The contribution focuses on institutional transitions in social work training and the effects of these changes on the trainers' relationship to their work. It aims to identify the movements but also the tensions, the difficulties and the transactions necessary to give (back) a purpose to the activity and to build new professional references between prescribed work, dreamed/realized work and the reality of training work. Interviews were conducted in four training institutions in the same geographical region. This analysis revealed some of the major issues that cross the world of social work trainers, in the context of changes in the sector. The results help us to understand the changes in identity and the forms of involvement of the actors. They show the need to « work collectively », to regain some room for manoeuvre and to carry out one's mission in a more enlightened and in a better supported way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
