As a supply chain system, the development of cold chain depends on the progress of technology, involving many disciplines, science and technology, and the attention is increasing year by year. Therefore, this paper analyzes the number of published documents, literature cooperation network and literature co-occurrence network to the cold-chain by taking the example of the literature data of Web of Science core database in July, 2000 to 2019, combining with the research method, such as citation analysis of metrology, knowledge mapping method, co-occurrence analysis, etc., and with the help of CiteSpace knowledge mapping visualization software and database result analysis tool. The analysis result shows that the focus of each discipline is mainly on temperature control and food safety, and those two points are decisive factor in the success or failure of the cold chain industry, while the traceability of products is a new study developed in the background of scientific and technological level progress in recent years. Coronaviruses (CoVs) are a large family of viruses and are endemic in humans and animals, causing respiratory and intestinal infections. Coronavirus has become a challenge in China region due to its recent outbreak at the start of the year 2020. The current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID) has resulted in many fatalities and has forced the people of Wuhan Province in China to remain confined in their homes. Two other two forms of CoV were epidemic in 2003 when Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV) spread in Hong Kong and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) spread in the Middle East region. This bibliometric study is an attempt to trace the trends of research associated with "Coronavirus" for a period of 50 years using the SCOPUS database. The study was carried out using the keyword Coronavirus and analyzed for annual growth, productive countries, institutes, authors, journals, highly cited papers, and research focus using keywords. There were two peaks when a large number of publications appeared. Most of the research publications were from the USA (31.67%), and the University of Hong Kong was the most productive institute. This study analyzed dissertations and theses completed from 2009–2019 in the Mathematics and Statistics department at the University at Albany to investigate resource type, citation age, publishers, and journal title dispersion. Students cited journal articles 57.0% of the time, while books and book chapters combined accounted for 30.5% of the citations. Publisher usage fit the Pareto Distribution; however, there was a high journal title dispersion. Preprints represented 4.6% of the citations, an increase from previous studies. Internet of Things (IoT) is a popular technological paradigm offering several promised advantages. IoT has been facing different challenges discussed by various researchers. The available literature on IoT challenges is mostly based on experimental studies or reviews. The analysis of webpages as a valuable database can be a good idea to provide an insight into IoT challenges. Thus, this paper was aimed at providing an overall view of webpages discussing IoT challenges. In this regard, the text mining approach was implemented to analyze the related webpages. The obtained results revealed that challenges relate to the security of IoT devices, connectivity, data processing, and storage have been the most prevalent topics in the selected webpages. A scientometric study examines the publication's quantitative and qualitative trends in a particular research area. The present study investigates 2,854 leukemia research outputs of India published from 1989 to 2020, indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection database. Software, including bibliometrix Biblioshiny, BibExcel, HistCite and VOSviewer, have been used for data analysis. The Pediatric Blood & Cancer journal has the highest number of published articles. The USA collaborated with the highest number of publications with India. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences had the maximum number of publications. Bakshi S, Sharma A and Varma N were the leading authors of publications about leukemia research in India. Keyword analysis revealed that acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and apoptosis were the main research hotspots in the area in all publications. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India and the National Institute of Health (NIH), USA, were the major funders in the leukemia research publications in India. The limitation of the study is that the data used is entirely dependent on the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database. Chemical lecture demonstrations have been used as a pedagogical tool since at least the founding of chemistry as a discipline in the 1600s. This paper describes how science librarians can engage chemistry faculty and students through chemical lecture demonstrations. A sharp distinction of journal needs between anatomists in medical vs. nonmedical biological research institutions is documented by diverging publication patterns between 1965-79. This is traced to an historical drifting apart beginning in the nineteenth century. Medically affiliated researchers, who dominate most anatomy journals, are generally microscopists who also require journals of embyology, cell biology, pathology, and neurology. Anatomists affiliated with university departments of the zoological sciences and physical anthropology, or with natural history museums, have maintained a small share of papers in some anatomy journals and often continue to stress the classical dissection or reconstruction of remains. They need journals of zoology, marine biology, evolution, paleontology, and physical anthropology. Museum bulletins are shown to be uniquely important to the nonmedical group, while multiscience and academic clinical investigation journals are frequent outlets for only the medically affilieated group. Hackathons are time-bound, competitive coding contests that are often judged for prizes. Their name originates from joining hacking, playful exploration of hardware and software issues, with marathons, endurance competitions. The intent is to challenge participants to build working prototypes of hardware or software in a short time period, anywhere from one day to several weeks, though typically between 24–28 hours. While they are a mainstay in computer science fields, they are becoming increasingly popular in other domains, including libraries. Libraries have long championed life-long learning, a democratization of data, and access to information. These are similar mentalities of the maker movement, echoed in hackathons. Rapid iteration, problem solving, and