paper proposes BACANet, a deep learning algorithm designed for real-time liver ultrasound segmentation. Our approach utilizes a lightweight network backbone for liver feature extraction and incorporates a convolutional attention mechanism to enhance the network's ability to capture global contextual information. To improve early localization of liver boundaries, we developed a selective large kernel convolution module for boundary feature extraction and introduced explicit liver boundary supervision. Additionally, we designed an enhanced attention gate to efficiently convey liver body and boundary features to the decoder to enhance the feature representation capability. Experimental results across multiple datasets demonstrate that BACANet effectively completes the task of liver ultrasound segmentation, achieving a balance between inference speed and segmentation accuracy. On a public dataset, BACANet achieved a DSC of 0.921 and an IOU of 0.854. In the field of spinal pathology, sagittal balance of the spine is usually judged by the spatial structure and morphology of pelvis, which can be represented by pelvic parameters. Pelvic parameters, including pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt and sacral slope, are therefore essential for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders, however, it is a time-consuming and laborious procedure to measure these parameters by traditional methods. In this paper, an automatic measurement framework for pelvic CT images was proposed to calculate three-dimensional (3D) pelvic parameters with the support of deep learning technology. Pelvic images were first preprocessed, and 3D reconstruction was then performed to obtain 3D pelvic model by the Visualization Toolkit. DRINet was trained to segment the femoral head region in the pelvic images, and 3D sphere fitting was performed to locate the femoral heads. In addition, VGG16 was adopted to recognize images containing superior sacral endplate, and the plane growth algorithm was used to fit the plane so that the midpoint and normal vector of the superior sacral endplate could be obtained. Finally, 3D pelvic parameters were automatically calculated, and compared with manual measurements for 15 patients. The proposed framework automatically generated 3D pelvic models, and calculated two-dimensional (2D) and 3D pelvic parameters from continuous CT images. Experiments demonstrated that the framework can greatly speed up the calculation of pelvic parameters, and these parameters are accurate when compared with the manual measurements. This paper presents the design and development of a coastal fisheries monitoring system that harnesses artificial intelligence technologies. Application of the system across the Pacific region promises to revolutionize coastal fisheries management. The program is built on a centralized, cloud-based monitoring system to automate data extraction and analysis processes. The system leverages YoloV4, OpenCV, and ResNet101 to extract information from images of fish and invertebrates collected as part of in-country monitoring programs overseen by national fisheries authorities. As of December 2023, the system has facilitated automated identification of over six hundred nearshore finfish species, and automated length and weight measurements of more than 80,000 specimens across the Pacific. The system integrates other key fisheries monitoring data such as catch rates, fishing locations and habitats, volumes, pricing, and market characteristics. The collection of these metrics supports much needed rapid fishery assessments. The system's co-development with national fisheries authorities and the geographic extent of its application enables capacity development and broader local inclusion of fishing communities in fisheries management. In doing so, the system empowers fishers to work with fisheries authorities to enable data-informed decision-making for more effective adaptive fisheries management. Optimizers are the bottleneck of the training process of any Convolutionolution neural networks (CNN) model. One of the critical steps when work on CNN model is choosing the optimal optimizer to solve a specific problem. Recent challenge in nowadays researches is building new versions of traditional CNN optimizers that can work more efficient than the traditional optimizers. Therefore, this work proposes a novel enhanced version of Adagrad optimizer called SAdagrad that avoids the drawbacks of Adagrad optimizer in dealing with tuning the learning rate value for each step of the training process. In order to evaluate SAdagrad, this paper builds a CNN model that combines a fine- tuning technique and a weight decay technique together. It trains the proposed CNN model on Kather colorectal cancer histology dataset which is one of the most challenging datasets in recent researches of Diagnose of Colorectal Cancer (CRC). In fact, recently, there have been plenty of deep learning models achieving successful results with regard to CRC classification experiments. However, the enhancement of these models remains challenging. To train our proposed model, a learning transfer process, which is adopted from a pre-complicated defined model is applied to the proposed model and combined it with a regularization technique that helps in avoiding overfitting. The experimental results show that SAdagrad reaches a remarkable accuracy (98%), when compared with Adaptive momentum optimizer (Adam) and Adagrad optimizer. The experiments also reveal that the proposed model has a more stable training and testing processes, can reduce the overfitting problem in multiple epochs and can achieve a higher accuracy compared with previous researches on Diagnosis CRC using the same Kather colorectal cancer histology dataset., (© 2024. