A series of 3,4-diarylpyrrole-2-carboxamides was synthesized using the Barton—Zard reaction of nitrostilbenes with ethyl isocyanoacetate in the key stage. The antiproliferative properties of these compounds were studied on a sea urchin embryo model, as well as on 60 human tumor cell lines.

Heterophase films containing cadmium sulfide and Cu2−xS phase were prepared by pyrolysis of the aerosol solutions of the thiourea coordination compounds. The crystal structure of the synthesized layers, as well as their optical, electrical, photovoltaic, and luminescent properties were studied. The dependence of the properties of CdS-Cu2−xS films on their composition was revealed. A general scheme of the formation of cadmium and copper sulfides on a fused silica substrate is proposed.

Nitrilotris(methylenephosphonic)acid N[CH2P(O)(OH)2]3 (H6L) reacts with zinc oxide in an aqueous medium to give a poorly soluble polymeric crystalline salt (ZnH4L)n. The reaction proceeds through the intermediate formation of a soluble monomer complex ZnH4L. The water-soluble amorphous forms of the coordination compound used as microfertilizers were obtained by treatment of a suspension of this salt with 2-aminoethanol, 2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3-diol, 2,2′-(ethylenedioxy)bis(ethylamine). p-Aminobenzoic acid H2NC6H4COOH reacts in an aqueous solution with hexabasic nitrilotrimethylenephosphonic acid, as well as with the monomeric complex ZnH4L, giving crystals of bis(4-carboxyphenylaminium) nitrilotris(methylenephosphonate) dihydrate H4L2− · 2(H3N-C6H4-COOH)+ · 2H2O. The compounds were investigated by elemental analysis, IR and UV spectroscopy, X-ray phase analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis. Tests of the water-soluble complex with 2-aminoethanol ZnHL3− · 3(H3NCH2CH2OH)+ · 2H2O in the laboratory experiment with seeds of two agricultural crops showed a positive agronomic effect.

Gadolinium orthoferrite GdFeO3 nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation of gadolinium and iron(m) hydroxides in a free impinging-jets microreactor followed by thermal treatment of co-precipitation products. According to X-ray diffraction, the co-precipitated hydroxides were X-ray amorphous, and the content of key elements within their composition corresponded to the stoichiometry of GdFeO3. Powder X-ray diffraction of the product of thermal treatment of hydroxides at 750 °C for 4 h indicated on the formation of GdFeO3 nanocrystals with a perovskite-like orthorhombic structure and an average crystallite size of 27±3 nm. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the gadolinium orthoferrite nanocrystals had an isometric morphology, and their specific surface area was determined by the Brunauer—Emmett—Teller method to be 13.55 m2g−1. Mossbauer spectroscopy and vibrational magnetometry showed that the obtained GdFeO3 nanoparticles were superparamagnetic and were characterized by a bimodal distribution of the effective field, indicating on their core—shell-type composite structure. The study of the composition, structure, morphology, and magnetic behavior of the obtained gadolinium orthoferrite nanoparticles showed that they can be used as a basis for contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

A salt-like conjugate of xymedone with para-aminobenzoic acid in a series of pyrimidine derivatives was synthesized, and its hepatoprotective properties were studied. The compound studied exhibits a cytoprotective effect at a concentration of 25 μmol L-1 enhancing the viability of normal human hepatocyte cells of the Chang Liver line by 2.1 times against the background of the impact of the d-galactosamine toxicant, which was shown by experiments in vitro. The cytotoxicity of the compound (IC50) is 20.7 mmol L-1. The data indicating the hepatoprotective effect most pronounced at the early stages of therapy were obtained in experiments in vivo performed according to the therapeutic scheme on the model of CCl4-induced toxic hepatitis. The ability of the conjugate to exert reparative and protective effects was found, since the surface area of destructive-degenerative and necrotic injuries revealed in hematoxylin- and eosin-stained sections on the third day of intraperitoneal administration of the studied compound in a dose of 0.7 mg kg-1 decreased by 1.5 times. The areas of detection of lipid inclusions in frozen sections stained with Sudan black decreased by four times on the third day at a dose of 1.7 mg kg-1, whereas the decrease was 3.2 times on the seventh day at a dose of 0.7 mg kg-1 compared to the control group of animals administrated with saline. According to the biochemical parameters, positive effects on the secretory and synthetic functions of the liver, bilirubin metabolism, and metabolism of iron and magnesium were observed during the treatment of animals with the conjugate.

Barton-Zard reaction of nitrostilbenes with ethyl isocyanoacetate carried out in EtOH in the presence of K2CO3 allowed us to minimize the formation of side products and to obtain 3,4-diarylpyrrole-2-carboxylates in high yields.

Phase behavior and structure formation was studied using optical interferometry, nephelometry, and refractometry in the polymer–solvent–nonsolvent system for DMF solutions of two poly(amic acids): based on 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and meta-phenylenediamine (PAA-1) and pyromellitic acid dianhydride and 4,4′-oxydianiline (PAA-2). Distilled water and its mixtures with DMF were used as a nonsolvent. According to the results of the study, isothermal cross sections of the phase state diagram in the threecomponent system were plotted, the position of the critical point, the spinodal, and the conodes were determined, the movement of the figurative points in the system was traced depending on the nonsolvent composition.
