Method is described for forming a superhydrophobic coating on the surface of aluminum by curing of a suspension of microparticles of carbonyl iron in an organofluorine lacquer in air in a permanent magnetic field.

Contact photolithography was used to fabricate three-layer polymeric waveguide structures with transverse dimensions of 50 × 90 μm on the basis of two photopolymerizing methacrylate compositions with different refractive indices. The optical loss on the wavelength of 632.8 nm was 0.37 ± 0.14 dB cm−1. This loss is mostly due to the light scattering by the material of the waveguide layer produced by bulk polymerization.

The phosphorus-containing organosilicon varnish was synthesized by heating 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, triphenyl phosphate, and octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane. Heat-resistant coatings formed on its basis were investigated by thermogravimetry, electronic absorption spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and atomic force microscopy.

The use of trimethylsilyl ether of acetylacetone instead of acetylacetone yields Ia (84%) and silylated derivatives (Me3SiO)n(EtO)3−nSi-CH2CH2CH2-N=C(Me)CH=C(Me)OH (II) (16%). Solid, liquid, or resinous products were prepared by hydrolytic condensation of I and II. Compositions for preparing transparent sol-gel films were developed.

Extraction of 1-methylnaphthalene, benzo[b]thiophene, and indole with N-methylpyrrolidone from their model mixtures with hexadecane in the absence and in the presence of lower-boiling n-alkanes (hexane, decane, dodecane) was studied.

The resulting refined oil can be used as high-quality raw material in hydrocracking and catalytic cracking.

Jet fuel containing less than 10 wt % arenes and aromatic petroleum solvents of the Nefras AR-120/200 type was prepared by combination of arene extraction from the hydrorefined kerosene fraction with the acetonitrile-pentane system, followed by concentration of arenes in the course of acetonitrile regeneration from the extract phase, based on the formation of azeotropes of acetonitrile with saturated C9-C10 hydrocarbons.

A method is proposed for production of environmentally friendly diesel fuel, including five-step countercurrent extraction of aromatic hydrocarbons from the hydrofined diesel fraction with dimethylformamide or dimethylacetamide containing 3-5 wt % H2O and pentane followed by regeneration of the extractants from the extract phase by azeotropic distillation. The process allows production of diesel fuel with the content of aromatic hydrocarbons below 10 wt %. Another product is a petroleum aromatic solvent like Nefras AR-150/330.

X-ray structural analysis was applied to study recrystallization of the material of carbon fiber in high-speed high-temperature (up to ∼3200°C) thermomechanical treatment. The time of heating of a fiber bundle is evaluated.