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has emerged as a promising neuromodulation technique with both therapeutic and diagnostic applications. As accurate coil placement is known to be essential for focal stimulation, computational models have been established to help find the optimal coil positioning by maximizing electric fields at the cortical target. While these numerical simulations provide realistic and subject-specific field distributions, they are computationally demanding, precluding their use in real-time applications. In this paper, we developed a novel multi-task deep neural network which simultaneously predicts the optimal coil placement for a given cortical target as well as the associated TMS-induced electric field. Trained on large amounts of preceding numerical optimizations, the Attention U-Net-based neural surrogate provided accurate coil optimizations in only 35 ms, a fraction of time compared to the state-of-the-art numerical framework. The mean errors on the position estimates were below 2 mm, i.e., smaller than previously reported manual coil positioning errors. The predicted electric fields were also highly correlated (r> 0.97) with their numerical references. In addition to healthy subjects, we validated our approach also in glioblastoma patients. We first statistically underlined the importance of using realistic heterogeneous tumor conductivities instead of simply adopting values from the surrounding healthy tissue. Second, applying the trained neural surrogate to tumor patients yielded similar accurate positioning and electric field estimates as in healthy subjects. Affect recognition in a real-world, less constrained environment is the principal prerequisite of the industrial-level usefulness of this technology. Monitoring the psychological profile using smart, wearable electroencephalogram (EEG) sensors during daily activities without external stimuli, such as memory-induced emotions, is a challenging research gap in emotion recognition. This paper proposed a deep learning framework for improved memory-induced emotion recognition leveraging a combination of 1D-CNN and LSTM as feature extractors integrated with an Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) classifier. The proposed deep learning architecture, combined with the EEG preprocessing, such as the removal of the average baseline signal from each sample and extraction of EEG rhythms (delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma), aims to capture repetitive and continuous patterns for memory-induced emotion recognition, underexplored with deep learning techniques. This work has analyzed EEG signals using a wearable, ultra-mobile sports cap while recalling autobiographical emotional memories evoked by affect-denoting words, with self-annotation on the scale of valence and arousal. With extensive experimentation using the same dataset, the proposed framework empirically outperforms existing techniques for the emerging area of memory-induced emotion recognition with an accuracy of 65.6%. The EEG rhythms analysis, such as delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma, achieved 65.5%, 52.1%, 65.1%, 64.6%, and 65.0% accuracies for classification with four quadrants of valence and arousal. Bone segmentation is an important step to perform biomechanical failure load simulations on in-vivo CT data of patients with bone metastasis, as it is a mandatory operation to obtain meshes needed for numerical simulations. Segmentation can be a tedious and time consuming task when done manually, and expert segmentations are subject to intra- and inter-operator variability. Deep learning methods are increasingly employed to automatically carry out image segmentation tasks. These networks usually need to be trained on a large image dataset along with the manual segmentations to maximize generalization to new images, but it is not always possible to have access to a multitude of CT-scans with the associated ground truth. It then becomes necessary to use training techniques to make the best use of the limited available data. In this paper, we propose a dedicated pipeline of preprocessing, deep learning based segmentation method and post-processing for in-vivo human femurs and vertebrae segmentation from CT-scans volumes. We experimented with three U-Net architectures and showed that out-of-the-box models enable automatic and high-quality volume segmentation if carefully trained. We compared the failure load simulation results obtained on femurs and vertebrae using either automatic or manual segmentations and studied the sensitivity of the simulations on small variations of the automatic segmentation. The failure loads obtained using automatic segmentations were comparable to those obtained using manual expert segmentations for all the femurs and vertebrae tested, demonstrating the effectiveness of the automated segmentation approach for failure load simulations., (© 2024. When conducting spine-related diagnosis and surgery, the three-dimensional (3D) upright posture of the spine under natural weight bearing is of significant clinical value for physicians to analyze the force on the spine. However, existing medical imaging technologies cannot meet current requirements of medical service. On the one hand, the mainstream 3D volumetric imaging modalities (e.g. CT and MRI) require patients to lie down during the imaging process. On the other hand, the imaging modalities conducted in an upright posture (e.g. radiograph) can only realize 2D projections, which lose the valid information of spinal anatomy and curvature. Developments of deep learning-based 3D reconstruction methods bring potential to overcome the limitations of the existing medical imaging technologies. To deal with the limitations of current medical imaging technologies as is described above, in this paper, we propose a novel deep learning framework, ReVerteR, which can realize automatic 3D Reconstruction of Vertebrae from orthogonal bi-planar Radiographs. With the utilization of self-attention mechanism and specially designed loss function combining Dice, Hausdorff, Focal, and MSE, ReVerteR can alleviate the sample-imbalance problem during the reconstruction process and realize the fusion of the centroid annotation and the focused vertebra. Furthermore, aiming at automatic and customized 3D spinal reconstruction in real-world scenarios, we extend ReVerteR to a