The article offers information on a cross-sectional study of asthmatics of varying severity (n = 51). Topics discussed include major patient clusters such as TH2-high, TH17-high, and TH2/17-low, which were obtained from endobronchial tissue gene expression analysis; importance of identifying the molecular mechanisms driving subtypes of asthma for drug targeting; and clinical characteristics of the patients separated by molecular phenotypes of TH2/17 inflammation.
