Despite the numerous contributions from farm entrepreneurship to economic development, including food security and rural poverty alleviation, most farm enterprises often fail due to institutional challenges in developing countries. Based on this perspective, the study investigates the effect of different institutional contexts, such as regulatory, normative, and cognitive institutions, on the performance of farm enterprises. The study further evaluates the mediating role of farm Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) in the Institution-Venture performance relationship. We employ the PLS-SEM technique to analyze data collected from 371 farm enterprises in Ghana. The findings from the study emphasize that Regulatory, Normative, and Cognitive institutions have positive and significant indirect effects on farm business performance through the partial mediating role of EO. While regulatory and normative institutions have a negative direct effect on farm venture performance, the results show that cognitive institutions have positive and significant effects on farm business performance. The study confirms the positive and significant impacts of institutions on farm-level EO. The findings imply that farm entrepreneurship can be improved by strengthening regulatory, normative, and cognitive institutions to offer conducive support for farm businesses in developing countries. EO literature suggests that the effects of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on performance is affected by studying context. There is a lack of study executed in transitional economies. In addition, the mediating role of differentiation advantages (DA) and innovation capability (IC) on the relationship between EO and performance remains underexplored. Thus, drawing upon resource-based view and contingency theory, this study examines the mediating effects of DA and IC on this relationship in the contexts of manufacturing SMEs located in Vietnam. A sample of 176 manufacturing SMEs currently operating in Vietnam was analyzed. Partial least square structural equation modeling was applied to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that DA and IC fully mediate the relationship between EO and performance. These findings permit four theoretical contributions to the literature. First, this study contributes to the EO literature by examining the effects of EO in a transitional economy as Vietnam. Second, this study also overcomes prior EO studies in term of the operationalization of the performance. Third, this study introduces to EO literature two novel mediators such as DA and IC. Last but not least, this study it also contributes to contingency theory in EO study by addressing mediating rather moderating effects. Regarding to practical implications, managers of manufacturing SMEs should aware that adopting EO is only beneficial to the performance when EO can be used to develop DA and IC. In the age of digitalization, big data analytics capabilities are considered one of the most critical organizational resources. Many organizations make considerable investments in these resources with an intention to improve their agility. However, the mechanism to reap agility from big data analytics still requires extensive empirical research and analysis. This study extends the big data analytics model by examining the mediating effects of entrepreneurial orientation between big data analytics capabilities and organizational agility. Partial least squares-structured equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the responses collected from 104 firms in Jordan. Results demonstrate that entrepreneurial orientation explains the relationship between big data analytics capabilities and agility. This finding contributes to the management literature by showing that big data analytics capabilities may enhance firm entrepreneurial orientation. While much of the prior research conceptualized the entrepreneurial orientation of the firm as a static characteristic, the current study argues that big data analytic capabilities play a key role in developing organizational agility through its role in improving entrepreneurial orientation, which subsequently creates value for firms, their customers, and the other stakeholders. Finally, challenges and future scope pertaining to this study are discussed. Recommendations for future studies on this promising topic include the use of longitudinal designs and mixed methods (quantitative with qualitative) approaches to provide researchers with new insights.
