Romania has a special place in Europe in regard with the Roma migration. It is the country of origin of most of the Roma migrants who are in France. Although this migration has taken place under the framework set up by the EU, it seem to produce significant difficulties in host countries. These countries, in turn, are reinforcing their immigration policies by making it easier to deport people back to their country of origin. This has happened in France since the summer of 2010, when the Roma became a target for the French authorities. Within a few weeks, these immigrants unwillingly switched from being invisible to visible owing to the increased media coverage of deportation procedures. Stigmatized by a baseless confusion of immigration with crime, the Roma do not however differ from other migrant groups. Thus, by using the European territorial fluidities, they circulate depending on political agreements and the obstacles encountered while or after moving. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