cooperative learning are regularly present at events and within library systems. This paper details a case study of one institution's growth from a hackathon event host to deeper library engagement and partnership with an informal learning program. The authors will highlight benefits that both partners observed and will end with a pitch for why other libraries should consider hosting similar events. This paper is a memorial tribute and a biobibliometric analysis of the contributions of Ellis Mount to science, engineering, and technology librarianship. It starts with a biographical section, followed by three sections related to his work. An analysis is made of his contributions to the profession as an editor; as a bibliographer; and as an author. Ellis Mount edited several hundred articles, authored or edited at least fifty-eight monographs, oversaw the production of hundreds of other documents, and published an unnumbered amount of book reviews. An analysis of two leading journals for economic entomologists employing beneficial arthropods against agricultural insect pests --- the Journal of Economic Entomology, and Biological Control--- uncovered a highly concordant distribution of species used and species attacked. Parasitizing wasps were by far the most common beneficials. These were followed in frequency by predatory versions of the following: true bugs, mites, lady beetles, and lacewings. Assemblages of larger ground beetles and spiders provided good crop protection in fewer but still consequential dilemmas. Familiarity with prominent species will help science librarians who are not entomologists by training, but who may serve students and faculty in agriculture, ecology, or environmental studies, by raising their own awareness of this important means of pest control with less reliance on potentially toxic insecticides. Searching databases for peer-reviewed journal articles is a traditional mainstay of STEM information literacy instruction. This paper examines the barriers that STEM students face in learning to access and use the peer-reviewed literature. Database searches of students, ranging from the freshman to the post-doctoral level, were studied over a period of five years and a method consistent with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education was developed to address the barriers. This paper describes the library/faculty liaison program at the Gerstein Science Information Centre at the University of Toronto and provides examples to show how it has created an environment where collaboration between librarians and faculty is encouraged and supported. The Information Services Office (ISO) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) proactively sought out an opportunity to present the findings of a study that showed the impact of NIST’s forensic research output to its internal customers and outside researchers. ISO analyzed the impact of NIST’s contributions to the peer-reviewed forensic journal literature through citation analysis and network visualizations. The findings of this study were compiled into a poster that was presented during the Forensics@NIST Symposium in December 2014. ISO’s study informed the forensic research community where NIST has had some of the greatest scholarly impact. This article describes the methodology used to assess the impact of NIST’s forensic publications and shares the results, outcomes, and impacts of ISO’s study and poster presentation. This methodology is adaptable and applicable to other research fields and to other libraries. Science and technology librarians know from direct experience about escalating journal prices, restrictive license agreements, and the commercialization of scholarly publishing. While digital technologies offer exciting new opportunities for rapid, broad dissemination of scholarship, the scale of the scholarly communication system as a whole makes change slow and difficult. This paper cites the varied stakes of faculty, publishers, and librarians as partial explanation for this entrenchment. Despite some resistance, significant national and international initiatives do present a variety of new possibilities for the culture and technology of scholarly communication. This study highlights the scientific legacy and impact of Dr Saeed-Ul Hassan's research on the world of science. He was a remarkable researcher in the fields of scientometrics, altmetrics, artificial intelligence, and data science, as evidenced by the Eugene Garfield Awards he received for innovation in citation analysis in 2017 and 2022. The motivation of this article is to systematically assess the current literature and identify significant research gaps in the field of inland water transportation, with the goal of discovering important publications on sustainability, obstacles, and performance indicators. This article employs data outdrawn from the Scopus database between January 2002 and November 12, 2022. This investigation makes use of the Scopus database to retrieve 142 articles in order to identify the research literature that is pertinent to the areas of sustainability, barriers, and performance criteria of inland water transportation system. These articles were also assessed in terms of scientific production, relevancy, and collaboration. This study describes and assesses a pilot program to provide information literacy instruction to undergraduate engineering students in a writing intensive course. Working in teams, students complete a professional paper that requires them to identify and analyze a topic on mechanical power. Instruction is delivered through a consultation model that embeds librarians in student teams. Findings indicate that these students receive customized instruction, use the class guide to identify and access library resources independently, and to a lesser extent, use interlibrary loan to acquire needed materials. The arrival of royalty-paying, inexpensive fax delivery networks will greatly ease concerns of copyright law and faculty goodwill on the part of librarians when cancelling journals. Librarians realize that it will be cheaper to give free fax delivery of individual articles to their faculty than to take subscriptions to many of the typically voluminous and expensive journals that faculty have come to expect on library shelves. Some journals of high demand will always be locally held, but subscriptions to others will likely continue only as long as taking them is cheaper than repeatedly requesting faxes. Since publishers will still greatly prefer to get advance subscriptions (with all the revenue up front), rather than after-the-fact piecemeal payments, they may actually have a financial incentive to publish fewer bit higher demand articles in their existing journals so as to tip purchasing calculations in favor