clinical deployment-oriented framework, and develop an interactive interface with all functions in the framework integrated so as to enhance human-computer interaction during clinical decision-making. Extensive experiments and visualization conducted on our constructed datasets based on two benchmark datasets of spinal CT, VerSe 2019 and VerSe 2020, demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed ReVerteR. The educational environment plays a vital role in the development of students who participate in athletic pursuits both in terms of their physical health and their ability to detect fatigue. As a result of recent advancements in deep learning and biosensors benefitting from edge computing resources, we are now able to monitor the physiological fatigue of students participating in sports in real time. These devices can then be used to analyze the data using contemporary technology. In this paper, we present an innovative deep learning framework for forecasting fatigue in athletic students following physical exercise. It addresses the issue of lack of precision computational models and extensive data analysis in current approaches to monitoring students' physical activity. In our study, we classified fatigue and non-fatigue based on photoplethysmography (PPG) signals. Several deep learning models are compared in the study. Using limited training data, determining the optimal parameters for PPG presents a significant challenge. For datasets containing many data points, several models were trained using PPG signals: a deep residual network convolutional neural network (ResNetCNN) ResNetCNN, an Xception architecture, a bidirectional long short-term memory (BILSTM), and a combination of these models. The hippocampus is a critical component of the brain and is associated with many neurological disorders. It can be further subdivided into several subfields, and accurate segmentation of these subfields is of great significance for diagnosis and research. However, the structures of hippocampal subfields are irregular and have complex boundaries, and their voxel values are close to surrounding brain tissues, making the segmentation task highly challenging. Currently, many automatic segmentation tools exist for hippocampal subfield segmentation, but they suffer from high time costs and low segmentation accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new dual-branch segmentation network structure (DSnet) based on deep learning for hippocampal subfield segmentation. While traditional convolutional neural network-based methods are effective in capturing hierarchical structures, they struggle to establish long-term dependencies. The DSnet integrates the Transformer architecture and a hybrid attention mechanism, enhancing the network's global perceptual capabilities. Moreover, the dual-branch structure of DSnet leverages the segmentation results of the hippocampal region to facilitate the segmentation of its subfields. We validate the efficacy of our algorithm on the public Kulaga-Yoskovitz dataset. Experimental results indicate that our method is more effective in segmenting hippocampal subfields than conventional single-branch network structures. Alzheimer's disease (AD), the predominant form of dementia, is a growing global challenge, emphasizing the urgent need for accurate and early diagnosis. Current clinical diagnoses rely on radiologist expert interpretation, which is prone to human error. Deep learning has thus far shown promise for early AD diagnosis. However, existing methods often overlook focal structural atrophy critical for enhanced understanding of the cerebral cortex neurodegeneration. This paper proposes a deep learning framework that includes a novel structure-focused neurodegeneration CNN architecture named SNeurodCNN and an image brightness enhancement preprocessor using gamma correction. The SNeurodCNN architecture takes as input the focal structural atrophy features resulting from segmentation of brain structures captured through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As a result, the architecture considers only necessary CNN components, which comprises of two downsampling convolutional blocks and two fully connected layers, for achieving the desired classification task, and utilises regularisation techniques to regularise learnable parameters. Leveraging mid-sagittal and para-sagittal brain image viewpoints from the Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging initiative (ADNI) dataset, our framework demonstrated exceptional performance. The para-sagittal viewpoint achieved 97.8% accuracy, 97.0% specificity, and 98.5% sensitivity, while the mid-sagittal viewpoint offered deeper insights with 98.1% accuracy, 97.2% specificity, and 99.0% sensitivity. Model analysis revealed the ability of SNeurodCNN to capture the structural dynamics of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD in the frontal lobe, occipital lobe, cerebellum, temporal, and parietal lobe, suggesting its potential as a brain structural change digi-biomarker for early AD diagnosis. Early detection of the adenocarcinoma cancer in colon tissue by means of explainable deep learning, by classifying histological images and providing visual explainability on model prediction. Considering that in recent years, deep learning techniques have emerged as powerful techniques in medical image analysis, offering unprecedented accuracy and efficiency, in this paper we propose a method to automatically detect the presence of cancerous cells in colon tissue images. Various deep learning architectures are considered, with the aim of considering the best one in terms of quantitative and qualitative results. As a matter of fact, we consider qualitative results by taking into account the so-called prediction explainability, by providing a way to highlight on the tissue images the areas that from the model point of view are related to the presence of colon cancer. The experimental analysis, performed on 10,000 colon issue images, showed the effectiveness of the proposed method by obtaining an accuracy equal to 0.99.
