Quantum chemical calculations were performed at the DFT level for the boron-capped dichloro-substituted tris-dioximate iron(II) clathrochelate and cyclohexane and 1,4-dioxane radicals. The 1,4-dioxane and cyclohexane radicals are nucleophiles towards the macrobicyclic precursor studied. The reaction of this clathrochelate with cyclohexane in the presence of a free-radical initiator resulted in substitution of a chlorine atom by a cyclohexyl fragment. The compound obtained was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, 1H and 13C{1H} NMR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction data.

The reaction of the dichloride iron(ii) tris-dioximate clathrochelate with triethyl orthoformate in the presence of metallic sodium afforded the diethoxy-substituted macrobicyclic complex. The first alkoxy-containing clathrochelate was characterized using elemental analysis, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, IR, UV-Vis, 1H and 13C{1H} NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis.

Reactions of alicyclic 2-hydroxyamino oximes with pentafluorophenylglyoxal afford mixtures of annelated derivatives of 2-pentafluorophenylpyrazine 1,4-dioxide and tetrafluoro- 10H-imidazo[1,2-b][1,2]benzooxazin-10-one. The structures of the latter were established by X-ray diffraction analysis.