of maintaining subscriptions to them. Ironically, through article-specific fax royalty reports, smart publishers will have a tool that enables them to concentrate only on authors who are likely to sustain subscriptions loyalty through genuinely interesting papers. The warning signs of "at risk" journals have actually long been available to both publishers and librarians through studies of pricing and citation data, but often have been ignored. We report a long term analysis of citation data with some reference to pricing from 1979-1989, and predict which journals have the best chances to remain locally held in the 1990s, and which are likely to go to "fax-access-only." This study explores retracted journal articles in the engineering literature indexed in Scopus in order to determine how easy it is for non-expert users to identify retracted publications and interpret the reasons for retractions. The authors also analyzed citations both pre- and post-retraction to compare the methods Scopus uses to alert readers to the retracted status of an article. The results show that the current practice is inconsistent and the methods Scopus uses for indicating retraction status are equally inefficient in preventing the accumulation of post-retraction citations. The role of reference and information service has been redefined in some Chinese university libraries. In these libraries the focus of reference and information service has transformed into information analysis. Tony Fauci is arguably America's best known clinical investigator and federal medical research administrator. He has authored a torrent of papers in research and professional journals (1,368 as of May 15, 2013) and has appeared well over 100 times on TV news shows explaining aspects of America's fight against autoimmune and infectious diseases, particularly AIDS. The vast majority of today's American medical students and their librarians will also recognize him as editor in chief of the best-selling textbookHarrison's Principles of Internal Medicine. He has been awarded honorary degrees by thirty-eight universities, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn, and Georgetown. His productivity and visibility have spanned three generations of Americans, and yet his work has probably had an even greater impact far beyond our borders. An analysis of the evolving assortment of journals in which he has been published over the course of his career discloses three major patterns: a progressively higher proportion of more prestigious titles as he tackled bigger and bigger scientific and clinical challenges; an extraordinary output of “big picture” papers (generally one in every twenty of his papers were invited review articles); as well as great willingness to publish in brand-new journals (twenty-six), most of which would go on to be highly successful. Citation analysis can uncover ways to apply the use of software in different research synergies. A cited reference search on MATLAB in the Web of Science database retrieved 6,873 citing articles from 2000 to 2020. These articles were analyzed by research areas to reveal the use of MATLAB in unexpected subject-specific disciplines. An analytical description using established bibliometric techniques of the New Journal of Physics (NJP) from its first issue in January of 1999 to the December issue of 2009 is presented. After reviewing the literature of the differing approaches to evaluating the output of academic librarians and ranking their employing universities, the authors adapted features of the most widely cited study, Stephen J. Wiberley, Julie M. Hurd, and Ann C. Weller 2006 (WHW 2006), which covers a wide assortment of journals, to compile instead the affiliations of college and university authors in articles published between 2000-2010 in the journals most favored by American science, engineering, medical, and agricultural librarians. These journals included Science and Technology Libraries, Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship, Journal of Agricultural and Food Information, Journal of the Medical Library Association, and Medical Reference Services Quarterly. Unlike many previous studies, it emphasizes the number of papers published, not the number of librarians it took to write them. The study demonstrates that the WHW 2006 top twenty did rather well in this more narrowly focused science-oriented journal assortment over this timespan. Furthermore, while a statistically significant number of schools that happened to have graduate programs in library and information science (LIS) on their campuses were notable for their output in these journals, LIS faculty publishing was not a significant factor in their attaining a high ranking in this study, as shown by the thirty-eight of the forty-five ranking schools providing faculty status for academic librarians. Named entity recognition (NER) is a natural language processing tool for information extraction from unstructured text data such as e-mails, newspapers, blogs, etc. NER is the process of identifying nouns like people, place, organization, etc., that are mentioned in the string of the text, sentence, or paragraph. For building the NER system, many different libraries and natural language processing tools using Java, Python, and Cython languages are available. All these tools have pretrained NER models that can be imported, used and can be modified or customized according to requirements. This paper explains different NLP libraries including Python's SpaCy, Apache OpenNLP, and TensorFlow. Some of these libraries provide a pre-build NER model that can be customized. The comparison of these libraries is done based on training accuracy, F-score, prediction time, model size, and ease of training. The training and testing data are the same for all the models. The 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recognized three scientists who each contributed a key development to the lithium-ion battery. Ubiquitous in the portable devices of the modern world, overcoming the significant chemical challenges of working with lithium was no small feat. Stanley Whittingham demonstrated the first working rechargeable battery based on lithium ion transfer. John B. Goodenough designed a cathode that increased the battery voltage to commercially viable levels. Akira Yoshino designed a new anode without lithium metal that made the battery safe enough for mass production and use. Developments of particular importance to editorial peer review include the impact of electronic journals (e-journals) on scholarly publishing in general, pre-print repositories, open access journals, and access to unpublished data. New pricing models are changing the economics of scholarly publishing, and there are promises of quick reviews that may impact the peer review