Levobupivacaine is a long-acting local anesthetic that is both safe and non-toxic. However, few researchers have examined the efficacy and safety of peritonsillar injections of levobupivacaine for postoperative pain relief. The goal of this study was to assess current randomized controlled trials that employed this strategy. A literature review was conducted using databases such as DELPHIS, PUBMED, COCHRANE, and SCOPUS. A total of fifteen randomized controlled trials were found and thoroughly reviewed. There were no fatalities reported. One study reported a case of nausea and vomiting. In most of the studies, levobupivacaine with magnesium, epinephrine, dexamethasone hydrochloride, tramadol, or levobupivacaine alone were compared to a placebo. Four trials employed different combinations of levobupivacaine and other medicines to recruit adults. Most of the studies had a modest sample size. As a result, larger research with more representative populations should be conducted. Despite certain flaws in the trial design, our findings suggest that levobupivacaine is safe and effective at reducing postoperative pain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) involves the regimen of gradually incrementing doses of the allergen, thereby inducing desensitization and tolerance. Sublingual Immunotherapy tablets (SLIT-tablets) have been formulated for several allergies and had manifested efficacy for allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma. SLIT promises an alternative method to other routes of AIT enabling patients to self-administer AIT. The study aimed to formulate fast disintegrating SLIT containing crude peanut extract for peanut-induced allergic asthma. The crude peanut extract was prepared by a simple extraction method and was subjected to quantitative and qualitative analysis. The extract was also characterised for its physical properties. The preformulation study for the extract and excipients of the tablet was performed using FT-IR spectroscopy and Differential scanning calorimetry. The tablet powder blends were characterised for pre-compression properties. The SLIT tablets were developed by direct compression and the post-compression evaluation was performed. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis of extract confirmed the presence of peanut proteins in the extract. The preformulation studies using FT-IR spectroscopy and Differential Scanning Calorimetry revealed that there is no significant interaction between the CPE and excipients. The pre-compression characterisation showed that the powder blends had good flowproperties. Three doses of SLIT tablets were formulated with each dose containing four batches and the tablet of each dose was optimized by studying the effect of varying concentrations of super disintegrants on disintegration time and dissolution rate. The post compression characterization of the tablets was performed and the optimized batch of the three doses with the concentration of 5% crospovidone and 2% croscarmellose sodium showed less wetting time and high-water absorption ratio, shorter disintegration time of 14secs and maximum drug release of >90% within 2–3 min. Tectona grandis L.f is a timber plant that is commonly referred to as teak. Its wide use as a medicine in the various indigenous systems makes it a plant of importance. A wide gamut of phytoconstituents like alkaloids, phenolic glycosides, steroids, etc. has been reported. A renewed interest in this plant has resulted in scientific investigations by various researchers towards the isolation and identification of active constituents along with scientific proof of its biological activities. The different parts of the plant have been scientifically evaluated for their antioxidant, antipyretic, analgesic, hypoglycemic, wound healing, cytotoxic, and many more biological activities. Documentation of this scientific knowledge is of importance to have consolidated precise information encompassing the various aspects of this plant, which could provide a base for future studies. This review is a compilation of the salient reports on these investigations concerning phytochemistry, the methods used to identify and quantify the constituents, the evaluation methods of the biological activity, toxicological studies, allergies and the patent/patent applications.