process itself. The article presents information about the September 2005 issue of the journal "Science & Technology Libraries." It contains articles that illustrate some of the diversity of interests in science and technology librarianship. Readers will learn about how state academies of science are moving toward electronic publication to disseminate regional scientific research, and how a librarian and a chemistry professor collaborated to develop a Web tutorial to teach undergraduates to evaluate Web-based resources. Authors J. B. Hill and Cherie Madarash-Hill describe their investigation of the publication practices of state academies of science as they move toward electronic dissemination of scientific research in their regions. The authors synthesize information from a survey sent to the academies, their examination of academies' Web sites, and searches of aggregator databases for academy publications. They conclude that scarce funding has deterred many of the academies from following the lead of commercial and larger societal publishers, but that some state academies have found ways to distribute their publications electronically.

Within the world of special science libraries, zoo and aquarium libraries have an especially narrow focus and purpose. Nevertheless, they play an important part in the functioning of their parent institutions, which currently emphasize their roles in education, conservation, and research. This paper summarizes the results of a survey which found that despite a wide range in the sizes of surveyed facilities and the general economic hard times, zoo and aquarium libraries have increased their holdings, resources, and scope. Communication in science has evolved from a process dependent on print-on-paper to one increasingly reliant on electronic media as databases have replaced indexes and journals have shifted to electronic formats. This migration from print to electronic has transformed the roles of virtually all participants in the system of scientific communication. Scientist-authors, publishers, and librarians have all assumed new duties as the Internet and the World Wide Web have blurred boundaries and realigned responsibilities. This paper examines some of these changes in detail with reference to a communication model developed during a print-based time by sociologists William Garvey and Belver Griffith. An updated model of the cur- rent scientific communication system will be presented that incorporates developments that have changed the very nature of research and publishing and have altered, as well, the ways that libraries and librarians interact with scientists and publishers. New learning communities and communities of practice are developing on our university and college campuses. These communities, based on collaborative learning, problem based learning, and other new educational models, are causing a shift in higher education from faculty centered learning to student centered learning. Librarians have done little investigation into the information seeking habits and needs of these new communities. An investigative study was undertaken at the illinois Institute of Technology to identify the new learning communities, examine emerging patterns of collaborative work within these communities, quantify these communities' use of information resources, and identify methods of library involvement. The promotion and development of leadership and management principles with our target audiences is a major focus of our activities in British Council Mombasa. The British Council is committed to supporting the Africa-led programme New Partnership for Africa's Development, NEPAD, which aims to promote sustainable development in Africa through better leadership and governance. This is being done through the support of the reform agenda of transformational leadership and more engagement with young potential future leaders. The Council provides them with a platform that they can use to develop leadership and management skills. The Management Forum is one such platform and is the one discussed in this paper. The Management Forum is an association of managers in the region who have come together with the main aim of providing a channel through which managers across all professions and industries could share their experience and exchange information. They work to provide networking opportunities for one another, influence management thinking through creating awareness of good practice, capacity building of their institutions and individuals and also recognise excellence in management through awards. The Forum is governed by a code of ethics. The paper looks at one specific activity of the forum, which is to organise management conventions/forums-a platform for managers to come together and deliberate on an issue that concerns them. Thirty-three undergraduate student papers in biology that were presented at an annual symposium of undergraduate research at the University of Denver from 2000 through 2002 were evaluated. There were a total of 770 citations with an average of 23.3 citations per paper. It was determined that 76.2% of the citations came from journal articles, 16.4% came from books or book chapters, 6.4% were to other miscellaneous sources, and only 1.0% were to Web sites. Other findings include the top cited journals, the oldest cited journal articles, the average age and range of books and journals, the types of miscellaneous sources cited, and the stability of the cited Web sites. (AIRESCO) to support the research, product development, and other information needs of our scientific and technical community. Traditional commercial bibliographic databases and indexes provide some access to hydrology materials produced by the government; however, these sources do not provide comprehensive coverage of relevant hydrologic publications. This paper discusses bibliographic information available from the federal government and state geological surveys, water resources agencies, and depositories. In addition to information in these databases, the paper describes the scope, styles of citing, subject terminology, and the ways these information sources are currently being searched, formally and informally, by hydrologists. Since the introduction of the first computerized information retrieval systems in libraries, librarians have attempted to gather statistical information on system usage. For Web sites, the most important source of this information is the Web server transaction log. This paper explores the reasons behind the search for Web usage statistics, the limitations of Web server logs and the methods used to analyze them, and possible ways to gather more meaningful Web usage statistics, taking into account the particular challenges Web servers present for electronic reserves.
